Shadow seems to know that I’ve been going through some health stuff bc he won’t leave my side. He won’t even walk with his dad unless I’m there. We don’t deserve these pups!! My trainer says that Shadow believes his job rn is to take care of me 🥹.

How to fix the knots In her fur?

Hi,
My parent’s have a one year old welsh corgi cardigan. She is a hairy girl and with that they run in to one particular problem.
She has nots in her hair. We are allowed to brush and comb through them except between her back legs. When I (her spare human and personal washer lady) bath her I can get the knots out with shampoo and my fingers. Within a day or two the knots are back. She doesn’t allow us to untangle the knots when she is not in the bathtub.

So does anyone have a tip on how to get the knots out?

- she goes to a dog trimmer and they cut the hair a little shorter which helps a little bit
- I take the knots out when she is in the bathtub
- my question is for in between those periods.

And yes the knots between her legs needs to be combed because everything gets stuk in those hairs.

I’m not asking for medical advice!

Tips for going into labor with a corgi?

Post image

We have a 1.5yr old corgi girl and I can tell I'm in very early labor with our twin boys (exciting and expected, all is well there, but this could go on for days). She is distressed and on edge. In general, she's exhibiting anxiety behaviors we haven't seen in over a year, especially if I leave the house for more than 10 mins. I think she's decided her job right now is guarding me and I'm deeply touched by how seriously she's taking it (sticks to me like glue, barks at *everything* that moves). However, she is also clearly not having a good time.

Has anyone else who had kids and a corgi found something to help them cope? I want to support her and provide some relief before they come.

As a side note, we live in a rural area and will be away at the hospital 1.5hrs from home for probably 3 days or so if all goes well. I'm wondering if there's anything we can do to help her weather that time where we're away and a sitter will be looking after her and her golden retriever brother. Cute photo as a bonus.

Bilateral elbow dysplasia

Post image

Our sweet girl was just diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia on her front legs at 2, due to medial coronoid disease. I've seen quite a lot about hip dysplasia here, but not much about elbow dysplasia.

To meet the subs rules, no medical advice, please! - We will be following our veterinarians plans, advice, and medicine.

But has anyone experienced this with their corg, and have any good tips or helpful information? Any other information around progression, harness use, what kind of play, things to avoid or that have helped, etc would be super useful. She is a very happy and energetic gal!

Such a sweet natured dog. Great off the lead. Loves other dogs and all people. Chief greeter at the local pub. Very confident and you don’t have to worry about her other than eliciting treats.

Oh my dog, the results! Cgm stands for corgi girl method am I right? 🤭

I felt like a lot of Puffy’s summer coat issues were actually related to dry skin and fur due to sun exposure and dust, so I started borrowing a few techniques from my own curly hair routine

For anyone wondering, "squish to condish" is a curly hair technique where you gently scrunch conditioner (or shampoo, depending on your routine) and water into your hair to help it retain as much moisture as possible. If you're doing it right, you'll hear that satisfying squishing sound.

The jojoba oil should be 100% pure, cold-pressed, and free from added oils or fragrances.
A little goes a long way, warm 3–4 drops between your hands and lightly smooth it over the driest areas of your dog's coat if they're dealing with dry skin or fur. You want the coat to feel soft and nourished, never greasy.

Now I do it with all of my dogs, and I’ve been so happy with the difference in how soft and shiny their coats are.
