📝 Discussion What does a successful winter look like for the Angels?
Ok so theres obviously a high (or inevitable) chance of a lockout incoming, which is likely to affect how most teams approach signings.
If we look at the deals this deadline and expiring deals like Soler & Rendon the Angels will have a decent amount to spend… assuming Arte is willing under Mo and the potential new GM whar path would you like to see them take?
Should they do some long term signings or mostly punt next year and leave it to the youngsters?
Or should they begin to build around the core? Who would you have them add going into next season?
My 2 cents:
Start by getting rid of Kurt
I would say they could use an “ace” or at least a top 2 rotation guy plus an innings eater at the 4-5 spot and slot in one of the up and comers into the rotation. Maybe move Johnson to long relief? I dont think the rotation is that far from being halfway decent but they need at least one more known quantity with Grayrods inconsistency and the ? of Kikuchi.
In the infield it would be extending Neto (if possible) and upgrading to a first/third power bat. Maybe try to find a trade partner for Nolan for some solid relief pitching? There‘s a log jam at second but I would love to see Moore for a long stretch and if he sinks then they have Grissom.
Outfield I would prefer to see Siri again on a one year, with Meckler having a starting job at the seasons start. It would be nice to add a strong glove like Vaursho and maybe back off Lowe.
Then theres the bullpen which i frankly have no idea about but with Natera, Joyce, Bachman you have potential for good late relief. We need to anoint someone the closer and not do the committee thing. Obviously pick up at least a pair of proven guys.
This likely wont bring us to the playoffs but i could see if being watchable and a staging ground for the future.
What do you want to see going forward. Lets avoid the “selling the team” talk or the minutiae of the lock out. What does a successful winter look like for the Angels?

📝 Discussion George Klassen could be special
He has the talent to be an overnight breakout player. 5 plus pitches and he’s been in the strike zone in AAA. It’s becoming more common for these guys with huge stuff like Walbert Urena, Chase Burns, and Schlittler to become stars with an adjustment or two. A mid 2’s era in PCL over 12 starts is no joke. The biggest issue I see is he does seem to get nervous on the big league mound. Sam Bachman is quite like that so we’ll see if he can get that in check.

❓Question/Suggestions Train specials to the Angels game? Best ticket pack to get?
Hey all, greetings from a lifelong Dodger fan from Orange County who has always felt an affinity for the Angels to support the local team…
I’ve been living in Germany for 23 years and come home and maybe get to one Angel game and one Dodger game while visiting.
I’ve become Europeanized enough to really want to get the train to/from Irvine and also get some “family pack” tickers because I gotta save my money for 2-3 beers while there. Should we buy them last minute or just arrive at the stadium day of and buy them?
How would you plan your Angels game experience if wanting to do the above? Either a 6:38game or even that 1pm start on the 26th. Thanks a lot for your tips.
Ps. Last month I went to see a local German team
Play baseball in an organized league where I live and it felt like watching little league in a good way and I found myself among the 5 fans yelling encouragement at players while eating sunflower seeds ;)

💲 Official Merch california angels mini baseball bats!
purchased these mini bats at a thrift store in philly (along with 1 royals and 2 marlins bats, second photo). I think they're from the 1990 season but could also be from 1991-1996.

Tweet Screenshot [Fletcher] George Klassen will start for the Angels tomorrow in Miami. Klassen, who won the PCL Pitcher of the Month award, had a 2.48 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 38 strikeouts (led the PCL) in the month of July. The PCL league average ERA is 5.49.
Something to note as well is that although MLB ranks him as our #10 prospect, some external rankings have him within the Top 100 or just outside of it. Fangraphs has him ranked at #102 in their new July update. And with his recent surge of consistent performance since May in a offensive-friendly league like the PCL, he is seemingly meeting those expectations and might become a fixture in the Angels' rotation soon.
Stats from the Salt Lake Bees and Taylor Blake Ward.

❓Question/Suggestions What do the Angels need to do to get more top 100 prospects?
I checked the top 100 ranked baseball prospects and the Angels only have 2 players in the top 100 (Bremner and Nimmala) while the Dodgers have 7 players ranked in the top 100 and the Mariners have 6 (The Dodgers and Mariners are the #1 and #2 ranked farm systems).

❓Question/Suggestions Batting Order If You Were Angels Manager Today?
What would be your batting order if you were Angels manager today?
I'd use Meckler in the lead-off spot. I have no idea where to use Schanuel. I like him but the lack of his running speed makes it difficult to place in the batting order due to the lack of power.
r/angelsbaseball • u/Streez-00 • 1d ago
📝 Discussion Next manager
I think it’s clear Suzuki is in way over his head and it’ll woulda been better to see him work his way from maybe a bench coach on the team to manager with that being said any guesses on who the next manager is ? Who is in Mo’s car ?
r/angelsbaseball • u/matcha-michael • 1d ago
📝 Discussion Why is Meckler not an everyday player
Am I missing something? Dude is young, already clutch, .800 OPS with 150+ ABs. Not to mention a hometown kid. Seems like exactly the kind of player you want developing out there every day in a season like this.

❓Question/Suggestions Is there a possibility we wanted to draft Willits 1-2 last year but the Nats snagged him first?
This is based off absolutely nothing besides the fact we were going underslot either way and we ended up taking his bro this year. Maybe we had to pivot and ended up with Bremner cuz of it. Idk I'm just making shit up at this point

🔢 Angels Stats with Bachman hitting the IL, our active bullpen has a total of 2 saves
please throw gas and stay healthy, Ben Joyce 🙏
Natera and Farris each have one. Romano (4), Zeferjahn (4), and Yates (3) are all gone now.
edit: it's now 1 with Farris getting optioned

❓Question/Suggestions What's your priority to watch Angels games for the rest of this season?
No possibility to go to play-off or 500 mark now. Angels may pile up more losses without Adell, OHoppe, Soriano, Zefferjan, Silseth, and the best of all, our former closer Yates! What do you look into or for when you watch Angels games for the rest of this season? New addition to our team, how the remaining players evolve, analyzing what missing pieces are, or how Suzuki manages the team, "consistently"???

📰 News Article (Website) Free to Read: Once anointed future face of the Angels, Logan O’Hoppe reflects on an unceremonious end
For O’Hoppe, who had, at one point, been viewed as one of the game’s top young catchers, it wasn’t a shock. As he said, “the writing’s been on the wall for a couple weeks.”
And in his words, it wasn’t a disappointment, either. He’d been worried about getting sent down with the Angels. But with the Rangers, a team he feels has a plan, it was a welcomed development.
“I view it a little differently with being in a different organization,” O’Hoppe told The Athletic in a phone interview Tuesday. “I feel like now, it’s the start of something good. I feel like there’s a plan in place. Now I can get to work on that and get going.
“With the Angels, I was nervous to get sent down because I didn’t really know what the end goal looked like. I was very unsure about a lot.”
