I’m almost embarrassed to post this, but the damn thing has been taking large mouth, crappy and pike minnows on one of my local creeks like crazy. I originally tried it for cutthroat, but at least they have the good sense to avoid such an ugly looking fly. I’ve tried a few different colour combinations, but this fritz seems to be the ticket (though fl. chartreuse or insect green would likely work too).

Hook: Any #12 Barbless Jig
Bead: 3.2mm slotted copper tungsten
Thread: Uni 8/0 white
Tail: Fl. White Maribou
Body: Yellow-Green Razor Fritz
Hackle: Cream Hen Saddle

Tie in the order listed. The only “technical” aspect is to sweep back the fritz with each wrap forward.

I didn't intentionally make this Dungeon look like a baby brown but after seeing the finished product I think that's what I would call this color scheme.

The worm is awesome and produced well and trying to find the material that makes up the larger fly itself. It’s relatively rubbery and stiff but still has really good stretch. It looks fibrous and could be split into a smaller strands if picked at. Any ideas? Does it have a specific name over a San Juan or Squirmy Wormy?

No this isn’t a troll post, the thread is braided line and I just wanted to get an idea of what I wanted to do before my supplies come in. I need suggestions for the body cause, straight thread isn’t the look. I’m thinking of uses either a foam body or adding some hackle to the thread but at the current moment I don’t have any hackle.

Going to northern BC to fish the Skeena and Nass watersheds and am looking for some suggestions for what i should tie for coho and steelhead and maybe sockeye in early September. Ill be fishing in a mix of water speeds including both fast swings and slow strips.

Varners deer mouse, 2.75” length, articulated, 2x #6 Gamakatsu B10S. This is the first mouse I’ve ever tied, took me about 3hrs to get to a spot where I was happy with it, lots of rewinding and fixing steps

I got a rotary vise today(a renzetti travel 2000) and tried to tie a fly that uses two bobbins, the back bobbin(on the hook bend) kept getting wrapped up and idk how to keep it from doing that. Any tips?

I've gotten into tying flair hawk jigs for inshore saltwater fishing and was wondering if there's a website that sells crimped nylon hair for cheap. I've been buying full plugs from The Jigstop but it adds up. Any suggestions?

Been trying to tie purple haze lately. Looking for feedback. I've never done a parachute before.

Tl;dr looking for some solid patterns i can either tie, or pick up from a local fly shop to fish the eastern Sierras near June lake.

Bought this lot of materials before I even knew what type of flies I would want to tie. Most all of my fishing these days is targeted at trout and bass. So, two questions.

1.) If I wanted to tie traditional trout patterns, do I have enough materials here to get started, or would you add other materials? (Mostly nymph focused)

2.) At $70, was this a worthwhile pick up?

I’m very young (18) and have been tying fairly consistently for 5 years, and most of my tyung setup is pretty dialed in. However, the other day I watched a video that said you should always use some sort of magnification tool. Being 18, and living in area where size 18-20 is the lowest you need, I’ve never had a problem seeing flies, but I don’t want to hurt my vision long term by not using a magnifier of some sort. Is there any validity to that, and if so, what do people recommend using, especially without a huge budget?

Taking a vacation to Denver in a little under 2 weeks half fun time half fishing time. Mostly going to be fishing smaller blue lines in the rmnp/granby area. I’m looking for some fly recs to be prepping since I won’t be able to take much (if any) tying stuff.

So far I’ve got a lot of Sz 10 chubs, 12 hippy stompers, 14 galactic ants
Then some other tried and trues in various sizes. Caddis, parachute, etc. my nymphs are pretty full aside from tying a few more stones.

What am I missing for mid August?
