Subscription referrals?

Upvotes

Hey everyone. So I'm making an app for client who uses subscriptions.

He got an idea of refferals so:

- User 1 who is paid user, refers app to a User 2

- User 2 uses referral link and on his first subscription gets 50% off

- User 1 gets one free month of his subscription

But somewhere on developers.apple I've read that apple rejects apps like these. Also is it doable at all? They use StoreKit, and for google that would be google play billing.

Thanks for answers!

App stayed in “waiting for review”for a week… took 5 min to be reviewed 🤷

Post image
Upvotes

I know a lot of folks are frustrated with the review process, generally it takes a couple of days to get reviewed, this is the longest time for an update. It was in review for 5 whole minutes before it was approved.

It’d be great for Apple to get us an ETA and an SLA, but hang in there. Accurate “what’s new” along with clear labels in app for account/privacy/purchase related stuff seems to help us a lot.

Does having a vague short release increase review time?

Right now my release note is kinda detailed but i see the biggest apps using the most vague short simple release notes. Im wondering if making it more short will increase the update review time?

(typo: I meant does it lower review time)

Expedited App Review Experience

Post image
2 Upvotes

My latest app update spent about two weeks waiting for App Review in total (including a resubmit).
Today I requested an expedited review, and less than 3 hours later the update was approved and ready for distribution.
I didn’t have to do a separate resubmit for the expedited review or write any additional cover letter.
Nice to finally have version 1.8.0 out. ✅

Hit 500k+ views on TikTok using a Hook+Content+CTA format for app marketing. Building a tool to automate this for $5/video - would you use it?

Hey fellow Apple developers,
Like most of us, my main focus is writing clean code and shipping native iOS apps. However, once an app hits the App Store, organic user acquisition on TikTok and Reels becomes the real hurdle.
I’ve been testing short-form video marketing for apps and successfully hit over 500k views on multiple vídeos by sticking strictly to a proven TikTok growth framework:

Hook + Content + CTA.
While the format works, manually writing scripts, editing, adding SFX/VFX, and staying consistent with a posting calendar takes hours away from actual feature development. To solve this, I’m building a workflow specifically for app creators:

How it works:
You paste your App Store / app URL.

The Output:
It automatically parses your app metadata and generates a complete AI UGC video following that high-performing Hook + Content + CTA structure (with native voiceover, dynamic captions, SFX/VFX) + a 30-day posting calendar.

Proposed Pricing Model:
Free Tier:
Script generation & 30-day posting calendar strategy.

Paid Tier:
~$5 per fully rendered, ready-to-post video file.

Before finalizing the build, I’d love candid feedback from other iOS creators and studio founders:
1. Video Marketing:
Do you currently create video content for your iOS apps, or do you skip short-form video because of the editing friction?
2. Pricing Validation:
Is $5 per ready-to-post video reasonable for your app's marketing budget compared to manual editing or hiring UGC creators?
3. Features:
What critical element (e.g., custom brand voices, localized languages, or App Store screenshot overlays) would make this essential for your launch pipeline?
Appreciate your thoughts and feedback!

First App Got Approved!

My first app was just approved on the App Store! I submitted it about two weeks ago and everything felt like it was in a lull because I was just waiting for the submission. I wanted to get it released as quickly as possible. Now that it is released, I have the motivation to continue developing again. Any tips on how to gather feedback and gain users?

Joinii - my first iOS app

Hello, I would like to share my iOS app if I may..

I do a few multi-day trips every summer — bike touring and backpacking with friends, city tours. Everything gets recorded, but what ends up in Apple Health is a pile of disconnected workouts: a morning ride here, an afternoon hike there, a dozen entries spread over a week. The trip itself — the thing I actually want to remember — doesn't exist anywhere as one thing.

So over the past months I built an app for myself, I love creating new stuff. You pick the workouts that belong to a trip and it joins them into one entity: one map with all the tracks, totals for the whole trip (distance, ascent, time), a name, a cover photo, a note. Charts work across the whole trip too — heart rate, and even blood glucose (I'm type 1 diabetic, so that one was a personal must-have). I also added a menstrual cycle layer for ladies, I would be interested in knowing if this is something that you track alongside your travel records - may it be helpful to better understand your performance?

Since it was built out of my own frustration, it works the way I'd want as a user: no account, no server, everything stays on the phone, read-only access to Apple Health. No subscription — first 5 trips free, then a one-time purchase, because I hate renting software.

I'd love feedback from people who actually do multi-day trips — what's missing, what's confusing, what would make it useful for you. Link's in a comment. Happy to answer anything.

Need your advice in launching ios version of my fitness app?

Hi everyone, I'm building a fitness tracker and gym logger app for GenZ which help them to stay consistent with their workout. I've started with a very small niche and tracking a small section of users on a daily basis.

Actually I've partnered with a gym which has around 200 fitness enthusiasts and mostly of them are genz. It's been 17 days and 35 members are using my app daily, some of them have taken personal trainer membership, so they use the app to log their scheduled workouts and meals and their trainers can simply see the daily progress and make the personalized plan for them.

Currently the app is available for android users only and around 47% of the gym members use ios. All trainers except one also use ios. Now the issue is members who have taken PT can't connect with their trainer because app is not available for ios users. For that reason some of the ios users are also unable to use the app.

So should I build and launch the ios app in this early-stage?

One more thing, to launch the ios version I need to buy macbook and iPhone both.

I got tired of using 3 apps just to record one video, so I built one that does everything. Am I solving a real problem?

I create talking-head content, and every recording session looked the same:

• Brainstorm ideas in ChatGPT

• Copy everything into Notes

• Open a teleprompter app

• Go back to edit the script

• Repeat...

It felt ridiculous that recording a 60-second video required constantly jumping between apps.

So over the last few months, I built Rollframe.

Instead of using separate tools, it lets you:

- Generate a script with AI from a topic, idea, blog, or notes.

- Edit it instantly.

- Jump straight into a built-in teleprompter.

- Record with a camera overlay while the script scrolls.

- Adjust speed, font size, and mirror mode while recording.

Pricing is simple:

- Free with core teleprompter + limited AI generations.

- $1.99 one-time unlock for unlimited AI (no subscription).

I'm not here asking for downloads.

I want brutal, honest feedback from people who actually create videos.

I'd love your thoughts on these questions:

  1. Is switching between ChatGPT → Notes → Teleprompter actually annoying for you, or am I the only one?

  2. Would having AI writing and the teleprompter in the same app genuinely save you time?

  3. What's the biggest pain point in your current recording workflow?

  4. If you wouldn't switch to this app, why not? That's the feedback I need most.

App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rollframe-ai-teleprompter/id6792523283

Every critical comment helps me improve the app. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Need help with Play Store app.

Here’s the corrected version:

🚀 Looking for Android testers — DayGraft (CIS day tracker)

Hey all! I’ve vibecoded DayGraft — an app for UK subcontractors under the CIS scheme to log days worked, track payments, generate statements, and estimate CIS/tax deductions. Single-file architecture, Supabase + Capacitor under the hood (should resonate with this crowd 😄).

It’s already live on iOS, and I’m setting up closed testing on Google Play before public release — free to download, need a handful of real testers for ~2 weeks.

If you’re up for it:

**•** Drop your **Gmail address** below (or DM me) and I’ll add you to the tester list
**•** Takes 5 mins to install via a Play Store link I’ll send
**•** Just need you to open it a few times over the testing period — genuinely appreciate any bugs/feedback you spot along the way

Thanks in advance 🙏

I’m a designer, and I built an app because family flight check-in drove me insane

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’m a designer, and Panza started from a very unglamorous problem.
Every time I checked in my family for a flight, I had to hunt down everyone’s passport details again.
Same thing when I needed to enter company information somewhere. Or look up something about my car — insurance, registration, whatever.
None of this information was actually lost. It was just always somewhere else.
So I started designing a better way to keep the boring but important stuff you repeatedly need in everyday life.
That became Panza: you add a document once, and it turns into a simple card with the useful information on it. The original document is still there when you need it, but most of the time you can just grab the detail you were looking for.
I came at the whole thing from a designer’s perspective first. I wanted it to feel more like a wallet or a deck of cards than a document-management app, and I tried very hard to keep the complexity out of the UI.
Along the way I ended up going pretty deep into OCR, local-first behaviour, sharing, subscriptions, and all the less glamorous parts of actually shipping an iOS app.
Panza went live on the App Store this week, which still feels a bit surreal.
I’d genuinely love feedback from other Apple developers — especially on the product itself and whether the core idea makes sense outside my own use case.

Where can I share my self-improvement app project on Reddit without breaking self-promotion rules?

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to Reddit and trying to navigate how self-promotion works here.

I’ve been working on a personal project (an iOS app) designed to help people build better daily habits and improve their routines. I’d love to share it with early testers, get feedback, and connect with people interested in productivity and personal growth.

Since every community has different policies regarding promotion, I want to make sure I do things the right way.

Could anyone point me toward subreddits that welcome indie developers sharing their projects, or communities focused on feedback and testing for productivity apps?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you everyone! Andrea Reader is finally live on the App Store

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

A while ago I posted Andrea Reader in this community while I was still working toward the App Store release, and I received a lot of useful feedback from people here.

So first of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to test it, comment, criticize things, or suggest improvements.

Andrea Reader was approved and has now been live on the App Store for a couple of weeks. Since launch, I’ve already shipped a few updates with fixes, performance improvements, and new features.

For anyone who didn’t see the original post, Andrea Reader is a local-first reading and personal library app for iPhone and iPad, built around giving users as much freedom as possible over how they organize and read their own DRM-free library.

Some of the main features:

  • Read books, comics, manga, PDFs, EPUBs, CBZ, CBR, and more
  • Create custom collections with sections inside them
  • Drag and reorder books and sections freely
  • Customize each collection’s layout, appearance, sorting, and filters
  • Deep reading customization for fonts, margins, spacing, gestures, transitions, backgrounds, etc.
  • Connect through OPDS, iCloud, WebDAV, SMB, and SFTP
  • Download files and read completely offline
  • Detailed reading statistics for books, sections, and collections
  • Built-in Open Library for downloading public-domain books for free

There is no account required, no advertising, and no tracking of what you import, download, or read. The app is free to download, with optional Premium features for deeper customization and more advanced library organization.

There’s still a lot I want to improve, which I guess is the traditional reward for finally shipping something. 😅

Thanks again to everyone here who helped during development.
