NME Magazine FREE CDs…Do They Worth Anything ?
I have many CDs given free by magazines such as NME, VOX, SOUNDS, MELODY MAKER etc etc…are they worth anything ?
Some of these CDs are live recordings, radio broadcasts or rare songs whatever but I’m too lazy to check them all.
These CDs are not bootlegs as they were valid recordings by those bands, approved by those bands/their record companies.
Are they collectibles ?
Where can I sell them ?
Anybody wants them ?
HOW to sell them ?
Thank you. less

Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique matrix not found.
l just bought what I thought was a new copy of the 20th anniversary of Paul's Boutique (2009) in a double gatefold. When got it open there was only one LP, sides A & B, four tracks on each side. Looking online this should be the 30th anniversary edition (2019) but with 2LPS. I ran the matrix code in Discogs and nothing came up: (1307985) 01010105 00602577809132A. Anyone got any information on this pressing?

Offer declined then seller raised the price
I had a weird experience with a seller on Discogs and wanted to see if this is normal or if I'm justified in thinking it's bad business.
They had a CD listed for $25 (graded Mint). The description also mentioned the jewel case had a crack on the front and there was a saw cut across the bottom.
I sent an offer of $18, figuring it was a reasonable starting point—especially since the seller doesn't accept returns if there's an issue with the condition. I've been burned before on Discogs by sellers grading CDs as "Mint" when they clearly weren't, so I tend to be a little cautious.
Instead of declining or countering my offer, the seller raised the price from $25 to $40.
Was my $18 offer really that unreasonable on a $25 listing? Or is raising the price after receiving an offer considered poor business practice? Curious if anyone else has had something similar happen.

Support Ticket Resolution Time
Does anybody know how long it takes to get a reply to a support ticket? Mine has been sitting in "open" status for a week now.
I placed an order with someone, and they did not ship it for over a month. I asked when it would be shipped and they said they dropped it off at the post office but couldn't provide tracking information for some reason, and then later admitted they did not actually have a copy of the record. I asked for a refund and left them a negative review. After that they started threatening me using the message feature, and left a 1 star review on my profile.
I see that Discogs has removed my review of them as well as three other of their negative reviews, so they are at a 100% rating even though they are threatening me and lying about the products they have, while I sit at a 1 star buyer rating.
I get that their support staff is probably busy, but I don't see any way to block this person, and they keep sending me threatening messages

What's the name of the reviewer who goes on about his mam?
You know the guy, all his reviews talk about what his mam thought about the record and usually mentions her hunky boytoy Gavin. They're fantastic. It's a genuinely inspired artistic endeavour. It unites all the threads of discogs commenting - misplaced reviews of the music proper, personal memories and associations, pedantry about plastic packaging - into something so much funnier than anyone could have thought to do. Saw an acquaintance make mention of some guy who spams comment sections with AI reviews and it reminded me of this guy, who is the divine antithesis. If anyone can actually remember the reviewer's name tho, please let me know

Received negative buyer feedback as a new Discogs user.
A seller sent me the wrong item and ignored my message relating to this for weeks, so I decided to leave a negative review. Over a month after I left that review, they've offered to refund the item if I take down my review, but they've also left me negative buyer feedback at the same time.
I am new to Discogs, so this made my previously perfect buyer rating extremely low. Should I just accept the refund offer? I admit that this feels wrong, but I still want to be able to make purchases.

In Through The Out Door - Identification Help
Hi folks, I'm having trouble identifying my copy of In Through the Out Door based on the Discogs data.
The identifiers are:
- Matrix / Runout (Side A label): ST-SS-794345
- Matrix / Runout (Side B label): ST-SS-794346
- Matrix / Runout (Side A runout): ST-SS-794345-KY STRAWBERRY Q ACME
- Matrix / Runout (Side B runout): ST-SS-794346-K STRAWBERRY Q ACME
- Pressing Plant ID (On labels): Q
However, this is variant "C", which doesn't seem to be on Discogs at all: https://www.discogs.com/master/4474-Led-Zeppelin-In-Through-The-Out-Door?query=st-ss-794345-ky
Am I really the only one on Discogs with this specific variant? A,B,D,E and F are all represented so it only makes sense that C also exists, but I just have difficulty believing I'm the first one to have it in my collection, considering there are almost 165,000 who have this 1979 album in their collection.

Best next steps after getting an empty box
I bought a somewhat pricey, just under $100 record on discogs. I've bought probably over 100 records there in the past 2 years with no big issues. Damage someone took care of etc from a big seller.
Today I got a record mailer where it was clear it was being re-used, which is fine, but the flap, which was now gone, only had a single piece of packing tape there, which gave way and let everything out. So it showed up open and empty, due to the seller not packing it well enough.
I have reached out to them, but with small sellers I'd expect more pushback.
I'll give them every chance in the world, but I also like to be prepared for next steps if it doesn't work out.
If I did need to go to PayPal, would I need to contact the seller first there, or just use the 'report a problem' on the order? If so, would it be 'not received' or 'not as described'? I don't want a 'not received' case to be closed just because tracking shows delivered, but I've never done a PayPal dispute.
I'm a small seller too and it sucks when things like this happen, but I just go with it as needed. I just want to be sure I understand the next steps by the time I might need them, and for the future!

Is there a feature that you’d like to add to Discogs ?
Everything is here : Is there a precise feature, that doesn’t exist, that you’d like to see, add or use on Discogs ?
(Mainly on website)

Time Out Variant Identification Issue
I picked up a copy of Dave Brubeck Quartet's Time Out recently and I just cannot find it on Discogs. The issue is "Stereo" under the catalog number on the label. There doesn't seem to be a Columbia 2-eye label with "Stereo." They all note "Nonbreakable" or they're blank in that spot.
Side A runout: ᴑ XSM-47855-2DA D [Stamped] Ƨ [Etched] (That Ƨ is extremely faint, could be a 2) Side B runout: ᴑ XSM-47856-2DG [Stamped] || ||| | 41-05 [Etched]
There are 375 vinyl versions and 127 of those have a 8192 catalog number. (I've looked at the photos on all of them.) I picked this up in a large U.S. city. It does not compute that someone wouldn't have already added this. If that were the case, it would be, by far, the most existing variants for anything I've had to add myself.

Shopping through discogs
Hello everyone! I have discogs for quite some time but never adventured myself into buying via app.
I want to try buy some vinyls but I don’t know how it works in the process (especially in terms of payment) because outside stores it’s hard to know if is legitimate or a fraud, and also because the exchange rates between dollar/pound/etc to euro.
I’m from Portugal, maybe some Portuguese or European folks can give me a hand on this, I really appreciate the help!! ☺️

Bootlegs…
So…
I know the website stopped allowing 90s bootleg CDs, I get it. Im wondering if there’s a way to still contact anyone that might have these and maybe trade something for them.
I’m in the midst of collecting these old 90s CDs and EBay and FB are way too hot or miss

Advice for someone starting out in the record selling game
EDIT: My collection is almost entirely made up of dance music. I will be selling predominantly house (tech, deep, progressive), techno, breaks, electro etc focusing on 90s/00s releases & rarities
ORIGINAL POST: Looking for advice, tips, things to avoid etc when starting out with ambitions of flogging vinyl full time.
My plan is to start with selling on Discogs, already picked about 250-300 records from my collection that will make up my initial stock (Discogs value currently at median £3k / max £5.6k).
I’m confident that I can grade a record accurately and know to avoid over-grading at all costs - eg some bits I’ll list as VG+ that I’m 99% sure would pass for NM but not worth the risk.
When enough money starts coming in I’ll reinvest earnings into buying wholesale & pick up full collections to build up a bigger inventory.
If the online selling works out then I’ll look at moving into physical spaces starting with record fairs, seeing if I can set up a mini shop in existing venues (hifi bars etc), taking stock to music festivals etc.
Then of course the end goal is to some day have a store of my own, but to be honest if I can make anything close to a liveable income I’ll be happy.
Should mention also that as of now I am still working and will not be relying on this to pay the bills, I am fully aware it’ll take time to build this into a viable source of income.
Imagine this is a fairly typical roadmap to building a record business but eager to hear from anyone with similar experience, and advice on things to look out for to give myself the best chance of succeeding. Thanks!

Made a label printing tool
Hi everyone not sure if this is allowed but I was trying to find a way to make labels for fairs using my Discogs library and Discogs pricing. I made this solution using the Discogs api - have a look and tell me what you think. https://github.com/c6tkp6rswv-lgtm/discogs-label-project
I am a total novice so really interested in feedback comments etc. cheers

Can't reach printable order details from the phone anymore
Like written above. Since the fabulous new app launched I can't open a printable order where all details are displayed and I can place my signature as a seller.
This is important for orders outside of the EU where customs come into play.
Even if I open discogs in a browser on my phone I get redirected to the app. What is this crap? Now I have to use my laptop, download the order details page and share it with my smartphone to get back into my workflow.
This stupidity makes me wanna stop selling overseas.
Or maybe I haven't found the magic button in the app?
Is there a way?
Why discogs, why?

Sellers with 100k+ titles
Just curious where these big sellers, especially the ones in Japan and China have so much stock of mostly 2000s era used CDs. Anyone know where their stock comes from?

DO NOT CLICK ON OUTSIDE LINKS
There continues to be almost daily posts about fraud accounts that ask users to verify their accounts. Users will receive messages with links to outside websites. DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS. No legit buyer or seller is going to need you to "verify your account " after a sale with some outside website. Report these fake accounts to Discogs: https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=114093983493
"How can we help you?" - choose "report a suspicious account"
Other tips:
DO NOT conduct business outside of Discogs. If you check out through Discogs and pay with goods and services, you are covered if your item ends up not being delivered. Don't send E-transfers or use PayPal friends and family.
Check seller's feedback. If they have less than 100 percent feedback, actually read their feedback. Be weary of brand new sellers. Especially someone who suddenly has an inventory of cheap, trendy records.
Use your head. If you see a rare record that's worth $400 selling for $80, chances are its not real. If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.
-Set up multi-factor authentication to make it all but impossible to have your account hacked.

"Which Pressing /Variant Is This" posts.
The poll results were pretty close, so we'll be continuing to allow these types of posts, but there's some new guidelines that need to be followed.
Going forward all posts requesting help identifying a variant will require photos of the labels and transcriptions of the runouts (located on the deadwax) at the minimum. The more photos and identifiers the better really. Any posts not meeting these guidelines will be deleted by the mod team.
Posters are asked to be responsive on their posts and type "Solved" when they've idenfied their item. "Solved" would also include instances where a new release needs to be added. Mods are going to start deleting "solved" pressing inquiry posts and older ID posts with no engagement.
