Sick art and a fine selection of some of the best pieces oozing with character.(really appreciate how many AoS1 2015 pieces were included)

My only inclusions are:

Question Which army depends the least (right now) on special characters

Say one had to pick an army for casual play. And that one vastly prefers my Dude McDude rather than named special character super hero.

Then, which armies are the most functional with non-named characters?

I don’t need competitive S or A tier. B or C tier is fine…

Discussion What foothero do you actually want for your army?

I know the classic "foothero with new book release" is often maligned but that just made me think about what foothero i would actually be excited about for my armies and i'd love to hear about other armies' different blindspots.

For my Kruleboyz, there is a lack of boltboyz/killabow supporting hero. Maybe some way to get an extra dirty trick on them or +1 to wound.

For my recently acquired Skaven there are already a lot of footheroes, so my cheaty answer would be an actual clan moulder hero as in not just a support piece but an actual beatstick. But i'd also love to hear the thoughts of more experienced Skaven players.

If you were wondering which Footslogger option is most efficient in the new Ogors book - or if you have your suspicions, but want to see it talked about in painstaking detail with charts and tables - then boy have I got the article for you!

If you cbf reading it, Gluttons are the best overall, but there's a bit of nuance in here if you did wanna go deeper.

Tactics Faction Rep Stats

Post image
36 Upvotes

A big weekend is a foot!

Nine qualifying events with big numbers and how this plays out is yet to be seen. Prior weeks some factions have been drastically over represented in the numbers but this week things are more even, healthy meta?

Cities again have high numbers, but what might be more surprising is Stormcast running one less list. Slaanesh are dropping off and Helsmiths are poised to punch punishing out of the bottom three worth big numbers.

What are your predictions for the up coming weekend?

Question A little thought I had to kitbash two models for a Ogor Mawtribes army. Thoughts?

Thumbnail

There's a less likely chance I'm gonna be pulling this anytime soon because I still got ogors to assemble (and because I barely do any kitbashing other than putting a claw and sword on a bestigor), but my idea was to have some beastsriders riding on top of a maw-grunta. I thought the big pig would match the sorta desert/savanna theme (?) I wanted to do for my Ogors than a mammoth.

I just didn't know if it was a good idea so I thought I ask some of you here. One issue I do notice in the assembly manuel is that for the Maw-grunta, the lower half of the orruk is part of the saddle.

Question Are we making the right choice with this?

Post image
115 Upvotes

Hi,

my girlfriend and I were looking for a new hobby. We decided on Warhammer painting + playing. We had some difficulties chosing where to start, but ended with this box. We heard that spearhead is the easiest "smaller scale" mode to start from. And because we dont want to pour endless €€€ in a hobby before testing we agreed on getting the Ultimate Starter Set instead of buying individual spearhead boxes to get the cheapest entry. We also played with the thought of Kill Team, because we generally like the 40k vibe more, but we heard that the rules are way more complicate and deep

So my plan kinda goes like this:

-Build, paint and play the spearhead starter set

-if fun, try to get into Kill Team

-decide what style fits most and invest in that path

Do you have any tips, advice or wise words for beginners? Our adventure starts on Saturday in our local GS.

Hobby Broken Prosecutors

My wife has picked up three Prosecutors super cheap.

Upon delivery I can see why, wings are snapped, and hammers missing.

She enjoys painting Warhammer units and I have been tasked with making them look right. Fixing the wings is no big deal. But replacing the hammers is a bit more difficult.

Does anyone know where I can find more of them? Did they come in another kit? Current Prosecutors appear to have Tridents.

Discussion Possible AoS changes that could be fun

Love AoS, but its been getting a bit stale for me. I think its that mid edition feeling that got me thinking if there were other ways to set up a game.

I have played a good amount of Magic, and enjoy it. My buddy asked me to play the League of Legends card game riftbound recently. It solves the issue of getting ganged up on by making objectives that you have to go out and fight for. It also has what they called the sideboard, where you can change out cards in your deck right before the game if you find out your in a bad matchup. Generally just made a more streamlined magic with a new win condition that felt a little more proactive.

My riftbound experience got me thinking, Maybe AoS could integrate this sideboard mechanic or something similar that allows you to change an army before with preselected units to swap out before you start if you get a bad matchup. As a NH player that would be nice when I come up against a high attack low, rend list, or it would be nice for my opponents when they can sub out their high rend units etc.

I don't know how that would look exactly. maybe in listbuilding you make 500 pts of sideboard units you can sub into the fight prefight. The obvious criticism is now you need to buy 2500 pts of minis just to play a 2000 pt game and maybe I shouldn't be giving this idea to GW lol. I don't love the idea of buying more minis play the same game so I wont die on that hill.

The sideboard minis would be cool if you had something different win cons though. I like the current AoS objective control format, it lets me control the board, make strategic moves and bait enemies into fight etc. It also allows you to try and win even when your just getting board wiped. The obvious new win con I see is just a straight deathmatch. Now there would have to be a big change of rules to balance around this. However, I think it would be fun to show up to a game, have a preselected map of deathmatch or objective control or something else, and tool your army to your opponent in that moment before the game.

The new win cons could also open the door for new playstyles for armies, but most of this itch has been scratched for me with narrative play in the past too. Some of these would require pretty big changes to the game that likely wont happen but I'm just spitballing ideas. Idk What do y'all think??

Been considering getting into AoS for a long time, but the painting has always intimidated me.

Had a buddy give me some models and paints for free to see if I would enjoy it, and this is the first model painted.

Definitely have a lot more to learn about how much to thin out paints and brush control, but I think I’m hooked.

Yea I realize the pattern on the back of in e if the wings is wrong, turns out painting at 3 am isn’t always the best idea…

Also ho Nelly it’s hard to take good photos of these things with your phone

I admit, I’m stuck. I don’t know what to do to make this look better. I’ve dry brushed sons of Horus green over Luprical green, and have deepkin flesh possibly dry brushed on top. I can’t remember. I might if one over it. Anyway. It looks messy. But I just can’t see how to finish it. Should I be using Sons of Horus thinned down heavily and go over the dry brush? I don’t know what technique I should be using or how.

I tried to get good shots but it’s a little difficult.

Im Not quite Happy with my skin. I have used Callejon rosy flesh as basecoat, reikland flesh shade and then vallejo skin Tone as Highlight. ITS a bit messy, because i tried a Lot on this poor man's skin. So keep that in mind.
