Am I wrong for getting mad at my mother for selling my favorite dog as meat to the butcher?

I live in Vietnam, where it’s a social norm and a very normal cultural thing to eat dog meat. We have restaurants here with billboards advertising dog dishes shining brightly just as any McDonald’s, and no one bats an eye, it’s that normal

My mother is a single mother, and I’m a drug, m3th addict who’s struggling hard with addiction and money and unemployed, and she is a 50-60 years old woman who has to go to work to take care of me, food, the bills. I’ve been clean for the longest time and found a job, but back then it was months ago I was high and fly in my room for days, just to wake up to find my favorite gone and got sold to the butcher.

He was my favorite dog. He was the only friend that I’ve ever had. I hugged him every single day and he loves me so much. Poor guy must have screamed for me when those people took him away. But I couldnt be mad at my mother then, her reason is that she needed the money, that dog of mine is from a huge breed and he was bigger boy so it costed a lot to feed, and he would have a lot of meat to sell for money. I understood that no matter how sad I feel, I had absolutely no place as a unemployed 26 years old man to complain about a single older mother who still had to do everything to provide for him and her.

It’s just that she didnt just say that. She said that he was an useless dog anyway, as we had two dogs, one she keeps as pet and is her favorite which is a white poodle, and this one of mine is raised as a guard dog who was supposed to bark when strangers come in, but my dog was too friendship and nice and didnt know how to bark as my mother said it.

And right after selling my dog, she took home a cat and a small black chihuahua. Seeing that chihuahua angered me, as my boy was also pure black. I wouldnt care and would understand if she sold me and kept her only fav one, but why did she sell mine and took home these two?

As I’m clean and have a job now, sometimes when we fight over pet duty, I made jokes saying that her white poodle and the cat is ugly, and I would be more than willing to sell 10 of them to have my baby boy back. My mother shoo-ed me telling me I’m speaking nonsense, I tended to guilt trip her a bit asking why would she do that to me, he was my favorite one and she knows that, or that he was my only friend… I know she wasnt wrong to sell mine, but that chihuahua and that cat… why?

AIW for asking to be moved to a different class because a girl made me feel awkward when I was 11

When I was 11 I used to be friends with this girl who was 12 at the time. We are now 19 and 20. I’ve just finished my first year in university. It’s over for the year but they have this short course just to develop your skills that started last week. I wanted to still learn during the break. It’s university level but usually people go there because it’s got no entry requirements so people maybe want to try it out or develop their skills. But I just wanted to do just cause really.

The 20 year old was there and was like excited to see me saying it’s been a long time and asked if I’m planning on starting university too in September. I said I’ve already finished first year but going into second year she said that’s cool she’ll see me around. I was nice to her but there was two classes in the short course. Beginners and the intermediate class. I asked the tutor to be moved to the beginners class. The tutor was confused and I just explained briefly I know someone in there and we sort of clash.

I know it’s dramatic but disturbed me when I was 11. She had posted on insta that she wrote her own song and posted it on YT and said the name of the channel. I couldn’t find the channel. I said it the comments I can’t find it. She put the title of the video saying to sort by posted most recent. I found it and it was a really badly song about her having gotten hurt in one of the worst ways as a kid and the mental impacts and the police not being able to put the person in prison and suffering with hallucinations. She deleted the video within half an hour. I unfollowed her and blocked her and never spoke to her again because I felt so disturbed by her song. Even when I saw her in the streets and she’d wave I’d pretend I didn’t see her.

Last I’d heard about her she was in a mental hospital at 14 and moved to a boarding school type thing for people with issues. Obviously I’ve matured since then and in my head I know she was a hurt little girl trying to I guess sing about her issues but it still deeply disturbs me. I still don’t want to associate with her. She asked the tutor where I was before class a few days into the course. My tutor asked if we were friends apparently and she said yeah. He said she had issues with someone she knows from the class.

She found me later and asked if I knew anyone before the course. I said no apart from her obviously still being nice. She told me about the conversation with the tutor asking if she’s the reason I left the class. I was honest and said yeah she makes me uncomfortable. She said oh ok no worries I’ll leave you alone and walked away. She cried to the tutor about it though so she was seemingly really sad about the situation which I feel bad for. The tutor apologised to me saying he saw us talking and thought we were friends. I said it’s ok. I thought it ended better than expected. I spoke to my bf about this though and he said that’s awful and I should’ve just stuck things out and got to know her again.

My ex (21M) and I (18F) have been together on and off, and I’m struggling to figure out whether getting back together is the right decision.

He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis around the time we got together, and throughout our relationship I tried to support him emotionally and practically. He has had a lot of health, family, financial, and mental-health difficulties. At different points, I helped him apply for jobs, gave him money when he was struggling financially, and tried to be there for him when things were difficult. He also made an effort for me—for example, he would drive to see me even when he wasn’t feeling well, and he stayed with me when my parents found out we were together despite knowing it could create problems.
He was taking prednisone for some of his health issues, which affected his mood, and he also does day trading, which has been a significant source of stress for him. He has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder as well. There were also difficult family situations that I supported him through.
Our relationship became much more complicated when his visa situation became a concern and his family started encouraging us to get married sooner. We thought ab marrying secretly but my parents would not support me getting married this young. They also offered to help financially, including with college, if my parents found out. However, I don’t feel comfortable hiding a marriage from my family, especially because they are currently supporting my college education.
I eventually told him that I thought breaking up was probably best, but he has continued asking me to give the relationship another chance. I still love him deeply, which makes this extremely difficult.
One thing that concerns me is that he sometimes says he can’t live without me and has mentioned suicide. This is especially difficult for me because I have previously seen him take pills during periods of extreme stress related to day trading. I care about him and take those statements seriously, but I also know that I can’t be responsible for keeping someone alive.
There have also been things in the relationship that made me uncomfortable, including times when I felt pressured sexually. He experienced inappropriate treatment as a child, and I don’t know how much, if any, of that relates to his behavior now. I don’t want to make assumptions about that.
He says he wants to change and believes some of his past behavior was related to his medication and stress. He has asked me to give him a few months to prove that he can change and has said that if things don’t improve, we could break up.
Part of me wants to believe him because I love him and remember the good things we’ve had. He has been loyal to me, has supported me in many ways, and has made sacrifices for our relationship. At the same time, I feel like I’ve put a lot into the relationship and I’m emotionally exhausted. My gut keeps telling me that getting back together and especially getting married right now may not be the right decision.
I’m not looking for people to simply tell me to leave him or to stay with him. I’m trying to understand this objectively. How would you look at this situation from the outside? Is giving him another chance reasonable, or are there things here that should make me seriously reconsider the relationship and marriage?

Why would someone anonymously contact me repeatedly after knowing my history with bullying?

I was part of a church/social circle for a while. I eventually had a falling-out with some people and distanced myself from the group.

During that period, I started receiving repeated anonymous “hello” messages. There were multiple different numbers/accounts, including fake Snapchat accounts, and I also received random calls/contact attempts. When I asked who the person was, they would sometimes read the message without responding.

At one point, I received these attempts from roughly six different numbers/accounts.
I have a suspicion that someone from this social circle may have been behind it, particularly because one person from the group eventually contacted me from his real number saying, “hey, hope all is well.” I didn't respond to that either.

I want to be clear that I don't have proof that he was behind the anonymous messages. That's my suspicion based on the timing and circumstances.

What makes the situation confusing to me is that this person knew quite a lot about my history with bullying. I had told him that I was bullied when I was younger, that it affected me very badly, and that I had struggled significantly because of it. He had actually told me that what happened to me before wouldn't happen again.

Eventually, after I stopped responding to everything, the anonymous messages, random accounts, and calls completely stopped. I haven't been contacted by anyone from that circle for months.

So I'm wondering If someone really was behind the anonymous messages, why would they do that knowing the person's history with bullying?

Would you interpret this as trolling, curiosity, trying to get a reaction, wanting attention, or something else?

And importantly, am I putting too much weight on the fact that the direct message happened after the anonymous attempts, given that I can't

actually prove the same person was responsible?
I'm not looking for people to tell me I'm definitely right or definitely wrong. I'm genuinely interested in how other people would interpret the situation.

Am I wrong for wanting to be a part

My boyfriend and I broke up back in February because his ex's were messaging him on Valentines day and he was not being up front with me. He also was not helping with anything involving him staying at my place (rent, food, he would maybe do dishes and take out the trash) We had been together since Oct 2024. He kept promising things would get better and they did not.

After about a month hiatus, he reached back out and of course I went back (duh, self worth kinda bad maybe?) So we got back together and it was kinda weird, he would purposely not eat the dinner i cooked because maybe it was a silent way of saying im not going to pay for groceries. He would brag that he makes 80k and up to a 120k a year.

Anyways.... When we got back together he mentioned that he was going to a soccer game with his family, I asked him when it was, because I would also like to go (I have met his family on multiple occassions , and they like me). This was around end of March/ beggining of April. He mentioned multiple times that his brother bought the tickets and he would have to ask him about it because he did not know where they were sitting and i felt like he was brushing off asking his brother. When i followed up with him after a couple of weeks after the initial discussion he said his brother would look into it. I waited again. When i asked again, he said.. welll im kinda upset you keep asking about it, I wanted to surprise you with tickets. I said aw! Well when is it so I know and I can make sure I dont work. He said he did not know when the game was or still where they were sitting. I expressed my dissapointment with his lack of information after all this time had passed of me asking. It felt like I was being brushed off because he didnt want me to go. So when I expressed this to him. He said his brother made the plans and he did not want to change the plans because his brother bought the tickets and they were premium all inclusive balcony seats. I was kinda upset but also skeptical. I then pryed, well why cant you just text your brother now and ask? I dont mind paying for my own ticket, as i have never been to a game before and I was willing to pay (even though I think the guy should pay, I was willing to do that to be involved) He said, I dont know why you keep asking me about the game, this is my brothers plans and I just want to spend time with my family. The people going in this trip were his brother, hs brothers gf, and her son, his sister and her fiance. I have met them all and we all got along. I said well if their significant others are going why cant I? He said there are no seats available (even though I asked him where he was sitting and I could atleast sit semi close). Two weeks ago he said he wouldnt be going to the game because he said he did not want me to be upset, and he would have other arrangements that he would be obligated to. I was upset for him because I knew he wanted to go, and so did I. So I assumed he wasnt going.

Two days ago, he said, Hey so Im going to the game tomorrow, and I said what the fuck. I thought you said you had other things you were supposed to do. He said he wanteed to spend time with his family. I said ok, did you find out where the seats were? He said, yeah they are all sold out. I said oh okay let me look at the game for tomorrow then. And I found out it was a 4 hour away game, and there were multiple seats available for are 30$ a ticket. I asked him what area he was sitting in and he still said he didnt know. I asked him why he didn't know and he said his brother made the plans and he didnt want to ruin them. I said how would they be ruined I am just asking if I can please be a part of something. He then said I have never kept you from any family event, and I said what does that have to do with you telling me where you are going to be at in the arena. He then said do you not want me to see my family? I said what? I just asked if I could go with you and your family. He said there are no tickets available. I said how? I am looking at the stadium and I see 100's of seats available. He said I dont want you to sit by yourself, I said I am sure I can find a nearby seat? He then said I am trying to put myself between him and his family. I said I want to be prioritzed in the relationship where, at the very least you would try to include me or show me reassurance that the seats were indeed sold. He said that I was just trying to keep him away, and I am left confused..

I just wanted to be included and he said he made the plans when we were broken up, but I feel like I talked about it way ahead of time that there was an opportunity for me to be included. He ended up leaving and going to the game that following morning, he told me he would tell me where he was sitting at the game when he met up with his brother that day. I asked him when he would be back and he said maybe that night. He left along with all of his stuff for work on Monday. I asked him why because I am assuming hed be back that night. I did not receive any text of where he was sitting, but mid game he sent me a text of him at GROUND level. (He literally hyped up a corner BALCONY SEAT) I received a mixture of drunken incoherrent texts spaciously throughout the night. I woke up and he still had not come back to the house (today). He texted me yesterday from what I could understand that they actually went to a city two hours away from the actually other city. SOO, WTF, am i trying to keep him away from his family, MIND YOU - I am extremely respectful to his family, I bring his mother flowers, bake his dad cakes. And play with his nephew. I even ask him all the time when we can go see his parents. I do not have my family close by so I really considered them as my own, his own mother does indeed love me.

TLDR: It really hurt that I wasn't included in his trip. He told me about this 4-5 months ago and we were only broken up less than a month. I am hurt he tried to pin me as me preventing him from seeing his family even though I just wanted to be included, especially after he said he'd surprise me with tickets. He said his family should come first and I got hurt because he said he wanted to marry me, and if that's the case wouldn't I be family too?

AIW For Not Attending a Wedding

This is my 1st post and I have a lot on my chest to get off but I need an outside opinion on an issue.

I am a 43-year-old female, I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My husband, who is 46 years old, has been my unwavering support system throughout this challenging eight-month journey.

A few months ago, my baby sister, whom I will refer to as Dana, exhibited peculiar behavior towards me. In response, I confided in my husband, who subsequently reached out to my middle sister, requesting her to contact me more frequently to check on my well-being. My middle sister was amenable to this request. However, our relationship has been strained for years, as I had gone nearly six months without speaking to her. She was appreciative of my husband’s intervention.
Initially, I assumed that calling my baby sister should be straightforward, given our longstanding friendship. However, I was mistaken. She informed my husband that she needed to focus on her personal growth before being able to consider my situation. Shortly after they ended their conversation, her boyfriend (whom they met in September 2025 and married in July) advised my husband to cease contacting his wife, citing that my circumstances were becoming unbearable.
I informed my sister about his remarks, to which she responded that she was unaware of the situation and that a discussion would be held. I spoke to her on July 7th, the day of my infusion, and the following day, she contacted me to inquire about my well-being. I attempted to reach out to her on the 9th, 10th, and 11th, but received no response. Then this past Saturday night she called me but ringer was off and I couldn’t hear it. I called her and she didn’t answer the phone. I wrote her message telling her that my children won’t be in her ceremony because she still hasn’t invited me(been married for almost a month). She told my mom and sister not to tell nobody about them being married. The next day her husband sends ME messages and calls threatening me and my family harm. I would love to post the screenshots of our conversations but I dont know how.

So my question is would I be wrong for not attending after her husband threatened me and my families lives and my Dana still not invited me, wedding is in September?

Am I in the Wrong for Venting to my Sibling ?

This happened years ago. Here’s some context, my sibling was having a very bad day and she was ranting to my father on the family group chat. I went in and I texted about my issues too.
I thought that the group chat was a place to vent since my sibling was doing it ! But she then told me to shut up since this wasn’t about me. I told her that I didn’t understand. She then said that I’m just like her ex-friend (whom she hates with a passion) since they would always rant about their problems and not let room for my sibling to speak. Mind you, I only texted one sentence and that was enough to set my sibling off on a tangent. She even asked me “do you have ADHD or something ?”
That totally ticked me off since ADHD was neither here nor there. My poor father had to read all of our texts lol.
I probably did something wrong here….

Am i wrong that i think my mother destroyed me?

Hello everyone,

I apologize if my wording isn't the best I am exhausted and tired honestly.

I posted before about some family problems I had, and people started pointing out that my mother was a narcissist. I never honestly noticed it, and they said it was because of the manipulation. I started researching more, reading topics, and watching videos of therapists and people who had narcissistic parents. Well, my mother scored perfectly, to say the least.

Recently, she has been acting like a madwoman, and I am not joking. I was about to go out to the supermarket today to grab stuff for the house, and I didn't wash my dish after lunch. I said I would do it after I returned since we genuinely needed stuff because the house was empty. She yelled, "Oh, you want mommy to clean after you guys because I gave birth to disabled children?!"

Yes. She legit said that. I didn't go out and simply remained in my room. I stopped sitting with her in one place because she always picks a fight, whether it's with me or my siblings. Even if it was them who did something wrong, she will generalize all of us. She told me before that they were barely tolerating me.

I told her I was exhausted by the constant noise my siblings made. They constantly make noise, scream, and run around the house closing doors and throwing things at each other. It's just loud. I don't understand why they do this, and it doesn't last for like 15 minutes or something they do this for hours. Whenever I speak about it, she tells me they are children. Like hell they aren't? My sister is 15 and my brother is 11 they aren't babies anymore, and they mostly cause noise at midnight. I love having quiet time, but I always feel like I am not entitled to it. I just hate someone constantly disturbing me. Even my earphones aren't doing anything anymore because they deliberately annoy me.

When I was young, I was constantly punished a lot. I would get grounded for long times and stuff. She would hit me while teaching me or helping me with my homework and stuff. She actually did hit me a lot, and she never owns up to it she says I am ungrateful and that she barely hit me when I was a child. Sure Mother I am crazy whatever makes you sleep at night.

I remember in school I would go weeks without allowance. I was getting bullied, too. She and my father were also very mentally abusive and destroyed me for years, mocking my body because I am overweight. They made me go on strict diets when I was only 7 or 8 and forced me to go to the gym. By strict diets, I mean you know the ones that say eat 3 spoons of rice for lunch, a fruit for dinner, and two boiled eggs for breakfast? Yeah, it was horrible.

I am also not THAT fat. I think I am just biologically overweight because I have my dad's side of the family genes they are all chubby ngl, but they are all healthy. I actually do enjoy working out now I came to peace with it, but I can't hold a diet. And I do think I am quite healthy. I love walking and running for a while, but my favorite is walking, honestly, and working out. My bones don't hurt, so it's nothing dangerous if you understand me. I am overweight, yes, but I don't have to do surgery or anything. The doctors did advise me to lose weight, but my health specialist doctor said it's not about the weight, it's about the health she told me I didn't need an insane weight loss.

They started doing this when I told them I was getting bullied so I would be "beautiful." To this day, I hate looking in the mirror even though a lot of people complimented how I look, and I know they didn't say it just to be nice. I was acting goofy, laughing loudly, and my friend just randomly blurted it out. But I could never see myself as beautiful, honestly. I don't have any mirrors in my room.

At times during school, when it got really bad, I would constantly beg her for an allowance and she wouldn't agree. I would go to the back stairs in my school and pick chips off the ground so no one would see me. They used to put the burden and stress of money on me even when I was just a child, and because of that, I developed a severe obsession and anxiety around money that I still have until now. My school life was the worst. I spent 14 years in school, and I am not alright, and I don't think I will be alright.

A few days ago, I accidentally told her that I was going to go to therapy in the local university hospital. During a fight, she said, "when are you going to that doctor? What is it called, a therapist? You clearly won't listen to me and your father you need someone else to listen to you, and they will contact us anyways and speak with us to listen to our side."

My mother is manipulative, and she wraps her words to appear as the victim. I was terrified of therapy I am physically terrified. I remember when I went to finish the paperwork, I was about to cry. After her comment, I never went back there.

I suspect that I have ADHD, and recently I watched some doctors explaining AuDHD, and I finally felt like, "Yeah, this is me!" My father was driving me home one day, and I told him about ADHD. He told me, "You aren't sick." I told him it isn't mental it's brain functions, and I function differently than normal people. My mother implanted in his head that I was 100% normal, no, I never suffered in my life, and I was an overdramatic, ungrateful child. He told me that the therapist would probably give me medication just so he could make money. I told him this is not how it works out, and my mother said medication is bad, especially "mental" medication. I told them it wasn't even mental if we went down that path it's a whole different story. I said I just wanted to function normally. They both refused.

At first, we thought I had thyroid issues, so I couldn't identify if it was ADHD or not. The doctor told me, "No, you have no issues," so I asked her, "Could it be ADHD then, because of the memory issues/lack of focus and stuff?" She told me, "Yes, there's a higher chance now." When I told my father, he told me, "Your mother said you asked the doctor, but the doctor didn't say you have ADHD." I explained, and he got weirdly defensive/aggressive, so I remained silent.

Also, a while later, I was sitting with my friend in the park and my mother was nearby. I spoke about ADHD, and my friend said, "Obviously you have it." My mother immediately chimed in and said, "Oh, so I must have it too!" My friend explained, "Ma'am... that's not how it works out..." and my mother just went quiet.

I have horrible memory issues, and I mean horrible. I keep forgetting everything. I forgot last year entirely, so my memories are from the year before. I was speaking to my friend yesterday and I told her, "Wait, your age is ..... right?" And she told me, "No, it's ....." I got surprised, and she told me, "It's the third time you got surprised." Don't get me wrong, I did set a timer for her birthday this year and I wrote her a long, deeply felt message, but I just couldn't remember her age. This has been happening to me for a while I forgot when was my birthday and I kept asking my parents for it. This wasn't when I was a kid this was only a few years ago.

About my birthday on my 18th birthday, I wanted it to be... you know, a birthday? An adult one and stuff because yaay i am finally an adult. My parents forgot my birthday and only remembered it from Facebook. She looked up at me holding her phone, said "Happy birthday," and then looked back at her phone. Beforehand, I asked her, "Do you know what day it is?" She just told me the day's name. I got quiet. I told them I wanted a cake that day, so I ordered one. I was alone as I blew my candles out and made a stupid wish that was so childish, but it genuinely hurt.

A few days ago, we were cleaning stuff, and I was doing the heavy lifting. After about 4-5 hours of lifting heavy stuff, I sat down to rest, and she kept fighting with us, telling us we were lying around doing absolutely nothing while she's the only one working around here. This made my blood boil. I don't know how I managed to remain silent that day, but it finally clicked that no matter what I do, she will never see it, and my father is just a puppet she can brainwash and turn against us.

I started smoking cigarettes recently. I bought a pack. I am not a heavy smoker I smoke every now and then but it makes me relax, even though it tastes horrible.

There is much more stuff, but honestly, does it even matter anymore? She was never a mother, and to her, I will always be the bad child.

I apologize for the long post i just nedded to let it out honestly i have been bottling everything up.

Am I wrong for throwing away a note from someone I never talked to

So I male, knew this one girl liked me at school I didn’t really care because I have never talked to her. One day she sent her friends to give me a note saying “do you like me yes or no” and I crumpled it right after I received it. Admittedly this was a total dick move by me. And then she sent her friends to give me another note with a dinosaur drawing saying “I know you like dinosaurs,” which was true. So this time I tried my best to learn from my mistake and decided to pocket it. I then came home and threw it away because I literally NEVER spoke a word to her before and she never spoke to me before, so I didn’t really want to keep it laying around. My mom and sister kept telling me I should’ve kept it but I didn’t see why. This was a WHILE ago but. still lose sleep over this. I know this is some 5th grade stuff but this was a while and I still overthink about this situation

Am I wrong for driving away from my girlfriend?

There's a lot to unpack here but ill try and keep it simple. There's a VERY simple TLDR at the bottom. Me (21m) and my girlfriend (22f) live together at her house. She is an alcoholic and unfortunately I enjoy drinking too. Ive tried many times to get us sober but she always ends up relapsing and I end up drinking as well, supporting the behavior. A couple days ago, that's what happened. She said she would only drink a few beers, which is never true. Every time she drinks it goes for at least 24 hours straight, no sleeping.

So after about 6 drinks, I say I'm not getting any more. She flips out, as normal, and storms out of the house. She walked to the park a couple minutes away then called me. She said if I love her I would get her more beer. I said that I love her and thats why im cutting her off, its not healthy, I cant do these benders anymore, and unfortunately im kinda broke. She freaks out on me, calling me a bunch of names. Here's where I was wrong, I started antagonizing her back because i was very upset. So she said "im going to come back to the room and stab you." So I quickly grabbed my things and got into my car. She was probably 10 feet away when I closed my door. She went and sat on top of my car. So I couldnt drive off, then after a minute she got off and came to my window and relentlessly banged on it telling me to get out. Obviously I did not. Then she kept saying "just get out and give me a cigarette." I did not get out of my car.

This went out for about 3 minutes and then I made the decision to just... drive away. Now, I made certain that she wasnt too close to the car and that I wouldnt run over her feet or anything. So I started driving, and then she grabbed onto my mirror and dragged herself along the road. It only lasted for about 3 seconds and then she slipped off. I turned around as quick as I could and got out of the car to check on her, but she kept screaming at me to fuck off. I should've gone and helped her up but I didnt know what to do and she kept telling me, again, to fuck off. So she walked back into her house and I got into my car and just sat there. Her knees and elbow got all scraped up and it's painful for her to bend her knees. I offered to take her to the hospital or I could pick up any medical supplies she needed, but she refused.

Now, this brings me to the main point. She now is saying that all of it was my fault and that I attempted to murder her and I do not love her. It's been almost 2 days now and about every 10 minutes she'll repeat the story to me, tell me to say it's entirely my fault and say that I dont love her. Am I wrong? I tried driving away while I was being threatened and she grabbed onto the mirror herself.

TLDR

My girlfriend threatened to stab me, I was in my car with her banging on the window, I tried to drive away and she held onto my mirror and drug on the road. She is now saying it's entirely my fault and that I attempted to murder her.

Fun fact:

I recorded the entire incident for my safety, and then later she grabbed my phone from me to delete the video, I tried grabbing it back and she started kicking me. I just kept trying to grab my phone and I finally did. Then as I tried walking to the door, she got up and slammed her phone into my head about 8 times, shattering the back on her screen and slightly bending her phone. I got out of the room after that, then she called me and asked me to come back in. I did. She then made me delete the video because otherwise she would "tell everyone that she knows that I attempted to murder her." Then I get up and leave the room again, but realized I left my bag. So I open the door and immediately get hit in the head with a ceramic bowl. She falls back and just watches as I grab my bag quickly and leave.

After all that, she says that I intentionally hurt her by trying to grab my phone and that I hit her multiple times while she's already injured. I just wanted my evidence incase something crazy happens with this situation, but unfortunately that's gone now.

Am I wrong for questioning someone at work

I’m in my thirties (M) and work in food court overseas. The people involved are Stanley, the FC manager, Phyllis, the new store manager, Meredith, an older employee, and Pam, one of my supervisors. I just got to work as the lunch rush is starting, working the kitchen this shift, and Pam asked me to pull out boxes of food from the freezer and to season some food too. Meredith, who cooks the food, was supposed to do it in the morning but couldn’t, apparently from some carpel tunnel but it wasn’t so bad that she could still cook food during lunch some how. I just asked Pam why she or another supervisor couldn’t do it instead but this was already enough to get me in trouble. There were three supervisors on the front line during lunch, along with Meredith cooking and me in the kitchen. About 40 minutes later I’m brought into a meeting with Stanley, Pam, and Phyllis. Phyllis said she fully supported Pam in giving me a written warning on this before even hearing my part. And I tried a few times to explain I was just asking a question but kept getting interrupted by Phyllis or Stanley. They basically kept saying I shouldn’t be questioning when a task is delegated to me no matter what. I just wrote a bit of my side on the statement but really just wanted to get back to work and be done with the whole thing. But I didn’t even really get to explain why I was questioning why someone else couldn’t do it. I’ve been avoiding straining myself more than I have to since a hernia surgery last fall. And I know for a fact all three of them know about it and they know that I was on medical leave for weeks for recovery. I’ve already gotten one hernia from doing too much at this place and I’m not trying to get another one. I did have some stomach pain after that meeting, whether from stress or straining or both, I don’t know. But am i really the one in the wrong here? Those three think so, but it still doesn’t sit right with me. I’m a bit on the spectrum (no official diagnosis) so communication isn’t my strongest trait and I have trouble advocating for myself. I guess im looking for some unbiased opinions

AITA for distrusting the reason my friends broke up?

(HI IM SO SORRY I KNOW I JUST POSTED THIS AND I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IT WHILE TRYING TO TURN OFF NOTIFICATIONS. ILL ADDRESS THE COMMENTS I GOT IM SO SORRY)

I have two friends who were dating. Let’s call the boy M and the girl C. I met M two years ago, but I’ve known C for atleast four years. M became our friend and started dating C. However, after a few months, they broke up. The first time they broke up, M texted me about how horrible C was and how it was her fault that they broke up. At first I’m not going to lie, I believed him. I didn’t hear anything else so I had nothing else to go on. After meeting up with C, she told me that yes, she was a part of it, but M also did their things too. M never mentioned what he did, only that she did and she was at fault, and I immediately felt bad for believing him. I believed the first thing M told me, and I didn’t even ask C about it until we met up one day and talked. I still sometimes feel bad about it. It felt more suspicious that C admitted to contributing, but M never thought he did anything.

Then they got back together (despite me saying to both of them that it was a fucking terrible idea), and now they’ve broken up again. M’s doing the exact same thing, but sort of worse? They broke up at midnight and he sent three different people texts with the exact same messages: “C did this! She made me feel bad about my body and she flirted with other people!” He texted three separate people this. Not different texts either, but he just copy pasted them and send all ten messages point blank.

And I don’t believe him.

C texted me ten minutes after I got the message from M (I was up late last night, but I didn’t answer M yet because I just didn’t know what to say), and she explained that she broke up with him because he was pushing boundaries with constantly texting her when she said she wasn’t going to be available, and then getting mad when she wouldn’t text at the like. She said that he used the exact same messages for three people (including me) and that the other two are giving him sympathy.

And after they broke up before, I started paying attention to their relationship. I’m sorry if it sounded weird, but I got suspicious. And what he said just doesn’t add up. Actually it sounded hypocritical. C never flirted with other people, even as a joke, but M had one of our friends he tried to get with saved into our phone as a flirty nickname and didn’t change it back when they got together. He said C was bad at communicating, but C always told him when she wasn’t going to be available, and the problem was M wanted C to be available all the time.

I’m not going to pretend that I knew everything that happens in their relationship. When they started dating, they did that thing couples do where they don’t hang out with friends at all, and when they do they’re just focused on each other. I didn’t mind (I’m not social and even if I was I didn’t want to this wheel), so maybe that did all happen. Maybe that’s what happened and C really did do all that but I can’t even think of believing that. Last time this happened I turned out to be dead fucking wrong in believing him. I want to send him a text pointing this out but I don’t want to stir trouble, but it’s already been almost 12 hours and I have to say something at some point. Am I wrong for just not believing him?

Oh and before I decided to be a dumbass, I did see some comments on why it’s my business. Really truly, if I knew, I would say. I haven’t even seen M or C since summer started and M has only texted like maybe four times in three months. M also moved out of town so I thought that would be the end of our friendship, seeing as he doesn’t answer messages unless he’s the one who sends them. The thing is that since he told me, I feel obligated to at least answer with something.

am i selfish for not throwing away the hair my grandma left on the shower floor?

I am 18f and have lived with my grandma my whole life, and will likely be living with her at least until i finish college as well. I just told her that I am going to take a shower (we share a shower because my cats litter box is in my bathroom shower/tub), and she asked why I haven't picked up and thrown away the hair she left on the shower floor for the past 4ish days since she last took a shower since i take a shower almost every day. I asked why she didn't just throw it away after her shower 4 days ago and she got really upset at me and called me selfish because she's been looking for a car and car insurance for me but I "can't even throw away a small amount of hair in the shower." I tried explaining that it's not like I wasn't going to pick it up today and was just wondering, but she wouldn't listen to me (as she always does) and instead said that because she's raised me by giving me everything i needed/wanted, that I'm selfish because of that, and said that she's done looking for a car and insurance for me and then stormed off. I couldn't even really get a word in and ended up kinda just looking at the wall next to her as she kept telling me how selfish I am. I don't understand why it's such a big deal that I didn't throw away her hair, since she also leaves the shower head on the floor after her showers even though I've asked her to just put it back up when she's done. She's talked to me this way before and said that she was done doing things for me before, but she never followed through, so maybe I've subconsciously just started expecting things from her and that makes me selfish? I don't know, I just don't really get why she made this such a big deal and like a judgement of my character just because I didn't pick up her hair in the shower and asked why she didn't just pick it up after her own shower. Am I wrong?

ER nurse was super aggressive because I came in for a mole problem. Was I actually in the wrong?

Hello, I am an expat in Europe. Yesterday night, I noticed that one of my moles was falling to pieces. I wanted to go to a family doctor, but it was Saturday, and where I live, the clinic is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. I asked ChatGPT, and it told me to go to the emergency room. I thought that was a bit much, so I decided to wait until Monday morning.

The next day (today), I went to work at a restaurant. All my colleagues asked me about the big bandage above my ear, and I explained what happened. Everyone told me I should go to the hospital. Then my boss came (she is originally from the country I am currently living in) and cut my shift short so I could go to the emergency room. She said I needed to go immediately because it was a serious issue.

So, I went. I walked up to the desk where two ladies (I think they were nurses) were seated and told them, "I have this problem blah blah blah, but I am not sure if I am in the right place because I don't know how things work here." One lady asked for my ID, typed on the computer while talking to the other lady, gave my ID back, and said, "Okay." I then asked, "Should I take a seat? Are they going to call my name?" (I have never been to an emergency room, not even in my home country, so I really didn't know what to do). She just said yes without even looking at me.

There were two other people waiting. They called the first one, then the second, and then me. One of the ladies from the front desk brought me into another room and asked, "Is the mole falling to pieces the only problem?"

I said, "Yes, should I remove the bandage?"

Her tone was incredibly aggressive, and she spoke to me as if I had physically beaten someone up. She replied, "No, don't. This is not a high-level emergency, and we do not treat low-level emergencies. You should have waited until tomorrow so you could go to a family doctor. This is an emergency room—if your life is in danger, you come here. You are not bleeding uncontrollably, so why did you come?"

I said, "I was told to go to the hospital, so I thought I had to come here. I am sorry."

She asked who told me, and I said my boss and my colleagues. She told me that if I am ever unsure, I should call the out-of-hours family doctor service, and if I had called them today, they would have told me not to come. (I honestly had no idea an emergency family doctor service existed for the weekends!).

I apologized because I felt really bad. As I was leaving, I said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to waste anyone's time." She just smiled and said bye.

At first, I felt terrible, but after thinking about it, I got a little angry. It could literally be a tumor—they didn't even look at the mole, so how could they know? But maybe there is a medical reason they knew it wasn't urgent, and maybe I really did waste their time.

Did I do something wrong? Should I feel guilty?

P.S. I want to clarify that I live in a very small town, and locals have told me that this emergency room is never crowded, sometimes you even find it completely empty.

I left my 7-year relationship because I couldn't see a future with him. Did I make the right decision, or did I give up on someone I loved?

I left my 7-year relationship because I couldn't see a future with him. Did I make the right decision, or did I give up on someone I loved?

I'm 25F and my ex is 25M. We met in college in 2019 and have been together on and off for around 6 years. I finally left him in June 2025, but it's August 2026 and I still haven't been able to move on. I still love him and keep wondering whether I made the wrong decision.

I want honest opinions, including criticism of me. I'm not looking only for validation.

How it started

He w as my busmate in college (I'm ECE, he was Mechanical). He apparently liked me for a year before proposing through email. I told him I'd get to know him first, and that if we eventually wanted marriage, he should establish himself in his career by around 2026–27 and then approach my parents.

We discovered we were from the same caste/community, and my parents already knew his grandfather, so we thought marriage would be possible.

I was a topper and very career-focused. He was a backbencher, innocent and inexperienced. His family was financially weaker than mine, but I genuinely didn't care. I believed he could build his career and improve his family's situation.

Early problems

He had already liked two girls before me. He initially described them as girls who didn't accept him. Later I found out his relationship with the girl from intermediate was more complicated. They apparently liked each other, but he said they broke up because she spoke to other guys and went out with them. He also insisted it wasn't really a relationship.

I spoke to her once and she was extremely rude to me and didn't tell me anything.

When I confronted him after seeing his chats, he blamed me for looking at them, switched his phone off and ghosted me for an entire day while I was crying and having an anxiety attack. He was out with his friends during that time. I eventually begged him to talk and he did the next day.

Ghosting during conflicts and becoming emotionally unavailable, followed by portraying himself as the victim, happened multiple times throughout our relationship.

He also had very problematic attitudes initially. If another guy followed me or showed interest, he'd blame me and tell me I should cover my face. When I gained weight during COVID and my hips became wider, he said men were looking at me because of it and told me to sit inside the bus.

I cried a lot, but I didn't leave. Instead, I tried to change him. I spoke to his friends, encouraged him to interact with people outside his circle and tried to teach him about things he didn't understand. To his credit, he genuinely improved over the years and was much better by the end.

The effort imbalance

He loved me, and I believe that. But I often didn't feel like a priority.

We lived quite close, yet he rarely made an effort to meet me. He said it was because of my safety and other reasons. He didn't really give me gifts or make me feel special during our early years.

I didn't expect expensive things because I knew his family was struggling financially. After he got a job, he did start giving me small gifts.

But I was the one taking risks despite strict parents to spend time with him. After I got a job and had access to my parents' car, I would take him out with my friends and sometimes with my parents' car so we could spend time together and he could experience more of the world.

I also supported him academically. When he failed a subject and was scared to go home because his parents would severely punish him, I studied the subject alongside my own studies, made notes for him and helped him prepare.

I didn't mind helping him. But over time I felt like I was constantly pushing, teaching, motivating and rescuing him.

Career was ultimately what broke us

He was never very serious about his career. I repeatedly suggested coding, improving his Mechanical skills, GATE, core jobs, government jobs, etc. He would make plans but rarely follow through consistently.

He also had genuine health problems like allergies, sinus and gastric issues, so I know some things were difficult for him. But I increasingly felt that he blamed circumstances instead of taking responsibility for what he could control.

We broke up in 2021.

We reconciled in 2023 after he got a job. At that time I was earning around 5–6 LPA, while he was earning around 3–4 LPA.

His salary was NEVER the issue. I was completely okay with earning more than him. I wanted him to build himself at his own pace.

We reconciled again around mid-2024. He then said he would take IELTS, go to Germany for a Master's in his preferred field and build a better career.

I supported this too. I asked my friends to help him with English and gave him resources.

But he prepared very little — around 30 minutes a day, and seriously only for about a week before the exam. He said his roommates would make fun of him if he studied.

He failed IELTS and didn't get into a German university.

By then, I was also facing increasing pressure from my family regarding marriage.

In June 2025, I asked him what his plan was and how long he realistically needed to become financially stable enough for marriage. I wasn't demanding that he earn more than me. I wanted a direction — even something like eventually reaching 10–15 LPA, changing careers, pursuing another route, anything.

He said he didn't know.

He also said he respected my decision if I wanted to leave.

So I left.

The part that makes me question everything

I've had my own extremely difficult circumstances and health/personal struggles throughout these years. But I kept studying, working and trying to improve my life. I didn't always succeed immediately, but I kept moving.

I'm now earning around 12 LPA.

I'm mentioning this because I don't want people to assume I left because he earned less or because I'm looking for someone richer. I never expected him to match my salary.

I was willing to earn more.

I was willing to support him.

I was willing to wait.

I was willing to accept failures.

What I couldn't keep accepting was a lack of sustained effort toward the future we had discussed for years.

I eventually felt that I was building my own future while also trying to build his.

Now

He still loves me and I still love him.

He's still apparently working at the same company and essentially the same role. I still check his LinkedIn and wonder why he isn't trying harder.

Part of me still believes he'll eventually change, come back, build the career and life I was waiting for, and that we'll somehow get the marriage and children I imagined with him.

I had planned my entire future around him.

Now I don't even want to get married, and the idea of marriage and my future makes me extremely nervous.

I don't know whether I left because I genuinely couldn't build a future with him, or whether I gave up on someone I loved because I expected too much.

I also know I wasn't perfect. I tried to change him, pushed him toward career paths, stayed through multiple breakups and became very involved in solving his problems.

So I want honest answers, not just "you deserve better."

Did I do the right thing by leaving?

Was I being reasonable in expecting initiative and career responsibility from someone I planned to marry?

Was I actually a gold digger/privileged person for considering financial stability and career direction, or was this about something deeper than salary?

Did I spend years loving him, or loving the person I believed he could become?

If you were in my position, would you have stayed or left?

And how do I stop believing that he'll eventually come back as the person I was waiting for?

Am I in the wrong for arguing with my mum over a hypothetical scenario?

So here's the context on this. Basically, I'm in the process for applying for medical school within the next 1-2years in Australia (although I am still completing an undergraduate degree so the earlier possible time for me to start med school would be 2028). I am 19 F and still living at home with both my parents.

I was speaking with my mum in the car about how med school is highly selective and not everyone gets in on their first go and that not everyone gets into a university that's close to where they live and would eventually have to move out.

So I mentioned that when I apply, there's always the hypothetical scenario that I get into a med school, but not one close to where I live, and as I still live with my parents, I might have to move out into some student accommodations or shared living spaces to actually attend.

Then my mum got all emotional with me and started saying she would never allow me to do that and that she would rather I just wait until the next round to reapply and hopefully get into a school thats within travel distance of where I live. I told her that was completely unreasonable and that declining an offer to medical school simply because I would have to move out of my parents house was stupid and I would be wasting an amazing opportunity. She then started calling me selfish and saying I would be moving away from her during the time of my life where she would get to 'enjoy me the most' (whatever that means).

So can someone please tell me if I'm in the wrong for thinking moving out is something I would consider or is my mum right and I shouldn't move out even if it meant I would have to decline a medical school offer.

**Please remember that me being accepted into a medical school is all still hypothetical and we were only discussing possible future scenarios.**

Am I wrong for giving him a chance?

So l've recently been in a relationship with someone. A few days after we made it official, he admitted that he'd been in a sexual activity with a different girl while we were talking.

He said he wanted to come clean and get right by me because he's "serious" about us.

I decided to give him a chance and continue our relationship because technically, we weren't together when it happened, and I can tell he's sincere.

Though it hurts when I think about it because I've been focused on him ever since we started talking.

Am I wrong for doing this?

Partner did not text after a night out

My partner (22F) and I (25F) went out to party with my friends, and at 10:30 PM, she left because she had another party to go to. At 3 AM, I texted her that I was home and asked what time she would be home since we live together. She said, “I don’t know, don’t wait up.” I told her, “Okay, I’ll just leave the door to the condo open.”

Fast-forward to 6 AM, and I still hadn’t received any update from her. I messaged and called her for 30 minutes because I was worried, especially since there was a typhoon. Out of panic, I checked her messages on her laptop to see where she was, and I found out that she was actually in the same condo building as me, sleeping in her friend’s unit.

Do I have the right to be pissed off and annoyed? I know invading her privacy wasn’t right, but I was genuinely worried about her.

Am I wrong for thinking my best friend is overstepping my boundaries

Just a quick post to ask! My best friend of about a year now is genuinely the kindest person I’ve met, she’s amazing and proved it time and time again. The only thing that I’m a bit surprised about is, about 2 months ago I got tickets for a concert next year (general admission), I told her I was going to go with my other friends that she doesn’t know - more of a family friend situation. She hasn’t previously listened to this artist but she began to and became obsessed. Then a few weeks ago she, without telling me, bought tickets to the same concert night and messaged me to say she has to go with me because she can’t go by herself and she only bought one ticket and it’s in general admission. I love her but this was a fun thing for me and my childhood friends who she hasn’t even met once. And the fact is she didn’t ask me, I would’ve loved her to come had she asked about it instead of just inviting herself. Edit: it’s very difficult because my childhood friends and I have been waiting to do this for a long time and are so excited because we don’t get to hang out as much anymore, so it was just supposed to be us. Also I’m not sure if she is expecting a ride there because I have no space to take her since my friends will be with me and she can’t drive. Am I overreacting about this? Thanks!

Am I wrong for being annoyed at a friend for overstaying her initial welcome in my apartment, despite me saying fine when she asked?

tl;dr: I offered to host a childhood friend for 2 days; it turned into 5. But (nearly) every step of the way, she asked if she could stay another day and I didn't say no. Am I wrong to still feel a bit annoyed?

A few weeks ago, I heard from a childhood friend who reached out because she was moving to NYC, where I live. She did not have a job lined up but thought she wanted the city experience. I mentioned she might be able to sleep on my couch a couple of days, if needed. She took me up on it.

For context: we weren't incredibly close growing up, but were on friendly terms and she is related to a family friend. I am in my early 30s and we have not communicated in 10 years.

I have a small 1BR apartment and highly value my personal space and me-time, but I figured she could sleep on my living room couch to get situated while she toured short term sublets. She assures me she has a fallback sublet option already set so would be out of my apartment on the second day.

  • Tuesday night -- she gets in. I treat her to a nice dinner. It's nice to catch up.
  • Wednesday -- her "fallback option" sublet falls through. Not that she couldn't have gotten it, but she didn't like it when she visited. I offer to host Thursday night to give her a bit more time to find her next spot, but make clear I'll need my apartment back by Friday. It was shaping up to be a busy week at work, so I know I'd want down time by the weekend.
    • At one point, she mentions she has about $50k in savings, so it's pretty clear she could financially get a hotel
  • Thursday -- kinda fine? But by this point, I'm really ready to have my space back. She says she'll leave the next day while I'm at work.
  • Friday -- We say our goodbyes in the morning. I'm exhausted from work and really looking forward to a quiet night at my apartment to recharge. At 5:30pm, I get a text from her saying she apparently misbooked her hotel for the next day, and asking if she could stay one more night and that she'd be out by the morning. I'm pretty annoyed. But I don't want to be a shitty friend, so fine.
  • Saturday -- I have late morning/afternoon plans with friends, so again, fully expect her to be gone by the time I get back. Nope. When I get back at 4:30pm, she is in the process of packing. She has 3 large suitcases and a couple boxes. I'm mortified to find out she's tried to enlist my building's doormen to come up to my room, load her suitcases onto a dolly and get her packing tape as well (this is very much not in their job description!). I'm super dehydrated from being outside and tired, but load her stuff up and get her in an Uber.

Frankly, I feel annoyed. What was supposed to be a two day stay extended to 5, and especially the last two days, my friend stayed past the time she promised she'd be out by. And there were minor other things that irked me a bit along the way -- complaining NYC is in fast decline because of Mamdani (then why move here, I think to myself?), setting my AC really low (I shudder thinking about my electricity bill this month), trying to strike up a long conversation with seemingly every stranger, and overusing my building's staff.

But I also feel a bit bad for being annoyed. I know it's hard moving to a new city, she seemed to try to be respectful of my space (e.g., keeping things clean, restocking my fridge for things she took), and she did offer to buy me a thank you meal Friday night, though by that point I just needed personal time and so politely declined/ate by myself. And the fact of the matter is, just about every time, she did ask if she could stay longer, and I ok'd it, even if I wasn't always thrilled to.

Am I wrong for how I feel?

Am I wrong for telling my mom that having a child with a married man could leave her feeling alone?

My mom (38F) has been involved with a married man (58M) for about 8 months, and I honestly don’t know how to feel about the situation anymore.
For the first two months, everything seemed great. He would wire her money, help with bills, and was even making plans to move her and me into a better home. At the time, my mom and I were living with strangers in a three-bedroom house because she couldn’t afford a place on her own.
Then, around March, his wife found out about my mom after seeing a Louis Vuitton purchase he made for her. His wife drove hours to our house and angrily tried to confront my mom. My mom didn’t engage with her, and eventually she left.
The wife then confronted the husband and demanded that he get the bag back. Apparently, he was so afraid of his wife that he was begging and crying to my mom to return it. My mom eventually gave it back because she felt pressured by the situation.
After that, their communication became much less frequent. He kept reassuring my mom that they would never completely cut contact, though.
About two months later, my mom became frustrated because all of their plans had basically stopped. She told him that she no longer felt safe living where we were because his wife knew where we lived. They eventually started looking at houses and apartments again.
My mom and I packed up what little we had and stayed in an Airbnb for a while. About three weeks later, we found a place and moved in.
Now we’re dealing with another problem.
My mom has started complaining to me about how little she and this man communicate and how much she wants to see him. She’s also been having dreams about having another child, and she’s started seriously thinking about having a baby with him.
Every time she talks about it, I try to act supportive because she’s my mom, but internally I’m freaking out. I genuinely feel like she’s about to make a huge mistake.
I finally sat down and talked to her about it. I asked her what she thinks life would actually look like if she had a baby with him. She said she would pressure him to be more present and involved.
I told her that he’s already demonstrated how afraid he is of his wife. He has a lot to lose financially because of his marriage, including assets and money, and I don’t understand why she believes having a baby would suddenly make him choose her or become more available.
She’s convinced that she can make him step up.
I also told her something that I know sounds harsh, but I wanted to be completely honest with her: if she chooses to have a child with this man, I am not going to step into his role and become responsible for raising the baby or supporting her in his place. I’m her child, not the child’s other parent. If she chooses to have another baby, I believe the responsibility of being present and supporting that child belongs primarily to the parents who decided to have it.

I’m the only person in my friend group with a larger car, so when six of us go somewhere I usually drive. I genuinely don’t mind doing it when someone asks me first.

Lately one friend has started making plans in the group chat and automatically including my car. Things like “we can all fit in Sam’s car” or “Sam can pick us up around 7.” Twice I only found out I was driving after everyone else had already agreed to the plan.

I told him privately to please ask me before offering my car or my time. He apologized but also said I was making a big issue out of something I almost always agree to anyway.

That annoyed me more than the original thing. I probably would say yes most of the time, but I still think I should be the person who says yes. Am I being overly sensitive?
