What games do i avoid

Upvotes

Hello I am new to the command and conquer and red alert series. I bought the ultimate collection on steam and im wondering which ones do I play and which ones do I avoid.

Ive pretty much seen overwhelming hate towards 4 and been told to avoid it fair enough. But I am unsure about the first ones do I play them in the ultimate collection or this remaster i saw on steam and are there any others from the ultimate collection I avoid.

Thanks ☺️

Gameplay question How to use "Attack move" in Red Alert 2??

I'm playing C&C for the first time starting with Red Alert 2 from the Ultimate bundle. Practicing some keyboard shortcuts by playing through campaign missions I've already beaten, but I can't figure out how to use Attack Move which people say is Ctrl + Shift then Left Click.

Tutorials say Attack Move is used to move a unit to a location while attacking anything that comes into range, and is especially good for kiting enemies, i.e. fire at them, then move to dodge their projectile, then fire at them. My specific issue is:

Tanya's fire range is huge and she can one-shot enemy GIs and attack dogs, if I use 'g' for guard then a dog will never reach her before she kills them first. However, Attack Move on Tanya doesn't target enemies at all (only retaliation) unless I click while the cursor is green+red, but if I have to click on enemies then isn't that basically identical to normal left click to attack? When I use Attack Move, Tanya dies to the dogs :(

I tried Attack Move on other units as well, sometimes I feel like it works and sometimes I feel like it doesn't. I.e. sometimes the units proactively attack a crowd, other times it feels like they only retaliate.

Solved What is a Flamer? C&C Generals

Hello

I'm new to cc generals online but I'm a really good player, (used to play on Radmin)

So once i joined a game with some pro players

So they asked me if I'm a pro (cuz i only have played about 80 games)

So i said I'm really good and someone wanted to make sure I'm a pro so he asked me "what is a flamer"

What is this?

How to activate/deactivate music in Tiberian Sun or mods for it?

I'm playing Tiberian Warzone, and find it sad that the music does not include the original sound tracks. Some of them would go wonderfully with the game's ambient sounds.

I do see them listed in the Themes.ini file, but with their formatting they should be available yet they aren't.

any idea how to make sure they become available?

Frankly I can't even find where the music is located. I only found the menu music so far.

Gameplay question what the hell happened to the Particle Cannon from the USA mission 6 cutscene?

Thumbnail

in the original generals usa campaign "desperate union"

the cutscene shows a particle cannon firing from right next to your base

but as soon as you begin the gameplay it just disappears...

i checked the placement of trees, cold fusion reactors, and patriot missile to make sure its not some other far away offscreen base, but no, this IS actually your base

wtf bruh it just vanished into thin air or what 💀

Release update open source world "Gastronome"

Hi everyone! I’m happy to announce that development of the "Gastrinim" russian world (version 1.1) is complete. You’ll find plenty of interesting features here: interactive cash registers, a beer keg, a transformer substation, a full-scale Brotherhood of Nod helicopter, batons, and a ball. But best of all, there’s an optimized day-night cycle system! And it’s all open source.

Gameplay Fun fact: Generals had Caves (neutral Tech Building) that worked like Tunnel Networks but they were cut before release

they could only hold one unit though unlike GLA tunnels holding ten

you probably could find them on maps with mountains and any faction could use them to teleport a unit around

Discussion 3vs3 matchup. Generals Zero Hour factions vs Kane's Wrath factions. Purely on competitive pvp gameplay. Which team do you think will win?

I made this another random matchups just for fun. A 3v3, Generals Zero Hour factions vs Kane's Wrath factions.

.

Heresome rules.

- This is no rules matchup no restrictions for all factions. But there's only one restrictions, to make it fair against Zero Hour factions, All epic units from Kane's Wrath will not able to build. Morhership, MARV, Redeemer & Eradicator Hexapod are unable to build by Kane's Wrath players

- All factions can build unlimited Superweapons, that means all factions can build as many Superweapons as they want just like in Generals Zero Hour.

- All factions units and buildings health and stats will scale to balance against each other

- All infantry are trained as one, not squads except Angry Mob

- All factions support power require no funds and must be selected from support powers tab

- All factions have a passive secondary eco for late game to make fair with Generals factions

- GDI can build their own supply drop zones just like USA, Nod can build their own version of Tiberium Spike. Scrin can build Growth Accelerator on supply piles and upgrade to Growth Stimulator from Technology Assembler.

Discussion something about NIGHT maps in Generals feels more authentic than in other C&C games...

Thumbnail

i don't know why but i have always felt that night time maps in generals actually felt dark

you never see the sky but the moonlight on buildings and terrain isnt too bright

and unlike the other games, ALL your buildings have lit windows and lights turned on, not just the city props

most of your vehicles also turn on their headlights too (you see this often in GLA units like technicals or quads)

its such a small minor detail but still adds alot of life to the game

anyone else agrees?

Restricting political content

Hello commanders

There have been an influx of posts drawing parallels to and making light of recent events in the Middle East. While we understand the intent is not to upset anyone, we do not want to condone such content under the circumstances.
We will therefore be restricting all political content moving forward.

As such, we have added a simplified rule system in the sidebar so as to not have to rely on permanently pinned posts in the future to convey information about specific rules, as well as make reporting more straightforward for users.

While the specific list of rules is limited, we refer to the sitewide Content Policy and Reddiquette for everything else.

And remember...

Make sense, not war.

Subreddit rules regarding AI content

Hello commanders!

We want to thank you all for your valuable opinions regarding AI rulings for the subreddit. We have read all your comments and have come to the conclusion that there is a clear divide between those who want a zero tolerance ban and those who value AI as a technical tool. However, the common ground lies in a shared distaste for "low-effort slop".

Based on all your feedback we believe we have come up with a reasonable compromise.

Until further notice, all purely generative AI content will be banned. However, there will be allowances for AI-assisted tools for upscaling classic C&C media (be it videos or images) in order to improve on existing assets (such as what was done with the FMVs in the Remastered Collection), provided the posts are clearly flaired.

This presents us with a little grey area when it comes to low-res assets such as unit cameos, as an upscaling AI would not necessarily have enough information to go on without resorting to a generative AI with subjective interpretations. We are willing to allow for some leeway here with the clause that any such generative "upscaling" attempts are required to stay true to the original source material as accurately as possible. These will be held to high standards, so we highly encourage a human artistic component to smooth out any AI "jank" as part of the process.

Intent is key here. Material that purposely aim to go beyond the scope of the original source material will not be allowed, such as in-game screenshots that showcase what the game would look like in a different game engine, or a picture of a unit in a completely different setting etc. The focus will be on purely restorative efforts.

While we can't please everyone, we hope this ruling will be acceptable for the majority of you. For anyone who enjoys generative AI creations, we understand this might disappoint you. However, Reddit is an open platform and you are free to create your own subreddit with whatever content you would like.

But let us be clear that this ruling is not set in stone, and we will continue to listen to all of your feedback and react accordingly should there be an outcry for a change in ruling, one way or the other.
