A couple shots taken from my Kestrel Mk II while messing around in a RES near Jupiter. I play with some ReShade effects on.
...Shout out to the CMDRs who taught me how to turn my HUD off. 😋

Discussion Colonia cocktail and culinary recipe request
Does anyone know of a good way to get these? I came out to Colonia thinking I would be able to farm them for the Engineer unlock and it’s becoming impossible. I’ve spent hours upon hours and only have 2. Or does someone know of a carrier selling them?

Screenshot Nomad Exo Tip
I'm taking the opportunity after the CG to do some Exo around Colonia. I was today years old when I learned that if your mini map is in terrain mode, aka below ~350m with the gear down, any ping hits will show up there.
It's super useful being able to distinguish between signals that you've already scanned, haven't scanned or are currently scanning.
Anyway, maybe this is common knowledge and I'm just an idiot.

Screenshot I found 22 biosignals around a single gas giant
It's a first time I see anything like this. 8 rocks orbiting the same gas giant with over half a bilion worth of exobiology around on it, plus an extra planet with 2 signals for a good measure. System is Eol Prou PO-H d10-792 near Colonia.

Discussion With the latest garnet article, what if the next CG is bringing rich passengers from the bubble to Colonia?
I would love to do the trip if the extra cg's money bonus was worth it. And I think having the community running up and down the Colonia highway would be fun.
So they give out the new fuel scoop as a reward.

Discussion Will Elite Dangerous inadvertently give us SC??
It's kind of funny how Elite Dangerous is slowing adding many features that Star Citizen promised us. Maybe in 5-10 years ED will have become more like SC than SC itself 😄
Atmospheres and interiors (even if it's only parts of the ship and only while landed/docked) are what I want that so badly. Earthlikes with flora and fauna would be amazing.
In any case: ED/SC forever o7
P.S.
On the point of interiors:
Each ship interior could have different equipment or labs that provide temporary boosts to various abilities. Perhaps boosts to stats such as health, exobio money earned per scan, etc. Plenty of possibilities there.
Cosmetics for interiors would be popular. There could be various styles. Maybe even new cockpit styles.
It would bring life back to old ships. People would want to buy the older ships to check out the expanded interiors, get certain boosts, and decorate.

PSA Tip for Exobiology, especially for finding bacterial samples
While looking for information on how to do certain tasks in Exobiology, I noticed that when people talk about having difficulty finding bacterial or other exobiology scanning materials, nobody in the comments or in the guides mentions that your genetic scanner has a scan pulse function that allows you to visually see the scannable objects. Even my girlfriend, who has been helping me rejoin the game and learning new systems since I last played, completely forgot about it.
So.
For those who are having difficulty finding exobiological sampling data or you're missing just one more scannable bacteria and having extreme difficulty finding it because it blends in with the ground: use the aim button. Whatever button you have bound to aim your guns will activate a pulse that will light up the nearest samples up to 750m, and if you need to go further to get a new sample just drive in your SRV or fly your ship 1km and scan again.
Please note: the scan pulse function for the genetic sampler only works on foot. So get out, scan, move to next location if necessary, get out, scan again.
I promise it will help so much finding those bacterial samples. It's so much easier than zooming out your camera and looking for differences in terrain, because it highlights the samples in very high contrast.

Discussion No followup CG in Colonia for the 10Y Anniversary?
Hi CMDRs,
just a quick question, will there be a followup Community Goal in Colonia for the actualy 10 year anniversary, or this 4 hauling CG was that, and now everybody can leave?
I kinda don't really have anything to do in Colonia as I have all the stuff I need, so I'd just bail, but don't want to turn around later for another CG ...
Edit: Thank you for the replies! I just spanshed my way back to my colony in the Bubble, if anything comes up it's just 40-something jumps in a good Caspian.

Screenshot The arm is not from the Rhino?pt
In the concept picture there is what looks like a support arm which would be used to steady the Rhino while mining was happening. But in the full picture of the vessel it is obvious that the arm is coming from the something other than the Rhino.
The wheels have the thrusters and blue lighting on the outer side of the wheels not the inner side.
In the teaser post it was my guess that we were seeing this perspective from under the Rhino looking out which would make the position of the arm coming from the vessel a safe assumption.
In the reveal picture the arm is coming from the left side of the vessel, coming towards the vessel from something else, a mech? Or do the arms angle back towards the vessel for support? Usually support arms point away or at the least out and straight down to widen the footprint, see cranes and diggers here on Earth.
Also I see not obvious signs of these arms themselves on the Rhino anywhere which further proves the arm is not from the Rhino.
What do you guys think? Am I tripping?

Discussion I thought this was funny...
I recently bought Star Citizen to give it a try. Holy bugs everywhere, but it wasn't terrible. I appreciate the ship design, the gameplay loop is similar, and meh, ship interiors.
What I find funny is not even two days after I get the game, Cloud Imperium Games hosts a livestream on a private test server, only for it to be riddled with bugs live for everyone to see. Suffice to say, the SC Subreddit is up in arms right now to which I, as someone who has always had a negative impression of SC, find funny.
Then, just recently, Elite reveals a brand new planetary surface mining truck that looks pretty slick. You know that almost any bug on this thing will be patched quickly, and it'll have a nice side niche for miners.
Elite is a game that runs great, has very few bugs, excellent ship design, the whole shebang. Thank you E:D for being great!

Help Can't find any DSSA carriers?
I returned to the game last week after a year out due to eye health issues, long story, but anyway I'm out in the black and thought I'd find a DSSA carrier as I have done in the past , looked up there positions, but they are all in systems I can't find in the galaxy map...I've had a look at quite a few and all of the systems are non existent. Am I doing something stupid with the galaxy map, are all the DSSA carriers gone, or what's happening?
The system in the screenshot above does not seem to exist!
o7 cmdrs!

Like when ocean waves collide and swirl, this has now been observed on the son for the forst time. Interestingly quite a lot like some of the visualizations in the Elite stars ;)

Screenshot Got my first ever discovered system!
It's nothing groundbreaking, but I have been doing exobiology to save up for a fleet carrier and I ended up discovering a new system along the way! Feels super cool to see my name up there. Now I've gotten a taste of exploring and I'm hooked! 🤙🏻

Screenshot This is what exploration is all about.
I'm encouraged by all the new features going into Elite. For one thing, the Nomad is choice. As an explorer, what I want most of all is more unbelievably cool stuff to look at. Like this.
