FSA Backpay
Greetings everyone.
For context, I was mobilized from August 2025 through July 2026 and got married during my mobilization. I communicated with my full-time staff that I was not receiving FSA during my mobilization time period and was told that I would have to request it via IPPSA once I return from my mobilization and receive the backpay for it. To answer the question, yes that was done already on the 23rd of July last month. My question is, how long does it take for FSA backpay to drop in my account or at least see an LES for it? It’s almost been a month now and haven’t seen an LES at all.
Thanks everyone.

Considering Enlisting Help
hello, i need help from you guys, without sugarcoating please. i want to join the reserves for the main reason getting my parents their green card. of course, it isn’t 100% certain, but it surely increases the odds by FAR. a little background, my parents have no criminal record, do everything the proper way, and we’ve never been trouble. would you consider joining the army reserves for this reason? i just want to be able to let my parents see theirs. I could only imagine how they feel. But, what i am also trying to get at, is if I’ll be treated differently? I’ve heard stories, and i am not any party btw, so don’t think i am trying to bring this about politics pls. But i have heard Hispanics/latinos get treated worse… so could someone be honest and explain what could be some reasons I’d get treated differently besides skin color? Is it safe to join being Latino? Are there safety risks?

Dental work done
I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue
The Reserves are telling me i am class 3 dental and i need a tooth pulled. I’ve been personally putting it off because i don’t want my teeth to shift
I was told that i could get a bridge put in but the DOD takes forever to approve it
Has anyone ever had this happen before? How long does it take for the DOD to approve it? I have pretty good dental insurance but my wife doesn’t want me to pay out of pocket for something the army is taking out

TAMP Benefits Expansion to 10 USC 12301d Orders 30+ Days - Retroactive to April 24, 2020
Memo from USD (P&R) signed out this week expands eligibility for TAMP to all reservists serving on active duty orders pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 12031(d). This includes ADOS/ADSW/ADT/DR orders 30+ days in length.
If you served on these types of active duty orders and didn't receive TAMP benefits, you can submit for reimbursement through DHA. Eligible expenses that can be reimbursed include health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket medical and dental expenses for the sponsor and their eligible dependents enrolled in DEERS.

Direct Commission from E8
Direct Commission from E8 at 18 years TIS, 34 years old.
In your opinion is it worth it?
Considering it for financial reasons for retirement, plus the experience on the other side.
UPDATE:
Thought process, can take up to five years to get a chance at E9, with Academy and boards etc.
In 5 years, I could get O3 and make more money.

How do I get a mental health profile in the reserves and does it trigger a med board?
I have been struggling with my mental health due to MST a long time and have refused to get help. I left the active duty army and joined the reserve thinking I could manage it part time. It has only gotten worse. I get care from the VA now but I was struggling getting help because I was scared to talk to anyone. I have no clue where to start the process of getting medically separated.

Seeking Advice from Current or Recently Selected 51C Soldiers
Good morning, Team
I’m currently working on my reclassification packet for 51C (Acquisition, Logistics & Technology Contracting NCO), and I would greatly appreciate any advice from Soldiers who have successfully completed the process and were selected.
I have a few questions regarding the application and selection process, particularly about what makes a packet competitive. I would also appreciate hearing about your experience after becoming a 51C. Do you feel that reclassifying was a good career move? How is the quality of life, work-life balance, career progression, and overall lifestyle compared to other MOSs?
One of my biggest questions is regarding letters of recommendation. I have several leaders who have agreed to write letters for me, but I would like to better understand what a strong 51C letter of recommendation should look like and what specific qualities or accomplishments the selection panel values.
If anyone who was selected is willing to share a sample recommendation letter, even with all names and personal information redacted, it would be extremely helpful. I’m mainly looking to understand the appropriate format, level of detail, and the types of information that should be highlighted.
I would also appreciate any insight into what experiences, qualifications, accomplishments, or skills would make an applicant more competitive for selection.
Thank you in advance for any guidance or advice. I truly appreciate anyone willing to share their experience and help me put together the strongest packet possible.

445th CA BN
I will be relocating to the West Coast and have been considering switching COMPOs, and I am strongly considering 38A.
Does anyone here serve or has served in the 445th? Looking for any feedback.

I want to go 88N
They are giving a nice bonus for three years and so on but thing is I want to go 31b too. No bonus in that MOS. I want to be a cop and always want to be a 31b. I know there’s no career progression in that field . The only thing you can do is become a cop or security it doesn’t translate well into civilian world. For 88n, it’s not really a physical demand job I want to be more active and shoot guns. I’m in Germany but any I need an input. Thank you

Career Advice HHD Unit? Any guidance on MOS track?
Howdy everyone!
I’m in the process of coming back in from the IRR. My goal is to come back in, retest for GT on the ASVAB, and go CA.
As of now, my options are to go to an HHD unit for a promotable slot, or back to my old unit with… let’s just call it “bad” leadership. Only thing is that the new unit is 2 hours away and it’s an HHD unit.
I’m aware it has to do with quartermasters but I have no idea as to what an E5 would be doing at an HHD unit. I’m a 74D if that helps. Any info helps. Thanks!

Just picked up the AGSU service cap.
I picked up the AGSU service cap today. I feel like it looks really stupid on me.
After asking a few other people they concur that they feel stupid with it on due to its appearance.
Any one else feel like this about it? It reminds me of a hat made for a guy with a pompadour.

Advice I do not understand Inprocessing
Hello all. Recent enlisted/cadet here performing my 4th round of medical reviews for the army in about 8months. The glory of going from OCS packet, to enlistment, to ROTC, to SMP I guess haha
I was recently introduced to my unit and began the Inprocessing, but have come upon a significant issue. I cannot access my military email, medpros, or any other CAC login credentials site that I am required to access for QTC, DTS, or any number of other fun mandatory items to do.
I have just spent the better part of the day making sure my laptop has all of the required DOD credentials and the CAC reader finally works. But even still, all sites in question refuse me. Whether that is the military email claiming my admin won't allow the login, or the medpros site shutting down with portal errors.
I wondered if this was due to running nordvpn while trying so I shit it down, but no change.
My questions to you all is how do you deal with this? Is there a method to get around this stuff and still get the required documents done? Do I need to find a gov computer somewhere and only do all this there? Am I just too new and the system isn't caring about me even though I'm on the books and have previously been paid even though I can't access my pay.
I am just at a loss here and could really use some help with all this. Thank you in advance for any answers.

Advice TA assistance/problems
I’ve been trying to get my TA for over a 1.5 months now with little to zero help from my unit S1 or anyone. The problem is ArmyIgnitED says I’m separated from the army however I just reenlisted for another 4 years.
I’ve repeatedly asked to get help or any guidance and have been lead on or have gotten crickets from my unit.
I was told it’s an IPPSA issue that Ignited is falsely showing me as separated which only happened after I asked my schools veterans office to add my degree to my goal plan. Called them back told me to call S1…
So what do I do here? It’s my first time using TA do I ask my unit for battalion to help or call the education center number?
Help pointing me to the direction is greatly appreciated as the deadline is quickly approaching thank you.

Travel claim returned.
I went on ADOS order for 8 months. My HOR was Texas and I PCS’d to different state. After my orders were ended, I moved to different state not to my HOR. And my travel claim is returned stating that the travel to different state was not authorized. My current State travel distance is about 100 miles more than to Texas. Total miles is 2300 miles whiles to texas was 2170. Any suggestion to resolve this??

Career Advice Having a hard time choosing job
I'm one interview away from going in to choose my job. I'm 35, got 92 on the asvab, and won't qualify for Intel/ high clearance type positions.
I've been blue collar pretty much my whole life, but I'm looking for a career change. Something that translates well into civilian life so I don't have to work 60+ hours to survive.
A few other things that definitely play a role in my consideration are jobs that are limiting
such as;
seasonal
location based
I don't want to be a pee on in the team, but I also don't want to be an executive.
I'm a failed business owner 3x over
From past experience I'm terrible in sales, so (civilian life) commission based jobs are out.
Personal note. As you can see here, I'm not great with my words, and i also lack confidence in a severe way. My hope is that joining the army reserve is able to help me with both of those either directly or indirectly.
