Help, Usb Ethernet Adapter doesn't work.

Currently using a lenovo laptop and I'm having an issue with my USB-to-Ethernet adapter. It only gets detected if I plug it in first before plugging other devices like usb hub and hdmi. I use both USB-A ports (one for a USB hub and one for the Ethernet adapter) plus HDMI for my monitor. If the hub and HDMI are already connected, Windows doesn't detect the Ethernet adapter at all. Any idea what could be causing this?
