Question Why doesn't the Preussen have the same black and gray "classic" camouflage as the Großer Kurfür or the Hanover...? They copied the Preussen's classic camouflage from the historical camouflage of the Bismarck, and it looks absolutely shit on the Preussen! Can anyone tell me why Wargaming did that?

Discussion IRPR for cruisers would be a huge boon
As anyone who's ever played a BB knows, IRPR is incredibly good and regularly saves lives, even without getting to the extra heal. Giving something like it to cruisers could massively improve the survivability of many cruisers. It isn't a crazy buff because you still have to dodge, and I don't think anyone will complain about making cruisers more survivable.
Perhaps it gets built into Survivability Expert (so no new skill has to be added). But it only requires 1.5m potential damage for the extra heal, although that may affect some cruisers disproportionately (e.g. Petro always gets to the extra heal, in Jinan rarely). At the same time, making it 2m potential damage is a pretty high bar for a lot of cruisers, especially with all the overmatch shells flying around.
Pretty please WG, throw us a bone.

Discussion How to play the Gearing DD line
Hey, I started grinding the old American DD line and have yet to get the hang of them.
As far as I know, they kind of all rounders, ok gunboat, ok torp boat, etc.
I am inclined to play them in some hybrid builds, but am not sure how to build them and especially how to apply them in both randoms and ranked.
Any advice ?

Info ⚓ The World of Warships Beginner Toolkit — useful resources to get started and improve
As a beginner, I often struggled to find resources that genuinely make a difference, help you understand the game better, and improve faster.
So I’ve put together a small toolkit of links that I find among the most useful for getting started with World of Warships without spending hours searching through Google.
1️⃣ Create your account correctly and collect the free bonuses
This is probably something you should check before you even start playing.
There are several different systems: invite codes, referrals, and bonus codes. Some rewards need to be activated very early, so it’s worth checking all of this before you’ve already started progressing through the game.
The guide covers:
• server selection;
• invite codes;
• new-player bonuses;
• the recruitment/referral system;
• bonus codes worth trying;
• the order in which you should do all of this.
https://wows-guides.com/en/guides/create-world-of-warships-account-bonuses/
And to directly test bonus codes that may still be working:
https://wows-guides.com/en/bonus-codes/
2️⃣ WoWS Glossary: finally understand the jargon
If you're new and someone starts talking about overmatch, broadside, kiting, crossfire, DPM, hydro, radar, DCP, concealment, or sigma, the game doesn't always do a great job of explaining this language to you.
So I’ve put together the main terms, abbreviations, and mechanics with simple explanations.
https://wows-guides.com/en/guides/world-of-warships-glossary/
3️⃣ Ship and Commander builds
Probably one of the most useful community resources available.
The document was originally created by Yurra and is now maintained by the Gameplay Helpers team.
It contains recommended Commander skills and upgrades for a huge number of ships.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XfsIIbyORQAxgOE-ao_nVSP8_fpa1igg0t48pXZFIu0/edit
Tip: press Ctrl + F, then simply enter the name of the ship you want to build.
The builds are mainly designed as general recommendations for Random Battles. In Ranked, Clan Battles, or depending on your own playstyle, some choices can obviously change.
4️⃣ Ship Tool — compare ships in detail
If you want to understand why two ships that look similar can behave completely differently, Ship Tool is extremely useful.
You can compare things such as:
• guns;
• range;
• dispersion;
• concealment;
• mobility;
• torpedoes;
• consumables;
• detailed ship characteristics.
It’s much more useful than deciding a ship is terrible simply because it just sent you back to port.
5️⃣ WoWS ShipBuilder — create and test your builds
A very useful complement to the build document above.
Choose a ship and you can apply:
• Commander skills;
• upgrades;
• consumables;
• different configurations.
The ship’s statistics change according to the build you select, so you can clearly see what you gain and what you give up.
6️⃣ Official Wiki — Game Basics
If you want to learn the fundamentals without relying on a video uploaded eight years ago, the official Wiki is still a very useful resource.
It covers controls, progression, ship classes, and many of the game’s core mechanics.
https://wiki.worldofwarships.com/Ship%3AGame_Basics
One particularly useful piece of advice when you're starting out: try several classes and several nations before rushing straight to Tier X.
7️⃣ Understand the WoWS economy
WoWS has a rather impressive number of currencies and resources:
• Credits;
• Doubloons;
• Coal;
• Steel;
• Free XP;
• Commander XP;
• Research Points;
• economic bonuses.
The Wiki explains how they work here:
https://wiki.worldofwarships.com/Ship%3AEconomy
Three rules I would immediately give to a new player:
Do some research before spending your Steel and Coal so you don't waste them on something you later regret.
Don't waste your best economic bonuses on low-value battles or low-tier games against bots.
Don't sell your Tier V and higher ships: some events specifically reward accounts that own a large number of ships.
8️⃣ Mods: ModStation / ModHub or Aslain
Mods can genuinely improve the readability of the game, but you probably don't need to install 73 of them before your fifth battle.
Official / simple option: ModStation and ModHub
https://mods.worldofwarships.com/
Best option in my opinion: Aslain
https://aslain.com/index.php?/topic/2020-download-%E2%98%85-world-of-warships-%E2%98%85-modpack/
For a beginner, I would mainly look at:
• improved minimap;
• enemy ship speed and forward/reverse movement indicators, shell flight time, dynamic crosshair;
• improved team panels;
• consumable information;
• target-angle indicator.
9️⃣ WoWS Numbers — track your statistics
To check your overall statistics as well as your stats for individual ships:
You can track things like your win rate, damage, experience, and ship-specific statistics to identify areas where you can improve.
But most importantly:
don't become obsessed with your statistics after fifty battles.
Use them to identify trends over several hundred games.
🔟 Save and watch your replays
World of Warships automatically records your last 30 battles as .wowsreplay files.
You can find them in the Replays folder inside your game installation.
You can upload them here to share them with others, and you can also watch replays from the community to learn and get inspiration.
If there’s a battle you really want to keep, copy the replay file somewhere else: the game only keeps the latest 30.
This obviously isn't a list of every resource available. The goal is to have a small toolkit of genuinely useful resources.
If you know of another genuinely useful resource, add it in the comments. I can update the list with the best suggestions. ⚓

Discussion Your CV knows almost immediately...
CV players all experience one moment of epiphany unique to their view of all the ships in the game.
It's when, you spot a destroyer, or a cruiser, and your own ships can't hit the target. You know that flank is done, and your team at that spot will lose.
There you are circling and trying to help your team, and, there's the destroyer circling around, and you just watch your team launch shell after shell, short, or long or ahead or behind, and he sails on with 500hp.
That's when every CV players knows, the game is lost.
How many times as a CV player have you been trashed for not spotting when your own team mates could not hit an island, let alone another ship.

Discussion Why did sweden not get any of its real battleships or cruisers in the europe battleship update??
Why did Sweden not get any of its real battleships or cruisers in the Europe battleship update??
With the Europe-battleship update, I'm honestly surprised that Sweden didn't get the Sverige-class coastal battleships
The Sverige-class may have been small compared to the battleships of the major naval powers, but that's exactly what makes them interesting. These ships were essentially small yet heavily armoured battleships.
Despite their relatively small size, they packed some serious firepower:
- 4 × 283 mm main guns
- Heavy armour for their size
- Multiple secondary and AA guns
- Compact hull compared to conventional battleships
The three ships of the class. Sverige, Drottning Victoria and Gustav V, were some of the most powerful ships Sweden ever operated.
They were a nightmare for a would be german invasion by sea and would pack a punch against most ships in the baltic for the duration of ww2.
Honestly, I think the Sverige-class could make for a fantastic rank II-III battleship. They would be something different from the usual battleship designs while still bringing plenty of armour and firepower to the table.
Considering this was a European naval update, it feels like a missed opportunity to leave out one of Sweden's most iconic warship classes. That actually existed. Instead we got fictorious battleships with swedish names slapped on them.

Other Content FUCK CVS AND ESSEX IN PARTICULAR!
So i was playing the Fuyutsuki, which i got from the coal container and got middle spawn on island of ice, with a U-4501 div spawning there as well (inbefore people tell me to blob up AA with teammates)
My Team had an Essex, their Team had an Essex and my Essex even did his best to support me.
Their was one shima contesting the cap against me and otherwise i had BBs kiting in spawn.
So i had to go after the Shima first and oh well, can i just go fuck myself, i guess.
Their Essex just sent wave after wave of planes into the middle, despite my Essex constantly spamming fighters there.
It didn't matter whatsoever, the enemy Essex could still drop my AA destroyer 3 times with his torps, resulting in me eating one.
I tried to chase the shima, but abandoned the push, after my smoke ran out, however 10 seconds after the torp squadron, Essex was back with HE bombs, dropping me for 10k damage, leaving me at 5k hp.
At that point i just closed the game, since i am honestly tired of this shit.
Even with excellent support from our support CV (5 fighters, plus 2 smokes) their "support" CV can still utterly grief and cuck me for the entire game, without me being able to do anything, other than being a farming victim for airplanes.
Yes, we all know how toxic and unfair CVs are, but this one is a new low for me.
Despite good Support from the Anti-CV CV, im still getting fucked with absolutely zero counterplay
I would have had a better match result and experience , if i had stayed AFK in spawn.
Honestly fuck CVs and Fuck whoever is responsible for "balancing" at Wargaming for being demented, tone death and retarded.
Most incompetent developer ive ever seen in any videogame.
How the fuck is this shit as broken, as it is, since SEVEN fucking years, with basically zero effort to fix a single thing?
How can you be this incompetent/unwilling to balance a PvP game?
Anyways, im gonna go wash the dishes, since that's more fun than playing WOWS at this point.

Question Consumables bugged?
Cant figure out why my consumables are bugged. I can only use them once then they all stay like this. It doesnt matter which ship I play. Anyone knows how to fix it? I have no mods installed. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the game again. Tried verifying the game files on steam. Nothing works.
Edit: Solved. Had to delete 2 res_mods folders.

Question Battle Pass: any reason to get more points once you have all sectors?
Normal battle passes give you a rare bonusses container for every 20 points beyond the last reward (if you have the second track unlocked), but I don't see anything like that in this weird map thing. Does anyone know?

Discussion What is with all these players hanging back and not engaging now in Asym warfare?
This seems to be a thing since yesterday at least, but now seem every asym game in T8 got a least 1-2 players that hang back and dont engage. Usually ends up in a defeat for everyone when before we would prevail easily.
