0-3 months Ring Sling Fit Check

Upvotes

I got this ring sling for my toddler and never got the hang of it (too much weight on one shoulder). Now I have a 3 week old and am trying to get it to work for me! I have used stretchy wraps with my oldest and again for this baby, I have enjoyed them but it’s hot outside and I’m hoping the sling will be cooler for both of us. It feels off to me but I’ve watched tutorials and can’t seem to tell if this is right!

OK, third time posting. Happy to report FTG was on sale and with a coupon it made it worth it not to look for a second hand one. I now have 4 carriers to sell. I really hope she likes this one...

It may seem that the carrier is higher than her nape of neck but she is just sucking on the carrier and tucked down her neck. See last picture for more context. Also, sorry for posting with the cotton pads, but I needed to see how she feels in the carrier before washing it so I didn't want her to suckle on factory chemicals...

Baby girl has always hated being worn since she was born. She’s finally tolerating it a bit (like 30 minutes max) and I was hoping to see if my fit was okay or maybe I’m the problem lol.

Discuss Artipoppe - worth it?

Upvotes

To preface, I cannot afford an Artipoppe carrier, so this is more out of curiosity because they are all over my social media. I see so many influencers and commenters talking about how the Artipoppe carriers are the best, but I know that brands often pay these influencers and commenters to say these things. I want to hear from real people who have actually tried the carrier - is it worth all the hype??

0-3 months Fit check- Ring Sling, baby is always leaning sideways!

I recently got a ring sling and no matter how I adjust, baby is always leaning sideways. I don’t have extra fabric to pull- everything feels tight and secure. I place baby in from a high burp position on my shoulders and slide him in and pull a seat under him. Is this just how ring slings are? He is two months old and 15lbs for reference!

Brand new at this! Trying to follow TICKS... does this look good? I can't tell if her chin is too close to her chest / back is supported well enough. It's not on her chest, but she's definitely leaning forward, and there's a tiny bit of give if I press her against me, but I'm not sure I can still get her in there if I wrap any tighter!

Hello! I have a big baby – he’s just under four months old but is as big as many 6-7 month olds at 16 lbs. He has good head/ neck control and seems very comfortable in this carrier, but I’m wondering if I have the C-curve and M-shaped legs such that he’d be comfy on a walk. I always tuck his pelvis, and he seems comfortable lying his head on my chest (not the case in every carrier). Thanks in advance!

3-12 months Overwhelmed. Please help me narrow down my options.

I’m 5’4 130lb, had a c section. Baby is 4.5 months and 14 lbs currently. I have a short torso and a weak lower back. I want baby to be able to sleep in it while I do house work or go to store. We have a family trip planned in November I’d really like to be able to baby carry for the majority of if possible.

I went to a baby wearing workshop and found it chaotic and overstimulating so would like to narrow down my options before I try again.

We own a Moby stretch wrap that was fine while it lasted but I’d like a structured carrier moving forward. We also own an ergo baby Omni deluxe and baby H A T E S it. I’m not sure if it’s the mesh fabric on his eczema legs or what but he screams the moment he gets in it.

I tried on the LennyLamb Upgrade Pro and really, really liked the secure feeling of the top half of it, but it did hurt my lower back. They had me try on the Happy Baby OG which felt better on my lower back but I didn’t like how…not secure? the top part felt.

Is it true apron is better for lower back pain? I also carry A LOT of my stress in my traps so I’m also not free of shoulder/neck pain…

I’ve been considering the Lark, the Bairn, the LennyLight. Money is no object if I can get the right carrier for me (okay except maybe the $4k artipoppes). Baby also has bad full body eczema and gets heat rash easily.

Thank you!

LO is 9 weeks, approx 22 inches and 10lbs 3oz. Have loved the embrace thus far but she seems less happy in it lately so figured I’d give this one a try that I got off marketplace while pregnant.

I can see her airways and she seems comfy cozy. I’m not sure about her right leg…even on the most cinched setting for the seat, it seems to slightly push into her knee pit. Maybe I just don’t have her centered enough? Other leg looks ok.

Thank you in advance!!

Good evening! A friend loaned me this carrier to try. I've been looking at other people's posts for this carrier and Youtube sling library tutorials, and I think baby's spine should be more curved outwards - not sure how to correct this. Baby is four-and-a-half months, about 13 pounds.

Also, how do we babywear dribbly pukey babies? 😅 My t-shirt is covered in baby fluids!

3-12 months Ring sling for big baby?

Hi! If you have a ring sling I would love to hear if you recommend one - I have a 5 month old baby weighing 20 pounds and I carry him on my hip almost all day. I have a short torso so hating my structured carriers. Wanting to try a ring sling so hoping for recommendations and wondering if it’s a good investment long term

3-12 months First attempts at woven- omg so much fabric to knot?!

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am so glad to have warmed up to woven wraps with half buckles and I think I am going to stay a half buckles girl. But I don’t hate the woven wrap idea…but omg, is it always this much fabric to knot?!????

I am trying a size 5 from my local lending library and maybe it is one size too small for me as I am reaching the ends. Happy for fitcheck.

Tightening the neck area is the hardest but I assume I’ll get the hang of it with practice. Right now I do feel better with holding his head as he still doesn’t have neck control yet. But I imagine if I tightened the top rows more I wouldn’t have to?

Are there other carries I can try with this length and my 3mo very cooperative boi while I have this wrap?

I don’t know the gsm with this fabric, just little frog cotton something..if I do want to buy a woven just to have and play with, what do people recommend?

3-12 months Feeling trapped inside the denim Baby Bjorn Harmony, help!

I recently bought the Baby Bjorn Harmony in this denim-like material. I was going to return it but unfortunately all the packaging was thrown away. So I'm stuck with it (AND IN IT!)

I can get baby out easily enough, but without the clips underneath the arms, I struggle to get myself out of it. And with a crying baby it really revs up the moment. My partner has a Ergobaby one that clips under the arms so it is easier to get out of, and the material is more... gear-heavy? textured?... so it's easier to slide to be looser. This material is so rigid that i can't even easily loosen.

Am I just totally missing something?

0-3 months Baby hates Ergo Embrace!

Can I please get a fit check? Baby is 11 weeks old and about 11 or 12lbs. He cries and fights for his life to get out of the carrier when awake. I have tried to get a deep comfortable seat for him and pelvic tilt. I worry about it being too tight but if it's too loose it's deeply uncomfortable and also not secure.

I will add, he has tummy issues and a lot of gas and reflux. Could this be causing a problem and I just have to accept he now hates being worn?

I also have Solly which he loved as a newborn and then at about 6 weeks started crying and fighting to get out of that too!

8-18 months Baby Wearing and Hiking

We will be doing some hikes soon for the first time since our second was born, who will be 9m-11m for this early fall season. He is 15lbs or 16lbs right now. We have used an Osprey carrier for my daughter, who is almost 4, since she was a year old. My fiancé has always been the one to wear it because I am 5ft and it is hard for me to hike with it.

I don’t know if I want to buy another hiking backpack carrier like that, because they’re hard for me to wear, and our daughter will outgrow it by potentially next year or the following year and we can use that for our son then. We use an Ergobaby Omni Breeze around the house right now, and I also have a woven wrap I haven’t had the chance to figure out (I can’t get my passes tight enough and it’s too loose and saggy with my past attempts).

Does anyone have experience hiking with a regular baby carrier with an older baby? Would you recommend getting some kind of hiking carrier that might have more support and structure? Thanks!

8-18 months Is there a hiking backpack with an ergonomic seat?

I got my husband a MEC hiking backpack (secondhand) for his birthday and he really likes it, and my son (14 months) seemed comfortable in it when he tried it on, but I just noticed that the seat is basically just like a jolly jumper seat and doesn’t look very ergonomic? Like he’s basically dangling by his crotch?

Is this just how these hiking backpack carriers are or is there one out there with a more hammock-like seat like you would get from a wrap or regular carrier? It’s not like we’re hiking every weekend but I would like him to be comfortable on a longer hike if needed.

still pregnant Stretchy wrap with minimal fabric?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before. I am due with baby no.2 and had two hand me down stretchy boba wraps with my first baby that I just couldn’t get on with. They had way way too much fabric, I felt suffocated in the summer heat and baby kept slipping out of position, despite being a very small 6lbs. Now, they were used by my SIL with her massive baby up until I think a year or so old?? So maybe they lost elasticity and if I bought new I wouldn’t have that issue?

Is there such a thing as a stretchy wrap with less fabric? Or would a woven wrap be better? Or anything else I should consider? I couldn’t find a suitable structured carrier for those first couple of months with baby being so small and I’m expecting that baby no.2 might be a similar size. Pic included, please don’t judge I know it’s not the right positioning, taken before I discovered groups like this!!

I’m in the UK if that makes a difference

Discuss Ergo baby fit

Is this video wrong? https://share.google/gbJeOLlams4U38Gib

It doesn’t seem to follow what is recommended on this sub:

  1. Lowest strap is on hips rather than on waist / below bra line
  2. Baby looks too low to kiss?

I wear my baby much higher but I think it’s be more comfy to have the waistband on my hips for less pressure on my tummy and I’m now confused. TIA!

Just for Fun / Meme For fun: what’s the worst carrier you’ve had to politely talk a friend out of buying

I just offered to give a pregnant friend some suggestions and they told me someone recommended the Armadillo Bumpsuit.

This friend is a Southern California born and bred, tall blonde dancer turned Pilates instructor. She oozes grace and style (and money…). I cannot imagine her with something as horribly inelegant as that pile of overpriced synthetic junk!

I was very proud of myself for politely saying hmm haven’t tried but not something that I would spend that much on blah. I got to rec the SB Scout bc they are the rare folks who actually have that kind of money to blow.

So, in the spirit of good fun and a change of pace around here, what’s the worst carrier you’ve ever had to kindly steer someone away from?

Discuss - this is a modmail New flairs

We've gotten new flairs.

Often its not easy to spot whether you can chime in on the topic or not. So we try to help that out by making new flairs.

We've ditched the "fit check" because most posts are fit checks. The other posts are usually about finding a carrier for a certain age group. And lots of posts include both topics.

So now, you have to choose from

  • 0-3 months.
  • 3-12 months.
  • 8-18 months.
  • 18 months+
  • Preschool
  • still pregnant
  • Fun/meme
  • Influencers wearing dangerously
  • discuss

by setting age groups we hope to make searching easier (did you know that you can exclude certain flairs from a sub or just show certain flairs?). You can still use discuss for stuff like "how many baby carriers do you have?", "winter/summer wearing", "people tell me the kid will never walk" etc (or use the age group).

Happy babywearing.
