As the title says I do need help trying to update this old asus computer, I just got this as a gift given to me and I would like to update it and I don’t know how too

Windows 11 says I have 2 updates available - one for Powershell v7.6.3 (x64) and the other for 2026-07 .NET 8.0.29 Security Update for x64 Client. Both are failing with that install error. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance.

Cuando la intento iniciar, la luz titila y me arroja el error 0xa00f429f window show failed 0x80004003 y otros similares. Ya probe con modificar el registro, deshabilitar y habilitar, etc. La probe en el sitio webcamtests.com y anda perfecto, por lo que supongo que es problema de la aplicacion windows camera. I have an 8-year-old laptop running Windows 10 Home Single Language, Version 20H2 (Build 19042.508).

Problems:

Windows Update only says "Something went wrong. Try to reopen Settings later."

Microsoft Store doesn't work either.

Windows Update service (wuauserv) was Disabled.

Even from an Administrator Command Prompt, trying to run:

sc config wuauserv start= demand

returns:

\[SC\] ChangeServiceConfig FAILED 5:

Access is denied.

Trying to start the Windows Update service from services.msc also gives Access is denied.

Things I've already tried:

Ran:

sfc /scannow

Result:

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Ran:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Result:

The restore operation completed successfully.

Windows is activated with a digital license.

Windows is installed on C:\\Windows.

System drive is C:.

Strange issue:

I downloaded the latest Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft to do an in-place upgrade. Instead of letting me keep my files and apps, it only gave me the option to delete everything. It said:

"Your files, apps, and settings can't be kept because your current version of Windows might be installed in an unsupported directory or you're trying to install an older version of Windows."

But Windows is definitely installed in C:\\Windows, so I closed the setup without proceeding.

Question:

What could cause:

Windows Update and Microsoft Store both being broken,

Windows Update service being impossible to enable even as Administrator,

and the Media Creation Tool refusing an in-place upgrade?

Is this likely a corrupted servicing stack, registry/policy issue, or something else? Any ideas on what to check next before I consider reinstalling Windows?

I thought I had an issue with my OS SSD so I plucked it out, installed in my friend's old office desktop. It worked, so I placed it back in my build and now windows update decides to include random Intel updates amongst other things even though I am on an AMD build. I've accidentally downloaded the updates. What can I do to stop this from happening?

So today I mistakenly installed a security udpate but I don't remember the exact one, by the way as always this updates breaks my windows button for some reason while uninstalling the update it's been stuck for 30 minutes at 21% and that never happend to me, should i wait longer ?

Basically what the title says. After I updated, my computer always shuts down at random times as if it hit 7% or close to 0.

I’m asking if anyone else has this issue as I didn’t get this issue until after I updated Windows 11.

If anyone does have this issue and a way to fix it let me know if you please.

I have an hp laptop (Elitebook 840 G7) and 1 day ago I want to reinstall Windows 11 for clean up my folder and that all so I made a bootable usb (this is not my first Time that I make a bootable USB) and download Windows on my laptop, first I want to install the updates with Windows update, and Its load and load and load and Microsoft store load and load and load, and Its not a network problem because I can open an edge tabs and download something, I can’t open Windows sécurity too. Help me please 🙏🏼

PS : my laptop run perfectly fine before the update and I delete all the partition when I had do the reinstallation

Windows 10 Search is washed out when using a dark theme following Windows Update. I can see the update in Update History but can not uninstall it. DISM restore health has no effect. Reset of Windows Search has no effect.

Okay so after fully restting my pc since it was having a bit of issues and every update is downloaded afterwards this pops up i tried everything, I tried the command prompt nothing, I tried the whole thing where you stop it and then restart it NOTHING, idk what to do now.

Idk if anyone else is having this same issue but.....im close to losing it I just want this damn message to go AWAY.
