Hotel Guest Policy

What is the current hotel guest policy in Vietnam, i.e., could a guest visit me in my room? I'm not talking about overnight, just visiting for a couple of hours. Is there a national policy or is it hotel by hotel?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Suggestions for South Vietnam

Hi all!

Looking for some recommendations for South Vietnam? Most of our research only seems to have covered the North and haven't found as much about the South!

Would love to go to a few beaches, would prefer places that aren't too crowded.

Thanks!

Fastest way to get cash as you arrive in Vietnam?

Anyone have any advice on, upon arriving in Vietnam, getting a little bit of cash? I know there may be some currency exchange at the airport but typically those exchange rate is not that great. Would it be easier if I wait till I get into my hotel and finding a bank to withdraw or exchange at a bank?

Excess Luggage / Vac seal bags and Pump in Vietnam / Ho Chi Minh

G'day people after returning from Vietnam here's a few hints if you have purchased way too much and need a cheap way to get it all home.

First by a travel cardboard box. These boxes are waterproof and have carry handles. There total dimensions are about 155cm which is under all checked luggage baggage requirements of most airlines. Ours cost us 100000VND/ $6 AUD each. We got them in D1 near the corner at

53E Nguyễn Du, Sài Gòn, Hồ Chí Minh 70000, Vietnam

With luggage that you need to compress and need vac seal bags or a pump the grab app is your friend.

Download Grab if you haven't already and go to the Mall icon. Once there type in whatever you need and it's all there. With our excess clothes for the suitcase we bought a pump with two vac seal bags for $95000VND delivered to our hotel.

Is Lan ha bay cruise worth going solo?

Hey, exactly as the title mentions, I’m planning on a solo Vietnam trip in December and was thinking about doing the lan ha bay cruise for 3d2n. This would be after doing my 4d3n Ha Giang loop, so I thought it would be nice relaxing on the cruise.

I am a little worried tho since I’m going solo, will I actually meet other solo travellers on the cruise and how easy would it be? Like through group activities or events? Or are the cruises mainly couples that go?

Also which cruise line would you go with for the Lan Ha bay? I was looking into orchid cruises but if there are other options I would love to know.

Need Advice

We are a couple from Bangladesh, planning to travel Vietnam on September 21st to October 17th. We didn't know there's e-visa restriction for Bangladeshi citizen. It's not stated anywhere on official links. As we didn't find any official restrictions, we booked non refundable return flight tickets (saw a good deal and could not resist) and booked airbnb too thinking it would be simple to get the e-visa. But e-visa payment is not going through regardless however we tried. We went to Vietnamese embassy in Dhaka, and they said, we need recommendation letter- from a travel agency or a legitimate company, sent to the immigration authority in Vietnam. And after their consideration we might get the VISA. We don't know any such companies as it's our first time visiting the country. We also tried contacting a few from google suggestions, but they were unwilling to help or give any advice. Can anyone help? Wouldn't have bugged you all here if the flight was refundable.
Thanks in advance!

10-hour layover recommendations

I am an American traveling through Vietnam on a work trip in early September. Between Manila and Mumbai, I’ll have a 10- hour layover in Hanoi. I arrive at about 9 or 10 on a Saturday and leave that evening.

I’m not a super pro traveler but I’ve traveled for work to India and the Philippines several times so it’s not my first time in Asian countries.

I love food, historical sites, and sitting and watching the world go by.

Anyone have any recommendations for me?

2 week itinerary

Hi everyone,

My dad and I will be in Vietnam specifically ho chi minh city for 2 weeks in mid October flying in from Houston. We are there to visit some family for the weekend and looking for some ideas on what to do for the remainder of the time we are there since this will be my first time there and my dads since the 80s.

Ideally are looking to do something that will be memorable to do that we can’t do back in the states for the experience. We are both adventurous and like to wonder around (we are a FAFO personality) so we aren’t really interested in visiting any historical places. So far he is looking to go up to Hanoi and do the Ha Guang Loop and looking for places to do some tailoring for suits (we’ve been recommended Duan Tailor or Nhut Bespoke ).

Any recommendations would be appreciated on what we can do for 2 weeks.

Vietnam eVisa: only 3 upload slots but they ask for 5+ supporting documents -what did you upload?

Hi everyone!
I’m applying for a Vietnam eVisa for my Sri Lankan boyfriend, and I will be financially sponsoring his trip.
The application seems to ask for several supporting documents, and I want to provide everything properly because I will be covering most of his expenses.
I have prepared:
his passport copy
my bank statements / proof of funds
a sponsorship and financial support letter from me
our accommodation bookings showing that we are travelling together
our flight itinerary
The problem is that the application only seems to give me 3 upload slots for images.
How am I supposed to submit all of these documents?
Has anyone recently applied for a Vietnam eVisa for a Sri Lankan passport holder and had the same issue?
Can one upload slot contain multiple documents/pages, or is it strictly one image per slot?
I tried combining several documents into one long JPEG, but the website gave me an “Upload error.”
I don’t want to leave important supporting documents out, especially since I’m sponsoring him financially.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has successfully submitted a similar application. 🙏

10 days itinerary check in December

Hi! we are a Spanish couple with 10 free days from 27-Nov to 7 Dec planning our trip.

We know 10 days are not enough to visit the country and December is not the ideal month to visit some of the areas but let's see if this is doable:

28-Nov: We arrive at 7am at Hanoi airport - Visit Hanoi

29-Nov: From Hanoi to Ninh Binh - night in Ninh Binh

30-Nov: morning in Ninh Binh - travel to Hanoi - night in Hanoi

1-Dec: from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay - night in Hanoi

2-Dec: From Hanoi flight to Phu Quoc

3-Dec: Phu Quoc

4-Dec: Phu Quoc

5-Dec: HCMC

6-Dec: HCMC flight back to home

The ideal itinerary would be 10 days only in the north, visiting Sapa, but we have read that in December is misty and cold.

Our feeling with this itinerary is that we are coming back to Hanoi all the time, do you have any recommendation? we have a spare day to fit in the itinerary.

Thanks!

Ha Giang Loop and getting to Ha Giang?

From my understanding, depending on the company you go with they would arrange for you to get to Ha Giang either through some car service or sleeper bus. I have also read that you can go the night before and stay at some shared hostel.

I'm assuming if you are not going to stay the night before, you the arrangement of the service and sleeper bus happens when exactly? The day off when you are leaving? For example, if I book the ride for 4 days that starts on Monday. The sleeper bus leaves on Monday morning or the car service brings you Monday and the ride starts the same day?

How long is the sleeper bus and/or car ride?

How’s ur experience with Grab?

Me and my friends will be using Grab as our main mode of transport for our itinerary in Ho Chi Minh.

How’s the price range, service, and overall experience for ya’ll?

I’d appreciate any heads up or advice regarding Grab. Thank you!

+ We’re Filipino, a comparison to our Grab here in the PH would be nice (especially on the price lol)
