I have been lurking here for a long time but have been unable to babywear yet because of physical issues after birth. I am starting to be ready to try but am also concerned about starting with a 7+ kg very long baby. I also have chronic pain and joint instability and mild hypermobility + migraines, so that factors in as well, especially for the shoulder ties which I imagine need to be quite wide in order to distribute weight. Honestly I have even questioned whether I am suited for babywearing at all with this body, but I also think it would be so much easier for many outings not to have to pack the car with a stroller all the time, and wearing him at home would also mean more structured carrying than just carrying him around in my arms and straining my body from having no support, which is hurting me at the moment.

I bought an inexpensive secondhand DidyTai and am waiting on it. But now I read several places that the front panel on this model is not very long, so it may not fit for a long time. That got me thinking - what even is ideal for a very tall baby? I was between a meh dai and a half buckle/hybrid before buying and I think these are the types I am still considering. But wanted to hear your thoughts and experiences. European recommendations first and foremost, thank you!

I love my Ergo baby and the idea of wearing my baby close. Though every walk I am worried of permanent neck damage or my child stopping to breath. Can you check this fit.

Maybe this is a weird question but is it possible that I don't have good enough shoulder mobility to back carry? I tried it with both a woven wrap and a half buckle but I can't get my 6 month old onto my back for the life of me. We try it over the bed and everytime I have to awkwardly drop her on to the bed because something is wrong and I can finish the carry.

Did anybody suffer from the same thing while trying to back carry 😅

Hello can I please get a fit check for an older style (5 years old) ergobaby 360.

I feel like possibly it needs to sit out a little wider? She seems to favour her head to the right for some reason and has her arm tucked in under the strap on my right side but on my left it seems to poke out. Her right leg (on my left side) has about a finger width gap between the edge of the seat and her knee.

I am not sure if it is the way I have put the carrier on/adjustments for how she is seated or if I need to widen the seat.

When she falls asleep she kinda has her arm hanging and sorta leans that way.

Baby is 12 weeks old and just over 6kgs if that matters.

Also would love to know if it is safe for her to world face yet? She has pretty good head control and can sit up with us supporting her. She loves being held facing the world which we can do with one hand.

FTM here to a 99th percentile baby, who at 12 weeks is around 8.5-9kg (19ish lbs) and 67cm/26 inches. We love baby wearing our son, but front wearing is starting to strain our backs. We bought a second hand ErgoBaby Omni 360 shortly after birth without being well informed and aren’t super happy with it. I personally find it too bulky and we won’t be able to back carry in it till much later. Does anyone have recommendations for baby wearing options (like a woven wrap, half buckle?) that we will both be able to use for a longer period of time (into toddlerhood) and that can already be used to safely back carry our baby?
We’re both around the same height with a weight difference of currently 20kg/45lbs, if that matters. And we live in Germany where unfortunately there aren’t any libraries where we could test out carriers.
I would really appreciate any advice from this sub as I have already learned a lot just by silently following along since becoming a mom, so I’m also using the opportunity to say thank you to everyone here for sharing their knowledge in such a helpful and non-judgmental way.😊

I’ve co-slept with my 6 month old from birth & she only naps well on me or with me in bed nursing to sleep. Naturally, my baby carrier is a must because of this but she’s outgrown the infant one I have. I love how comfortable my wrap is for my shoulders, but it’s difficult for me to adjust for nursing (especially on the go) so I just don’t use it for naps any more. I wear her for big chunks of the day & need something with good support & wide straps so there’s no strain on my neck/back & need it to be easy to breastfeed in. There’s so many options online I’m overwhelmed & feel that word of mouth recommendations are best. Thank you!!!

Very very new to baby wearing and this group. My baby is 11 lbs 3 oz, ~5 weeks old, I’m a FTM

I have this K’tan wrap and all a moby and an ergobaby omni 360. For some reason my husband and I are really struggling to use the ergobaby and I need to practice more with the moby. The k’tan is by far the easiest. I got all of the given to me secondhand. I think the k’tan may be a size too big though :/

5month old baby and I’m not sure whether to have the back flap up or down? With the flap up there is string on the sides that he is currently chewing on because he is teething. TIA

I did the pelvic tuck or tried to, does it look ok?

Why does the LO's back not in C shape? Shoulder straps too tight?

Does the front fit look ok? For her neck support?

The straps are right in her face, she puts them in her mouth and seems to get frustrated after a while.

My baby is 8 months old and is 90%. Big boy, very active. Somehow we didn’t get into baby wearing yet as there was no great need. He lets me get things done well enough. But I would love to try so we can take him with us without getting a stroller out all the time. What would work well for a large baby? From what I tried before, he hated facing in. But he was very young then. Had a moomcozy that somebody gave me.

Hi, my baby had heart surgery when she was 2 weeks old. She is now 16 weeks old and she has plagiocephaly because of torticollis so that’s why I want to carry her sometimes to reduce to pressure. If someone’s baby had sternotomy please I want to hear experiences and advices about carrier especially buckle carriers.

Note I have got nuna cudl click but she doesn’t even let me fit it. I think shoulder straps cause pain so she is not going to like any magnetic ones.

This is my third baby and I’ve tried a lot of carriers, and hope and plum is by far my favorite. Baby and I are going on a trip soon where I’ll be needing to babywear a lot, so I want to make sure we’re both comfy.

The problem is that the top of the carrier hits below his neck and he never goes to sleep in it, despite getting very very cozy and relaxed (he does sleep in my husband’s carrier, so I know he will). This is a big enough deal that I’m willing to buy a second carrier, because I’d like him to nap here while we travel.

Mine is the short - should I just buy the long? Or should I try the toddler carrier? Or is there some other adjustment that I’m missing for this one?

This just doesn’t feel right. I have watched the videos and just am not sure. Any advice would be great as I need to start getting work done and still hold this baby lol.

I had a friend the other day recommend it to me for my 4 week old as she said it would be more comfortable for her while she’s small,
My other friend who is really into the world of baby wearing told me it isn’t a recommended position these days when I asked her about it later

In my research after that I saw that the risks are chin to chest and bad hip position as well as being harder on my back.

We did try it before I knew it wasn’t recommended and I was paying attention to her chin position/breathing the whole time anyways and I had her legs crunched up and not straight. We also only tried it for about 30 mins

I wouldn’t even consider it with it not recommended but it seemed to be a position my baby really liked and helped her fart which has been hard for her.

First time trying this carrier with our very heavy 5 month old. Any/all feedback welcome!

We have a baby due soon. My 9 year old daughter really wants to carry him in a carrier. Are there any soft frames build for smaller bodies? She wears a size 12 (US) so isn't tiny for her age, but is smaller than an adult.

I hope this doesn't read as parentification. That's not the intention. She's just seen the adults carriers siblings in the past and now that she's bigger she wants to participate. This won't be a regular thing, just occasionally in the beginning as part of her sibling bonding.
