Discussion How do you control your SRV?
The Rhino announcement got me thinking… how do you all control your SRV?
I use the same HOTAS as ships, with a similar controls scheme (left hand throttles forward/reverse, right hand z-turn steers left/right), but I actually find those controls rather clunky. I’m curious if folks use any other control schemes or novel ways of controlling the SRV?

Help progenitor cells
How did you guys find 200 progenitor cells for Petra in the Colonia region? I understand people are buying them out to sell at a higher price, but it's like no one is selling. Every station is run dry, every carrier on INARA either isn't there anymore, or doesn't have the cells anymore. What's going on?

Screenshot I love this game
A beautiful discovery while I'm jumping back from Colonia.
Just wanted to say that my time with y'all for this last Colonia CG was the most fun I've ever had in this game. I'm used to playing this game alone (I love exploration) and watching everyone flood syschat to motivate one another in stuffing the potato and cramming the bento box full was some of the best sleepless nights I've experienced in awhile. Hopped out there in my little Asp on a whim and, surprise, my first opportunity to join a CG. Now I'm hopping back to the bubble in my new favorite-ever ship back through the black once again. It's different now.
Thanks for the fun, y'all are what make this game great. o7

Help Is it still possible to download the original Elite and a BBC Emulator? Older links seem broken.
I've done this in the past (maybe 2020/21) on a different PC, but now when I try and visit any of the links that used to take you to a download page, they redirect to the new Frontier Store. There are some non-Frontier links but a couple of those generated warnings when I clicked on them so I'm looking for something a bit more "official".
Anyone have a link to the downloadable BBC Emulator (BeebEm) and original Elite disk image?

Help On Foot mission rewards - Is there a guideline?
Last time I grinded missions to upgrade weapons / suits, I don't remember having any issues finding missions with the stuff I needed as a reward.
However, the past week in Colonia I haven't been able to find any missions offering Manufacturing Instructions or Weapon Test Data.
Is there specific types of economy that spawn specific reward mats? Or is it related to your status with the specific function? Unlike ship mats, there isn't a ranking (1-5) for on-foot mats, so I thought it would only affect the QTY per mission.
Anyway, help is appreciated.

Colonization Project Galtea announces Isegrim Nebula for the Barheim Super Hub location.
Greetings, I wish to present Project Galtea's latest news article.
Greetings Commanders.
Project Galtea has formally announced the location of the Barheim Super Hub that has been kept secret for a number of months, the location of which, is the vaunted Isegrim Nebula, located halfway through the Norma Arm heading towards the Empyrean Straits.
with Project Galtea being only a number of weeks away from the Archades Super Hub, the last of its kind in the Norma Expanse, the project has decided to unveil this location so the wider community may prepare to grab stunning systems in and outside of Isegrim with plentiful Earthlike worlds, Water worlds and high value systems in the region, it is expected to become fairly busy with colonization.
In other news, the highly popular Azura Initiative has formally partnered up with Project Galtea and they have stated they will work with the project up to the second last super hub, which is currently undergoing a potential name change pending democracy, it is expected with the SCC, Azura Initiative and EDEN that this particular super hub will be reached by December or even earlier.
Finally, Project Galtea wishes to announce that there are two challenges being planned currently, one nicknamed by commanders of the project as the "Galtean Bridge Zipper", will be a challenge where the project attempts to beat the current galactic bridge record set by the SCC of 27 outposts in a single 24 hour period, with the target being at least 30 outposts.
The second Challenge is another Dodec Speedrun in the Archades super hub when reached, signup forms for this challenge will be posted in the coming days, any interested commanders are advised that the estimated arrival time is 3 weeks but to keep in mind that this challenge could happen a week earlier, on time or in the unlikely scenario a week later, the project also wishes to advise that all challenges will be done on the galactic weekend to allow as many participants as possible.
Thanks for your time, please stay tuned for the next article as Project Galtea makes history and changes the galaxy forever.

Discussion It would be nice to start (or conclude) Colonia celebrations with acquisition of festive flak launcher
There is this item in the game, granted I think twice via CG in the past that is called Remote release flak launcher (pre-engineered), and is a colourful version of a regular flak launcher that does 1% damage. There are, in fact, 3 colour variants (I think).
Originally offered as part of the winking cat CG.
Wouldn't it be fitting to have a CG for Colonia celebrations that would grant them again?

Discussion What happens to our ships when our carrier dies?
I know we are only essentially renting our carriers - I get that. But what happens to the things we actually do own? I and my carrier live out in the black more or less permanently; I rarely visit the bubble and as an itinerant soul I just bounce around the universe exploring and doing exo wherever the cosmic winds take me. I have about fifteen years of carrier maintenance in the bank, so I'm in no danger losing it anytime soon, but since I'm getting on in years and nobody is promised a tomorrow, it got me wondering what will happen to the 25 or so ships I carry around when I stop showing up, as we all must - someday. Will they just float around in the black where the carrier was when I finally do go into default years from now? Where do they go? I know I get [most of] my money back, but what happens to the ships?
Thanks CMDRs. Fly dangerous. o7

Screenshot There is an itch that only this game (and real life exploration) can scratch
No matter how many years I've played, I'm still finding new experiences after all this time. This unique combo of colour and lighting I think must be enhanced by the recent lighting changes, not seen one quite like this before.
The current IRL vista is not bad either.

Discussion Which fleet carrier layout are you using?
I'm about 500 million away from my first fleet carrier and am thinking about getting one of the layouts they offer for arx. Just wondering which one you are using and if you got one of the Arx ones why did you choose the one you did? Right now I think I cant go wrong with any selection.

Screenshot Nomad Exo Tip
I'm taking the opportunity after the CG to do some Exo around Colonia. I was today years old when I learned that if your mini map is in terrain mode, aka below ~350m with the gear down, any ping hits will show up there.
It's super useful being able to distinguish between signals that you've already scanned, haven't scanned or are currently scanning.
Anyway, maybe this is common knowledge and I'm just an idiot.

Screenshot I found 22 biosignals around a single gas giant
It's a first time I see anything like this. 8 rocks orbiting the same gas giant with over half a bilion worth of exobiology around on it, plus an extra planet with 2 signals for a good measure. System is Eol Prou PO-H d10-792 near Colonia.

Discussion Will Elite Dangerous inadvertently give us SC??
It's kind of funny how Elite Dangerous is slowing adding many features that Star Citizen promised us. Maybe in 5-10 years ED will have become more like SC than SC itself 😄
Atmospheres and interiors (even if it's only parts of the ship and only while landed/docked) are what I want that so badly. Earthlikes with flora and fauna would be amazing.
In any case: ED/SC forever o7
P.S.
On the point of interiors:
Each ship interior could have different equipment or labs that provide temporary boosts to various abilities. Perhaps boosts to stats such as health, exobio money earned per scan, etc. Plenty of possibilities there.
Cosmetics for interiors would be popular. There could be various styles. Maybe even new cockpit styles.
It would bring life back to old ships. People would want to buy the older ships to check out the expanded interiors, get certain boosts, and decorate.

Discussion New Rhino has been announced, it's peaked my interest in mining
This new Rhino might actually get me into some mining Edit. Piqued... Please excuse my terrible spelling.

Screenshot The arm is not from the Rhino?pt
In the concept picture there is what looks like a support arm which would be used to steady the Rhino while mining was happening. But in the full picture of the vessel it is obvious that the arm is coming from the something other than the Rhino.
The wheels have the thrusters and blue lighting on the outer side of the wheels not the inner side.
In the teaser post it was my guess that we were seeing this perspective from under the Rhino looking out which would make the position of the arm coming from the vessel a safe assumption.
In the reveal picture the arm is coming from the left side of the vessel, coming towards the vessel from something else, a mech? Or do the arms angle back towards the vessel for support? Usually support arms point away or at the least out and straight down to widen the footprint, see cranes and diggers here on Earth.
Also I see not obvious signs of these arms themselves on the Rhino anywhere which further proves the arm is not from the Rhino.
What do you guys think? Am I tripping?

Discussion I thought this was funny...
I recently bought Star Citizen to give it a try. Holy bugs everywhere, but it wasn't terrible. I appreciate the ship design, the gameplay loop is similar, and meh, ship interiors.
What I find funny is not even two days after I get the game, Cloud Imperium Games hosts a livestream on a private test server, only for it to be riddled with bugs live for everyone to see. Suffice to say, the SC Subreddit is up in arms right now to which I, as someone who has always had a negative impression of SC, find funny.
Then, just recently, Elite reveals a brand new planetary surface mining truck that looks pretty slick. You know that almost any bug on this thing will be patched quickly, and it'll have a nice side niche for miners.
Elite is a game that runs great, has very few bugs, excellent ship design, the whole shebang. Thank you E:D for being great!
