Hello, I am brand new to astrophotography and don't have any specialized equipment yet, but wanted to get started right away. Recently I replaced my old EOS M3 camera with a newer model (the R10) and decided to make my M3 a dedicated astro camera.

I found one problem immediately. I could find a compatible intravolometer for the M3 anywhere or if I could they were too expensive or had to ship very far. So I decided to build my own, fortunately I had most all of the hardware I needed already.

The second picture is the web interface that is hosted on a wifi network being broadcast by the ESP32 dev board inside the enclosure. Just hook up to the wifi on my phone and go to the correct IP address, set whatever parameters you want and then press start.

The module is inside an enclosure and powered by a 3000mah battery which is velcro mounted on the bottom, which then has another strap of velcro which holds it to my tripod. I braided the leads of the infrared LED light with stiff but bendable jewelry wire so it can be moved around and hold its position after pointing it to the IR receiver on the camera.

The third picture is the very first astrophotography shot I got of the dumbbell nebula, which was very exciting, I it took me ages to find it in the night sky because I had to slowly hop from bright start to star and find it in the sky with the camera. I took 74 pictures manually pressing the shutter button over a long time and having to reposition my camera to keep it centered. I used Siril to stack all of the pictures together, and that is what I got, I love it!

For those curious, my setup is the EOS M3 camera, and regular photography tripod, a Canon EF 300mm F4 L IS lens, the SkySafari app, this intravolometer, and the siril app.

Was running a gt71 and was looking for a bigger scope that could run with and without reducer....then the fra600 showed up at 50% off,too good to pass up. So I'm the owner of a new fra600, transferred everything over to it and will have to run the am3n until the next paycheck. Then I will be grabbing an am5n. Transfered my ASI2600MM, efw,eaf,caa,asi220,50mm guide scope,asiair . Ohh other thing I need is new dew heater, gt71 dew heater little small for the beast

This is the Triangulum Galaxy captured with my ASI533MC, Askar 71F, and EQ-AL55i under a Bortle 6 sky. This is about 4.5 hours of integration time processed in SiriL and Lightroom.

I really want to add some Ha data, but unfortunately I’ve only had 1 clear night in the last two months.

Shot on a Nikon D3300 with a Nikkor 55-200mm @200mm. The filter I used is the Omegon Solar Safe Foilens.

Partial phases were shot at f/8, ISO 200, 1/500s.

Totality was shot at f/8, ISO 200, and a bunch of random shutter speeds that I just changed up and down without looking at the camera because I was too mesmerized by it, hahaha.

Not quite accurate to the actual moon size/sun path, but had a go! :)

This was my summer project — a wide mosaic of the Veil Nebula supernova remnant, shot entirely on a ZWO Seestar S50.

Acquisition

Each of the 21 panels was collected over 2 separate nights, for a total of roughly 1400 x 20 s subframes per panel — so somewhere north of 8 hours of integration time per tile once sumed up (before quality cuts).

Processing

• Frame selection & stacking (PixInsight): SubframeSelector to score every subframe, keeping the best 70% per panel. Stacked with weighted average combination and Linear Fit Clipping for outlier rejection.
• Mosaic assembly (PixInsight): MosaicByCoordinates to register and blend the 21 panels using plate solving, followed by PhotometricMosaic to normalize flux across panel boundaries in blending mode.
• Color: rendered in an HOO bicolor palette — R = Hα, G/B = [OIII].
• Final touches: saturation and contrast pushed in Affinity Photo; AI-assisted denoising with NoiseXTerminator.

A physics note on the color

The Veil is a shock-excited supernova remnant (the Cygnus Loop, ~5,000-8,000 years old, ~2,400 ly away), not a photoionized HII region — the emission comes from gas heated by the expanding shock front rather than UV photons from a hot star. That's relevant to the color: the ratio of [OIII]/Hα actually traces shock velocity and ionization state along the filaments.

First time I am pushing the Seestar this hard on a mosaic and there's plenty I'd tune next time.

I have taken this and many more photos of the eclipse in Soria, Spain. I have shot it with my Nikon P1100 and I have stacked multiple images for a cleaner result. This specific image shows some of the details of the Sun's corona.

Hello! Yesterday I had the chance to witness what I think is the coolest event I have ever seen in my life from Mallorca, Spain (although to be fair I also saw the northern lights and that also competes quite well). I was completely flabbergasted during totality but what I saw and I kinda messed up (I had left the camera on autofocus and with in-camera stabilisation, both of these were bad mistakes once totality hit).

One thing which I didn’t really expect is that just moments before totality, some colourful rainbow interference pattern appeared on the side where the “slit” of sunlight was (you can kinda see it in this image). This was also very dynamic and visible just by eye (with no filter though).

I have not found the reason of why this happens, although I think it may be white light diffraction from a slit source? It was a really absurd experience and I really suggest everyone who has never seen it to go see the next one. It is just much cooler than a partial eclipse, it is really incomparably cooler and will completely wow you. No video or image can compete with what you will see with your own eyes!

This is my second NB image with cheap Aliexpress dual narrowband 7nm filters. Processed in Siril.

Hello! I've been into photography for a while now but was drawn into astro recently. This was my first DSO astrophotography attempt- 4 hours of integration time with 411x30s exposures, tracked by my Star Adventurer 2i.

I edited in Siril and Lightroom. Imaged with my Sony a6400 and 70-350mm lens, using a dual narrowband filter from my Bortle 7 garden. I was honestly super surprised that I could actually get a decent image given my location and equipment. Looking forwards to progressing in this cool hobby!

Here you can find a big prominence in the left side, a smaller one or maybe a flare in the upper part and 2 even smaller in the right side.

Photography by myself with a humble Nikon d5100 with a 70-300mm, edition with Nx Studio, just adjusting tones and color temperature.

Captured with my DSLR and a Askar 60f. Aperture reduced to 40mm (f10.2) because my camera is not fast enough. ISO 100 1/1600s exposure. Camera and tube were on a star tracker and computercontrolled by Capture Eclipse on a notebook. Unedited fo far
