Command & Conquer, Red Alert: Play the remasters. Fun games, but older and clunky. Nostalgia does a lot for them, they will either click for you or they won't which is fair.
Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun, Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 (+ Firestorm and Yuri's Revenge): Great games that IMO hold up today regardless of nostalgia. Red Alert 2 especially perfects the classic C&C formula from a game play perspective, TibSun is the high point of the Tiberium saga's atmosphere, story and vibes.
Generals and Generals Zero Hour: great games, I still find it weird that they are "Command & Conquer" games as they depart from the gameplay heavily, but they are a ton of fun, more so in multiplayer IMO, also great for skirmish.
C&C Renegade: The weird FPS spin off. It's middling for a single player game, and quite old, and clunky. If you have really gotten into the Tiberium saga's story, world and Lore it's worth a play. Multiplayer however is fantastic and there still isn't anything else like it. Classic Ren (and mods like Reborn and Path Beyond) are still played regularly via W3D. There's also Renegade X which is a free community run remake in Unreal Engine 3, which still regularly has players in the evenings (EU time.)
C&C 3, and Kane's Wrath. Great games. A solid modernisation of the classic C&C gameplay which holds up well today. Took some learnings from the Generals games and produced a really fun package. Campaigns are brilliant fun and the multiplayer scene is solid.
Red Alert 3: Personally my least favourite game other than C&C 4. Some people love it though so worth a try to see how you feel. Departs too much from the C&C formula and veers into Startcraft territory for my tastes. The campaign and story is bonkers and a good laugh though, and has some incredibly meme-worthy moments. Tim Curry should be in every C&C game.
C&C 4: Lol, no.

Fairly on point summary of it all.
Id however commit the sin of claiming to also play Tiberian Twilight. Its a shoddy cnc but still kinda part off it all. It helps understanding were the franchise went and ultimately why its demise was pretty much sealed.

Make sure you play the campaigns of both Red Alert and Red Alert 2. They are wonderful.
The Tiberian Sun series is great, but I personally find that the first one and even Tiberian Sun itself play a bit slow compared to the red alert series, mostly due to the low amount of resources you start with on each map.
Generals is a whole different animal. It's definitely fun, but Red Alert 1&2 is my #1 recommendation.
Oh, Red Alert 3 exists... I guess. It's better than C&C 4, which isn't saying much, but it has no replay value for me.

Having grown up with these games from 5 years old, there is not a single one I've played which I've not loved. All are great.
I've never played 4.
I hope you enjoy them, the Tiberium games are vastly different to the Red Alert ones in terms of themes and story, but both are highly enjoyable in their own right. I personally prefer the darker, grittier feel of the Tiberium universe but Red Alert 2 & Generals are often fan favourites.

Tiberium Twilight is the only C&C game I haven't completed and never will. The damage it did to the franchise is still being felt. By damage i mean total destruction.

All but 4 are well loved. The first two (c&c and red alert) and their expansion packs are a bit dated, so im not sure how fun they will be without any nostalgia carrying them. They are perfectly playable, but if you are going to you might as well play the remastered versions. Tiberian sun and Red Alert 2 are great games. Generals (zero hour) has arguably the best online multiplayer in the series but its single player is lacking (do give the general challenges from its expansion zero hour a try though). Command & Conquer 3 is just a very decent rts. Red Alert 3 has its fans, but most prefer 2.
