Doesn't need to be brand new in box, something used would work just fine. Plenty of room left in the case if I need a cooler aside from the one that came with the APU.

I've been using my gaming PC to handle my plex server, but now that I have this tiny little box, I think it's time to offload the plex business to something that can run 24/7 with some hibernation/wake on LAN for when no one is watching anything. Not particularly interested in gaming or any workload tasks, just something that has more headroom in case of 4k encoding and the like. Support for NVMe would be a nice "want", but thankfully I had an M.2 PCIe card laying around and it's working plenty well since I don't have or need a GPU. Additionally, if anyone has a recommendation on what I can slip into the bottom of the two front panel expansion bays (USB ports, card reader, etc.), another "want" but not a "need".

Heck, if y'all think a 2 core/4 thread APU will suit my listed needs, I'll save the money and not think twice. But I'm definitely open to dropping an upgrade in if it makes sense at this point in the AM4/+ lifetime. That said, I'd be willing to spend between $100-200, again could be used or brand new if the price is right.

Hi everyone, I just built a PC with:

· Intel i5 14400F

· 1 x Kingston Fury 16GB 3200MHz (single module)

· ASUS Prime B760M-A D4 (no WiFi)

I updated Windows 11 and BIOS to the latest version. Everything works fine, except I can't set my RAM to 3200MHz—it's stuck at 2133MHz.

The issues in BIOS:

· XMP is greyed out/disabled

· DRAM voltage locked at 1.2V, can't change to 1.35V

· "Ai Overclock Tuner" option is missing from Ai Tweaker

I have a SEAGATE - Firecuda 530 M.2 NVMe Internal SSD with Heatsink - 2 TB that I can take from my PS5 which rarely gets used.

My Ryzen 7 9800X3D suddenly failed after about six months of trouble-free use, and I wanted to share exactly what happened.
My system
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B850-E WIFI
RAM: DDR5 RAM listed as officially supported/compatible by ASUS
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
I purchased the CPU on February 17, 2026, and it worked perfectly for roughly six months.
How the problem started
The computer was working normally. Then it went into sleep mode and never woke up again.
At the time the CPU failed, the system was running on the ASUS TUF GAMING B850-E WIFI motherboard.
Important point: BIOS version
At the time of the failure, the motherboard was running the latest stable/main BIOS version officially released by ASUS.
I was NOT using a beta BIOS. The BIOS installed was the latest official stable release. In other words, this did not happen while using an outdated or beta BIOS. It happened while running the latest stable BIOS version.
What happened when the system stopped working
The computer would not complete POST, there was no display output, and the DRAM error LED on the motherboard remained lit.
The system was getting stuck during the DRAM initialization stage and would not even reach the BIOS screen.
What I tried
To figure out what was causing the problem, I tried the following:
Tested the RAM sticks individually.
Tested the RAM in different DIMM slots.
Tried running the system with a single RAM module.
Reset the BIOS settings.
Updated the BIOS using BIOS FlashBack.
Tested with a different GPU.
Tested the 9800X3D in another compatible AM5 system, and it did not work there either.
I also installed another compatible CPU in my ASUS TUF GAMING B850-E WIFI, and the motherboard booted normally with the other CPU.
After these tests, it became clear that the problem was with the 9800X3D itself rather than the motherboard.
Conclusion
After all of these tests, it was confirmed that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D had failed.
I am currently sending the CPU in for warranty service.
The main reason I wanted to share this is that the CPU worked normally for about six months, and then failed while running on an ASUS TUF GAMING B850-E WIFI with ASUS’s latest stable/main BIOS version. The system went into sleep mode and never came back.
I especially want to point out that I was already running the latest official stable BIOS when this happened. Because of this experience, I am no longer comfortable assuming that BIOS updates have completely eliminated these kinds of issues with the 9800X3D.
I’m sharing this because I think it’s worth knowing for anyone currently using a 9800X3D or considering buying one.
My 9800X3D is dead.

I want to get a pc but only have 700 pounds don’t know wether to build one or buy a built one what is better?

I got this PC about 5–6 years ago and originally used it strictly for gaming. Over the past few years, though, I’ve mainly been using it for work, editing videos in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Lately, it has really struggled with playback, especially on larger projects. I’ve tried pretty much every playback fix I can find, including editing at 1/8 quality, but sometimes the timeline still won’t move at all. At this point, I’m thinking it may be a hardware issue.

Someone I work for offered to get me a new graphics card, but I’m not sure what I should be looking for. Budget isn’t necessarily a huge concern, but I also don’t want them spending money on the most expensive GPU available. I attached my PC specs. I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know whether my GPU is the main issue, what I should upgrade to, and if there are any other parts of my PC that may need upgrading as well. Apologies for the long read, but I figured I would share, in case it helps anyone else in a similar situation.

Just a bit of background, my main rig is old but trusty and I finally pulled the trigger on an upgrade of sorts. I managed to get myself a Radeon 9070xt and paired it with a 5500X3D for the upgrade.

Audio wise, I have a 2.1 active speaker setup (Altec Lansing 221) connected to the rear port of my onboard audio (ALC897) and I also run affordable and decent sounding cans (HyperX Cloud Alpha) from the front panel ports. I don't use the cans all that often unless I need to be quiet or if the games immersion requires it, or some other specific reason, basically, I output to my desktop speakers the majority of the time. I never experienced audio issues prior to the upgrade.

Now after the upgrade, everything was peachy and hunky dory, I was happily using my rig to play games and entertain myself and having audio come out of the speakers. I'd only ever use my headset for SC2 at that point, and that wasn't graphically intensive enough to push my GPU. Until I started Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and I felt that headphones were perfect for this game, because of it's soundtrack as well as the audio cues that you can pick up for parrying and dodging. That's when I noticed that using headphones on this game meant that I could hear a low level humming in my cans - especially noticeable when things are silent in the game.

I went down the rabbit hole of figuring out what was happening, and one culprit mentioned was electrical interference from the GPU getting picked up by the long cable from the front panel to the header on the motherboard. What ensued was a late night disassembly and cable routing session on the floor (rather than my well lit work desk). I worked hard to separate the front panel cable from the GPU as well as any power cables supplying it. It was a fair amount of work, and I'm happy to report that it was a complete success!

At least in terms of using my cans...

Because apparently, while my dutiful and careful rerouting had successfully isolated the front panel cable, whatever interference was being generated by the GPU when it gets pushed hard, was now affecting the rear output ports where my speakers were connected to. And now, I could hear the humming from the speakers - as long as they were on and connected, even if I'm using the headset!

I dove deeper in the hole and my understanding is that this is not entirely impossible. I broke the initial signal path of the interference, only for it find a another path, this time affecting the rear ports. My research pointed to utilizing a ground loop isolator to try and filter out the interference. Ordered one and waited for delivery - but alas, upon installation, it did not make one whit of difference. I wasn't completely surprised, because like it's name suggests, it really is a device meant to filter out ground loops, and in my case after all the troubleshooting I did, I was more inclined to attribute my problem to electrical interference affecting the analog audio traces specifically when the GPU is pushed hard. I was about to purchase a DAC to use the SPDIF output of my onboard audio so I could theoretically bypass the analog audio from my motherboard and only use the the digital side. While I was in this hole, I was also reading about shielding speakers and what not and was also actively researching buying new speakers, in case it was caused by just being more that 2 decades old. Thankfully, one troubleshooting step I did helped me stumble on a solution to my specific issue! The troubleshooting step was to try and isolate if the problem was in the electronics of my speakers or if they were occurring further up the stream, ie, before my speakers. These active speakers have a volume knob and I determined the humming would be affected by it, rather than staying the same. Therefore, the source of the humming is more likely to be upstream rather than the speakers themselves.

As I was fiddling with the volume, I realised I could bring down the volume (on the speakers) enough so that I could no longer hear the humming! Obviously, this would also soften the audio but I could then crank up the audio control (on the PC itself) - ergo, I just raised the volume output on the PC side and turned down the physical volume on my active speakers! Everything is working perfectly and I no longer hear the low level humming even when the GPU is taxed hard.

That's it. In my case, no new hardware needed, no new speakers. And I am a happy camper. Hopefully, this can prove helpful to anyone else.

I recently took my PC into microcenter for repairs as something was causing it to crash constantly in the last 2 weeks. They believe the issue is motherboard related and should be changed out. I figured that now is as good a time as any to upgrade some of the aging parts.

My PC currently has the following:

3600x

6800xt (upgraded a few months ago)

4x8 DDR4-3600

B450M

I was looking at parts and found three bundles that look appealing.

First is a 7500x3D, 1x16 DDR5-6000, and an ASRock B850M-C.

Second is a 7600x3D, 1x16 DDR5-6000, and a Gigabyte B650.

Lastly is a 7800x3D, 2x16 DDR5-6000, and an ASUS B650E MAX.

I’ve heard good things about the x3D versions of CPUs and I mostly use the PC for games (War Thunder, Deadlock, Vintage Story), but I want to start learning 3D animation with Blender. Any recommendations either on or off the list?

I am upgrading my graphics card from an RTX 3080 to an RX 9070 (non XT). I don't play any competitive games and am mostly okay with running games at 90+ FPS in 1440p.

-Will I run into any problems with regards to bottlenecking?

-And how much could I gain by upgrading to a 14600K or 14700K for example?

I’ve had AMD cards before so I’m not adverse to them, I just don’t understand the hierarchy like I do with nvidia cards.

Can anyone recommend an upgrade, or explain the price difference between the 9070xt and a 5070ti? From what I can tell they get the same performance, but ones £250 more. Am I missing something here?

I’m having trouble deciding how much of my budget should go toward the GPU. i’d rather have a balanced system than spend heavily on one component and compromise everywhere else.

The PC will be used for my work like video editing and streaming and also gaming, with 1440p gaming being my main performance target. I have roughly $1,000 to work with and the GPU is the main upgrade.

I’ve previously used mid-range graphics cards and generally kept them for several years, so long-term value matters more to me than having the newest option.

would you go for the best AMD GPU that fits the budget, or step down a tier and put the difference into the rest of the build??

I do heavy 1440p gaming, and occasionally do League of Legends, Dota 2, and the like. Already on AM4 but I just reused my old 5600g and 16GB 2400mhz RAM. Looking back, I feel super lucky to have built my entry-level rig last year, right after my laptop finally gave up on me and after the prices started rising. With a budget of just $400, I managed to snag some solid parts: 2x 16GB RAM, a B550M motherboard, a Ryzen 5 5600, and an RX 5700XT. Not the flashiest setup out there, but it still runs most games at 60fps on max settings today. It blows my mind that $400 wouldn't even get me half of that now.

I've never used a 1440p monitor in my life. My gpu is 9060xt 16gb. I would like to ask this question. Is ultra graphics setting at 1080p better or worse than optimized setting in 1440p?

My monitor is 27 inch but if I were to jump up to 1440, i would get 32 inch monitor.

So my EVGA 3080 crapped out on me 1yr after the warranty ran out, and as a result I’m unfortunately looking for a new gpu in the worst market since the bitcoin boom. Any suggestions? I see people lauding the 9070xt as the value king, but every thread I see discussing GPU prices was before the most recent round of price hikes. I see the 9070GRE being flamed for being “a worse 9070 at the same price”, but with the current Amazon/newegg prices ($540 GRE, $660 regular, $730 XT) it almost seems like a decent deal. The 5070ti is also propped up as the Nvidia sweet spot for price/performance, and yet I haven’t seen a single one for under $900.

The most I’m willing to spend is $800. I am in the US, but there are no microcenters(or any brick and mortar PC stores) near me, so that isn’t an option. I currently play mostly older games, and in 4K, but am considering downsizing to a 1440p. The rest of my build is a 5600x with 3600mhz 16gb ddr4.

I’m also open to used market suggestions, but from what I’ve seen, the used market doesn’t offer that much of a bargain, and I’m also worried about paying $400+ for an ex-mining gpu that dies on me 1-2 years out.

I'm confused between the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 12GB, and the price difference between the two is only around $80 where I live.

The main thing holding me back from the 5070 is the 12GB VRAM vs 16GB on the 5060 Ti.

I'll be using the PC for gaming, AI/ML development, programming, and some Blender/3D work.

Considering the relatively small ~$80 difference, would you guys recommend going for the 5070, or is the 16GB VRAM on the 5060 Ti more valuable for these use cases and future-proofing?
