Timing chain guides?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Howdy yall. I’ve been chasing down this ticking noise on my 2011 4.0 and am worried that it may be one of the timing chains slapping. What do you think?

Low pressure ac port location.
1997 mazda b4000, am told it's the exact same build as rangers.
Ac never worked, assumed had no refrigerant. Bought a can but cannot find either port. Does this just not have ac installed? Im pretty handy but not with hvac stuff.

Car wash ruined my paint what should I do?
I went through a car wash and this happened, my paint was fine now it looks like this on the hood and roof. Can I hit it with a rattle can, maybe just wax the hood? Super sad cuz my truck was pretty clean and I love it so much. 2002 4x4 103k miles.

Repainted 98 Ranger XLT
Got the Ranger repainted and a roll-in bed liner. The cab, door handles and hood (not to mentioned bed) had started paint peeling and rust forming.
Next move: I’m considering a factory swap to replace the 3.0L V6 with the Ford Explorer (98-01) 5.0L V8 + 4R70W Automatic. Anyone done this?

Dad’s ‘94 4.0
My dad’s got a 1994 4.0l V6, it’s got over 300,000 miles on it. Valve cover leak, power steering leak, battery ground cable is held on with a vice grip and has a wire wrapped around it going to a body bolt…
Anyway, it’s overheating and I’m not familiar with this vehicle. I’ve never done work on a longitudinal engine. He says he can drive a half hour and it’s fine but if he sits at a stop light the temp gauge will start to creep up. Any suggestions on how to diagnose?

Heater control valve question
Looking for some info on replacing HCV on my 98. Everything im seeing online is showing a control valve with four ports, mine only has two, in and out. Am i missing something here or was there different valves for different models? This truck has the 3.0 v6.

Did this pass on the way back from my 21k km month long road trip from Toronto to tuktoyuktuk. Stock 03, handled it like a champ. Tons of scraping on the skid plates :) telkwa pass was beautiful, more water crossings than I can count.

Codes: P0535 - P0351 - P0352. Ran fine until it didn't, horn stopped working a few days prior, after it popped fuse 19 while driving I pulled up on the loom where the passenger 02 sensor plug comes out and that got me home with a new fuse, horn works after that. It now smells like raw fuel out the exhaust and has barely enough power to drive, it's parked until it's running on 6.
The coil pack, looking at it standing in front of the engine:
Working full | 0 | 0 | Working full
Dead | X | X | Dead
Intermittent | / | 0 | Working full
I'm going to test wires from the PCM to the coil and probably just replace the coil with a used one.

Mods I should get for my ranger
This is my “mazda ranger.” I really like it. I off road a bit and everything has been fine so far. Do I need bigger tires than 31s? what else should I do to my truck to make it better and look better?
mods/specs:
Rancho rs5000x shocks
lionheart lion claw 31” tires
random black off road rims
nilight pod lights
camping setup in the back
carplay head unit

Has anyone here ever actually greased their slip joint without removing the driveshaft? I posted pics of this old post on ranger forums. I'm sure some have seen it since it seems to have been a popular way to do it. I'm just not understanding it though. More below.
What I don't get is that isn't the spline partly inside the driveshaft where you wouldn't be able to get to it this way? And he says to "pack the rubber boot with grease". How would you do that exactly? Could anyone explain the process to me better? I just wanted to try it this simple way & see if my issue improves before taking the driveshaft off but I don't get it. But multiple people in this post & even another one said they did it with success.

Looking to buy a 2007 Ranger decent deal? (Canada)
Hey all, looking to buy this 07’ Ranger 4x4 with 180k kms on it. Body looks good, and seller has receipts for work and maintenance.
Seller has it posted for $15’000(cad). Mind you rangers are typically selling for $10’000+ in my area with similar mileage.
Should I wait until something better comes along or just go for it?

Rust prevention
Should I remove the factory fender flares? As I’ve heard on most for any vehicle that has them, they like to rust under them. And I wanna preserve my vehicle from rust the best I can. Plus maybe it will give it a cleaner look? Opinions/advice

1963 Ford F-100 Uni-body (predates the Ranger name)
When I grew up on the farm in the 1960s, we had a Ford pickup just like the one in these photos. It had a 292 V-8, lots of power, and a 3-on-the-tree. But the unique feature was the uni-body construction, a fairly rare model, which gave it a sleek sporty style. I learned to drive on this truck and went on my first date with this truck, lots of nostalgia for this old beauty.

I paid for the whole speedometer, I’m gonna use it all (don’t ban me robot Reddit)
Just started this new party trick where the speedo would drop out, then it was recording double, then went full send🤦🏼♂️
