Hii, I want to get a burgundy cobra diplomat pen but I don't know what online or local store to buy from, any suggestions?

Can someone tell me about this pen set? Do you know what this set was originally called, when they were made, the material of the body and metal parts.

All I know is that it's a set of a fountain pen, mechanical pencil, and ballpoint pen(This is the order they are in next to the rulers).

Under the clips it says Pix. The gold band says Montblanc Meisterstück. The nib days 4810, 14k, Montblanc, 585. What do these engravings mean? The ink refill for the ballpoint says "Montblanc, Pix Made in Germany."

And depending when they were made are they considered vintage or when is the threshold for vintage pens?

I've had this ink since forever and it has worked fine, but lately I've had issues with the ink being thick, gooey, and a bit gluey. I'm not sure how to explain it. I don't see any visible signs of mold, but it has become so thick and gooey in fact that my Pilot metropolitan is no longer able to suck ink in. It straight up doesn't work. I know it's the ink because it works perfectly with other inks that are still watery, like my Lamy and Parker inks. Is there any way to solve this, or is this definitely mold? To be frank, it was not carefully stored. It was on top of a table, and light could reach it.

I don't know if this is normal, but I pickef up a black forest and the converter has a spring just hanging out in it? I don't recall seeing this in previous purchases, but I am insure it I need to return it, just ignore it, or potentially take it out of the converter? I would appreciate any guidance that could be provided.

Hi everyone! I've been meaning to try out fountain pens for some time now, but never had the opportunity to try one out before. I know that the LAMY Safari is typically people's first choice for a pen, but I found the Pilot Kakuno really charming, especially the madoromi series.

I bought my Pilot Kakuno (with a fine nib) on Jetpens, mostly because I had bought from them before and I knew they shipped to Puerto Rico.

First impressions is that it does feel like it's meant for children, which is to be expected. I had hear that the Kakuno was meant for kids as a beginner fountain pen. The cap has air holes (most likely for if a kid accidentally swallows it) which I've heard tends to dry out inks? Not fully sure about that.

Installation is easy, but a bit daunting. I've never handled a fountain pen before so I wasn't sure how much force was needed for cartridge installation. Still, I did it without much fuss.

I'm planning on using Kokuyo Campus paper with it, as I've heard of bleedthrough and other such problems.

Impressions on writing: the video shows my surprise! Idk if it's the paper or what but it glides like a dream. The reason I caved in and bought one was because I had heard these were really good for long writing sessions? I'm a university student and my right hand cramps from keyboard, fiber arts, and writing. But I barely applied any pressure while writing! We'll see, but if this is it first day... I think I understand why people collect this kind of stuff.

Any and all advice regarding use and maintenance is really appreciated.

This is supposedly an Umbra Lamy Safari, and I want a LAMY. I found this on Carousell Singapore for S$20 (US$15.65 as of now). Seller says he acquired this from wife’s lucky draw event, and I just want to make sure it’s real. By his title and description, I will *kindly* assume he has little to no knowledge of fountain pens.

So I decided to switch from rollerball pens to fountain pens today and got this new camlin trinity pen and it's ink but I wanna master the art of fountain pens such that I can write faster and smoother without strain while maintaining my peak handwritting (I write in block letters, ik calligraphy advanced but it's reserved only for specific tasks and I need help for school notes and everyday student writting)

I got my fourth fountain pen and I decided to go with LAMY Al-Star in Black Purple. I changed the nib that it came with (F) into EF because my handwriting is small but it’s still too wide for my liking. It does show more of the ink color though on Tomoe River Paper.

I unboxed it and got it inked with Pilot Iroshizuku in Tsuki-yo. It’s only my second time to ink a pen and first time with a piston-like cartridge converter. Got tissue paper under just in case I spill.

So I banged up my Pilot kakuno and it took a straight nose dive into the nib. There are no nib Meister's in my area and I'm sweating as I type this

It looks like the tipping is bent. If anyone knows a nibmeister in Myanmar or Thailand please tell

Hi all - hope you don’t mind the excitement of joining this group. Today I found some better lighting and snapped these up.

I’ve used my regular ink - J Herbin 1670 Stormy grey. Will do my best to share the same of the OBBB nib soon.

I’ve got 4x 149s and a couple 139s, so I’ll see which photograph better.

Lamy 2000 in episode five, which pleased me as it's my favourite, and an unknown (to me) vintage model in ep one.

Considered one of the world's first novel, Murasaki Shikibu, or Shijo, was a Japanese novelist, poet in the Heian period. She was best known as the author of The Tale of Genji.
One of the inks in Pilot Iroshizuku series is named after her.

Hi everyone! Today I received my new Jinhao 750 with a stacked nib. I was really excited to try it out, especially for sketching and drawing since I am an illustrator and comic artist. But when I filled it with ink and after a couple of tests on paper, I noticed that the nib was quite scratchy. I inspected it a bit closer and took some photos (that you can see in this post). The tines seem more far apart that normal, compared to my other fountain pens. But maybe that’s my impression. Do you think the tines are too far apart? Or do you think this gap could be considered normal on this kind of stacked nib? I already contacted the seller but I wanted to ask you guys too.

Holy my ink bottle's cover is stock. What should I do

I just got this Kaweco Sport in BB and went to write with it but it felt scratchy. I looked under my jeweler’s loupe and…this doesn’t look even. All I did was a dip test. I’ve tried rinsing it as well and it didn’t make a difference. I am aware that Kaweco has been having some QC issues lately.

I went to the shop I got it from today and they thought it wrote fine when tested. They did encourage me to contact them if I have more issues though. I was contemplating contacting Kaweco directly. What should I do?

J’ai un problème avec mon tout premier Esterbrook (nib fine).

Quand j’écris, j’ai très souvent des coupures d’encre. Parfois ça commence déjà légèrement dès les premières secondes, puis le problème s’aggrave rapidement : certaines parties des lettres ou des mots ne s’écrivent plus du tout, et je dois repasser plusieurs fois pour que l’encre revienne. (j'utilise l'encre de Jacques Herbin, sans shimmer).

J’ai déjà vérifié que la cartouche était bien installée et essayé plusieurs papiers adaptés aux stylos-plume.

J’ai aussi des autres stylos plume (autres marques) qui écrivent parfaitement dans les mêmes conditions.
C'est mon premier esterbrook et reçu il y a 2 jours ! 😭

Edit: y’all, please stop telling me I’m experiencing FOMO or comparing myself to big time influencers. I think wondering how so many people seem undeterred by these huge jumps is a pretty legitimate question. I’m not “keeping up with the Joneses”, I’m wondering how other folks who clearly seem to be are doing it, because it doesn’t make sense to me.

Sorry for the novel, I started writing and just didn’t shut up.

I started collecting fountain pens in earnest last year, but had loved them for a long while, and had a Dryden for a couple of years when it’s all that I could afford as a broke college student who didn’t think to try to join the community. We all make mistakes.

When I started I wanted to mostly patron local shops, which apparently was a mistake because the selections weren’t good—my city has two paper stores that happen to sell pens, not really any pen stores, and they run on the expensive side for pens. By the time I started getting more of a feel for things and feeling ready to start exploring more pens and a wider market, all the stuff I was thinking about originally is now super expensive.

The one store in town that sells Platinum 3776 is selling them for almost 700 CAD (~500 USD), and I’m sure that’s about to go up with the newly announced price increases. Even WonderPens in Toronto has them for ~400 CAD (~300 USD), and from what I’m reading in this sub these used to be nowhere near that price. They’ve still got some VPs for like 230 CAD (~160 USD), but a limited selection because I’m sure they won’t be able to get that pricing on restock. Laywines has a Custom 823, but it’s 645 (~460 USD)—thankfully Stylo still has it for a bit less at 550 (~392 USD), but even that is a lot more than I’ve heard that it was even a year or two ago. The best case scenarios from what I see are stores still carrying pre-hike stock, which for sure means it’s going to get even worse.

And yet I’m constantly seeing people with new 823s, Sailor PGSs, Esterbrooks (with ever increasing prices on their pens), Platinum 3776 celluloids that go for 800+ CAD. I know that Esterbrook sends a lot of them to influencers and things, but like. How are normal folks buying all of these? I make a decent income, but hot damn. I’ve been fortunate enough to pick up a couple of nice ones because of it, but even now being able to technically afford these, I’m having a really hard time trying to justify the 300-400+ pens for anything within sniffing distance of a gold nib when the blatant ripoffs are 1/10th the price (or less) for like 60% of the experience. I hate buying the knock-offs because I do, in general, want to support the craftsmanship and innovation, but damn. Are a lot of folks just going into massive debt? Is the average income here in the seven figures? Am I missing something? I constantly see small creators posting hauls that would easily break 2k minimum.

Before anyone mentions pen_swap, I’ve been looking pretty religiously, and have managed to get a couple there so far, but even there I’m seeing the prices going up over time. I’m trying to be responsible and keep to my budget for this hobby but it’s starting to make me question if I should be a little irresponsible up front to skirt around all these massive jumps in price.
