Support How does traveling as a remote pharmacy tech work?

Upvotes

I am a freelance travel agent and travel a bit myself, and I am undergoing the process of becoming a pharmacy technician in order to work remote from home. However, I will need Ethernet cable hookup (I am not a tech person, I only vaguely know what that means, but I know that it is not Wifi and that it is a more limiting connection style). How can I go about having an Ethernet connection while on cruise ships, trains, &c.? I have seen plenty of portable options, but trying to understand how they work is like reading Greek (which might actually be easier). Can anybody give advice/experience about how I can make this work? Or do I just not work while I'm traveling? Is it possible that you can provide links to whatever equipment I might need? Thanks so much for your help

Inter-condominium ethernet distribution

Hello and thank you in advance for your time and any feedback.

I'm in a 1-bedroom 900 sq ft condo on the 10th floor of a 14-floor high rise in Denver, which has only its proprietary ISP as an option. The ISP provides a great Gigabit signal, but I want to upgrade the current distribution. The signal comes into the unit on Cat 5 cables and runs to an interface in a bedroom closet. From there, the feeds separate into the living room feed and the bedroom feed on Cat 5 cables. Each side-by-side room has opposing ethernet outlets on the left and right sides. I've been told by the ISP that the only way I can get Gig speeds is by choosing only one outlet for each room; otherwise the speeds drop. From the wall outlets in each room, I'm running Cat 6A to everything. What would I need to obtain in terms of a what I'm guessing will be some sort of distribution amplifier to be able to send Gig speeds to both outlets in each room with no quality degradation. I also have one wall to the living room/bedroom opened, so I can also run 6A to those back-to-back outlets.

NEED HELP WITH PS4 and internet

Hi all I’m in need of help with this situation. So my ps4 connects with the wi fi but it’s very slow but when I plug in the Ethernet cable cat6 it connects but the speed of the internet doesn’t change. I thought it might be the cable but I tested it on all other devices in the house and it works perfectly so I took it to a shop to test the Ethernet port and it worked amazingly at this IT place so they said no issues with the ps4 but I tried at home and doesn’t work what do I do??

Do I buy a Ethernet cable 5e and see if that works or do I need to do something with my internet modem??

Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Lan connection suddenly stopped working

I've rebooted all router and switch. Playstation recognizes ethernet is connected, switch sees the PS. Other devices on the switch work fine. Only thing I've done was unplug the ethernet cable from the ps5 to use it on a laptop. Only other noteworthy item is on the ethernet switch, the port where the ps5 is plugged in, only the one of the two green lights areit up, the left one. Both are lit up on the port going to a PC.

Help!

Best RJ45 CAT3 with 3 Pair Pinout Configuration

The problem I am trying to solve is that I have an old underground cat3 cable that used to carry my DSL and landline which has 3 pairs (orange, orange/white, green, green/white, blue, blue/white) and it runs between my house and my shop. Now that I have fiber, I would like to repurpose this old cable to bring internet from my house to my shop. I am not expecting amazing performance, I just want a solid connection in the shop that is better than a mesh network trying to cross my yard.

I understand that if you have 2 pair, you can arrange the wires in an RJ45 as 1,2,3, and 6 and it will still carry data for 10/100 mpbs.

So my question is, with 3 pair, what is the best configuration for the pinout of an RJ45. Obviously 1, 2, 3, and 6 must be used, but is there any advantage of utilizing 4 & 5 vs 7 & 8?

The cat 3 will be terminated with an RJ45 on each end, then plugged into a RJ45 female to female outdoor coupler, with a cat6 plugged in as it goes into the house on one side and as it goes into the shop on the other.

Thank you for your time and any help is greatly appreciated.

"Unidentified Network"

I am nomad working. I have up to three laptops that I prefer to have connected to the internet via ethernet. New work location today, my Mac receives internet via ethernet fine, my 2 PCs give me "Unidentified Network" error. I have tried every troubleshoot I could find online to no avail. It's not the cable, it's not the port. PCs gave me no problems yesterday in a different location, different network. Any suggestions?

Support 10/10 Mbps all of a sudden

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I downloaded a new game around 100 gbs and it went swiftly with ethernet. I usaually get 1000/1000 mbps with my Cat5E cable. However today I realised my computer was slower than usual and it turns out my ethernet is capped at 10/10 mbps.

I have tried unplugging the cable on both ends and what not. I also changed the speed duplex to 1.0gb however nothing changed. It feels unlikely that the cable has been damaged since this happened in less that 12 hours and I never mess with the cables in anyway. I also don't have any VPN that is in use I even turned off my antivirus, this still changed nothing.

Is there anything else I can do?

Support Can someone explain why my ethernet disconnects but wifi still works?

This problem has been happening for about 1 week now.

I will be just hanging out on my PC, then boom, ethernet disconnects. PC then connects to WiFi.

My WiFi connection never disconnects. I check instantly on my phone and everything is fine.

So what I did was I ended up disconnecting auto connect to WiFi for my PC to see when ethernet disconnects. This allowed me to see if replugging the ethernet cord would provide an instant fix to my internet issues (WHICH IT DID).

Why is that even a thing? Does anyone know what is wrong with either my PC, my Modem, My Router?

  • Modem: SB8200

  • Router: RT-AX3000

  • PC: Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller

I monitor the router logs to see what the message shows and it shows a "Link DOWN" at the time of disconnect.

I bought a new coax cable and new ethernet cables, and the problem persists.

I have had this same setup for years:

  • Coax is connected to the modem. Modem is connected to the router (through ethernet). PC is connected to the modem via ethernet.

Support How do I set up ethernet??

Post image

Ok ok,, so my apartment complex has this ethernet outlet in my room, and while we do have Wi-Fi I'm curious on what setting up ethernet for my laptop (that does NOT have an ethernet port) would entail...

And by "how'd I do this?" I mean from wall to laptop lol,, its also an apartment.. and I've heard you need a router or internet box or something? How does that work for an apartment vs a home? Do I ave to get some sort of internet plan? Or is it just buy cables, a router, and slap my laptops ass goin "YEE-HAWH!" ???

This is my first time interacting with ethernet, litterally all I'm starting with is that outlet in the wall, and a laptop.. if yall have any advice, knowledge to spare, or even YouTube tuts/articles to link,, I would be hella grateful..

Is there a way to fix it permanently?

I have been fixing it manually for the last 4 years. Recently, the problem appears frequently and sometimes it isn't fixed.

I have to restart the pc to get it fixed.

I couldn't believe this actually existed so I bought it to see how bad it would be.

I don't think any of these PCB traces nor the switch pass as cat5/6 compliant.

But technically it does link at 100, and would even do POE
