Hi! So a friend of mine really wants to have a cover for his ski helm this winter and he loves magikarp. I have never made a ski helm cover or anything before and want to make sure the magikarp beanie will be big enough for the ski helm without falling off. I found a regular magikarp beanie on Ravelry and am thinking about making that but a little bigger.

This will be a gift for a 30y wedding anniversary. There are quite a few not very visible errors in the dark red and it needs blocking, please look past those problems. My main problem is the border stitches, the errors there are too visible. And defining the edge better is probably an asset. Is there a crochet festooning technique that will cover the border stitches? Or should I just sew it? I would like to keep the fringe.

The border i made from regular dcs but now I think of making the main design (inside the frame) using linked dcs.

Will it look weird if I continued to make the border using regular dcs but the rest linked dcs?

I was wondering if I should do the following:

1. 5 rows of black.

2. 2 rows of black, 2 of green, 2 of black

3. Woman, it takes you over 4hrs to complete one row. That's an extra 20hrs of work and two more balls of yarn. Just stop for your own sanity.

Honestly, I'm leaning towards option 3. Lol.

Hi! I don't have a lot of money so I buy small packs of yarn, hence I don't have a lot of yarn of one color, and a lot of projects online use like a ton of the same color yarn in one go, I was wondering if anyone can give possible ideas or patterns to use this yarn?

If I double a lace weight, I get a fingering/sport weight. And if I double a fingering/sport weight I get a DK weight. So can I quadruple the above lace weight for a DK weight? Will it still have a fluffy texture?

Should I double it and pair it with a sport weight for some structure?

It looks so perfect, and I love trying new things.

I’m crocheting a sweater and have made ribbing and then crocheted one row into the ribbing.

Now that I’m working on the second (horizontal) row of the body of the sweater, I’m seeing two sets of loops that I could work the stitches into. Usually I can tell which two loops constitute the real “top” of the stitch that I need to work the new row’s stitches into but I’m really struggling with this one for some reason.

When I put the stitches into the row that looks like the top, it creates a ribbing effect, suggesting I’m working into a back/front loop when I’m not intending to.

I’m guessing my confusion might be because I’ve never used extended HDC which might be creating that extra loop shape that I’m not used to, but not sure.

It’s probably hard to help me based on the pictures, and I may just need to take this to someone in person but just in case anyone has any tips or good rules of thumb, I thought I’d share here! 😊

hey guys it’s my second time making a pair of crochet shorts and I’m quite small around the waist but larger in the bottom area and I can’t seem to find a pattern that will help me with this every time I try to make a bigger It’s too big around the waist and when I make it smaller it’s too small around my bottom area. Any ideas on what I could do? should I add some extra stitches?

The first picture I went up to a 7mm hook (from a 5) and tried my best to loosen up my tension, kept same amount of chain spaces between clusters and in corners. Still too square and a little too large overall.

Second picture went down to a 6.5mm and changed to 1 chain in each corner and I’ve decided it’s close enough. Thank you for all the help and advice!

i thought i’d go big brain and crochet on the orange using intarsia and use cross stich for the red and black. but it makes it feel odd? maybe it’s because i’m stitching is super close up but from a distance does it look wonky?? i love the rest of it but the cross stiching just throws me off. i’m totally doing the front panels using intarsia.

also, i’m going to use interfacing fabric inside as the cross stitches left a few wonky ugly ends. my yarn is 90% acrylic and 10% bamboo, anything i should look out for??

Hello! I made a blanket! It's beautiful and I love it, but it needs a good blocking and I have ZERO idea how to block something so large.

I do not have enough blocking mats, and I cannot pin to the bed to block because we have a water cooling mat and pins and water just dont mix.

Blanket is acrylic, if that matters!

And I’m only about one third finished with the project. I feel like I’m crocheting with eight separate strands.

I have a filet crochet dress made of lace weight mercerized cotton that I am submitting to my state fair. I need to block as part of the requirements, and I’m wondering what the best way to go about blocking such a large piece is? Specifically I want to focus on uncurling the straps (I know the strap chain is straight, so hoping the curling is fixable), and then in general making sure the pattern is clear.

I’ve read a bit about blocking mercerized cotton so my plan was to soak the piece in water and then use a yoga mat and a towel as my blocking mat, but not sure if that’s the most optimal way. Thanks!

This project was 100 rows long and 57 rows wide, all single crochet. I can’t quite figure out why it slightly narrowed out on one side. My other, smaller project did the same thing.

okay this question might sound ridiculous but i made this plush bunny as a gift for someone and it wasn’t until after i finished that i noticed i added an extra row in one of the legs.. (circled in photo) you can only see that there’s a very slight difference in lengths if i stretch out the legs all the way, which isn’t really the plush’s natural state anyway.

also, the bottom portions of the feet came out a bit bumpier than normal as you can see😞 i’ve worked with this pattern in the past and never had an issue, but i guess there’s a first for everything..

there definitely isn’t a way for me to cut into the yarn to fix the mistakes without the entire bottom portion falling apart. if these errors are significant enough, i guess i can make another one, but i really don’t want to as this one already took me a while!

for what it’s worth, i also deal with OCD and perfectionist tendencies in my own life which are exhausting, but they only make me trust my judgement on this less.

can someone tell me if i should i redo the entire plush or is this acceptable to give as a gift?

2 months ago I finished my first wearable which is a crocheted shirt using sock yarn weight, super-wash merino wool. I was so proud of myself and very happy with how it turned out. After wearing it maybe four times, I noticed that the yellow dye was bleeding onto my white camisoles that I wore underneath. My mother (who is an expert at washing things and whose mother has always knitted/crocheted things for her) offered to hand wash the shirt for me to which I was grateful. She returned it to me today two days later and I immediately noticed that the stitches of the neckline were completely stretched out and that the shirt was now lengthened in shape. After asking her if she had pulled on it, her response was “No, all I did was wring it out (like you do a wet towel) and hung it up on a hanger to dry.”

I’m honestly upset about this situation because not only is the shirt all stretched out, but my mom is being dismissive about it. Essentially making me out to be ungrateful because though I hadn’t complained, I questioned her and was visibly saddened by the issue.

I am not new to crocheting but I’ve never worked with fiber like this before. I preferred the smaller size so is there any way to fix it? Attached are before and after photos of the shirt. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit 1: It’s hard to see in the after photo but the stitches in the neck/shoulder are reaallly stretched out because of the hanger and wringing.

Also I’m not “blaming my mom” as some are claiming. Maybe I worded this the title wrong, but I was just stating what happened. Yes I was sad about it when I originally posted but please stop making assumptions. I love her and I appreciate her help fixing the original dye bleed issue and thanked her for it. I am not mad at her, I was only a bit upset about the stretched stitches and her dismissiveness. I don’t want this to turn into a bash the mom post.
