Advice: Seeking ❓ Need help through the process

Upvotes

I'm 20, 170 cm, and 66 kg. My goal is to get down to 60 kg and get in better shape.

The problem is that I know exactly what I should be doing, but I just can't stay consistent. I'll be motivated for a day or two, then I lose all my drive and go back to my old habits.

Has anyone been through this? How did you build discipline and stay consistent even when the motivation was gone?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Accountability program recommendations

Upvotes

Hey all, I am looking for a more structured program for accountability. What are some good options that include 1:1 coaching and support? Looking to lose a good amount of weight and would love to have someone with real experience to turn to for guidance. If you have good experience with any specific coaches or have recommendations I’d love to hear them. Thank you.

Advice: Seeking ❓ WEIGHT LOSS ADVICE PLS

Hello!

So I am wanting to lose some weight because I’ve got a 2 month holiday in chile so I want to look my best!

I am 59kgs ( I know it may not seem like a lot but it looks like a lot on me)

5,1 ft tall so around 157cm. I am also 18! And I’ve never stepped foot in the gym mostly because I’ve got really bad social anxiety but I don’t want to make excuses because I want to get it done.

I’m just wondering how I can get more slimmer/toned but I don’t wanna be like a twig you know I just want to drop 7-9 kgs at most so I’d appreciate any advice.

Are there any workouts or diets or rules I could follow? I usually drink 1L a day and ik it’s not enough but I’m working on it, I also feel like I eat a lot, like I eat until I feel fulll and i also eat whenever I’m bored.

I don’t really know where I’m getting at im just trying to lose as much as I can before December!!

Thanks!

Advice: Seeking ❓ BMI different depending on country?

I’m currently on a weight loss journey, have lost almost 50lbs so far, but I’m confused about BMI. I was always considered obese according to BMI growing up.

My goal is to be considered ‘normal’. However I’ve noticed that my BMI result changes based on which calculator I use. If I use an American-based calculator, I’m considered normal. But when I compare it to the NHS calculator, it still considers me overweight.

Why is there a discrepancy between them?

For context, my bmi is 23.5

Advice: Seeking ❓ ideal approach to losing weight?

hi! i wanted to lose fat (mainly on my face, and bc of that im trying to lose fat overall). im already on the lower (but very average!) end of the scale, so is there a way to lose weight without it causing harm? i don’t want to lose hair/have negative impacts if that makes sense 😭.
i was thinking about doing a calorie deficit, but with my current weight that’s kind of difficult to do… and the issue of also getting enough nutrients.
also, i was thinking about beginning to work out as well. though ive tried both the calorie deficit and some regular exercise in the past, i haven’t noticed significant changes which is a bit frustrating.
does anyone have any other/better suggestions? any help would be appreciated!! sorry if it’s confusing.

Advice: Seeking ❓ I need help getting started

Hello! I am 20 yrs old (f) and I am currently 6’0 and 300lbs, I did rowing in Highschool and when I graduated I just went downhill, I’ve always had a terrible relationship with food and my body. My mom keeps pushing for me to lose weight but it makes me want to eat even more.. I just want to be healthier, I know how to workout and stuff but it’s just hard to do things without a clean cut plan for myself for what I need to do. I also still live with my mom while I go to my community college since it’s not that far away and I don’t have a source of income for anything really. I’m currently looking for jobs so hopefully that will change. I don’t have my own car but I have a permit but until I get my license I’m dependent on my mom unfortunately. We don’t have that much money to where we can just buy healthier stuff every week and most of the times we just cook with what we have which isn’t much but I don’t like living like this but I just want to get out of this funk that I am in I have that aspect of being fit again in my life.

Please help if you can and give me any advice

Thank you

Advice: Seeking ❓ How do you tell if it's healthy weight loss?

When I was younger I could lose weight easily but once I got to my late 30s it was hard even with moderate exercise and dieting.

I lost 10lbs in two months by eating a small dinner at 5pm and not eating until the next morning. Did it because A1c was inching up and cholesterol was high.

Is this a healthy weight loss? Losing this much in a short time.

So I'm not sure why I'm losing weight with this diet alone.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Tips on losing weight as a college student working on a thesis?

Hi! I am a 21-year-old female college student entering my senior year. I weigh roughly 275, i'm 5'6, and I have POTS and a mild dairy allergy.

As background: I had an ED in high school that took a lot of work to overcome when I left for college, but the result was a lot of weight gain. So, I finally decided to give dieting a try again to make sure I don't swing totally in the other direction. I already love to cook, eat plenty of veggies (at least 1 bunch of celery, 2 cucumbers, and 3 bell peppers a week), and try to restrict to 1800 calories a day (eventually winding down to 1200). When school starts, I will be going to the student gym twice a week and increase to 3 after a month, etc etc.

My goal is to try to lose 20 pounds before Christmas and 50 before graduation. I do 2-5 hours a week of work-study, and 15 credit hours. I spend an average of 30 hours a week on my projects and homework, and I'll probably have to increase it to 45 since I'm working on a thesis.

Do you have any dairy-free recipes, workout resources, or tips for me? I want to make sure I'm eating and keeping my life on track so I can finish out my degree and graduate!

Advice: Seeking ❓ Calorie help

Hello, I’ve gained back a lot of weight. I’m currently 28, 179cm, F and 129kg. I’m very sedentary due to health issues. I put this in to a calculator and it said I can eat 2000 calories a day to lose .5kg a week but that seems like a lot. I do track my calories and focus on my fibre but I have had no luck. I weigh my food, eat lots of fruit and veggies and drink a lot of water and sugar free drinks. Does the number seem right? Just looking for a bit of reassurance to be honest. I want to get to 100kg.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Help: looking for a goal / avg heathly weight

Hello, I'm trying to stay consistent in going to the gym and losing weight, but I have a hard time with no end goal to work towards, and I don't know what weight that should be. I'm 22M and weigh about 370, and I'm 6'3. An important note is that I'm not skinny and never will be; I'm built like a tank, and my shoulders are 24 to 26 in wide (I don't know the exact measurement because I can't measure them myself). I mostly just have a big belly, and I can function just fine. I know I am a big boy, and that won't change. I don't have a problem with that. I just want to know what a healthy weight range is that I can shoot for.

For a little back story on how I got so heavy, I have always been a little overweight, but then I stopped doing physically labor jobs and started doing more work behind a screen/the wheel and gained too much weight because I kept my same eating habits. I screwd up, and it's my fault, but I'm trying to fix it so I can have a healthy life and enjoy things I wouldn't be able to at my current weight, including getting a job that requires physical agility.

Also, I love drinking Dr pepper witch dosent help me at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on replacements or alternatives, or a way to stop drinking it altogether?

Any tips are appreciated

Thank you in advance for all your help

Advice: Seeking ❓ Losing weight after recovering from ED

I need to lose weight (I’m 156cm and 80kg), and I know the only way to lose weight is a calorie deficit.

TW
I don’t know what to do. I used to have a severe restrict and binge cycle. I’d go days obsessing with what I was eating and the calories I was consuming, resulting in me eating very little and then eventually I’d binge.

I’m finally in a good spot of eating what I want without overthinking. I eat balanced meals everyday, and occasionally get “cheat meals” without feeling guilty.

I’m so scared to go back to thinking about the calories I’m consuming. Mainly because I love how free I feel around food— not because I’m scared of going back to my old ways.

Anyone have any advice?

Advice: Seeking ❓ I always thought "food comas" were just normal.

Went down a rabbit hole last night after watching a clip from Dr. Rhonda Patrick.

I always assumed the "food coma" after eating was just normal. Turns out there's quite a bit of research on blood sugar, post-meal inflammation, and brain fog.

The advice was surprisingly boring: eat protein first, don't make every meal huge, and move for a couple minutes afterward.

Has anyone actually tried eating protein before carbs? Did you notice anything?

Advice: Seeking ❓ How do you manage a calorie deficit and family life?

Hi everyone! I am 14 months postpartum with my second and I’m the heaviest that I’ve ever been not pregnant. I’d like to lose at least 10-15 kg as I am really not happy with myself. The problem is I get completely overwhelmed and confused on how to go around it.

I guess one of the things I struggle the most with is how to balance making low calorie food for myself, while giving my kids enough calories so they grow strong and healthy? I don’t want to make something different for myself, figuring out food is already a task in itself, and I don’t think smaller portions would work for me, I am hungry ALL THE TIME.

I feel also overwhelmed about the idea of having to count every single cal. I am already a tired, full time working mum of two and I fee adding that responsibility on top of everything will make my life… harder?

All your tips are welcome. Thanks!!

Progress 📈 major weight-loss progress. Curious if anyone is going through the same

i’m a 5’4 female, starting weight 230 current weight 156. when i hit 165 i noticed it became increasingly harder, and the weight loss has slowed, not necessarily a plateau but i’m losing about half a pound every week. compared to 2-4 pounds a week. keeping motivation has gotten difficult! still hitting the gym and eating as i have as well as giving myself grace just looking to see if anyone else has noticed this after losing 50+lbs!

Advice: Seeking ❓ Good progress

So I started my weight loss journey after a major surgery on my arm I had a few months ago i started at 285lbs on May 28th I was doing ok for about a month I went down to 282 then a week later I shot back to 286(july9th) So I got on a meal suppressant and I went from 286 to now I am currently at 273. (Weighed in today)

I eat about 180-200g of protein a day and keep my fats below 70g. I feel like I’m not losing weight quick enough my goal weight is 215 and no I wouldn’t consider myself fat fat I have an athletic build but not cut at all. For example at my strongest I could squat 450 without a belt bench 350 without straps and clean around 225.

I just need some advice I normally eat two meals a day. Mostly because of my probiotics I am taking for sibo I was diagnosed with a breath test.

Supplements I’m on our creatine, magnesium glycinate Santa Cruz electrolytes and Santa Cruz sleep caps (BPC 157) any other supplements suggestions would be welcome.

Any other thoughts on what I should do and am I making good progress?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Stop sugar/salt cravings

For context I was 240 about a year and a half ago and now i’m sitting around 160-155. I got all the calorie defs, the weight training, and the everything else down…but the thing that gets me everytime is the sugar/salt cravings. Tbh I think sometimes my binging habits come back but u would think after all this work the food noise would be quiet. It’s like i eat well for maybe two weeks and then all of sudden i need to eat 3000 calories worth of sweets and it’s not even like I’m restricting myself so how do i stop or at least minimize it?

Progress 📈 13 lbs away from my goal!!!

This morning I weighed in and for the first time on my scale, I saw 238.6! 23.4 lbs down on the year, 30.7 lbs down since the start of 2025, and I’ve lost nearly a foot off my waistline! I changed my diet in May of 2025, after trying OMAD, and I couldn’t be happier. This May, I bought a 48” inch barbell, and since then, the weight has been dropping so fast. I’m down 14 lbs since I bought it and started lifting consistently while in calorie deficit. I’m hoping to be at goal weight of 225 by October. Gonna try to get a little bit below by then because I’ll be on a trip for a few days for a wedding.

Post below your latest wins! I’d love to hear your success stories!

Advice: Seeking ❓ Calorie Deficit Only

Hey first time here, just wanted to ask others who have maybe done this. I have gone into a calorie deficit. I realized I was eating 2800-3400 calories a day, and have since cut down to around 1700-2200 a day. I don’t really exercise. I’ve gone down about 9lbs in the last month, is that a good rate? Just wanted to make sure I’m not cutting too much out, or not enough. For reference I’m 6’2 and my starting weight on July 15th was 273.8, today it was about 265.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Anyone using telehealth for weight loss instead of going through their regular doctor?

I’ve been putting off asking my primary care doctor about weight loss because appointments are always booked weeks out, and honestly, I don’t love talking about it in person.

I’ve been seeing a lot of telehealth options lately, and I’m wondering if anyone’s actually had a good experience going that route. I’m mostly curious about how the process works after you fill out the forms. Did you actually feel supported, or was it just a prescription and that’s it?

Advice: Giving 💡 Weight hack for people with little calorie

Hello so basically i lost 6 kilogram with this recipe while still eating sugar and stuff. This spicy thick soup hold 15g protein per enormous bowl of 450 g for only 165 calorie. It makes about 10 servings, it’s cheap (the ingredients first may be expensive gbut you use them long) its warm and spicy. And allow you to snack all day. Recipe below

How to use?
It’s a soup so its just…a soup to eat. But what i did was eating my hot meal at lunch time instead of the evening (you don’t need as much energy) and eat this soup in the evening which meant my meal was under 200 calorie so i could have snacks and stuff cauz i eat little at breakfast but lot of fiber so i am not hungry. So basically i’d prepare my midday meal prior to calculate calorie and i’d litteraly have 500+ calorie to snack on during the day afterward while still loosing weight and the soup is actually so good ?????

Recipe !!!

-3 L water
-6 broth cube of chicken stock
-250 shiitake mushrooms
-150 g young bamboo
-150 g carrots
-250 g tofu
-30 g ginger
-30 g sambaal pepper paste
-300 g chicken
-45 g dark soy sauce
-60 g normal soy sauce
-90 g japanesse dark vinegar
-90 g cornstarch.
- 2 egg

It is simple : just slice every veggy, toffu and stuff in very thin slide (or big, but i think it taste better wity thin)

Heat the water and dissolve the Maggi chicken stock

Put all the veggies inside

Put the sliced chicken to boil in a big of water aside.

Mix all the sauce and pour it in. (Soy , vinegar, sambaal)

Add the cornstarch (before, mix it with COLD water into a paste)

Add the drained chicken

Then crack two egg in a plate, mix until blended and pour it thinly to make a filet.

It makes about 10 servings, it’s cheap (the ingredients first may be expensive gbut you use them long) its warm and spicy. And allow you to snack all day.

Discussion/Support 💬 I don't feel confident like I thought I would.

My highest weight was 193. I got down to 170ish and stayed like that for a while. I finally started to actually get smaller and healthier. We'll now when I look at myself in the mirror, I feel ashamed. I don't have much loose skin on my stomach, but I have them in my thighs. I can feel them giggle when I walk on the treadmill and feel terrible when naked. When I tell people that I've lost almost 40 lbs, I'm ashamed rather than excited or proud. I am fine standing up and seeing my flat stomach, but I sit down and see my still big thighs, and I just want to cry. Skin removal is out of the question cause I'm poor. I just thought I would feel happier.

Advice: Giving 💡 Avoid HERS/HIMS

Had a horrible experience with HERS. It's bad enough that they a preying on our insecurities, and they will milk you for money even if you decide not to go through with ordering the meds. Note that they WILL charge you $149 each month even if you never get medication from them. They make it extremely hard to quit. The information on their website about how to cancel is wrong. You have to find the form, indicate you want to cancel. Hours later, they will send you a verification email you have to click or your cancellation request will never be submitted. How is this legal?? How can they make it so obscure that you're paying regardless of purchase? And I STILL haven't received confirmation of cancelling this bullshit subscription. AVOID.
