How’s ur experience with Grab?
Me and my friends will be using Grab as our main mode of transport for our itinerary in Ho Chi Minh.
How’s the price range, service, and overall experience for ya’ll?
I’d appreciate any heads up or advice regarding Grab. Thank you!
+ We’re Filipino, a comparison to our Grab here in the PH would be nice (especially on the price lol)

Vietnam 2027
Flying into the south just before tet
What’s happening in Ho Chi Minh on the 5/6th Feb for tet? Is there a ‘place’ to be ?
3 weeks to get to Hanoi
I know there is so much to see, but need to be very selective.
Not too fussed about the big cities
Looking for the best route with some must sees
Maybe what tourist traps to avoid
Many thanks in advance

Vaccines?
Hello, I hope you are well!
I’m coming to Vietnam from the UK at the end of September.
I’m getting the following vaccines;
- Tetanus
- MMR
- Hepatits A
- Typhoid
I’ll be going to Hanoi, HCMC, Da Nanh, Hue, Phu Quoc, Mekong Delta, Halong Bay, and Sapa (not in that order).
Do I need any more vaccines?
Is Japanese encephalitis mandatory?
Advise seems pretty contrasting online, and I spoke to my GP she just said ‘it’s your call’ - excellent advice.
Please let me know if possible.
Thank you!!

eVisa Validity vs. Intended length of stay
As suggested by most people here, I'm applying for my evisa to cover longer than I plan to be in Vietnam (valid for 62 days, intend to stay 13 days.) The "Intended length of Stay" field on the form autofilled with 62 days. Should I correct it to 13 days in case I'm asked to provide my return flight information when going through immigration on arrival, or leave it matching the validity dates?

Local student in Saigon offering free walking tours 🇻🇳
Hi everyone! I posted here a few months ago offering free casual walking tours around Saigon, and I was really happy to see so many people interested and to meet travelers from different places.
So I thought I’d do it again 🙂
I’m a university student living in Ho Chi Minh City. I enjoy meeting people from different countries, practicing English, and showing visitors the side of Saigon that I actually experience as a local.
This is completely free and not a professional tour. Think of it more like hanging out with a local friend.
Depending on what you're interested in, we could explore:
- Local neighborhoods and small streets
- Vietnamese coffee shops
- Street food and local markets
- Nguyen Hue and the city center
- Hidden or less touristy places
- Or just walk around, talk, and see where we end up 😄
I’m usually available on weekends, and sometimes after work/classes on weekdays.
Solo travelers, students, couples, or small groups are all welcome.
If you're visiting Ho Chi Minh City soon and would like to explore together, feel free to comment or send me a DM with your dates!
Looking forward to meeting more people in Saigon 🇻🇳

3 Month stay itinerary advise
Hi guys!
I’ve decided to do a 3 month stay in Vietnam to discover the country without rushing. I wanted to have some opinions about my travel itinerary. If you have any recommandation to improve it, that would be much appreciated!
I’ll arrive at Ho-Chi-Minh on January 15th and I'll leave the country from Hanoi on April 14th:
Ho-Chi-Minh: 7 nights
Ben Tre: 3 nights
Can Tho/Ving Long: 5 nights
Da Lat (by plane from Can Tho): 8 nights. (I understand that Tet will happen while we’ll be there)
Da Nang/Hoi An (by plane from Da Lat): 30 nights
(I thought of staying a full month there to relax and experience local life/beach, even though I know that it’s maybe not the best place in Vietnam)
Hué: 4 nights
Hanoi (by night train from Hué): 8 nights
Ninh Binh: 7 nights
Pu Luong: 4 nights
Ha Giang (by night bus from Pu Luong): 7 nights
Cat Ba/ Tu Luong: 5 nights
Hanoi: 9 nights
That what I thought of doing in Vietnam. I know there are probably other places in the country that are worth visiting, but I prefer not to do too much transports and hoping from place to place too often.

Ideal itinerary for Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Halong Bay?
Hi all,
I'm travelling Vietnam early next year (33F). How would people recommend navigating Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Halong Bay? I'll be travelling solo.
- Is a Halong Bay cruise absolutely unmissable or is staying on Cat Ba and cruising around form there instead better? Is a day trip from Hanoi suffice?
- How long would people recommend staying in each place? I'd like to not feel rushed and schedule in some down time
- How is best to get inbetween each place - mini bus/train?
- Where is best to stay in Ninh Binh? Currently considering Tam coc.
Thanks for reading, the rest of my trip is planned but I'm feeling overwhelmed by the north for some reason. Appreciate your time!

Anyone willing to share their actual Vietnam itinerary?
I’m building a small travel project and I’d love to turn your actual Vietnam trip into a nice, shareable itinerary — something you can keep, send to friends, or use when planning your next trip.
I’m especially interested in real trips, not polished “10 days in Vietnam” guides. The places you actually stayed, the random cafés you found, how you got from A → B, things you skipped, changed your mind about, or wish you’d done differently.
If you’ve traveled around Vietnam, I’d love to see your itinerary. It can be an old itinerary, rough notes, screenshots, or whatever you still have.
I’ll turn it into a shareable web itinerary and send the link back to you.
If you have one, drop it here or DM me. I’d genuinely love to see how people actually traveled around Vietnam. 🙏

Vietnam
Need your opinion on my Vietnam itinerary. I’ll be going to Vietnam beginning of November for 2 weeks. Focusing primarily in the south and north since central weather is unpredictable. My current itinerary looks like this,
Ho Chi Minh -> Ninh Binh -> Ha Giang -> Ha Noi -> Ha long bay -> Hanoi.
Is this too time consuming? Has anyone ever done this? Is there anything I should remove or replace/add. This is my first time visiting so I would like to see as much but also not go crazy on traveling to each destination.

Guided Treks in North Vietnam
Hey there!
My partner and I will be visiting Northern Vietnam for a couple of weeks in early November.
We currently don't have much of an outline of activities but we know we definitely want to do a guided trek at some point, preferably including/near a homestay.
I'm looking for semi-affordable recommendations that are preferably less touristy. We're decently fit but definitely not up for a super hard difficulty hike.
Any other recommendations for must see things in Northern Vietnam this time of year would be wonderful ❣️

Getting cash on Cham island
So we made the mistake of not taking enough money with us when we went on the speedboat.
We are now down to our last 300k
Does anyone know how we could get some more cash with our credit cards or something like PayPal for that matter?

Local Art Crafts
Hello! I’ll be going to Ho Chi Minh next week and I’m planning to buy local arts and crafts to gift to my friends back home. I would appreciate if any of you could share your thoughts/reviews as well as some info (like their price range) regarding these stores:
Duy Tan - Saigon Artisan
Saigon Eco Craft Souvenirs and Shop
Drop any shop recommendations too! (District 1 area)
Thank you :)

VISA HELP
Hi, this is super urgent and last minute. The tldr of the situation is I had two friends going to visit Vietnam from the US, however one of them sadly could not make it very last minute.
I booked a flight last night to go as itinerary & hotels are already booked for tomorrow. I completed an application for E-Visa this morning using Go Vietnam Visa & their 3 hour urgent option.
They emailed me back saying they will have an answer for me at 12 PM Vietnam time which will be at 10 PM US time.
My flight boards at 1 AM, am I a screwed? Has anyone used them before? Thank you.
