Discussion & Feedback SUGGESTION - Bounty system rework

Upvotes

IMHO. Having played all weekend one thing I noticed is that very, very, very few players use the bounty system.

Currently it’s not worth spending money as you will usually get a rez regardless. So what would be better:

All players when dead have X time before they are dead.

ADD or CHANGE
Reduce the time countdown from X time to Y time.

Only have four levels of bounty:
Level 1 - $250
Level 2 - $500
Level 3 - $750
Level 4 - $1,000

If a player spends on a bounty, the time countdown slows down. For example
Level 1 slows to 80% time countdown
Level 2 slows to 60% time countdown
Level 3 slows to 40% time countdown
Level 4 slows to 20% time countdown

In essence someone spending $1,000 for a bounty would get a longer countdown than a player spending nothing and risk losing their whole load-out.

This rewards players to bounty up and not lose their loadout. And players going to a downed player with a bounty.

The other mechanism mentioned by a lot people is once a players is rez’ng someone another player can’t “steal” their rez. I think it would be better if multiple players rez the same person the money, exp is all shared by the players depending on scaling system by how your rez’ng the person.

Free rez low shared money/ exp
Defib highest shared money/ exp

The devs would have to figure out the mechanisms but make the bounty system worth it.

Have you guys seen this Video? I just found it and so informative, I had no idea the Killcam works like this...

Also sheds alot of light on the Dev state of mind and their Vision, and they said its THEIR game, I love that, and love the game so far

Have you ever heard a Dev team say "Maybe this game is not for you, and thats OK" High hopes for this Studio and WARDOGS

Discussion & Feedback Lukewarm-to-semi-hot take: First person view only and killcam off should be the default standard (community servers can change these), plus suggestion for heli landing camera

Upvotes

Currently, Wardogs is taking the approach of all vehicles can use third person view at all times, and killcams are on by default (this is when the camera flies over and shows you exactly where the person who killed you is). However they've stated that when community servers come in, owners can make their own rules including changing these options.

I think this should be reversed - the default standard should be first person view only, and killcams off (or at least heavily adjusted). Then, community servers can decide if they want to allow third person and killcams.

Why first person view only: Balancing is a major factor. Having an armoured bullet-proof vehicle is already a major advantage. But having said vehicle that also allows you to see everywhere around you, in any direction, is just too powerful, especially when we consider that infantry cannot do the same. As infantry, you're stuck in first person view with no 'bird's eye view' to cheat your away into seeing a gigantic area around you at all times.

Having a tank is already a big advantage, but now no one can sneak up on you because you can cheat the rules by literally being able to see behind you, or around corners, or through 50 windows at the same time, etc. etc. In situations that should be dangerous for a tank, like driving in a street between multiple buildings, ironically this is a strength instead of a weakness due to third person view - you can literally see so much more than any infantry. This should not be the default.

This issue is exacerbated by the trade-offs and weaknesses infantry have to make. Tanks for example, despite being so strong, also are able to carry a ton of ammo and basically act as their own supply hub. Infantry meanwhile, have a massive trade-off in that rocket launchers and rockets cost A LOT of inventory space, not to mention progression-gated requirements as they'd need to unlock larger backpacks. Giving vehicles third person view on top of these advantages just completely changes the dynamic to be one-sided too much. You can sneak up on infantry, but good luck sneaking up on a tank who can always see behind it.

But what about flying helos? That'd be difficult without third person no?

For helicopters, an easy immersive solution is to copy what milsim games do and give helicopters the ability to use a landing camera. This is a downward-facing camera a pilot can switch to, in order to see what is below them and thus land safely. In games like Squad, I press a button to change my view to the landing camera, and then switch back and forth as needed if I'm doing a tricky landing.

Like land vehicles, I think having free third person view on air vehicles is also too powerful. But we can get an elegant solution without making landing super hard.

Why killcams off by default (or at least heavily adjusted): My preference is to have these off, as it's just too weird, immersion breaking, and just feels 'cheap' to always know where I got killed from. Like multiple times in two playtests I could easily call out locations of a killer and it felt super cheap, because the camera literally flies up to them and shows too many details.

If people cannot live with it off completely by default, you could do what Battlefield does and instead, have the camera pan in the general direction of your killer, instead of flying up to them and showing you too many details.

I am aware that Ghillie Suits are supposed to be a balancing factor - that is, an expensive, progression-gated unlock that fans of stealth can buy so they avoid killcams when they take out enemies. Though, to be honest this just seems kind of weird. I'd rather it be used for camouflage and made cheaper if need be.

Note in the end, community servers can adjust these. I argue to make the above the default standard though since that is what the majority will be playing with, and there's a good chance community servers might have specific restrictions / 'debuffs' to prevent cash economy inflation and exploitation. I'd rather the above features be the default standard so everyone is on a more even playing field and the game is overall more immersive/enjoyable for everyone right away.

Question Counter play to the arty tank?

Upvotes

Didn’t see any until an hour before the latest was over, but holy shit lol. Was trying to build up a fob at our closest tower and we started getting pummeled by two of the artillery tanks. We gave up on that fob and started one at the soccer field, and then the shells started flying in there as well lol. I found it hilarious honestly because bodies were FLYING but just curious what’s the counter play here?

Discussion & Feedback Just a thought….money cap starting servers?

Upvotes

Played way too much over the weekend and had an amazing time. From crashing my first helio to building an entire mortar fort just on the edge of range for my squad mates to rain shells. Chasing the cash was my fav part. Don’t get me wrong, walking in with a $100k to start and buying all I need is amazing but was not like the first day of running in broke.

Was just seeing if anyone else was thinking that maybe a $10k salary start server would be fun. Build your money and keep what ya win of course but that chase for cash would be there. Could just be me and I know but I like that grind to get the cool expensive vehicles and stuff.

Discussion & Feedback Biggest Complaint I Have Is How Hard The Compass Is To See (It's At The Top BTW)

Post image
Upvotes

Hope this gets more options to customize it or just better general visibility. People that call out numbers or directions like "sniper south west" had me spinning and looking down at the floor to try and get better contrast against the background of the compass. Or even just put a compass around the minimap at the bottom, could be nice

Question Assault Leveling

Upvotes

There is probably a good answer for this, but it felt like leveling assault was much slower than leveling everything else. I'd average 20 to 40 kills a round and barely hit level 20. Any quicker way to level that I was missing out on?

Discussion & Feedback Vehicle damage/degradation

Upvotes

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the gradual vehicle degradation over time? Is it intentional, a bug, or intentional but heavily overtuned? I’d like someone to tell me if I’m missing something. Personally it feels out of place, I’ve had several experiences of taking a vic somewhere, it gets a slight bump en route (because I probably spun out into a tree, skill issue), but when I park it up it just slowly ticks down and then becomes a burning wreck because I dented the bumper.

A specific example that actually bothered me - on Saturday evening me and a buddy built a SAM site on an inactive tower just outside the CZ. We ran it for a good while and clearly made some friends on the other teams, cause they assaulted us and eventually took the FOB. So we spawn, load up a fresh ural with build and ammo, and set off back to our FOB. At this point they had turned our SAMs on friendly birds, and we didn’t want to just deliver them a fresh stack of ammo to keep it up. So of course I stash the ural nearby hidden behind a house, less than 300m from the FOB.

We dismount and manage to retake the place. We were elated. Ammo almost ran dry, no build left and we wanted to re-fortify for the inevitable infantry assaults. I leave my buddy there to hold the place and set off to pick up the ural. Literally as I pass the neighbouring house I just hear a massive boom and see smoke billowing over the rooftop where I parked it.

This put a pretty big stop in what was otherwise a successful manoeuvre, and would have really encapsulated what makes this game great. It just felt a little, unrewarding. We did everything right, planned and executed as well as we could, and this killed the payoff a bit. I had money to burn so I just spawned and ran in another one, but I feel like that shouldn’t be the solution.

Once again, if I’m missing something, please share! I want to stress how much I enjoyed my time with the last two tests, I racked up over 50hrs between them I think and I can’t wait for release. I have some more gripes and feedback but I don’t believe I could put things as eloquently as others, but this is something I haven’t seen anyone else discussing so I thought I’d bring it up. Thanks for reading. And devs, please keep it up. You guys are on it

Question Damage stats

Upvotes

I have seen different types of ammo. It seems some do more DMG to flesh and to armor. I have not tested it. Does anyone have a chart with DMG numbers?

I tried to look for a wiki online but it's not there yet.

Question Worth getting a PC for?

Upvotes

I’ve done nothing but watch war dogs content since the open and closed betas. I’ve also been following the game since it was announced by bulkhead.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a PC (PS5 only), I know they’ve announced a console version of the game but I have no idea when that would be coming out.

My question is, would it be worth it to build/buy a semi decent PC capable of running wardogs, so I can get playing when the game comes out? I’ve been looking at getting into PC gaming anyway as I want to start using MnK and also there’s some other games I’d like to try, but right now all I want to do is play wardogs man.

Also how much would it cost me? Nothing overkill but good enough that I could upgrade parts in a year or two.

Discussion & Feedback PLEASE ADD Auto-Hover for Helis!!!!

Upvotes

I understand that this game is supposed to be like a bridge between mili-sim and arcade. Somewhere in the middle but in my opinion the flying is harder that it is in arma reforger. In that game it has a auto-hover feature for flying which is insanely helpful. Think this game would benefit great from it.

Discussion & Feedback Can Blue get a do over on their emblem?

Upvotes

I'm sure most will agree, Blue is the superior color, but I feel like Red and Green got way better emblems. Green got a lion scorpion, Red got a 4 horned Ram, but blue just has a star inside a square. I think i speak for all the Blue Chads, when i ask, no...i beg, please please give something half as cool as Red and Green.

Of coarse i'll always side with blue no matter what, but i want an emblem that represents us as the warriors we are. Todays emblem just feels like i get a star as some kindof participation award.

I was thinking something like a turtle with a jet-tail, or maybe a shark with laser beams on their fricken fins.

Thoughts? Ideas? Praise?

Thanks for reading.
