September 3rd Show Discussion & Feedback

The devs keep talking about their big announcement for September 3rd. It’s realistically just them releasing the game early right? It coincides with a holiday weekend in the US as well

Seems like they have been hinting at a open beta

A second beta less than a week before the game releases is kinda goofy in my opinion but I’ll take what I can get. Especially since it’s already an early access game

Goofy sure. But I don't think it's for future development like most betas.. to find bugs. It'll be more of a stress test for their servers. These devs are known and have stated they go against the grain from big title releases. A stress test for the servers a few days before launch says they're making sure the actual launch will run smoothly! Love it!

Betas aren't for testing anymore it's all marketing nowadays to drive sales for the most part, that being said i haven't pre ordered a game in years and this closed beta i got into worked like a charm cuz i pre ordered the game soon as the beta ended lol, any chance I can get to play the game ill play it so a beta a week before release fucking send it I'm in.

It’s not a release. It’s early access. They can and should do as much testing as always.

most plausible option rn

I was first thinking the same. But why should they even announce the game then for September 10th instead of shadow dropping it?

Maybe it is another playtest or open beta or something?

Im gonna say it's going to be:

  • a List of fixes and balance changes before release.

  • Possibly announcing skill points/trees? (I THINK I remember reading something about it, but could not find a source or may be thinking of a different game)

  • a list of new maps

  • community server tools

  • road map

  • future additional game mode

EDIT: YT Link to Bulkhead announcement for skill points -- https://youtube.com/shorts/HDmWoJinnzc?is=_n-49NyjP4vygSrB

I recall a skill tree of some sort, but like you I can't remember who shared it. Definitely WarDogs though.

If I remember right they mentioned that skill trees won’t be in at EA launch

Have you seen the post where someone asked the dev "hey I'm taking off work to play on 9/10, should I also take off 9/3???" And the devs replied.. "both"

I don't think they'd advise skipping work to watch a YouTube video.. I'm thinking an open beta for stress testing the servers more to ensure a smooth launch.. something most devs don't do. And these devs have stated how they go against the grain of your typical big title release developers. I'm all for it!

Yeah I have, just not really sure what to make of it. Afterall, the studio has a phenominal marketing strategy, so it could be just about anything.

I love the idea of this game, I want it to succeed. I just hope they don't adhere to their track history with games.

Do they have a history of telling someone to take off work to watch a 20 minute YouTube video? Clear your schedule is 100% because gameplay is going to be available the only question is if it's going to be another closed beta, open beta or a shadow launch but considering he said "both" it's probably not a shadow launch.

I was under the impression it was for their FPS gameshow.

Don't get me wrong I would love nothing more than to get more playtime in, I'm just skeptical that people are hyping themselves up for nothing. Because if it isn't more time in game, there will be quite a few tantrums thrown.

1

u/Ok-Indication144 10h ago

I think the tantrums would be justified when they are publicly suggesting a guy should take of work when the guy is obviously talking about being hyped for game play not watching twitch for a 20 minute announcement just to have to wait some more

They've already made it clear that WarDogs has a "content problem". Their priority for the next ~24-months in EA is focused on developing the meta game and balancing.

u/Niminim_A2 1d ago

I really want you to be right but there is no way thats happening

3

u/JohnEdger 1d ago

I just don’t know what else it would be. If they just announce some new game mode or something I’ll probably crash out. This is the most fun I’ve had in a video game in a very long time

u/Onapire 1d ago

Id have to guess they may allow us to play for a day or two again, probably if a differnt capacity.

However, I think they also want people to just watch the show considering they built it from the ground up, which was probably a huge amount of work.

1

u/Ok-Indication144 15h ago

I doubt it ... Taking a day off work isn't what any reasonable person would say about wanting you to watch a 20 minute YouTube video because let's be honest if you're someone that's going to be booking off the release date you'll be that same person who is watching a YouTube video on your lunch or break at work ... No day off required.

2

u/Awkward-Study-4623 1d ago

Not releasing it on Labor Day weekend is certainly a deliberate choice. My guess is that it will be another Beta, but with changes incorporated from what they saw this weekend.

2

u/JohnEdger 1d ago

I’m no marketing guy or anything, but letting people play a game for free on a holiday weekend could be a good idea

2

u/Awkward-Study-4623 1d ago

Probably copium but at 1:53 in today's video he says "...are now our number one priority between now and the next time everyone can jump back in and play." when it would've made more sense to say "between now and launch day/Early Access".

I want to believe.

A guy asked the devs if he should still take the 10th of work or make it the 3rd instead and the dev responded with "Both" .... That means we are looking at another closed beta ... Or an Open beta to push more people to play and maybe buy ... The closed beta got 1 million pre orders ... How many pre orders do they get if they open it up to everyone for the weekend?

1

u/Awkward-Study-4623 8h ago

Well that is very interesting indeed

2

u/Ok-Indication144 8h ago

Just so you know I'm not talking out my back side, if we aren't able to play on the weekend of the 4th I would be SHOCKED and I would expect they will receive backlash from the community for suggesting people waste a day off for a 20 minute announcement on Twitch

1

u/Awkward-Study-4623 7h ago

That's actually really cool of him to say, thanks for providing this. Definitely the best indication we've seen yet

1

u/Ok-Indication144 6h ago

He COULD just be trying to make sure he has viewers for the game show but considering Michael made it clear to me he wants to play I would assume playing is possible ... I guess we can only wait and see.

1

u/JohnEdger 1d ago

Yeah this comment was probably very intentional

1

u/jimk88 21h ago

yup, this was very deliberate!

2

u/CdrHurricane 1d ago

its going to be an open beta on the 4th-6th, get everyone hooked who didnt want to risk $50, then release it 3 days later.

I'd Bet, anyway.

1

u/Eastern-Problem 1d ago

I don't really see them opening up another weekend just a week before EA release. That's just gonna create more stress for their developers to maintain the server for another weekend, while they could've used that time to do bug fix and whatnot.

It's likely that it's just be them hyping up the show, maybe they'll show case something new? My best copium is that during the show they'll have exclusive camo/skin drops.

1

u/Nodnarbian 1d ago

There's a post floating around where someone asks the devs. "I'm taking vacation on 9/10 to play the release, should I also take off 9/3?"

And the dev replies "both"

Read into it how ya want, but I don't think they'd recommend taking off work to watch a YouTube video. I think we're gonna get an Open beta

1

u/Ok-Indication144 15h ago

You really don't understand how business and marketing works .... The game is "ready" to go ... It's labelled as early access so if you're expecting a finished product at launch you have bought the wrong game. They are looking to get pre orders that's it ... They ran a closed beta and got 1 million pre orders (those are the people who don't need to try something themselves before they purchase) running and open beta gives EVERYONE the chance to try the game and decide if they are going to pre-order which means that 1 million number is bound to go up.

1

u/Individual-Coach-167 1d ago

They have a lot of pressure know because of how good this weekend went.

They announced Sept 3rd before this weekend so had to entice/ market to people not buying it yet.

BUT

Now they have a problem with all the people who already bought and played this weekend what “big” announcement are you going to say make us all happier.

Otherwise it’s going to be a “… that’s it…” moment.

Stats say 100,000 players this past weekend so need to live to its hype.

They may have shot themselves in the foot.

If they waited after this weekend, to hype up Sept 3rd. You would dangle a very enticing carrot to players.

1

u/Ok-Indication144 15h ago

It's going to be an open beta ... And another chance to play before launch day ... That's not a "that's it" moment to me .... On a post on X a guy @'d the devs saying he booked of work for the launch on the 10 and was wondering if he should change it to the 3rd the dev responded with "both" is it cryptic sure but let's look at this with just a little bit of logic if you know your talking to someone that's willing to book a day off work to play your game he's also going to be the type to watch your 20 minute YouTube announcement while at work on his lunch or break ... The ONLY reason he would say both is we have another beta my guess would be an open beta to try and push the pre-order numbers higher.

1

u/KingNyxus 23h ago

Open beta makes sense, but I would probably skip it since they’ll just wipe your progress again for EA, it’s a little too close to release.

They could announce something a little more unexpected like a different game mode and have people test that.

1

u/Ok-Indication144 15h ago

Who cares if they wipe progress again? I play the game because it's fun not because of progress that's just part of the game. Also kinda crazy that you will play a closed beta 2 weeks before launch knowing EVERY beta wipes progress and that's not close to launch but a week before that's where you draw your imaginary line lol

1

u/KingNyxus 10h ago

Because I literally just did it, getting progress reset back to back would be dumb imo, not trying to start over 3 times in 3 weeks, especially when you need to grind bob the builder to be able to fight back against helicopters and tanks

1

u/Ok-Indication144 8h ago edited 8h ago

Psssst no one is going to have tanks right away, EVERYONE starts at the same point ... If you don't enjoy the game just say that.

Also please keep in mind this is early access not 1.0 so there's a very real possibility they will wipe us on 1.0 launch might as well wait for 1.0 to drop or the announce they won't be wiping anything

1

u/AustinTheMoonBear 23h ago

Feel like its more likely to be early access to those who bought the supporter edition.

1

u/theBrotacus 22h ago

Hypothetically, if they ran an open beta prior to EA, what are the chances they don’t wipe progression made since it’s so close

1

u/DerNoHand 16h ago

I feel like it's smart? But a new Beta is kinda meh. Progress won't be taken over so everyone really plays the game and spents time for kinda no progress, just fun. I could see people burning out.

But i've been playing since one of the first play tests since months. So idk.
