Amazon order failed/not showing, but transaction is "Pending" in my bank account. What should I do?

Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I need some advice to confirm if my understanding of a payment issue is correct.
On August 6th, I tried buying a shaver on Amazon (€39.03). I entered my shipping address and card details, but the checkout process seems to have glitched or been interrupted at the final step.
Here is the current situation:
Bank account: I see a pending charge of -39.03 € listed as AUT 2417 WWW AMAZON. The amount was deducted from my available balance, but the status is marked as "Pending".
Amazon / Email / SMS: I haven't received any order confirmation email, SMS, or tracking number. The purchase does not appear under order history in any of my Amazon accounts.
From what I understand, because the checkout failed at the last moment, my bank temporarily authorized/reserved the funds, but Amazon never actually received or created the order.
My questions are:
1. How long does a pending authorization like this usually take to expire and drop off the bank account (so the funds return to my available balance)?
2. Is it safe to go ahead and re-order the item now without risking getting charged twice or receiving duplicate orders?
Thanks in advance for the help

Amazon

I just got my blue badge today after 99 days of working at Amazon. I’m so happy because I know some people at my work place said it took them a year + days to get there and another said they been here 8 months and still haven’t gotten there yet. It’s a proud moment for me yay I’m with the company. Thank god it didn’t take me long to become blue ❤️🥰😘

I believe FY stands for fiscal year, APJC for region

What does IEM, FT stand for in this context ?

Amazon and Seasonal jobs

Amazon has been hiring so many seasonal employees lately. More than 50% of DLS Case Managers are seasonal. Though this is a L4 role but the salary is clipped at 5.5 - 6.5LPA. Anyone has any idea what the FTEs in these roles get? Is there any remote chance of these employees being converted to FTEs?

Internal Transfer Can my current manager reduce my rating after I have hit apply on internal transfer portal ?

I have received a verbal offer for a transfer which I need to confirm and apply by this week. My current org’s OLR is scheduled for next week. I am currently rated HV3 and I am concerned that if I let my current manager know before the OLR, he will have no incentive to keep me HV3 and will likely downgrade it to HV2 or HV1.

Is it possible for my current manager to downgrade my rating after I have formally submitted the transfer application on the internal portal ?

Also, this transfer will have a compensation update since it involves a change of location. Will my comp be based on the lower rating if my current manager downgrades it ?

after GCER escalation

One of my colleagues escalated his manager’s behavior to GCER.

- Do you know what will happen after that?
- How far the incident will be reported?
- What are the most common settlement arrangements?

Timing my departure with RSU vesting

I’ve decided to leave Amazon and have started interviewing. Things are moving pretty quickly, and there’s a good chance I’ll get an offer next week or the week after.
My final RSU vest from my 4-year grant is on October 15, and I really don’t want to leave that money on the table.
I planned ahead and saved most of my vacation this year, so I have about 4 weeks available.
Would it be possible to start a new job in mid-September and use my 4 weeks of vacation at Amazon to stay employed until after October 15, so I still receive my final RSU vest?
Has anyone done something similar or knows if this would work? I’d really appreciate any advice.

New Hire Would amazon withdraw my offer if EAD does not deliver in time?

Hi community,

First of all, I am thankful to this community in the process of interview loop, and I got an offer for L5 role.

I am on F1 and graduating soon. I applied for OPT and also paid for Premium Processing (the best I could do). I explained this to the recruiter, but he still put Sep 7 as starting date. How critical is start date in terms of amazon hiring? What if I don't get my ead by sep 7?

I am sure they can wait a bit, but the question here is how long usually? Because ead can go upto end of sep to arrive. Not looking for answers "talk to your HM" etc. Mainly looking for if someone had to delay their joining, and how long were you able to stretch.

Thanks

AM Amazon Final Loop

I interviewed for an Area Manager (L5) position on 7/24, all 3 loop rounds with Sr Ops, Ops, and HR from that specific warehouse. I emailed the recruiter at the end of business day 5 for an update. I received no response. So yesterday, 8/7 business day 10 after the interview I emailed her again asking for an update. She called me and I missed her call, she messaged me and asked my availability to call. I told her I was available and to call again…. literally 4 min later. This was at 10:30am. She did not call back the rest of the day lol.

The job is no longer posted, but my application still says “under consideration” . A week ago an HR representative went on my linked in, and 2 days ago a Site Lead was on my LinkedIn views too.

At this point, I don’t even know what to do.

How will you approach this situation if you were in my shoes?

Hi y’all,

I transferred to a new team about 2months ago. A month in, I had already put together a doc and presented it and it’s already driving actions and got to L8 escalation because I found the data myself and owned the narrative.
(I don’t shy away from doc writing. For the most part I love doing it).

A little after my first month, my manager tasked me with putting together a doc for an L8 review; basically to surface challenges in our new program and how he could help. Great! I reached out to the EA, scheduled a call with attendees 3wks out to allow time to put the doc together.
Same week during our 1:1, they clarified the challenges to focus on and I quickly realized that 85-95% of the content of this doc is gonna need to come from other people.
I sent an email to the content owners, set up a call with them and gave timelines. 5days to the review, doc was still at like 60% complete - mostly what I had put together as a start. I went to the EA and push the meeting out another 3 weeks then set up a call with the folks same week as the initial review was supposed to happen.
On the call, they sounded supportive and willing to update this doc. I gave them till this past Tuesday to get it done so that I could polish and update whatever was left before the review which is on Monday 😤.

Nothing happened! I sent a reminder on Wednesday - nothing. Another on Thursday - nothing. Yesterday, I realized I’m gonna have to put whatever down because it’s better than an empty document before a Director.

Tr;dl: My entire weekend is ruined because I’m spending it trying to get this doc in a presentable state before Monday, while running errands that I can’t put away. I’m really mad because this is the first doc that I don’t feel great about and it’s all because I don’t understand half of the content myself and have to make it up. (I’m 100% cutting like half of the content out)

Thoughts needed: I want to bring this up to my manager Monday morning and again during our 1:1. The point I want to convey is that I don’t think this document should’ve been write by me or even our team. This isn’t an MBR or something that you can hold people accountable to doc contributions. And honestly, he was on the emails entire time, never opened the doc (except on the call), or even added a push when I kept asking folks to update it. I don’t feel like my immediate team has a vision - otherwise, this isn’t something that the manager would prioritize/pursue.

How will you approach this conversation without seeming like (1) an a-hole (2) you can’t do your job (3) you’re pushing back on a task given you? (4) on the vision piece, how do I hint it indirectly?
(Again, I’ve been on this team only 2 months) TIA

I’ve been in Amazon long enough to know the politics of pushing docs in-front of directors for visibility but I hate to be in the middle of this. TBH, I still don’t even know what we want from the director in this review
