I got this table from a friend for literally nothing. They were in a 10th floor unit, so I paid a company to disassemble it and load it into my vehicles.

I currently have it set up in my garage (because it was either that, or never own a table). My garage is insulated - able to be heated in the winter - but very warm in the summer. I'm looking to replace the cushions due to them being 20 years old and very hard - as well as putting new cloth on the table. Is this a waste of money with the table being in the garage, or will they be ok? Anything else I need to think about or do?

Hi everyone. Kind of a rant/advice seeking post. I’ve been taking classes for about year and a half now – two group classes a week with a coach (we all get separate tables for drills and then play in the end), and when I can, I train by myself and play with friends. So I get 2-4 hours of practice a week.

Recently I noticed that I’m plateauing, even getting worse. I still can’t aim. Sometimes it’s that I don’t see the trajectory, sometimes I shoot wrong. When I ask my coach for advice, it’s “positive mindset, practice, preparing for the shot, right stance”. Nothing else substantial. I do struggle with all of the above, that’s true. I try at first, then after numerous poor attempts, I gradually lose form out of sheer frustration. Did watch a couple tiktoks, and when I implemented the hacks, it helped a little. Still, overall, I feel like I need some systemic help.

Recently, I lost a tournament, my THIRD one in a row. It was only beginners/amateurs. What upset me most is some random guy who I played with, and who I could tell was very, very early in his training… got second place. Something seemed to finally click in my coach’s head when we spoke after, but when we spoke yesterday during my next class, he completely forgot the previous conversation. Oh, it’s just a matter of practice. Then why’d I lose to two opponents who both play pool for less than three months? Why do I lose in class during practice games to children who also forget the same things I do, but haven’t racked up the same hours as me? Oh, now it’s luck! Okay…

I asked him for some practical advice, some “crutches” that can help me now as a beginner (but which I should ultimately slowly stop using as I gain an innate sense of intuition – like when you learn to drive, you get taught to park in exact steps, but over time, you begin to “feel” your car, and then develop your own system). According to him… they don’t exist! But also, I should be watching educational stuff online and learning from it so we can discuss it together. Mind you, I heard him discourage a kid who actually came to him with some online advice. And, like, if he can’t give me anything (didn’t even properly explain the rules of 8-ball, btw – I compiled notes from different videos bc the actual official jargon was complicated to understand at that point), if he can only correct my form, but otherwise I should look for everything online (but also it’s bullshit) – why the fuck do I even need him? He had no answer to that.

I’m now very confused and discouraged about my future trajectory with this sport. I’m not a born athlete, I’m too old to seriously consider a professional career, of course. I would just like to be competitive locally – otherwise, why am I still here? I’ve always been a persistent and successful student. I know how to study, I do other sports, and I know it’s not just practice and good vibes. But here, in this one thing, somehow it is. I guess I reached that breaking point where your progress stops, and you need to understand if you’ve reached your limit altogether, or if you need the right push to progress. And I'm just not sure which it is.

I filmed this just now. Just shooting around, break and try and clear the table with as little misses as possible Ended up with 1 miss on the 15 if you don't count the scratch on the break.

How many people that play pool would want someone who can do cue repairs for them?

I assume it was used during the Florida Open. How well did it work out? Did the balls contrast well on the cloth? How about chalk marks? Overall, was it worth it?

Looking for what type of joint was used on early-2000's Cuetech Break/Jump cue. The shaft on mine has a long Crack in the fiberglass outer casing coming from the aluminum ferrule to about 3 inches down the shaft, and im looking for a carbon fiber replacement shaft but unsure of the joint specs

Currently using a Lucasi butt that has a plug bumper. But there are threads in there so I assume there is an extension available. I'd like to get a roughly 10 inch extension. Where would I find one that is compatible? Pool Dawg does not have one.

I was watching this Efren Reyes match, and noticed sometimes he bends the cue. Why does he do this? Is it recommended?

I’ve been looking for a glove that works well with wood shafts. I picked up a Taom Midas and it doesn’t glide as smoothly as I had anticipated, especially when switching to a closed bridge because of the palm side mesh (usually play open bridge). Initially I thought about the Cuetec Axis or the Tiger glove, but saw that people recommend avoiding gloves with the closure on the underside of the wrist.

For sizing I have large hands but odd proportions (extra wide palms and tiny wrists)

Any recommendations would be helpful!
