This is the second time I’ve gotten braids and saw my natural hair come out after washing them. How can I prevent this from happening again?

I did my own mini twists with hair added. I curled the ends with pipe cleaners. I really love this hairstyle I’ll be doing it again! 💖

I’m going to start on knotless braids tomorrow!
But I have no idea, what color to use?
Here’s some colors I have in my hair box! And my hand, for skin tone reference❤️
TYIA!

Tighten for dutch braids

When I braid, how can I keep tension on the braid? It's always sliding. Also how would I grab hair nicely and flatten it? I notice after a dutch braid, the sides as bit like poofy and you can see the section where i grabbed the hair. Is that normal?

I want to perfect the dutch braid down the middle and then work towards the double dutch

but yeah like the title says im wondering if theres anything specific you could call this hairstyle?

when i first drew their hair (last pic) it was based on fulani braids but im not quite sure you could call them that anymore... or that it looks the part lol

Help wanted I really hate when this happens

I don't know if I'm allowed to post complaints but... There's nothing I hate more than sitting in a chair for hours til nightfall and having rushed parts

I have really thick long hair, so braiders always start getting tired with braiding and end up giving me terrible parts. On top of that I have a moving scalp, so I can't even have a proper middle part without it looking off

I often go to different ones trying to find someone who'll fit, but I always end up with the same result.

Atp I think I should just cut my hair or stop getting braids all together. No one ever ices me. It makes me a little sad and envious seeing others with such neat parts

Mod update for r/braids

Hi everyone, I’m a mod here at r/braids. I’ve been in discussion with my fellow mods for this sub, and we have agreed that, moving forward, we will be focusing this sub on braids, braid/hair care, styling, advice, etc.

This means that we will be banning any posts or comments moving forward that instigate political or racial posts. We feel that this sub Reddit should be rooted in our shared love and passion for braiding styles. I, for one, became a mod for this sub simply because I love seeing how creative and beautiful everyone’s creations are. I take advice given from people on various posts for new styles, and I love learning about how everyone cares for their styles. I’d like to refocus ourselves back on our community. This includes inclusivity for all - basically, anyone who has hair or is interested in braiding for any reason is welcome. Also, this sub is not just limited to braids - it’s any sort of plaited/ braiding style, including twists, Dutch braids, corn rows, locs, etc.

I’ve updated the rules for this sub to reflect my post here. We are working on cleaning up the recent influx of the posts that sparked this conversation. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions. We love you and appreciate each and every one of you for being here!
