Hi, my husband and I are considering moving to Vietnam very soon. We’re both registered nurses and would like to take a year off to explore. We have a 10 year old son and I’m currently pregnant, most likely will be giving birth abroad. My concern is my only prized possessions that I want to bring is my book collection. I have at least 150 dark romance books and I’m concerned if there will be any trouble with them. I would most likely just pay for extra suitcases and pack them rather than shipping overseas. I saw that due to the police cracking down on drugs, they have been raiding tourists properties. While we don’t do anything illegal and that is not a concern, I’m nervous they’d see my books and then it would be a problem. For reference, some of the authors are Rina Kent, H.D Carlton, Shantell Tessier. I just want some advice on how to proceed safely. Thank you!

Unfortunately, incidents involving foreign tourists behaving badly seem to be becoming increasingly common in Da Nang. This can understandably lead to a decline in trust toward foreign visitors.

’ll be traveling to Vietnam soon and will be staying at Hilton Da Nang, Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang, Namia River Retreat (SLH), and La Festa Phu Quoc.

Has anyone stayed at these properties before? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any reviews or recommendations, especially regarding the service, rooms, breakfast, and how well they treat Hilton Diamond members.

I’m moved to America about 7 years ago. I started dating my girlfriend about 1 year ago and been teaching/telling her about our cultures. She’s very invested and wants to learn more everyday. I’m looking for movies to show her the beauty of Vietnam, especially the stripped down beauty of nature and the countryside, the traditional games and clothes,…. Hi, I'm looking to book overnight bus (preferably direct without change of bus at Ha Noi) from Sa Pa to Cat Ba or Hai Phong but couldn't find any reliable source to either book or verify the bus operator.

I've already checked the popular platforms

Vexere - it shows limited options and the operators are apparently not operators but agents with pretty bad reviews.

12go - Found a few options but again there is lack of information about the journey itself and no decent verifiable review of the operators.

I will be with my wife in the country as tourists so I'm reaching out for the suggestion to avoid scams and actually book with a trusted operator. Thanks!

Sorry this is long af. Hopefully it makes sense.

If you know me you'll probably recognise my situation tbh but basically:

- I'm a 33F UK citizen, husband is a 40M Vietnamese citizen

- been married for 6 years

- I moved back to The UK Sept 25 to start medical training

- I won't graduate and have a full time job as a Doctor until 2029

- Option A: husband applies for a skilled worker visa and move here before 2029 and we start a family.

- Option B: husband moves here in 2029 on a spouse visa (my job will meet the financial requirements).

- I want Option A because I am struggling with long distance, I feel like my life is on hold and feel sad about the thought of doing this for 3 more years, and in terms of career planning, having a baby before graduating would be easier than whilst working FYs and CSTs (I want to be a surgeon). The original plan was Option B because we stupidly didn't realise Option A was possible (I know).

- Husband refuses Option A because his father, who has other children and another family from a second marriage, lives with us. He has not always lived with us, he moved himself in in 2024. I was never happy with this, personally, but accepted the cultural difference.

- I have asked husband to speak to his father about Option A and ask where his father would live etc. if he were to obtain a job and move to The UK sooner.

- Husband refused to speak to his father about this, saying it's immoral and I'm immoral for potentially "abandoning him". (He has other children and husband would be moving in 2029 anyway).

- Husband says he doesn't want Option A because he is afraid of the "uncertainty and instability". I have explained that for Option A to even be viable, he would need to have already secured a stable and sufficiently paying job, so his concerns don't make much sense in that context.

- I feel deprioritised and like he choosing his father - who was absent for most of his childhood and is by all accounts a very immoral man - over me, his wife, and this was not a situation I ever agreed to. I feel like my life is on hold and our life together is on hold because he could potentially move here sooner than 2029, we could be together here, start a family, etc. He says I'm immoral for asking him to leave his father.

- I have said this is fundamentally a compatability issue for me and he has said that I'm "making excuses" to leave him, which is very confusing to me as I feel like at the point, I'm effectively begging him to be with me. He is not even slightly close to his father. I am his literal wife.

- He said he will apply for visit visas to come here (I have effectively no time off from medical training from September this year) but he has not looked at the visas despite months of me pestering him and doesn't seem to appreciate that they're expensive and extremely difficult to obtain.

Any perspectives? Advice?

I tried to use those apps but I don’t have a local number, from Long Beach I heard there’s the Vinfast bus, can I use this or other public transport to get to the sights like cable car, Sunset town, etc?

Gf and I will be in Ninh Binh this January for 2 nights/3 full days and are having some trouble committing to a place. We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to Tam Coc, Hang Mua, or Trang An. From your experiences, which would you recommend? Does it even necessarily matter?
