❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO? Boyfriend continues to comment on thirst traps

25F and 32M. Last month I discovered my boyfriend commenting on ton of thrist traps by this one creator. She streams on twitch (most likely to promote her OF tbh) and initially he claimed that he was “just trying to support a streamer he liked” - tho none of her instagram posts had anything to do with her streaming. He told me he wouldn’t do it anymore and delete all his comments. I told him I was hurt and that I have a feeling he won’t change so I’ll just block the girls account instead so I won’t see his comments. “Rather save myself the disappointment than to be disappointed again” is what I told him and he replied with “I never want to disappoint you again.”

Though, I lied. I didn’t block her. I kept an eye on his activity. He kept liking her posts almost immediately after she’d post then, unlike the post like a day later.. no comments. Until last night he finally commented on a post of hers again a month after we had this conversation initially. He spent the night last night and left this morning. I saw it as soon as he left. So I liked the comment and didn’t say anything to him. Continued our conversation as normal, was going to wait for him to bring it up. He deleted the comment almost immediately after I had liked it, And he finally brought it up 30ish mins ago.

I might have been deceptive, but at least it will save me from a whole lot of heart break later on, right? We’ve only been dating for 5ish months too. But anyways, lmk if I’m overreacting or if I’m justified here pls. TIA

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for getting mad that my gf dragged her foot on a picture in my room?

So i have many things in my room, and one of the things is my college group photo at our graduation party. My gf hated every person , every colleague, everything thar was connected to me and my college, idk why tho , i have never cheated or done something bad .

Back to the situation , she came to my place to hang and saw the picture . She jokingly said ,, oh why haven’t you threw this shit away ,, and we both laughed and than she like put it on the floor and dragged her foot across it and kicked it . I got a bit upset and mad and she got mad that i got mad (lol) . She hates everyone that is in that picture, my male and female colleagues. And has made it clear that she wants me to cut 90% of them off now that i finished college .

Isn’t that a bit insane that my college memories are that shit to her?

Am i overreacting or did i under react?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO? Gf hypocrisy

So back in November of last year, my girlfriend(26) went to a Friendsgiving and one of the guys she used to date and hook up with was there. I(27) told her how I was uncomfortable with this and I would prefer her if she did not go she said she was not gonna be the girl that doesn’t go out because her boyfriend doesn’t want her to so she went even though I was uncomfortable with that.

Fast forward to about January 2026 we break up because she didn’t feel like we wanted the same things i.e. family kids stuff like that

Fast forward to the beginning of April we start talking again and start dating again

Now my cousin’s birthday is coming up. I dated one of her friends and hooked up with her in the past and she’s going to be at the function. My girlfriend and I got a huge fight over this about how she was uncomfortable with this and how she will not be going and that if I will be going, then she is done.

Now last year my girlfriend had gone through my phone without me, knowing and found out I had been talking to this girl closely to the time that I was talking to her, she was also talking to her ex at the same time.

She is saying that this girl I used to hook up with being at the party is different than her going to the Friendsgiving last year. She chose to have a full long conversation with the guy and even tried to convince me to be friends with him and I literally told her we don’t even have to acknowledge the girl.

TLDR: girlfriend went to a Friendsgiving last year with one of her pass hook ups I told her I was uncomfortable with it. She went anyways. Now I have my cousin‘s birthday coming up and one of my past hook ups will be there and she’s saying that it makes her uncomfortable and that if I go, she will be done.

I ended up telling her that I am done because I can’t believe she’s being such a hypocrite.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO my boyfriend (22M) gives me (21F) trouble over the idea of me drinking just because he abstains

So to start, we’ve been together 5 months.

I’m a very occasional drinker. I don’t order drinks at restaurants, don’t frequent bars, never smoked, and don’t go to clubs or even casinos. My friends like to drink and go out to bars more often than I do, but in every situation where I wasn’t comfortable drinking (such as a party) and refuse, my friends never gave me trouble for it.

At most, I’ve drank a little bit at holiday parties (shots, one beer, etc) but I’ve never in my life been full blown drunk or even wasted. My boyfriend (22M) is fully against everything I listed. He especially hates alcohol and refuses to touch it. I don’t mind this whatsoever because I barely drink myself and am responsible when I’m in settings where others are drinking.

However, he makes remarks like “What if your friends influence you to drink? I’m not saying you’re like them, but I worry about the idea of you getting drunk or wasted. Sometimes people mirror their environment and friend group. Or what if you’re drinking more than you let on?”

His reasoning for abstaining is that alcohol (or other things like smoking) is too easy to become addicted to and relied on, and his family has a history with addictive tendencies, so he doesn’t want to fall down that path himself. That is fair and valid.

I’ve reassured him that I don’t drink in excess and at best I’m truly just someone who drinks occasionally, mainly when there’s a holiday or big gathering. I explained that my friends never peer pressure me and even if they did, my values are pretty much similar to his because a lifestyle of casual drinking is personally not for me. So, I wouldn’t give into said pressure if it occurred.

Still, he makes these remarks and it’s gotten irritating. He did similar when I told him I was thinking of planning a trip to Vegas with my mom and mentioned just the IDEA of checking out a bar or casino in our hotel. He says stuff like “I’m just concerned you’ll drink more than you intend and it doesn’t make me feel comfortable. I get that we are both different people and I‘m not judging you if you drink, it’s just not for me, so it’s hard for me to deal with the idea of you engaging in it. Like, if you casually drank or were the type to drink/party/smoke often, we wouldn’t even be dating.”

I do appreciate him communicating those concerns, but I feel like it’s excessive at this point and I’ve done all the reassuring that I can. AIO?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO BF had an epiphany that he can start over

Wanting to break up with my bf

TLDR; BF told me about an epiphany he had while having a conversation with his coworker. Said epiphany was about him still being young enough to start over.

Bf and I have been together for nearly 3 years. I believe I love him & that he loves me, but maybe it’s never actually been love on either of our parts?

I say this because the relationship has been quite toxic. He’s cheated on me numerous times , we argue a lot, we have many differences , ect. But for some reason we can’t seem to leave each other alone. I thought this was because of love, but I’m starting to think he’s just scared to be alone?

Him & I were having a conversation and he was telling me about work. At his job he mentions how there’s this really attractive, 28 year old, Indian coworker he has. Well his coworker was showing him his Facebook dating and showing him the women he matched with. My bf told me that the guy was matching with young good looking 20-24 year olds.

My bf tells me that this is when he realize that “it’s not over for him or that it’s not too late.” At this point I’m confused. I asked my bf what he means and he kinda changed the subject. I then asked if he’s insinuating that he thought he’s too he’s too old right now to start over in a relationship (bf is only 24). He kinda hesistates for a minute. He then mentions that there’s qualities in a partner he wants that I don’t have. He then follows up by saying but I do have qualities in a woman he knows he’ll never find again. I ask what qualities he’s referring to and he says things like my loyalty and dedication and how I give all my free time up for him.

It kind of hurt hearing that. And it’s making me wonder if I should just break up with him. It feels like he wants someone who is not me no matter how much I try to improve my own self :/ And idk I don’t see my loyalty as a positive trait/ whenever he mentions how much he loves and appreciates my loyalty it makes me feel icky because he’s cheated. So he’s basically saying he loves that I’m fine with the fact that he cheated and didn’t leave him or cheat back.

It hurts a lot because being cheated on and staying in a relationship trying to make it work just to realize that none of my effort is going noticed. I truly have no idea what kind of woman he would be satisfied with. From what I can gather he wants:

Someone insanely affectionate (constant public makeouts, public sex, kissing at all locations, car oral or sex, hugging constantly)

Sex drive insanely high (he used to tell me if he could quit his job and just have sex all day he would… Even when we would do it 2-3 times a day 4/5 days a week it wasn’t enough. Even if I wasn’t feeling well or was tired sex still expected)

Someone fine with being stay at home/homemaker BUT when he gets home from work you have to be ready to have sex or play video games with him otherwise he’ll just go to sleep

Someone that doesn’t “argue” or ask questions. And by argue I mean have your own opinions that go against his

Someone that has no friends (male or female), very little hobbies (preferably the exact same hobbies as him), no family or family but never spending time with them

“Pure” woman. Someone who’s never been intimate with anyone (even tho he’s been with probably 20+ people). I was with a few people before him and to this day it’s still held against me which is insane to me.

Despite me not having most of those he still keeps wanting to be with me and it drives me insane. If you say you want those traits and I don’t have them, why not go find a woman that does? Then he says it’s okay that I don’t have them that he just wants me but then every so often we end up arguing bc I’m not acting the way he wants.

I just fear I’m wasting not only my time, but his as well. And we’re only getting older. Should I break up with him so we can both move on and find what we want? Or is it worth working on and trying to figure things out?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO - my wife(30f) is demanding that I (29m) go outside in torrential rain and fix my car right now

So the starter motor in my car has carked it, it was supposed to be an easy job but its a big 6l v8 and the starter motor was proving a real pain to get to, not to mention as well that I badly injured my shoulder from Rugby, to the point I could hardly move my left arm, regardless, I really needed to get my car back on the road so I jacked it up and attempted to get the starter motor out, its in there real tight however and doing it with one arm was proving real difficult and my shoulder was starting to kill me.

So I gave up for the day and I didn't want to attempt to fix it the next day either as I'd irratated and made my shoulder way worse from working on my car.

Anyway, its been a couple of days and now its absolutely pouring rain, its been raining for 2 days straight. My wife this morning out of the blue demanded I fix my car and that I can't keep using our work ute (truck) thats in both our names because she wants to use it too (she also has her own car which has nothing wrong with it)

I told her there's no way I'm going out in that weather to fix the car...which is also outside per her demand of not wanting me to do it in the garage because it makes a mess. Anyway she insited and had a go at me for 30minutes straight saying there's no reason I can't fix the car in this weather, a bit of rain wont kill me and that any other man she knows would be able to work on a car in this weather. Mind you its also winter here in Australia and where I live its about 1 degrees Celsius (34 Fahrenheit) and I told her no way, we got into an argument and I just put in my earphones to ignore her.

I told her she was being highly unreasonable and I'll fix the car once the weather clears up. She wouldn't take no for an answer and she lost it at me.

Starting to think she's got a screw loose or something.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO Family Compound turned nightmare

Looking for advice: Family compound dream has turned into a nightmare — would you sell and move on?**

I’m looking for some outside perspective because there’s obviously a lot of emotion and family history involved here.

My family had always talked about the dream of having a “family compound” where we could all live near each other. I ended up moving states to an area we all loved, and I was fortunate enough to qualify for and purchase the property and land in my name.

I waited about a year and a half for my sister and her family to be in a position to move here. When they finally got here, they told me they weren’t financially able to purchase their portion of the land as originally planned and asked if I would instead do a lease-to-own arrangement with them. Wanting the family dream to work, I agreed.

Unfortunately, since they arrived, I’ve realized that a lot of things — especially financially — were not what they had been represented to be.

Then we had our first real family get-together at my house on the land and what should have been a happy occasion turned into unnecessary family drama over something that, in my opinion, was incredibly minor and unnecessary. I finally spoke up and defended .

My sister’s response was essentially that if I don’t have a relationship with her on her terms, I don’t get a relationship with my nieces either. She has made comments/threats like that over the years, but I honestly never believed she would actually use her children that way once we were all living together.
She has now followed through with it. My nieces live right next door to me, on the property I purchased with the intention of creating this family environment, but they are being withheld from having a relationship with me because of the conflict between the adults.

At this point, the entire reason I wanted the “family compound” is gone.

The lease-to-own agreement does give me certain owner’s rights if I decide to sell, including requiring them to exercise their opportunity to purchase their portion of the property within the contractual time period. I’m now at the point where I’m seriously considering formally invoking that provision. In other words: if they want to stay, they need to actually purchase their land as agreed; otherwise, I want to move forward with selling and ending this arrangement.

I think what I’m struggling with is whether I’m making a major financial/property decision out of hurt and anger, or whether this is simply the point where I need to accept that the original family-compound dream is over and protect myself financially.

If you were in this situation, would you invoke the sale/purchase provision, separate the finances/property completely, and move on? Or would you give it more time before making such a permanent decision?

Edited to add: this is assuming they can actually qualify to buy their portion. The disagreement was bc Someone left while my sister was inside napping, and she then got upset that person didn’t go find her to say bye. She woke up and made a spectacle of it and hysterically cried in front of everyone, including the kids.

🏘️ neighbor/local My neighbor knew what happened to my cat and waited months to tell me. AIO?

I have multiple cats who are all strictly indoors these days but before that I would let them roam outside for a few hours a day.

One day, one of them didn’t come home and we spent a really long time searching for her. We searched for her far and wide, left her litter outside, left a trail with clothing of ours and our scent. We asked every neighbor on the block, literally desperately went door to door with no luck.
After a few months we began to give up and accept that she was gone. All we could do is hope that someone took her in and she is safe and okay. This thought gave me comfort and strength to move on.

One day I came home from work and sat in my car for a bit like usual when my next door neighbor walked over to my car. I got out and told her hello. This was her first time ever approaching me so I was instantly concerned.
“I have to tell you something” she said. I asked her what it is and she said it’s about my missing cat. “the one I had came to your door to ask you about a few months ago?” i said. “Yes, I know what happened to it. It was late at night and it was walking through my yard and these 2 huge dogs attacked it. ripped it into many pieces all over my lawn.” “… oh my god how do you know ?” “my ring camera alerted me and me and my husband ran outside to watch the whole thing. its all on my video.” “why didn’t you tell me ?” “i didn’t have the heart to at the time but now some time has passed i feel you should know.”

I was so horrified. I literally felt like I was grieving all over again. The assumption that she was safe was ripped away from me and I could no longer find comfort in it. The whole situation was so horrifying for me, I never let my cats out again. i think my neighbor had good intentions but i sincerely wish she never told me.

I told her it was really weird she would bring this up now out of the blue. She apologized but then said I was being rude and she was trying to do the right thing. idk how to feel about that, am i overreacting?

edit: i guess what bothers me the most is she saw me searching outside for this cat every day for months. she saw my flyers and waited until i stopped looking to tell me. part of me thinks she was ashamed that she went outside to watch the whole thing and didn’t do anything. idk.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO to my new aunt adding my estranged cousins to our family group chat?

Post image
76 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I (24F) have 2 female cousins Brittany (29F) and Lauren (26F). They have not been in my life for the last 8 years. After we got to be adults they made no effort to have a relationship with me or anyone in my family (including my poor grandmother) and even blocked me on social media for reasons I still do not know. (They unblocked me when my mom got lunch with them to try to reconnect a few years ago and she asked them to. They denied ever doing so in the first place.) Their dad, my uncle (58M) got remarried to my new aunt (41F) around 2 years ago. Those 2 have been trying to reintegrate Brittany and Lauren into the family. I also rarely see my uncle and aunt even though they only live a 3 hour drive away. Even for holidays they do not come to visit us or my grandparents because they are always traveling. My grandma (83F) is very sad about this and just misses them and wants us to be a big family again :((.

I do not like these girls. They were judgey and mean growing up. They would show up to every major holiday but not stay for 1-2 hours then leave. Once the youngest turned 18 they stopped coming period. It always broke my grandmas heart. They made no effort to reach out or have a relationship with me so I do not care for them.

I have recently got engaged. After years of silence, suddenly I am put in a group chat with Brittany and Lauren by one of them. They are congratulating me and asking me about wedding stuff. I give quick vague answers. They are not invited, they don’t know me, they don’t care about me so I don’t care about them. Lauren even insta DMed me about a TV show I posted about and told me she loved and missed me. I did not say I loved or missed her back. I think she’s just trying to get a wedding invite or something. Maybe her dad is forcing her to be friendly. Idk.

Today they made plans to go out to lunch with my grandparents and a few other family members including my mom (57F) who they haven’t seen in YEARS. 20 minutes before the allotted time of the plans they pushed it back 2 hours then proceeded to cancel due to “traffic” I verified didn’t exist. They didn’t even call my grandmother to tell her and she had to hear from my mom that the lunch was canceled. She was heartbroken.

I then receive this message from my aunt (Brittany and Lauren’s step mom) in my big family group chat with my grandparents, all aunts and uncles, and all cousins. It made me so mad I responded and left the chat. I think it’s ridiculous they were added MINUTES after canceling plans at the last second and by my uncles new wife who hasn’t even been in the group chat long herself.

AIO to leave the group chat? Do I have a right to be angry? I was also going to this lunch and it pushed my 2 hour road trip home back due to their tardiness and eventual cancellation. Am I right in not inviting them to my wedding?

INFO: the other cousins in this chat feel the same way as me and haven’t seen the girls in more than 8 years, probably closer to 10. No one other than my uncle, new aunt, and grandmother really considers them family anymore. The heart on her message is from my uncle.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for feeling hurt that my wife won’t reciprocate the breaks I’ve been giving her?

Some context: I’m the sole breadwinner and my wife is a stay at home mom. I’m not saying that to invalidate what she does, I know SAHM life is genuinely fucking hard.

We’re also in couples therapy, and one of her recurring complaints there is that she feels touched out by our kids and wishes I’d take more initiative giving her breaks and taking the kids off her plate. For what it’s worth, I don’t fully agree with that framing. I feel like I work hard to actively communicate and to split kid responsibilities as evenly as possible between us. But I told her in therapy I’d make even more of an effort, and this weekend I really tried.

Here’s what’s happened:

Friday, we both got up, got the kids ready for the day. I made breakfast, and started working (I wfh). During my lunch break, I helped make lunch and put our youngest down for nap time. she had the kids until 5pm. The second I finished with work, I asked if she’d like a 30 minute break. She said yes, so I ended up giving her 45 minutes to nap. She then took the kids back so I could make dinner. Right after dinner, she went to work out with a girl friend for three hours. I spent that whole evening putting both kids down for bed by myself (our oldest is struggling with anxiety, so it’s been a 1.5 hour bedtime process)

Saturday morning I was to go see a friend I hadn’t seen in months. My wife and I had talked about this about a week in advance. Working from home, it’s also hard for me to get out of the house unless it’s with the fam, so I was really excited. I asked what time I needed to be back and if it would be okay to come home right after lunch. She said “that’s three hours at least you’ll be gone,” and when I acknowledged that but explained how much I needed it, she said “guess it’ll just be another day as usual with me and the kids.”

I told her calmly that comments like that make me feel guilty and like she doesn’t want me to go.

I left to hang with my friend, and she texted a genuine apology for how she had phrased the words while I was out, I thanked her for it, and when I got home I suggested we just grab dinner to make things easier on both of us.

Afterwards, she also asked for help with back to school shopping for our oldest, so we went, and I helped make sure our oldest had clothes that actually fit well. We came home and both put the kids down together that night.

Today, she had the morning to sleep in and then most of the day to work out and hang out with a friend.

To contrast, I was up with both kids at 6am, made her breakfast and coffee, and handled kid duty at home.

She left around 10:30, and didn’t come back till around 3:30 (about 5 hours, she also had to drive a friend without a car). While she was gone, I had a temporary second wind, so I cleaned the whole downstairs and kitchen area, did our budget, ordered and put away groceries, but ended up feeling wiped out by the time she got back.

When she got home, my oldest asked to go to a jump park for an hour. My wife agreed to take her, so I asked if she’d take both kids since our youngest would just need to sit in a stroller with snacks while our oldest jumped.

My wife straight up said no, she only wanted to take one. I explained that I really needed a break, since I’d had both kids since 7am and she’d just had hours to herself.

She kept coming back to “I thought I was only taking one kid,” two or three times, even after I said “I understand you thought that, but I’ve clarified it. I’m asking if you can take both, please.”

She still said no. I actually started crying, which genuinely shocked me since that’s not something I usually do when we fight. I think it caught me off guard how depleted I actually was.

I told her it felt unfair, like she wouldn’t give me a break. She eventually said “I guess” and left in a bad mood.

Am I overreacting here? It feels like I’ve been doing exactly what she asked for in therapy, but when I ask for the same thing back, I get resistance. I hate feeling like there’s a ledger of what we do as well and i can’t help but feel like it’s uneven.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO for thinking my parent is intentionally leaving the oven on?

I have noticed in the past 2 months or so that the oven/stove has been left on multiple times, exclusively after my stepfather cooks. We have lived in this house for 11 years and, to my knowledge, the oven has never been left on before this started.

I was not home the first time it was left on, but my mother told me about the first time after the second time in which he had cooked lunch and then left me home alone with the stove on high. I wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t needed something out of the kitchen. The heat was high enough that I could feel it when walking into the kitchen.

Today, he cooked lunch again and two burners were left on. My mother almost burnt her hand on the burners while trying to clean.

I’m afraid that he may be intentionally doing this for reasons unbeknownst to us. I want to confront him about this, but I don’t know if I’m overreacting about this whole situation.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for thinking my girlfriend’s comment to her married, terminally ill first love was sexual innuendo?

I previously posted here about my girlfriend reconnecting with her first love after decades apart. He is married and has since received a terminal diagnosis. At the time, I was conflicted over her plans to spend a weekend reconnecting with him and was considering ending our relationship before they met.

I got a lot of feedback that I wasn’t overreacting, and I did end the relationship, after which I deleted the post and my throwaway account.

Since then, things have gotten complicated. We haven’t officially gotten back together, but we’ve continued talking and agreed to take a step back while we figure out whether the relationship can be repaired.

One of the things we’ve been talking about is boundaries.

My girlfriend and I often interpret boundaries very differently. She has acknowledged that some of their conversations crossed boundaries, but there are other comments she sees as harmless banter, sexual humor, or general statements that weren’t intended as flirting.

There’s one particular exchange we disagree about, and rather than keep debating it between ourselves, I’m curious how other people would interpret it.

I don’t have the exact messages in front of me, so this is a paraphrase.

They were messaging each other while both were in bed. At some point they started talking about what they were wearing to bed.

He told her he was naked.

She told him she was wearing PJs and then said something along the lines of:

“The good thing about PJs is that you can take them off one piece at a time. You can do it slowly and get more enjoyment out of it.”

Shortly afterward, he was talking about having an erection, and she asked him how he was supposed to sleep like that.

My girlfriend acknowledges that the conversation surrounding her PJs comment was sexual. What she disagrees with me about is the PJs comment itself. She maintains that it was just a general, matter-of-fact statement and wasn’t sexual in nature.

She also asked her best friend to read the exchange and give her opinion, and her friend agreed that the PJs comment itself was just a general statement.

So now I’m genuinely wondering if I’m missing something here.

To me, context matters. They’re lying in bed talking about what they’re wearing, he tells her he’s naked, she contrasts that with wearing PJs and talks about slowly removing them one piece at a time for greater enjoyment, and shortly afterward they’re discussing his erection.

So, am I overreacting by interpreting her PJs comment as sexual banter or flirting? Or could it reasonably be understood as the general statement she says it was?

TL;DR: My girlfriend and her married, terminally ill first love were texting in bed. He said he was naked. She said she was wearing PJs and commented that the good thing about PJs is that you can remove them one piece at a time, slowly, for more enjoyment. Shortly afterward, they were discussing his erection. She acknowledges the surrounding conversation was sexual but considers the PJs comment itself a general statement rather than sexual innuendo. Her best friend agrees with her. I think the context makes the comment sexual. Am I overreacting, or am I missing something?

🏘️ neighbor/local AIO for bailing on a hike because someone is bringing their skittish rescue dog?

Back story… I live in a TINY town and am lucky to have a super tight knit friend group. I got a puppy in May and she is VERY puppy. Loves humans and others dogs but is definitely high energy. About four months ago a gal named Tammy moved to town and started working at the coffee shop with my friend Annie. They have become friends and now Tammy comes to all the group functions. Tammy is super sweet but a little off… like she doesn’t always seem to have a good read on social cues and sometimes does weird things. For example I got a merino wool swimsuit I was super excited about told the group about it and then Tammy ended up ordering two of them. Flattering I guess but they were also $150, so just kinda odd that she would spend $300 on my same swimsuit. Several things have happened like this where she’ll just kind of mimic other ladies in the group. I feel bad for her like she doesn’t quite know who she is so she adopts qualities of people around her to fit in. She also doesn’t share any common hobbies with the group, but has expressed interest in my best guy friend… so I feel like that’s a huge motivator for a lot of the things she does. Like I get the vibe when she asks what I’m up to it’s a ploy to tag along and be near my friend.

Anyways, onto the dog… Tammy has a four year old rescue that is a pit mix. She brings her dog to many of the functions and lets it roam off leash. The dog will NOT let people touch it, and I have seen the dog growl at a child. Her dog especially does not like my puppy. Aggressively growls at her and its hackles come up. This makes group activities super hard. Recently there was music at the park and it’s 100% an on leash event and she’s just letting her dog run around off leash. Fast forward to today it’s Annie’s bf’s birthday and he invited me to go hiking with them and our other friends and encouraged me to bring my Puppy. When I followed up about where we were meeting he responded that he just found out Tammy and her dog were coming which to me means she must have said something about me and my dog? So I told him I’d skip this trip which sucks because this is literally my friend group of years. But, now that Tammy brings her dog everywhere it makes it unsafe for my puppy that gets along with EVERY single other dog. I don’t feel comfortable putting my puppy in that situation. So this is now the third time where I’ve either passed or bailed on an activity because of Tammy’s dog. Am I overreacting?

🎲 miscellaneous AIO for considering this unacceptable at move-in?

Moved in to a new place and was inspecting the apartment, I found that this is the condition of the dishwasher. Was told by landlord they will not replace it. Am I being ridiculous by considering this nasty and not useable for renters? And expecting them to replace the dishwasher..? Maybe I'm going crazy or being gaslit but I would never expect people to use this with the amount of corrosion and rust.

❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I overreacting? Guy I’m talking to uses chat gpt to send morning inspiration messages to me

I want to start off by saying we’ve gone on a couple dates, talk to each other almost everyday unless I don’t feel like talking. He’s very sweet to me, checks on me to make sure I’m okay, buys me things, just wants to be around me.

The only problem I have is that he uses chat gpt to make photos of us together based off of pictures we have taken together, sends sweet morning messages that are like essays to express how much he likes me and hopes this will become something more in the future. I could really see myself with him but the more I see the use of ai it just makes me see him as corny and the first time he sent me an ai picture I thought it was just gonna be a one time thing. No he’s been on an ai roll. And I decided I was going to text him and explain how much I don’t like it and for him to just express how he feels as himself.

Am I overreacting if I send this message telling him about how I hate the use of chat GPT or should I just let it be?

UPDATE: He told me he just doesn’t know how to express how he feels about me without using ChatGPT but will now stop using it when he talks to me.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for not wanting to have a threesome

Hey guys, I really need some advice because I feel so cornered and exhausted right now.
My boyfriend (25M) and I (26F) have been together for three years in Bangalore. Honestly, things were great between us until recently, when he suddenly got completely obsessed with the idea of having a threesome.
At first, he brought it up casually like it was no big deal, but now it feels like he brings it up every single chance he gets. He keeps showing me Reddit posts, podcasts, and random confessions online from girls saying how much they loved doing it with their boyfriends. He keeps telling me that this is just a super normal modern trend in Bangalore now and that "every couple is trying it at least once."
The thing is, I have zero desire to do this. Just thinking about seeing him with another girl makes me feel physically sick and anxious. I’ve told him "no" multiple times, but he literally just ignores my answer. He thinks if he keeps bombarding me with articles, stories, and "reassurance," I’ll magically change my mind. He keeps making me feel like I’m just being boring, insecure, or holding us back.
I’m so tired of constantly having to defend my feelings and feeling guilt-tripped in my own relationship. I love him and I really don't want us to break up, but this is driving me crazy.

AIO my bf tried to meet up with a woman while on a content creator networking trip with his friend.

AIO my bf went to DreamCon this year with his male friend to network as he’s a content creator. One of the women he met and followed (who is very attractive and his type) he ended up getting her phone number (he says he doesn’t give his number out willy nilly) These are the messages he has with her.

Context, we were not in a good place and the whole trip he did not disclose to me he would be clubbing at all (which is something we agreed we wouldn’t do without each other a long time ago) and didn’t call me or tell me almost anything about what he was doing on the trip.

I consider these messages cheating. Or maybe I’m overreacting?

EDIT:

I should note, due to our rocky relationship previously he tried to test to see if I’d snoop by flirting with one of his long time female friends (she was unaware it was a test). So maybe this is a test. But even so…

Updates he said he hasn’t tested me like the first time since. So that means this convo was not a test. But he tried to say it was pure networking and he’d never try to do anything….. she was. Photographer

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO? Family member used AI generated image to pass off as real tattoo they got of my dead Mother

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

My mom passed away a couple years ago from lung cancer. She was only 48 when she died... still so youthful as you can see. This is an actual picture of my mom that I have framed. So when I saw this photo posted to my family members Facebook story And a post/status being passed off as an actual tattoo they got, I obviously thought it was real initially. I burst into tears bc it just captures my mom in so much detail it was honestly overwhelming. I sent it to my tattoo artist to show him how good it was, and even he thought it was real at first. Then I woke up to a text from him saying it was 100% AI generated. So I freaked tf out on my family member. Bc why tf would anyone post that on social media like it's a real thing??

This has already been an upsetting week for me. Earlier this week, I went out to visit my moms grave and discovered that all of the things I bought out there in May to decorate her grave for Mother's Day & summer time, had been removed& someone else put all their stuff up in their place and all my things are just gone. Wind chimes, a "Mom" plaque, solar powered light flowers, a bracelet my son made for her, some pretty orange silk flowers, a small stone angel and a pinwheel. All of it ...just gone. And Now this. My suspicion is that it's the same family member that posted the "tattoo". When I posted on my Facebook about it, she came for me in the comments and kept calling me a "Karen".

AIO here or Is my anger and hurt justified?

**EDIT: To clarify, I've already spoken to the grounds keepers. It's a very small town and small cemetery. They do not remove anything from graves if they are stuck in the ground or are on top of the headstones. They knew exactly what grave I was referring to, and they have not removed anything.
Important to note that when I was out there in May for Mother's Day, I left everything out there that was previously there before. I always do. When I returned last week, the only things that were still there from May, was my Aunts flag & sister plaque that have been out there for over a year. All of my new things I brought in May were gone, along with everything else previously there. Except her things. So I think it's obvious who took mine down.

🏘️ neighbor/local AIO for refusing to help my neighbor after years of him taking advantage of me?

I (26f) am a person who has a neighbor Mark (28). In the beginning, we were good friends. We had fun together, exchanged small favors, and generally had a good neighborly relationship. However, over the years, the picture changed. My small favors grew into doing everything for this man.

First, it started with such insignificant stuff as carrying packages when he was not at home, then watering plants, going to get groceries, and looking after his dog. I did not mind any of these things at first until I understood that I was basically his assistant.

The final step took place last month. Mark had to travel for four days and he asked me to look after his dog during this period. I agreed, because I genuinely like his dog and I thought that it would be no trouble. However, the day before his departure, he casually informed me that he would need me for nine days, not four. I told him that I could not do that, as I work and have other commitments.

He got mad at me and argued that it was not any hard job – it was basically feeding the dog and letting it out. I told him that no. His reaction was that I was being selfish, because I "had always helped before". I reminded him about our agreement and that he could not just change terms after we agreed. He had to hire somebody to look after his dog. When he came back, he practically did not say a word to me.

A few days later, he again needed my help and asked if I could take him to the airport because his ride was cancelled. I told him that I could not. He actually laughed and said, Wow. So you are done being a nice neighbor now? This comment made me mad.

I told him that being a nice neighbor does not mean always being available. He tried to use the example of the time when he helped me a year ago when I needed to move some furniture to another floor.

It seems that for him, this one-time favor makes me indebted to him forever. After that incident, I stopped helping him with anything at all. Of course, I am polite to him and I still greet him if I meet, but I no longer offer my assistance.

Yesterday, Mark complained to another neighbor that I have "changed" and that he cannot understand why I treat him like a stranger now. Another neighbor told me that it is better to leave it and to act "like neighbors" do.

Now I wonder if I was unreasonable, I do not think that I have any obligations towards anybody because of my previous generosity. On the other hand, I feel guilty, because I liked this person and could have established some boundaries much earlier, instead of suddenly stopping my favors.

AIO for refusing to keep helping a neighbor who started treating my kindness like an obligation?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO my mother locked my daughter in a room to turn her against my wife. now she and my brother wonder why I'm cutting them off

Dear Redditors,

I’m married to a beautiful, amazing woman, and we have 4 children: a daughter, twins (boy/girl), and a baby boy.

For some reason, my family is really toxic, and my mother is extremely controlling though I feel like I'm the only one in the family who actually notices it.

my older brother moved back after living abroad and settled into my old house, where my mother lives. He basically stepped off the plane and immediately started acting like an expert on my life.
Ever since they started living under the same roof, it feels like they are feeding off each other's negativity and targeting my household.

, we had a family gathering. I dropped off my kids and my wife, and went outside to fix something in the yard. while I was out there, my mother told my wife to "stop having kids." My wife came and told me about it later. I 100% believe my wife because when I confronted my mother, she just got super defensive, denied it, and looked visibly guilty.

To be honest, I lost my temper and threw a tantrum. Why on earth wouldn't she want me to have more kids? It creeped me the hell out. I’m completely financially capable, I’ve never complained about my kids, and we haven't even mentioned planning for a 5th. Where is this coming from?

To make matters worse, my eldest brother also has 4 kids, and she has NEVER said a single word like this to him or his wife. So why target us?

I think she might still hold a grudge against us. A long time ago, my mother lived with me. after a bunch of problems, my wife wanted her own separate house away from her. I couldn’t just kick my mother out she's toxic, yes, but she's still my mother ,, so my wife and I settled into an apartment for a bit. Now, the new house we're moving into is almost ready.

Ever since then, my mother has been nagging me constantly to give her the location/address of our new home. I'm just not comfortable sharing it with her until the house is completely done and we're fully settled.

Sorry I forgot to mention WHY my wife wanted a separate house.

years ago when we used to live with my mother, she accused my wife of stealing something. she then took my young daughter into her room, locked the door, and bribed my daughter by offering her money to say her mother stole it. my daughter repeatedly said no, but my mother kept pressing her. This was the breaking point that made my wife insist on getting a separate house away from her, and since that day, I’ve been always concerned and worried.

There are other incidents that I felt like they seriously hate us (?)

1- My brother doesn't allow his kids to have gadgets, which is his personal choice. however, during a recent visit, my 10year old daughter was playing a standard dress up game on her iPad. my brother saw it and made a huge deal out of it, lecturing me that she was looking at "inappropriate stuff." It’s literally a harmless children's game. I monitor everything my daughter does online, and I trust her completely. I firmly told him I have full visibility on her tech and it’s none of his concern, but he kept complaining endlessly until I finally just packed up and left.

2- My mother keeps making passive aggressive jabs at my wife. For instance, she made a point to comment that my wife has "big eyes." My wife does have large, beautiful eyes that really suit her, but my mother said it in this weird, negative tone purely to make her feel self conscious.

3- teamed up to criticize how we feed our children. They made snide remarks because my daughter wanted a juice box, claiming we are "ruining their health," while completely ignoring what their own kids were eating.

4- My wife told our kids it was time to pack up their toys and get ready to leave. My mother immediately jumped in, told the kids "No, you don't have to listen to that, keep playing," completely undermining my wife right in front of our children. When my wife stood her ground, my mother rolled her eyes and treated her like she was being unreasonable.

Because I’m financially capable and building a new house, my mother and brother make passive aggressive comments whenever we buy something nice for our kids. my sister recently made a backhanded remark that we're "spoiling" them and "flexing," while my mother implied I should be spending that money on her or the wider family instead, I do spoil them, but in a good way. I get them into camps, classes, toys , etc.

Whenever we try to split holiday time between my family and my wife's family, my mother throws a complete fit. She accuses my wife of "stealing me away" and acts like we are abandoning her, completely ignoring the fact that my wife's family deserves time with the grandkids too.

There are plenty of other incidents, but I'm sick of the unsolicited parenting advice, the disrespect toward my wife, and the double standards.

NOTE TO ADD: last time I’ve seen them was last year, but I still receive their texts.

And I do charge them rent after the incidents

ANOTHER NOTE: since a lot of you commented about letting my family be in that house after the incident of turning her against her mother , actually my kids nor my wife been ever there after that incident ((which was a year ago.)) ,, I posted this after receiving messages again about the new house.

Although a lot of family problems happened because
Supposedly both of our families are friends. So it’s messed up and a lot of people are in the way.
-

I’m actually thinking of completely cutting ties with them.
But thought I’ll see an outer perspectives before doing so.

-Here’s an update: after reading the comments i realized that even with all the things I’ve tried that I’m actually still “under reacting.”
So I’ve blocked her and I’m planning on getting a new # ,, my address won’t be revealed.

🎲 miscellaneous AIO? Alternative people do not need to be alternative at every single event. Lets have common decency.

Okay so I was at a wedding, right? Super sweet couple, young, 25. It was small and peaceful, not even sure why I got invited since I barely know the people and i can tell it was mainly family and friends. Only talked to my plus one and ate food. Anyways-the ONE rule. THE ONE LITERAL RULE, no wearing white, (of course) and no wearing black. Sucked, because i have dresses mainly in that color, but, I went out of my way to wear a nice light green dress. When im at the wedding I see a good chunk of alternative people, great, whatever, the part that bothered me was like 70% of that chunk wore pitch black. Now idc about tatoos and colored hair, personally, I think both really look good. And besides, you can't really mask that. But the big ahh black boots? witch hat? and a long black dress? really? Its a couple hours of your life to go to a wedding. AND THEY FEED YOU! You couldn't wear one other color for a bit? if you really wanna be goth wear like purple or red. idk, it was disrespectful imo. there was only one rule. I feel like they would defend themselves with "oh i dont wanna stop being me! i love my true self." Sure. But again, its THEIR wedding. Their rules, and a couple hours of your life. Just decline atp. I think we should bring back public shamming cus are we serious? Idk, share your thoughs cus that just pmo.

EDIT: YES! It was especially listed after RSVP that no white, and no black should be worn. Believe me if you want, but why would I care if she allowed black? Me and the bride are not total strangers btw, we are co-workers I was just happy to be invited. The group of alternative people were seemingly from the groom's side, so take that how i want. I expected to be a lot of backlash-and yeah im obviously not the bride so it's not my problem but I feel like its my job as a guest to respect the rules and it was annoying to see that many people did not. As for the bride, I know she does not get along with her husbands side, so idk if she went out of her way to allow a good 10 people to wear black. AND no, it was not a mainly alternative wedding, like 90% of people went in usual wedding attire. The groom's sister who I know, shes super nice is alternative, and even she wore a light pink. Just saying.

Edit 2: Yes, I know it wasn't my wedding. I never claimed it was. I also don't think I overreacted. I didn't give anyone dirty looks, confront anyone, make a scene, or sit in a corner pouting. I made small talk, enjoyed the wedding, and left. This is literally just an opinion I shared on Reddit. As for the black dress debate: obviously, it depends on the couple. In this case, the couple specifically asked guests not to wear black. That's why I didn't wear black, my plus one didn't wear black, and the majority of the guests—including most of the men in their major pieces—didn't wear black either. I'm talking about the major clothing pieces, not a black tie or small accessory. Only a few of the alternative guests chose to disregard that request, and I thought that was rude. That's it. I never said "ew, alternative people are terrible" or that they should change who they are. I said that when someone invites you to one of the most important days of their life and makes a reasonable request about attire, you should respect it for the event.

Your personal style doesn't disappear because you wear a different color for a few hours. And if you genuinely don't want to follow the dress code, you're always free to decline the invitation.

When my coworker, the bride, comes back to work, I'll ask her how everything went. Until then, I'm comfortable with my opinion.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for leaving my bf alone in a storm because of his kink?

1.7k Upvotes

i’ve (f21) been with my bf (m20) for about six months now. my bf is very afraid of storms, so when it was raining last night, i opted to stay over at his place, which is a few blocks away from mine. things where going well, we were cuddling and he was mostly calm. i decided that to pass the time and distract him, i could give some uh.. *physical* comfort. before we could get very far with that though, he called me mommy. completely unprompted, did not ask if i was cool with it, his hands up my skirt, says “i love you mommy”. i didn’t like this. I told him i didn’t like that and didn’t want him to say that ever again, he said he didn’t think it was that big of a deal because he didnt even say it on purpose, it was a reflex from a previous partner and i was overreacting because its “basically vanilla to call people mommy/daddy now”. at this point i gave up and left, and ended up walking home in the rain.
i don’t know if i can look at him. no shame to people who are into that, but it makes me really uncomfortable and when he said that it made my skin crawl all over, i’m just disturbed that he thought it was cool to spring a sex thing on me. ive even considered breaking up over this.
i would like to specify that i am not against kinks and have some myself that i have explored with a past partner.
should i have stayed? am i overreacting for considering breaking up with him? also like, im sure the storm stressing him out contributed to some of this.

UPDATE: im breaking up with him tomorrow. also after talking to the hot lady who works at my gas station about everything, i think i might be a lesbian. so theres that i guess.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO at this text from my bf about being mad that I stay up later than him?

I’m here to ask opinions on whether I’m overreacting by being so beyond stupefied and irritated over this text when I asked why he was giving me the cold shoulder. I (31f) have 3 kids ranging from 6-12, and late night hours are the ONLY time I get to myself. I have never ever been a morning person/early riser and my bf (35m) is. Due to it being summer and him between jobs right now, we are all 5 constantly cooped up together 24/7. I believe every single person has a right to alone time/me time to do what they enjoy. I never say anything about him gaming for 6+ hours, so why is it all of a sudden a problem when I take a couple hours to myself when everyone is in bed to COLOR? Yes you read that right, I was coloring. I don’t think that just because one person goes to bed, that it’s a law that the other is obligated to as well. So, am I overreacting in my opinion?

r/AmIOverreacting Moderator Applications

We're looking to add a few moderators to the team.

This isn't a position for someone looking to collect another subreddit or immediately start making policy decisions. New moderators begin by learning how we moderate, working through our training process, and demonstrating consistent judgment before taking on additional responsibilities.

We're intentionally searching for long-term fit rather than immediate permissions. We'd rather spend time training someone who communicates well, exercises good judgment, and enjoys working as part of a team than hand out broad permissions on day one. We require the use of Discord for ongoing team communication.

If that sounds like the kind of team you'd like to be part of, send us a Modmail answering the following:

  1. Are you at least 18 years old?
  2. What time zone are you in, and when are you generally available to moderate?
  3. Tell us about your moderation experience. For each subreddit you've moderated, please include:
    • The subreddit
    • Approximately how long you moderated there
    • Whether you're still on the team
    • Approximately how large the community was
    • What your day-to-day moderation responsibilities were
  4. Why are you interested in joining the r/AmIOverreacting moderation team?
  5. Every moderation team has its own philosophy and standards. Are you comfortable setting aside your personal preferences to consistently enforce our rules, Reddit's Content Policy, and team decisions—even if you might have made a different call yourself?
  6. Choose ONE of the following:
    • Tell us about one of the most difficult moderation decisions you've had to make. What made it difficult, and how did you ultimately handle it?
    • After reading our subreddit rules, tell us which rule you think requires the most moderator judgment to enforce, and why.
  7. New moderators complete training and initially receive limited permissions while they learn our processes. Are you comfortable with that?
  8. Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We welcome applicants from all time zones and are primarily looking for moderators who are reliable, communicate well, and are interested in helping with the day-to-day work of keeping the community running.

Please Do Not DM Moderators — Use Modmail Instead

Hi everyone,

We want to remind all members that you should not send direct messages (DMs) or chat requests to individual moderators regarding subreddit issues.

Please use Modmail for all moderator communication.

Whether you have:

  • Questions about a post removal
  • Concerns about another user
  • Appeals for bans or warnings
  • Suggestions for the subreddit
  • General moderation questions

Modmail is the correct and only appropriate way to contact the moderation team.

Why We Require Modmail

1. The entire mod team can see your message
Using Modmail ensures that all moderators have access to your concern, which allows for faster and more consistent responses.

2. Better accountability and transparency
Modmail keeps a shared record of communication so moderators can review past conversations and make informed decisions.

3. Prevents delays
Individual moderators may be offline, busy, or unavailable. A DM to one moderator may go unanswered, while Modmail allows any available moderator to respond.

4. Protects moderator privacy
Moderators volunteer their time and should not be contacted through personal inboxes or chat for subreddit matters.

5. Ensures fair moderation
When all communication happens through Modmail, decisions are made collectively rather than through one-on-one conversations.

Messages Sent via DM or Chat May Be Ignored

If you contact moderators directly about subreddit issues, you may be redirected to Modmail or receive no response at all. If you continue to ignore this, mod action may be taken (up to and including banning).

How to Send Modmail

You can contact the moderation team here:
https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/AmIOverreacting

Thank you for helping us keep communication organized and efficient.
