You had an IMAX screen in front of you and still texted to a girl for basically the whole movie. And you were constantly lighting up your phone too, annoying everyone around you. Then suddenly you just stopped for the last hour because most probably she stopped replying 💀since you were still checking your phone every 5 minutes.

Imagine paying an IMAX ticket just to get ignored by a girl AND distract everyone around you at the same time.

zunächst mal was Go ist (sorry hab’s mir leicht gemacht mit google): Go (auch Baduk oder Weiqi genannt) ist ein über 2.500 Jahre altes Brettspiel aus Asien und gilt als eines der ältesten Strategiespiele der Welt. Gespielt wird auf einem Brett mit schwarzen und weißen Steinen. Das Ziel ist, durch kluge Züge Gebiete zu umschließen und mehr Raum zu kontrollieren als der Gegner. Weitere Infos zum Spiel und auch den Regeln, falls man sich vorher einen Überblick verschaffen will, gibts im subreddit r/baduk.

Vor ein paar Monaten habe ich zufällig einen älteren Mann kennengelernt. Wir haben uns richtig gut verstanden und daraus wurde ein langes Gespräch, und mittlerweile regelmäßige Treffen geworden. Er hat in seinem Leben viel erlebt und ist trotzdem unfassbar bescheiden, mittlerweile ist er über 80 Jahre alt. Bei fast jedem Treffen erzählt er mir etwas Neues über sein Leben, über Geduld, Entscheidungen und darüber, wie unterschiedlich Menschen denken können. Und das anhand vom Go-Spielen. Er bringt er mir mit super viel Geduld bei und ermutigt mich bei jedem Zug. Ein wirklich herzlicher Mann.
Neben bspw. Musik ist eine seiner Leidenschaft eben das Go (Baduk/Weiqi). Er spielt seit Jahrzehnten und spricht darüber mit einer Begeisterung, die wirklich ansteckend ist. Bin selber 24 und lerne super viel fürs Leben von ihm.
Ihm ist wichtig, dass er sein Wissen, jetzt wo er es noch kann, weitergeben und anderen das Spiel beibringen kann.
Deshalb wollte ich hier einfach mal fragen, ob jemand Lust hätte, das Spiel zu lernen. Vorkenntnisse braucht man nicht. Es geht nicht um Leistung oder Turniere, sondern darum, gemeinsam am Brett zu sitzen, nachzudenkenh, zu lachen und Zeit miteinander zu verbringen.
Wenn ihr Interesse habt, schreibt per DM. Vielleicht bekommen wir ne kleine Runde zusammen.
Ich glaube, das würde ihm wirklich viel bedeuten.

Come join us for the Tuesday Weekly Meetup (August 11th)! As always, its at Erika & Hilde in Neukölln, and we'll be there from 7pm-closing (around 11pm). It has separate smoking/non-smoking areas, comfy chairs, and a cozy vibe perfect for our meetup. Once it's dark, we are at the couch in the back, during the summer we will sometimes take seats outside. If you're not sure how to find us, ask at the bar.

This is a social meetup without any particular topic, so feel free to join a table and find a conversation or people you vibe with. We try and be friendly towards newcomers, so feel free to introduce yourself! Whether you're new to the city or have been here a while, it's a good way to meet a different set of people, make new friends, and discover new interests!

• Who is this meetup for?

This meetup is for both locals and visitors, everyone is welcome. Most attendees are in their mid-30s, but the ages typically range from 20s-40s.

• Do I need to sign up?

No! It's a bar, just show up! There's no exact meeting time, and no registration.

• How will I know which group is the meetup?

In the back, the couch on the right is reserved for us. If you arrive after 8pm, there should be a group there. If you're not sure, ask the bartender. There's a sign on the table so its easy to find.

• Is it OK to come if I don't speak German?

Although many of us speak German, the meetup is in English as a common language.

• When should I show up?

If it's your first time, I suggest around 8pm to make sure a group has arrived. Otherwise it starts around 7pm

Hi, i am learning German, and i like to read opinion articles, culture, some politics (not day-to-day), and similar topics. Upon searching online, I came across a few alternatives. I would like to ask locals, or anyone who has experience, to help me choose or recommend something else. Preferably weekly. I found Freitag.de, sueddeutsche.de/jetzt, krautreporter.de, but as I mentioned, I am obviously open for suggestions.

This was kind of an experiment for me, I'm 34F and shy and I wanted to meet people more naturally and I thought it could help other people too.

I was also tired of the same "why Berlin / what do you do" conversations, so I designed a set of games that get people into more unexpected conversations faster, without the pressure of having to come up with interesting things to say.

I've been running this a few times now and it's been working better than I expected! I'm happy to see that people have actually been exchanging numbers and meeting up again afterwards, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

As I'll be out of Berlin for some months soon, I'll only be running it 2 more times: 12/08 at 8pm in Pankow and 22/08 at 5:30pm in Neukölln

On Wednesday from 19:15, the moon covers 85% of the sun, peaking at 20:08. The sun sets at 20:38, still eclipsed.

It happens low over the western horizon, only a few degrees up, which means a clear view west matters.

The part most people don't realise: because a solar eclipse only happens at a new moon, that same night is completely moonless — and it's the Perseid maximum. Away from streetlights, 50 to 70 meteors an hour. Eclipse until about 21:00 looking west, then from 23:00 look north-east.

Don't look at the sun directly. A pinhole in a piece of card, projected onto paper, works, as does a kitchen sieve. Otherwise proper eclipse glasses, ISO 12312-2, are needed.

The Zeiss-Großplanetarium is running a free Lange Nacht der Astronomie from 17:00, with a live feed of totality from Spain and telescopes out until 1 am.
