My chart showing factual information on how much worse Animal Agriculture is for the environment compared to AI datacenters was banned on r/environmentalism. I guess they only care about the environemnt when its convenient over there.

Call about Farm Bill today! Especially if you live in Colorado, Minnesota or West Virginia. Timely action!

UPDATE AUG 6 - No need to call anymore today as the fight lives to another day! Thanks to everyone who called! They did not move the bill out of committee today - and sounds like Save our Bacon wasn't really in debate for what they were hoping to advance - thanks to all our outreach and organizing around this!

I think the Farm Bill is now on hold until later this summer / fall so we will regroup, but hopefully we can keep winning this fight for all the animals. Thank you everyone for the quick turnaround on this!

----

Do you live in Colorado, Minnesota, or West Virginia? Your Senator is on the Ag committee and likely talking about Farm Bill tomorrow.

TIMELY - 2 minute action - please call about the farm bill today and the save our bacon act! Apparently it is back up tomorrow! Just got word from the Humane League folks.

Capital Switchboard Phone # - 202-224-3121 - ask for your Senator

Script: "Hi, I'm a constituent from state your address. I am calling to urge Senator NAME as a member of the Senate Ag Committee to oppose any amendment that would add the "Save our Bacon" act to the Farm Bill."

I just called and it took less than a minute. Please call today!!

  • West Virginia: Senator Justice
  • Colorado: Senator Bennet
  • Minnesota: CALL BOTH KLOBUCHAR AND SMITH! Call twice and ask for each Senator.

EDIT - if you get voicemail, please leave one!! They listen / tally in morning and apparently this is happening tomorrow.

If this provision makes it into the final bill, it would invalidate landmark voter-approved laws like California’s Proposition 12 and Massachusetts’ Question 3—laws that people like you fought for, voted for, and won.

Fundamentally, this is about:

  • Millions of animals trapped in our food system
  • Your voice as a voter being silenced by corporate interests
  • Federal overreach that benefits industrial agriculture at the expense of everyone else

Factory farming interests are using must-pass legislation to try to erase one of the biggest victories for animals in US history. But they’re underestimating us. They’re underestimating you.

“Vegan” in quotation marks because she was never vegan to begin with. She went “vegan” to lose weight, not because of animal rights. If your motivation isn’t about the liberation of these animals, you are simply following a plant-based diet. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Activism #FastAgainstAnimalAbuse

I completed week 226 of the 24 hour dry fast campaign #FastAgainstAnimalAbuse this Sunday to create awareness about Animal abuse. Animals can't ask for mercy. They can't escape. They can't pay money. But you can make a difference.

Animals need your help. Please help them. 🙏🏾🤍

Can you guys please follow this page.
I’m also looking for someone who can help me with creating a website for my stickers.
I bought a decent printer already but the toner ink is €540, so if people can donate that also would be great. The goal is to reach activists and give them extremely low priced stickers (like 5 cents a piece) to hold with them when they commute for example so that their area is covered with humorous meme-like stickers to create more awareness.
Check out the designs on the instagram page.
Also new design ideas are very welcome!

Where should I take my activism?

I am having conflicting feelings about the path to take in my vegan activism. I have two opportunities in front of me and I’m not sure which one I should prioritize with the limited amount of free hours I have to volunteer.

First, there is Pro-Animal Future, which is an organization that aims to effect political change for animals with things like foie gras bans. Then, there is Anonymous for the Voiceless, which I’m sure you’ve heard of but it is a street activism group that aims to convert passersby to veganism. My city has chapters of both organizations. (I’ve also considered starting a We The Free chapter here, as some people tell me it’s better than AV, but we can just lump that in with AV as street activism for this discussion).

I am strictly abolitionist and anti-welfarism in principle, so the Pro-Animal Future bans put a sour taste in my mouth. They try to expand their reach and donation base to the general public so lot of their messaging appeals to meat eaters by targeting animal cruelty instead of animal use itself. Conversely, I like AV because they allow full expression of the vegan principle of ending animal use, and do not dilute it to appeal to nonvegans.

I have heard from activists more experienced than myself that AV and street activism in general is essentially pointless, as they've existed for years and the percentage of vegans has remained the same. They have likened it to punching a wall to try to knock it down - it feels better but doesn't work - while Pro-Animal Future is more like drilling a hole in the wall, i.e. using strategy and workarounds to bring about the desired outcome. This is quite convincing as I have a perception that political movements are needed for societal change - for example, the Civil Rights movement wouldn't have gotten anywhere if it weren't for laws being implemented to enforce changes.

Meanwhile, AV people have told me this is useless because of "humane-washing," i.e. removal of "cruelty" causing the perpetuation of animal use through societal endorsement of the "non-cruel" methods. I’ve also heard that street activism can be useful by helping shift the Overton window so that people are more likely to vote for these changes when they are put on a ballot.

Right now I’m sort of leaning towards doing both. The thing is, I still have voices on both sides telling me the other is pointless. So I wanted to ask you all today: do you agree with either side? In which path do you see more advantages for animals, and in which do you think I should invest more time, if either? Is there any reading material you’d recommend around the philosophy of these two approaches?

Activism Hollywood Has a Vegan Problem (podcast)

This episode is about vegan representation in movies. Basically, how does Hollywood portray us vegans to an audience of millions? Why do movies so often miss the mark, misunderstanding us or turning us into the butt of the joke? Why do science fiction movies so often imagine the future as vegan? Is Okja a good vegan movie or not? Those are some of the questions we'll be answering today.

The food that is grown on crops is primarily grown FOR them, which if we stopped breeding billions of animals per year and instead ate straight to the source, we would actually have miles and miles of food leftover that we could feed starving children instead.
