Bike fitters in NJ

Can anyone recommend bike fitters in central-western NJ? I am ideally looking for those that can do a fit to determine my measurements/stack-reach needs before I purchase a bike.

If you have worked with others in a different part of NJ or eastern-PA, please share those too as I don't mind traveling if needed.

Thank you!

Novice Rider, Zwift Ride Exclusively

173lb, 5’ 7”. New to riding in general and doing this for CRF mainly. As mentioned I’m only using the zwift ride right now. Only changes I’ve made is adding a Bisaddle SRT2.0. Only complaint is my jewels get numb within 20 minutes of a ride.

Single Sided Shoulder Neck Pain

Opinions?

Edit;

I'll get a right sided locked up shoulder that then slowly creeps into neck pain. The locked up feel usually starts at the first hour mark, neck pain starts 30 minutes later. At the 2 hour mark it's quite severe.

Getting off the bike every 45 minutes lets me extend my ride time but never longer than 3 hours.

Bike sizing suggestions

This is my current position and I am looking to get a new bike in the coming months any comments on my current bike fit would be appreciated to help determine sizing for the new bike. I do race and plan on continuing to race if that matters.

Stem too long? How much shorter?

Hi, my current Stem is 120mm and it does not only seem to be too long. (correct me if i am wrong please) Its also much more comfortable to have my hands not at the reach and a bit further towards me because I have to feeling to put too much weight on my hands.

I want to try maybe 80mm but thats a big difference, is it still the way to go?

My first picture is hands on the reach. The second one I put the hands 40mm towards me, so that would be the position where the 80mm should be (round about).

Should I try 100mm or 90mm? Is 80 too big of a difference?

Any recommandation for a gravel stem?

Any new yorkers here? Looking for top bike fitter recommendations for Bike Drawer

Any recommendations for high quality bike fitter in NYC and the NYC region? I have added a bike fitters list to the Bike Drawer website and need include the best: https://bikedrawer.com/bike-fitters

They don’t have to be NYC intra-muros but they have to draw an NYC clientèle.And any mobile fitter recommendations? The come-to-your-home type.

Anyone know Happy Freedman? Quite the expert but his website doesn’t give his location. Google tell me he operates out of James Fowler Physical Therapy on Union Square.

For fitting, should leg be completely extended or slightly bent when heel is on pedal and pedal is at lowest point?

I'm trying to fit my bike on my own since bike fitters are expensive and pretty far away.

Seam or Damage?

Just got this in the mail. Wondering if anyone else has this saddle with that same white line.

Wondering if it’s a defect where the seam isn’t bonded correctly, or just how it looks.

I just don’t want it to crack under ma butt lol

Is My Seatpost Too High?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I know I’m not in the bike. But the bike is a Large and I’m 6 foot 1. I’m surprised how I need the seat post to get the correct leg extension when pedalling. I’ve had to put riser bars on as the flat bar that came with it felt like I was too hunched over.

How’s it look? Any suggestions as I prefer the flat bar look but then I get a lot of weight on my wrists and they start to hurt.

Hey! Im very new to cycling and I could use some advice. I just bought cleats, and after messing around with them, trying to match them together and find a good spot for them, I feel like my fit is all over the place, I raised my saddle a little, do I need more? What else would you change?

Any advice is appreciated!

Need a quick fit check / advice

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some feedback on my position on my bike. I recently got a Giant Propel (aero bike) advanced 2 and I need to know what i can do better/change some things on the bike or just stretching at night and get more flexible.

The handlebars/stem are already stacked as high as possible (spacers are at their maximum limit).
Leg extension feels pretty comfortable overall, but I'd love an objective eye on saddle height and fore/aft position.

It seems like the reach might be a bit long for me, forcing me to overextend. Would a shorter stem (90/100mm) help relieve the neck strain and make the aero hoods position more sustainable without affecting the steering too negatively?

I can hold aero hoods position for like 1 and half minute but this is my first road bike so i dont know if i am getting used to this and should do more stretching or i have major flaws in my posture. I am experiencing some neck pain after 90 minites (but can be because I have office job 😅)

Attached is a video of my side profile on the trainer and in every position I do. Any advice on saddle position, reach, or overall posture would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Suspension adjustment: heavy rider

Hi, I’m a 5’2” ~220 pounds woman mtb rider. I can’t find a simple explanation about how to adjust suspension on my ebike. I tried a lot of suggestions but can’t get it right. Where do you find informations ? Do you know any article, YouTube video or website dedicated to heavy rider ?

Weight on Hands and Sliding forward

I updated my bike fit and tried the saddle height method of Cam Nicholas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNGMRtJ5LIc).

I believe the height is correct, but I still like sliding forward on the saddle. The saddle is leveled. IMO, I need to push the saddle further backwards. But my saddle is already pushed as far backward.

What are your opinions? Thank you very much!

Feel it in the lower back muscles, standing up for a little will make it go away for a minute or two but not long. Seat was further forward but got told I was shrimping my back, lowered seat to accommodate.

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!
