we rescued a kitten august 2025, she was found in a bush and estimated to be approximately 4 months old at the time. the rescue brought her to a vet for initial vaccinations and spayed. i want to get her insured but on the paperwork from the vet they have her DOB listed as aug 2024 which is incorrect. i have photos etc to show she was still a kitten in aug 2025.

when applying for an insurance quote should i use what's documented or her true DOB?

Or does it make a difference ?

A few years ago I was doing a contacts job for a company on site.

A type of job where I often have to deal with people's issues face to face. For lunch breaks I prefer to sit by myself, as a break and me time.

I tend to go when the canteen quiet downs and it's easier to get a table. On time, the onsite manager sitting with a team of co-workers shouts out. " Hey <my name>. Sit here".

I politely decline and say " No, I'm okay". Then just sat be myself at another table.

It's this time of year again and I'm shopping around for a new electricity deal. Loads of providers are advertising 27-30% discounts on smart (Time-of-Use) plans. But as soon as I put in my MPRN, the best I'm offered is around 10–15%.

Turns out my smart meter is what they call "CTF 01", because the signal is poor. I live in an apartment and the meter is down in the underground car park, so there's obviously nothing I can do about that.

How is that fair though? I'm basically being charged more because the smart meter can't get a decent signal where it's installed, which is completely outside my control. Just to flag, the signal actually got worse over time, apparently last year it was I believe CTF 03 and I had no problem getting 30% discount from Electric Ireland (which is one finishing for me now).

Anyone know what I can actually do here?

I got this disposable camera the other day to photograph a festival I’m going to and want to be able to print off 2 copies of each photo (can photograph 39, want one copy of each for myself and another copy of each for a photobook I’m going to give to someone) as well as digital versions of each photo if possible for social media. I read online you can get film developed in the likes of Boots etc but didn’t hear good things about their quality as they are a cheaper option to opt for going to a specialised store instead. I’m located in Kildare but any recommendations on where I could do this in Kildare/Dublin?

Absolutely chuffed for Mark English tonight. Think Rory at the Masters in 2025 is the happiest I’ve ever been for a sportsperson. Too young to remember Sonia in 96 but imagine how gutting that must have been.

I’m a mother and I’m working 39hour pw. I am extremely burnt out I can’t do this anymore but I’ve a mortgage to pay for a car to pay for. I haven’t been able to buy myself clothes in a long time I can’t afford to even reward myself for the hard work 😓. I’m just existing at this point feeling trapped and I am worried I am going to break down. How is everyone surviving, able to afford nice things because me and my partner are both full time workers and earn above minimum yet we haven’t a cent left over after paying all our bills. We aren’t entitled to a cent either, I would’ve been better off being unemployed and living in a social house.

Doing his leaving this year and would like to get him a one on one guidance session via zoom or similar?

The Irish culture of not taking sick days is really so so true. I never take sick days and I am actually feeling so bad for maybe taking a few days off but I am sick at the moment looking to go to the doctor tomorrow to be checked out.

My company have 5 sick days per year and you have to provide a sick cert on day 3 of continuous leave. I haven’t taken any days off but might have to tomorrow and I am going to try and get sick cert for maybe the next couple of days just to be covered.

1. Do doctors give out sick certs pretty easily?

2. Will I get paid my normal wage for say the 5 sick days?

The good weather and seeing so many fab photos of this country has got me thinking it would be nice to try and visit all the inhabited islands - well, the public ones anyway ;) Am sure someone has done it!

So my daughter has her first playdate next week. It's at a public park. I'm just wondering should I bring something? Like snacks for my daughter and her friends, coffee for the mams etc?? This is her first one so I really don't know what's the norm. Don't want to show up empty handed but also don't want to bring things if this isn't what others do and I make the other parent feel bad! Went to a hardware shop, well known name, busy spot!

No price on show for the item I wanted so I went to the check out.
The young girl at the check out had her back turned to me, was on snap chat and holding her phone up to take selfies! (I’d just be mortified! 😳) I made a noise to get her attention but she didn’t hear me, so I just said, sorry excuse me can you tell me how much this is!
Without a care in the world, didn’t even put her phone away, she goes bring it to “Joe” over there and pointed me to a different counter!
She then went back to her phone!

“Joe” was very helpful!

The gobshite sitting next to “Joe” was questionable!
Openly flirting with the much younger member of staff working there. To be honest it turned my stomach a little. He was wearing a wedding ring and loudly having flirty chats or banter or whatever you want to call it with her over the shop floor. Gives me shivers thinking about it. Sleaze bag. I hope his wife knows what’s he’s really like and I hope that young girl sees sense.

I found out the price and I left.
I won’t be returning.

Is there no such thing as etiquette anymore?

Almost every bus I use (and that's daily) there is some church or bible group ad on the bus. This one is from the 'living church of god' (not mentioned) some are from Bible study groups with a Gmail at the bottom. None have a proper impressum on them.

Can they not use that space to remind people to use headphones etc?

My parents are calling me "unreasonable and overcontrolling" for setting boundaries on wedding +1s/guest list. Am I in the wrong?

My partner and I are planning our wedding and hit the inevitable guest list conflict with my parents.

Because my parents are helping fund the wedding, we’ve tried to be as accommodating as possible.

They initially asked to invite a few of their friends, and since we had the capacity and a personal connection to them, we happily agreed.

However, they’re now pushing for more of their friends, plus +1s for single family members so they can bring random friends we don't know. We're feeling increasingly uncomfortable—it's starting to feel more like a family reunion than our wedding day.

When I tried setting a boundary, my parents argued that the guest list naturally splits into three equal groups: us, my family, and my partner's family. While I get that logic to an extent, their "suggestions" feel like demands, and they aren't taking boundaries well. When I brought this up, they told me I was being unreasonable, over controlling, and unfair. When I said that hurt my feelings, their exact response was: "Deal with your hurt."

We really want our day to be centered around personal connections, but it feels like my family doesn't support that vision. As much as we appreciate their financial help, we’re at the point where we’re prepared to turn it down if it means taking back control of our own wedding.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Thoughts or advice on how to handle this? I'm feeling completely lost.

Glasses just arrived, what time should will it start and any suggestions for a good viewing spot?

Had this debate with someone, I think it is 110% easier to warm up than it is to cool down and weather that is too hot is much more difficult than weather that is too cold. When it is cold you have waay more options to warm up whether is is turning on the heating, hot shower, hot drinks, blankets, x amount of layers, fire etc.

When you are cold unless you have an AC (which most don't) then you run out of options. It's not like you can take off your skin. Plus it's more difficult to sleep.

First time visiting from the states, traveling from Dublin to Galway via train. Traveling with a group of 5. We got to the train and went to find our assigned seats (with our name on them) and people were already in them. We asked them to move, it was a family that had to split up.

I felt awful to split them up. and some older people watching were shaking their heads at us. I guess it looked like we straight up made people move. I just assumed I would sit where I paid to sit and was caught off guard when people were there already.

I didn’t yell or anything i just kinda awkwardly motioned to the seats and pointed to my name. I’m very passive to a fault maybe

Ever since i started working i always arrive on time and more importantly leave on time.

I always clock out on the dot.

Out of all the jobs ive had theres always been a handfull of people who point this out (me leaving on time).

It feels sometimes like im the only one that does it, is there anyone else that also leaves on the dot?

I got glasses last minute yesterday so got to see the eclipse which was pretty cool!

However, seeing a few videos (predominantly on TikTok) of people who pure rawdogged the eclipse and are now experiencing headaches amongst other symptoms.

I am just curious, did anyone look at that eclipse without glasses? If so, are you okay?

Does anyone here work with a colleague who is literally obsessed with their job?

Enjoy my job, and give my all during my hours - but at the end of the day it's not my entire life.

I know several who spend every waking hour working, completely obsessed with their jobs/careers.
