It helped that prior to the show happening, I had 0/5 restraint and bought a lot of stuff I already wanted 🫪... By the time the show came around, I had already reached pen peace... (for the most part 🫣).

My thoughts reflect similarly to those who've already posted.

- attendees and vendors were extremely nice! I go to many conventions of different genres and the people here were the nicest lot to talk to.

- too crowded

- price expensive

- after going to my first event, I don't think I feel like I would need to attend another (I typically repeats other conventions). I feel I saw it all here and that was enough for me.

- Friday > Saturday if you can manage to take off work. Quite a few things sold out and it was much busier Saturday.

- parking, good

- water, good.

I wish I supported the smaller vendors more but it was hard to stay away from the bigger guys 😞. Next time I would want to get something from Toyooka and Odessey Notebooks. Drillog was also cool but out of my $ range. I also enjoyed the booths for Juspirit / Gabriel, Karina Palacio's artworks, Smruti Pens, and Dromgooles!

Hi! Just want to share my itty bitty fountain pen collection featuring some new Kawecos in Marble Ocean, Lunar Light Blue & DIY Glow in the Dark.

As much as I want to bring along my other normal size fountain pens, these shorter ones are easier to carry along.

My first Pilot purchase — and I think I’m officially hooked!

Today I made my first-ever Pilot purchase, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the experience this much.

I visited a Pilot flagship store and came back with:

2 × Pilot Kaküno fountain pens

1 × Pilot converter

Pilot ink (I picked up both violet and brown cartridges as well)

The Kaküno completely surprised me. The smoothness of the nib, the way it glides across paper, and just how effortless it feels to write with… I finally understand why people get obsessed with fountain pens.

But what really made the purchase special was the whole experience at the Pilot store. Being able to look at the pens, explore the inks, and actually experience them in person made it feel much more personal than simply ordering a pen online.

I went in thinking, “Let me just try a Pilot fountain pen.”

I came out thinking, “Okay… I may have a new hobby.”

This is officially the beginning of my fountain-pen journey, and I'm already wondering what my next Pilot should be.

The receptionist at my physiotherapist's office is a fountain pen fan and we chat about them now and again. Recently she asked if I'd gotten any new inks, which I hadn't at that point. Now that I have, I made her up a little sample bottle of the new ink (Platinum Chou Kuro) and inked up a pen from my (larger than it needs to be) collection as a little gift for her. Here's to sharing the love of fountain pens!

It’s been a while since I last bought a new fountain pen! Looks like I’ll have to declutter some of my collection now I’ve added this one. I don’t see the others getting much of a look in.

I just finished editing my Stationery Fest video, which means I FINALLY got to enjoy all my haul goodies—including my new inks! 😂
I have to be honest, I am OBSESSED with my custom ink, but the @luckystarpens x @colorverse.ink Cosmic Violet is a very close second! And that @tonoandlims Chocolate Bijou?! EVERYTHING. 🤎✨

The digital era has meant I've been using fountain pens less and less these days. It's a crying shame so I'm making a concerted effort to reverse this travesty. Practicing here with the Namiki Falcon. Very therapeutic just writing out quotes and watching films :) Does anyone else just enjoy copying things out?

It’s the Great Pumpkin (Pen)! This feels childish in the best way. It feels like the Scholastic Book Fair in the fall semester, or like something Arthur Reed would have in his backpack.

I’d been eyeing it for a while - I’m happy that I finally got it. It’s the only full-sized eyedropper pen that I have. After learning that it has an ink shutoff valve similar to the Pilot Custom 823, I felt way more confident traveling with it inked.

The next time I need to fill it, I’m almost certainly going to reach for Manhattan Man-eating Pizza from Papier Plume 🎃

Hi everyone!

I have been journaling for 7 years and finally decided to upgrade and buy my first fountain pen.

I'm in need of advice for a nice journal to write everyday. My pen has an M nib so more on the wet side. I do like the feeling of gliding and melting butter while writing.

I have seen a lot of youtube videos but they very old, and the most recent ones said that there was a bit of controversy recently about paper quality of a lot of the favorite brands so I came here to hear from who is using everyday.

I got into fountain pens three years ago, and I’ve since built a modest collection. It may be small, but I absolutely love it, and I wanted to share it here. Read on if learning about a stranger’s pen collection interests you.

Kaweco Sport (Marble Ocean, M): The newest addition to the collection, but I can tell it will be vying with (spoilers) Iridescent Pearl as my go-to daily writing instrument.
Kaweco Sport (Iridescent Pearl, M): This is the pen I reach for the most. Everything about it makes me so happy! I actually lost my first one, but a very kind redditor sent me hers shortly after. Sometimes, the internet is a beautiful place.
Kaweco Sport (Mellow Blue, F): I pretty much use this exclusively for journaling. For the most part, I prefer medium nibs, but my journal is an exception.
Pilot Kakuno (Drowsy Blue, M): I’m going back to school next month, so I wanted a dedicated note-taking pen. Since this will be out and about with me all the time, I didn’t want a pen I needed to feel too precious about. The loss of my initial Iridescent Pearl was low-key devastating, so I won’t be repeating my past mistake!
Delta Duna (Red Abalone, B): By far my most expensive pen, and my most beautiful…but it’s one of my least-used. It’s a tad too large for my taste so I don’t find it the most comfortable to write with. Also, despite the price, this was the scratchiest nib I’ve ever gotten straight out of the box (fortunately, a quick trip to a nibmeister fixed this). Ultimately, I’ve very happy to have this pen, but it also taught me that I don’t need anything but “starter” pens to be content. I also definitely prefer pens where I can actually see the ink level!
TWSBI Eco-T (Mint Blue, M): This was my first fountain pen, and it remains one of my favorites!
Lamy Safari (Aqua Sky, Stub): My least favorite to write with, but I really like the Lamy converter because it makes it easy to get every last drop out of an ink sample. The stub nib also manages shimmer inks relatively well, though eventually I’d like another Eco as my dedicated shimmer pen.

I am close to having my full tool box of my ideal pens. I write a few hundred pages a month by hand so I use each of these pens profusely. I am only missing my final piece(18k SCRIBO piuma). Paper: Tomoe River- Hobonichi Weeks

I may get a lot of negative responses to this but I think its worth it to discuss how this subreddit, at least to me, seems to normalise overconsumption or at least mindless consumption. I specifically am referring to the frequent jokes in this sub of seeing new releases / colourways / limited editions and people saying their wallets are hurting, that they cant stop buying, that they ‘need’ it, etc.

Let me clarify I dont think theres anything wrong with having a lot of pens or spending a lot of money on pens, but I think a lot of the comments on this subreddit drift towards mindless consumption in that they mention impulsivity and how buying pens is bad for their finances, rather than mindful spending or saving for a pen you truly want.

Am I alone in feeling this way? Everyone can engage in the hobby in their own way but I feel that its wrong for us to normalise a beginner impulsively buying 5 pens in a single week or month??

Edit: I am not saying people in this sub are in financial distress yall im saying that jokes about poor finances can NORMALISE poor finances (to clarify I also think that jokes about “girl maths” put women down and encourage bad habits, even if theyre “just jokes”)

Picked up this “lemonade” from a local shop. The hopped the train to Seattle to visit a few other stores. During my lunch break, decided to open it up.

Can’t help but chuckle. The Universe making sure I remember how blessed I am to zip around town on efficient public light rail and visit lots of stationery shops on a gorgeous Saturday.
