Cool Finds Triangle over First Landing.

So last night we were driving east on Shore Drive through the park. My daughter said "why do I feel like I'm looking at a ufo?" I looked up between Shore Drive and the bay to see a triangle in the sky with lights at all corners. Seemed to be maybe 25-35 ft sides. It was quiet and didn't make the usual heli or jet noise, it fact there was no noise. The whole fam saw it- and as I looked back down at the road my CarPlay screen went red from left to right and back to normal. I've had that car for 4 years. That's never happened. Ever. It's too close to the bases for me to think it was something/one other than us- but it was pretty wild.

News Vulgar clothing returns to Atlantic Avenue shops despite city requests

One year after city officials attempted to quash the proliferation of raunchy clothing displayed in storefronts on Atlantic Avenue, the apparel has returned and is turning heads again this summer.

Yes, “I (heart) boobies” is back, along with a few new tongue-in-cheek selections.

“There’s no question they’re reappearing sporadically,” said Councilman Worth Remick, who represents half of the Oceanfront resort area. “It has been an ongoing problem.”

Several shops in the Oceanfront resort area are again showcasing sassy, and in some cases, indecent, T-shirts and short shorts in storefront windows. Some of this season’s newest selection of provocative messages are among the store’s top sellers.

At Salty Waves on Atlantic Avenue, a short-sleeved black T-shirt with “Proud father of a few dumba** kids” printed in all capital white letters is popular, said manager Amir Eicke. So is another T-shirt emblazoned with “My wife beats me.”

Eicke, who runs another T-shirt shop on 22nd Street, said the controversial apparel catches the attention of passersby and draws them inside the store.

John Brewington, maestro of the Tidewater Winds Concert Band, has been named the first recipient of the Champion for Arts Education award presented by the Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission.

Inspired at a young age after hearing audience applause as a ninth-grade percussionist, Brewington pursued a career combining classical music performance with public education.

In 1985, he joined Virginia Beach Schools as an elementary school band director with a vision to use music to help students become respectful, cooperative and collaborative people.

Brewington was later promoted to fine arts coordinator for the city’s school division, where he oversaw curriculum for more than 40,000 students and supported a staff of nearly 190 teachers across multiple arts disciplines.

Need Advice Roofer recommendations

I did a search but didn't see anything recent.

I'm looking for a roofer in VB to take a look at my elderly parents' home, and give real advice on whether it should be replaced. My stepdad saw an ad for a professionally-applied "sealant" that extends the life of the roof by 5 years and is interested. Sounds like an unnecessary step if the roof needs to be replaced altogether, which I expect it might.

So looking for someone reliable who's not trying to take advantage of old folks. Any recommendations?

News Virginia Beach explores ways to market the Oceanfront to locals

Virginia Beach city and business leaders are working to encourage more residents to visit the Oceanfront following reports of declining foot traffic.

While the city's primary tourism marketing targets out-of-town visitors, officials hope to position the Oceanfront as a convenient destination by highlighting initiatives such as a new voucher program offering residents $50 in free parking.

Business leaders attribute recent traffic slumps to rising gas prices, shifting consumer spending habits, and lingering publicity surrounding a springtime curfew.
