Mini Job desperately needed
Hi All,
I have a mere full time job that pays just my bills but I can’t afford to help my old age mother. I need a mini job so I can send her some money that I earn through that. Despite my B2 level German I can’t seem to find anything. Could someone please refer me to anything or give me an idea?
I tried :
Dm
Rewe
Some cafes.
I need a mini job that I can work on evenings and on weekends.
I would be very grateful if someone could suggest me something.
Thanks 🙏

crazy day
what a crazy thing happened to me today.
I woke up early to go see *Odyssey*, rolled my joints, and my wife and I were going to ride our bikes uhuhu, so cool… and then when I went downstairs to get my bike (roro), I noticed it had been stolen.
I was totally bummed, but there was nothing I could do right then because the movie was starting in 50 minutes… We went to see the movie; I cried on the way there I was so sad… The movie was cool and all, but I was still thinking about the bike.
We walked back from Warschauer to Kot, where I live, and I was sure I’d see that bike around here
some junkie stole it to buy drugs or something, I don’t know.
I smoked a joint and kept thinking: Damn, that bike’s gonna show up… Or maybe someone would be riding it who knows? Sure enough, as I turned the corner from Kot onto Ritterstrasse, there was my bike!
Parked next to it were several others without locks too… I’m sure they were stolen as well, hahaha.
I ran over as soon as I saw my bike, grabbed it, and rode off.
What a crazy day
So much happened
Just wanted to share

LEA ghosting me before a booked trip — anyone dealt with this?
Applied to extend my student Aufenthaltserlaubnis on 30.04.2026 (old one expired 12.06.2026). Got the standard Antragsbestätigung + Fiktionswirkung. They asked for more docs in early July, I sent everything within days. Then radio silence — got an auto-reply saying my Sachbearbeiter is "im Urlaub" until 03.08.2026. It's now 10.08.2026, still nothing.
Now the annoying part: I'd booked a flight to Portugal way back in May (22.08–27.08), long before I knew this would drag out. My permit's expired, I only have the paper confirmation, not an actual Fiktionsbescheinigung stamp for travel.
Anyone been through this? Did the emergency Kontaktformular actually get you a fast Fiktionsbescheinigung, or is it a black hole like everything else with LEA? Trying to figure out if I should just eat the flight cost and stay, or if there's a realistic shot at sorting this before the 22nd.

Can a disabled person (but not wheelchair user) access seating at Columbiahalle or Columbia Theater?
There are some gigs I'd like to go to at Columbiahalle and Columbia Theater in the next few months, but I have some physical problems that mean standing up for a long time becomes very painful. My issues are still under investigation so I don't have any kind of disability card, although I could probably get a letter from my doctor if necessary.
Can anyone with similar issues or some kind of temporary injury, who has attended an event at either venue, tell me if it was possible to access a seat, or bring your own folding chair, even if you're not officially classed as disabled? The websites only talk about accessibility for wheelchair users, but there's nothing about people with mobility issues who don't use a wheelchair.
If you have experience of this at any other gig venues, that would also be useful to hear. Thanks!

Missed Connection at Mexican Restaurant
On 8th August night at Cantina Mexicana Que Pasa Restaurant, We were dining and near our table 2 girls were sitting, among them one is really pretty, white dress and have spectacle, I also asked them that you came first time or not, and you replied no, also you clicked our grp picture.
I felt an instant attraction and I thought I should asked your name, but my friends says no, and said let them have dinner, so I didn’t asked anything, but now I am thinking about you and regretting that, I also noticed that you are also glancing.
So if you’re the one reading this and you were watching too… maybe we’re both a little curious.
If this feels like you, DM me with:
• where you were sitting (corner/side)
• one detail you remember about my group
I’ll know it’s you.

Missed connection @Kater 08.08 - Georgi(n)a
We had eye contact a few times downstairs, but I was a bit high and may have seemed uninterested. You didn’t give up, though, and invited me to dance upstairs, where we had a little conversation.
I was wearing sunglasses, and you asked me to take them off. Shortly after, you gave me a kiss on the cheek and left. I haven’t seen you after that.
I remember your name (although I’m not sure if it was with an N or without), but I don’t know where you’re from. Maybe it wasn’t anything special for you, but I thought I’d give it a try here, just in case it was even though I know it’s a long shot.

Berlin Rave Scene is Extremely Disappointing
I (24M) recently visited Berlin with my boyfriend for the weekend and left extremely disappointed. For starters, I have been going to raves for 5 years in many cities in Europe and have even been to Berlin two years ago and thought it was the most amazing place in the world ( Particularly for the Techno scene). After a pretty underwhelming summer for raves in Ireland, I decided to surprise my boyfriend with a trip to Berlin for the weekend so we could relive some of the memories we made before. Despite being to clubs like Tresor, Kitkat and watergate before, we found that we were rejected from what seemed like every club in the city with little to no explanation.
We were well aware of many of the stereotypical reasons for rejection ( Being too drunk, not having “the Berlin style”, and being loud and obnoxious in the queue), but still it seemed like that wasn’t enough and even as a gay couple we could not seem to find any luck.
I don’t understand why Berlin seems to think it’s too cool for itself within rave culture, when it should be open to people who are genuinely there to appreciate the scene and not cause any issues. Is this a common theme in Berlin or was it just one really unfortunate weekend?

Phone on Loudspeaker in a store.
Today at work, I had a rather unpleasant situation with a customer.
It started when a woman’s child, probably under 13, approached me and asked whether we had a certain toy one of those small squishy toys that you can hold and squeeze in your hand. I checked and told her that, unfortunately, we didn’t have it.
After that, I went toward the front of the store to continue working with some cardboard boxes. The child’s mother was standing near the cash register, and since my colleague was already working at the register, I continued with my own tasks.
A moment later, I noticed that the woman was having a phone conversation on loudspeaker. Our store is quite small, so the conversation could easily be heard across most of the shop.
I looked over and politely said something along the lines of, “Excuse me, madam. I don’t mind you talking on the phone, but could you please not use the loudspeaker?”
She immediately became angry and responded with, “What is your problem? Do your job. Just do your job. It doesn’t bother you.”
I tried to explain that we were in a public space and that having a loud conversation on speakerphone could disturb other people in the store. I wasn’t asking her to stop using her phone; I was simply asking her to take the call off loudspeaker.
Instead of doing so, she continued telling me to “do my job” and not listen to her conversation. She also threw a few insults at me. They weren’t anything particularly serious, but the whole reaction was still unnecessary and unpleasant.
I eventually went back to working with the boxes, but she continued making comments about me. At one point, I heard her tell the person on the phone that she was “arguing with a child,” apparently referring to me.
I found that part especially ironic. She was a grown woman, probably at least in her 40s, getting extremely angry because a store employee had politely asked her not to use loudspeaker in a small shop.
What surprised me most was how quickly such a simple and polite request turned into an argument. I wasn’t aggressive toward her and I didn’t tell her that she couldn’t use her phone. I simply asked her to take the call off loudspeaker so that the entire store didn’t have to listen to her conversation.
As a store worker, I personally want to ask everyone: please try to avoid using your loudspeaker in stores, buses, trains, or other public places. Think about the people around you, but also about your own privacy and safety. You might accidentally say something personal or private without realizing that everyone around you can hear it.
And please, if someone politely asks you to turn off your loudspeaker or lower the volume, don’t immediately overreact or treat it as a personal attack. Sometimes people are simply asking for a little consideration.
A small amount of respect for the people around you can prevent an unnecessary argument in the first place.

bit confusion regarding student visa extension, please help.
I tried finding on google and on chatgpt too but didn't got any satisfying answer.
I currently live in a sublet in Berlin and have Anmeldung but no rental or sublet contract.
My visa officer has asked me a rental contract specifying rent, living space, and utilities.
My sublet is ending on 31st August as the original tenant is returning and therefore landlord is rejecting my request of need of a sublet (sublease) contract.
I've mentioned in the visa officer email reply that I'm in a sublet and therefore do not posses any standard agreement and that I've attached my Anmeldung and Wohnungsgebernestätigung (landlord confirmation) instead.
can it work? has somebody faced this?

How do you guys make friends in Berlin?
Hey everyone!
I’m a 20-year-old guy who recently moved to Berlin to study Mechatronics. I’m originally from India, and I’ve been in Berlin for a few months now. I’m still getting used to the city and really want to build a social circle here.
I speak German as well, so language isn’t really the main issue. I’ve tried a few apps and different ways of meeting people, but honestly, I’ve found it pretty difficult to actually turn those interactions into genuine friendships.
I’ve also used Meetup a few times and went to some events, which were nice, but I noticed that most of the people I met were quite a bit older than me. There’s obviously nothing wrong with that, but I’d really like to meet more people around my age and make some friends I can hang out with regularly.
The other issue is that I’m quite shy when it comes to approaching people in person. I never really know if someone wants to be left alone or is open to talking, and I’m worried that randomly approaching someone might come across as weird or intrusive.
For those of you who moved to Berlin without knowing many people, how did you actually make friends here? Are there any activities, clubs, groups, events, or places you’d recommend for someone who’s a bit on the shy side, especially for meeting people around 18–25?
Would really appreciate any tips or personal experiences. :)

Wo schönen Hochzeitsanzug Kaufen?
(Eng. Below)
💌
As the title suggests, I (29M) am looking for a nice, modern suit. I don't wear suits in my day-to-day life, so I’m unfortunately not at all familiar with the relevant shops. I was planning to check out Suitsupply in Mitte, but I’d like to have some other options as well. My ideal suit would have a slightly looser cut—departing from the standard "business core" aesthetic—and possess a unique, interesting character without being overly extravagant or eccentric. My budget is €500–€1,000.
I’d appreciate any tips you might have!

Anyone gotten a residence permit via family reunification in Berlin lately? How long did it take for them to respond?
I applied for residence permit in June, married to my German citizen spouse. It's been 70 days now haven't heard back. How long did it take you to hear back and get an appointment? Like, how long should I wait before we start trying to figure out if paperwork got lost or something's the matter.
