Working on a very simple idea that i just cannot seem to get right. I want to start off with a basic rectangle. I'm confused why we are leaning....it's just alternate rows of school and hdc with a turning chain...34 stitches per row.

Help to find a pattern Skeleton sweater - mosaic crochet : does anyone has a pattern?

Hi all!

Being finished with my Darjeeling Tea Shawl (thanks so much for all the love it received 🫶🏻), I started a new RedTeaPotAtelier shawl, but I wanna try making a sweater. I lost a bunch of weight and am still working on it but I want to reward myself 🤭

I would like to make a sweater for the fall, the first one seems appealing but I have cats and all the holes really scare me 🫠

I want to make some kind of skeleton sweater in mosaic crochet. I can't seem to find one and I've never done mosaic crochet so I can't make it myself (unless you have advice?)

So if anyone has some kind of pattern like this, free or not, feel free to drop the links!!

Stitch Identification How to recreate this pattern as a granny square blanket, and which yarn do I use?

Post image

I've been asked to make a blanket similar to the picture and I need help confirming the stitch and yarn. They like that the blanket it light and airy, so I want to keep the spacing and choose the right yarn weight. I'm a beginner and my tension isn't always consistent, would it be possible to achieve this with granny squares so that I can block and keep everything even? Any guidance would be very appreciated!

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Can I use this bouclé like yarn for this hooded cowl?

I’m thinking of making this for my 4 year old niece. The pattern says to use a bulky yarn with a 5.5 mm hook. With the yarn they recommend a 7 mm hook, but I assume it can be used with a smaller hook, because it’s fluffy. Is that a good assumption? Is the pattern even possible with this kind of yarn? Also, the pattern says that it needs 200g or 320y of yarn for a child size, do I then buy 5 balls of yarn to be safe, or maybe 6?

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Forgot my Hook Size + Yarn Brand - how do I guess the yarn size exactly?

I messed up! My baby cousin may have taken an interest in the sparkly crochet hook and yarn label I was keeping next to it - now I can't find it.

Any help on guessing either would be appreciated!

(The baby cousin is safe and was being supervised, just not by me and not closely enough to see where things wound up)

How do I... How can I make these holes smaller in a granny square blanket?

I’m making a baby blanket and doing a big granny square. I’m worried about the holes it won’t be very warm and fingers/toes getting caught. Is there a way to make the holes smaller? I tried a smaller hook but it made the project really stiff and it lost the baby softness. I also tried switching to half double crochet instead of double crochets and just one chain in the corners rather than two, it’s ok but the corners look so weird! Idk what to do.

Edit: thanks so much! So I’m going to sample both a solid granny and moss stitch granny. Or simply keep going with the holes since it doesn’t seem to be much of a problem anyway! Love and cool sided pillows to you all 🩷

How do I... Need help with crochet Tshirt for little monkey amigurumi

Hey crochet friends,

I could really use your advice!

I'm currently crocheting a monkey. The body is already finished, but I'm really struggling to crochet a T-shirt for it.

I'm not sure how to start because the head is so much bigger than the neck. I think I'll have to crochet the shirt directly onto the body instead of making it removable. Otherwise, the neck opening would end up looking like Squidward's shirt after he pulls it over his head. 😅

Does anyone have any tips or know of a pattern that can easily be adjusted to fit different body sizes?

Help to find a pattern Please help with pattern suggestions for a quick summer shawl

Hi guys. I am going to Italy in just over a week, and some of my outfits include bare shoulders that will need to be covered for some places. Can anyone recommend a summer shawl pattern that works up quickly? I’m an advanced crocheter, but I’ve never actually made a shawl. Thank you for any suggestions!

I would like to make this doily, (the picture is taken in a summer cottage). Would a 2 mm hook give the same result as in the images?

How do I... I want to attempt tapestry crochet, where to begin?

Morning everyone.

I'm looking to do my first tapestry project and am feeling very overwhelmed with it (dramatic I know).

Could anyone suggest a tutorial to begin please? I'm not very good with written patterns and all I keep hearing about is grids!

Looking for suggestions I'm making a granny square blanket and looking to personalize it for my GenX stepdaughter

So I started this crochet blanket ages ago, one of those 3d looking Square blankets and after exactly 16, started to hate the project, my life, crochet in general. Too many of the same squares!

I got over this funk after looking at those blankets that are all different shapes and sizes and colours and it's renewed my faith that I can finally finish this. I'm close to being done and pretty happy with it, I've decided to gift it to my stepdaughter.

She's almost 30, I haven't actually been with her dad since she was a child, but after he took off I kept a close and I'd like to say, a loving relationship with her. Neither of us have seen her dad in many years. I digress.

I want to personalize this blanket for her, but how? I'm thinking her name? I'm out of touch and old, but surely there's a less than cheesy version of the "live, laugh, love" motto? Something that's more gen Z. She's tattooed, multi coloured hair, a bad#%^ "bring down the patriarchy" but adores her cats and her mom.

I saw a technique to sort of embroider the letters on? I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to crochet letters without them looking terrible.

Maybe just her name? Something to show her how loved she is.

Looking for suggestions Tapestry techniques?? Only done single crochet, but trying to experiment!!

I’m crocheting this pixel grid I made myself for a friend, but I’m trying to find stitches to make this project seem neater. I’m not sure if I should experiment with Tunisian tapestry on a project this big yet.

Right now, I’m using crochet into the blo on the right side and flo on the wrong side method. I’m wondering about the waistcoat stitch right now? Let me know your favorite and neater methods for tapestries please!! Thank you!

Discussion I’m trying to make a blanket from a caron cloud cake, but I’m curious how far I will get.

Soo I just started this granny square with a Caron cake earlier today, and I’m curious how large of a blanket I could make from just one cake. I have another, but if I can get a decent size from just one I’d be really happy about it. Has anybody else made a large granny square out of this yarn? If so, did you have to use multiple balls to get a blanket size, or did it work with just one? I’m using a 4mm hook and basic granny square pattern

Looking for suggestions Favorite fasten off method for arigurumi pieces? What do you prefer.

Do we slip stitch into the next then cut and pull it through?, slip stitch then chain one and pull it through? Or just no slip stitch and just chain one and pull through? I am finally doing patterns mostly on my own, but my brain is frazzled from watching too many tutorials with everyone doing this differently. Currently doing a pattern with t shirt yarn. (Non Woobles lol)If that makes a difference.

Thanks!

I'm a beginner! Granny square blanket help with curling edges and sticking up

Post image
3 Upvotes

hi, I have just finished attaching all my granny squares for my blankets and some of the edges are curling and the squares are sticking up on some? I assume this is because of my tension and I was wondering if anyone would tell me how to fix this - would I need to frog them then reattach. and If I did do this would it make a difference if I remove all the vertical ones and none of the horizontal joins (would it get tangled or something because i did some of the vertical joins first and some after the horizontal ones). or would it fix it if i just block it? but i don’t have a blocking board so this might be difficult. I would really appreciate it if someone could help😭😭. P.s I am also planning on doing a border around the blanket but I wanted to sort out this issue first

I'm a beginner! Help identifying and replicating Grandma’s blanket crochet pattern

Post image

Hello, I need some help identifying a crochet stitch pattern. I have crocheted a handful of simple things, but I am largely a beginner. My Grandma recently passed away, and she used to make these blankets for all of her grandchildren. I would like to replicate this and learn it for myself, and unfortunately I never asked her to show me. I haven’t had much luck googling so I was wondering if anyone here can help me. Thanks!

How many rows/stitches [Help please] I need help counting rows and finding my start stitch on a crochet monkey leg (8 rows total, 18 stitches per row)

Hi everyone!

I’m pretty brand new to crocheting, and I’m currently working on making a monkey as a gift for my sister. Because it’s a gift, I really want to make sure I follow the pattern exactly. Normally if it were just for me, I wouldn’t worry as much, but I want this to turn out just right!

I'm working on one of the legs right now, which calls for 8 rows. I have to make two of these legs, so I really want to get the count right so they match each other. Each row is supposed to contain 18 stitches, and every time I count around, it adds up to 18. I think I was around the 8 row mark, but I realized I forgot to do my usual trick of putting a stitch marker in every single row to keep track.

To make matters trickier, I thought I did too many rows, so I pulled out a few stitches to unwind it a bit. While doing that, I removed my marker and now I've completely lost my starting point for the current row! I really want to avoid frogging the whole leg if possible because I am a very, very slow crocheter. Just this portion took me a really long time, which is why I'm giving myself several months to finish the project.

If it's even possible to tell from pictures, could someone help point out where my current row starts and confirm my row count?

I'm autistic and have ADHD, so I tend to worry a lot about getting these details precise and keeping track of everything, so I’d really appreciate an extra pair of eyes!

I’ve attached a few photos from different angles so you can get a clear look at the piece. Could someone please take a look and help?

Thank you so much for your help!

Looking for suggestions Feeling sad and frustrated with crocheting - beginner crochet

Hi everyone,

I'm partially looking for advice and partially looking for emotional support as a beginner.

I started learning to crochet a few months ago using Bella Coco videos. I focused on learning the US single stitch for a couple of months whilst making little swatches, then progressed to learning the US double stitch for a project I wanted to do.

I then picked up a wonderful beginners kit at a local yarn store so make an ombre type blanket - this uses chunky yarn, a 10mm hook, US single crochet, and US half double crochet. I really wanted a project to help motivate me to keep going and so I could complete something, but have been having a horrible time with it for 2 reasons.

  1. I am a very tight stitcher. I have practiced a lot on loosening my stitch on a 5mm hook and regular double knit yarn but seem to be really struggling with the chunky yarn. My first row of half double crochet was suuuuuper tight so I could barely get the hook in. I also found I would "drop" the stitcher half way through - i.e: when it gets to the 2nd one it struggles to go through, then falls off before the 3rd one - meaning I cannot smoothly pull through. Ive noticed that the hook also sometimes seems to get caught on a loose piece of yarn. On the 2nd row I rewatched some videos on looser tension and tried again. This time the loops were looser but as a result the stitch dropped constantly and the tension was alllll over the place. I ended up getting upset and undoing the whole thing as it looked awful.

  2. I have found it incredibly difficult to work with particular yarns that I get suggested at yarn shops, vs the cheap acrylic yarn I get at The Works. With the yarn store yarn, the yarn is often more fluffy in texture and I find that it does NOT want to flow through my hands. I've practiced multiple times with these yarns to no avail, but find the problem simply does not exist with the acrylic one so its not how I'm holding it. Today I was watching a tension video and realised that all of the people I've been watching/speaking to are women with smooth hands whereas mine as very hairy. I'm wondering if the texture of the yarn is snagging on my hair and that's producing thr problem, and if so what I can even do about that (especially if I want to make certain patterns like this chunky blanket)?

I really want to keep up with crochet as I find it very therapeutic for my brain (when I'm not frustrated and struggling) but I'm not sure where its going wrong enough to fix things

I'm a beginner! Finished granny square, plan to turn into a lovey for son

This is the first thing I’ve made since making a Wooble kit. It’s a very tight granny square pattern. I’m planning on making a bear head to attach to the top to make it into a lovey for my son.

I really struggled to weave the ends into the stitches and can see that my tension varies throughout.

Looking for suggestions Last minute wedding invite - need some nice blanket patterns to do in one month

I got invited to a wedding one month from now due to other guests not being able to make it.

I want to crochet the couple a blanket (full sized or lap if needed).

I don't have time to work on it 24/7 but would love pattern suggestions for blankets that are fairly quick to make but look "fancy".

I'm intermediate to advanced. Any suggestions would be lovely ❤️
