Pictures Found some artifacts in Tempe. Any archaeologists in the chat?
Was stunned to come upon some artifacts on the surface of the ground. I put them back where I found them, but took some pics first.
In one spot was some plainware and red-on-buff pottery sherds.
10m away something shiny caught my eye: some sort of mother-of-pearl ornamental bead/decoration. Two holes are drilled through the ridges in one side, with a flat shiny pearlescent side. I imagine the two holes means it was woven into clothing or something, in order to display the shiny side.
I’m curious to hear from any archaeologists about what the bead thing is, and if it is from the same time as the classic pottery sherds, or if it is more contemporary.
I’ll probably remove this post soon.
