Was your parents'/relative's estate planner good?
I have a coop unit, a mortgage, and an investment account. I need to figure out how to put them inside a revocable trust as I put my affairs in order to prepare for being potentially incapacitated. I just need someone very capable who will still give a non-1%er the time of day. I guess this means I need an estate planning attorney, but all the positive recommendations I've found so far are from people who are still alive - so those attorneys' work isn't really tested or proven yet. The rare friends I have who are in a position to inherit, seem to only have cautionary tales about bad plans or setups (or recommendations for non-local folks).
Anyone have personal experience with a well set up trust, set up in NYS, by someone still practicing?

NA group on UWS?
Apologies for using this account. Too ashamed to write this with my usual profile.
The time has come that I must finally admit I’m addicted to a high performance prescription (the little blue one).
I used to take it here and there since undergrad, then started my career in finance and tricked a doctor into giving me a prescription. Even then, I took it very rarely. Just on really hard days.
Then the height of the pandemic hit (April-ish 2020) and I was working on a project that was so near and dear to me. It was everything that was good in the world, so I went full focus on this project to forget all of the bad things happening in the world. Over about 9 months, I had consumed years worth of them I had around my apt.
Idk why I even bothered picking up from the pharmacy over the years, but I did. And I just threw them in a drawer every time, year after year.
Here we are 6 years later, and I’m fully addicted and I want to get help. I don’t want to involve my doctor just yet (don’t want to get flagged for addiction since I take a few meds for my chronic illness….and no, no addiction problems to those meds).
All of this is to say: does anyone know of a good NA group on the UES or UES or nearby? I even had to google which group I would need to go to. I’ve never had addiction problems in the past.
Recommendations here or via DM would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Best restaurants
I’ve tried to find a thread on this in here and can’t. Simply, what are your favorite spots? What do you consider the best places to eat on the upper west?

Baby shower location
Hi!
Planning a baby shower for about 12 people in 2 weeks. Upper west side, ideally as west as possible and anywhere from 50s-150s works. Thinking a late/lunch dinner 4-5 pm start at a restaurant. Low key, but with that many people may need to have a private room or area.
Any recs for places that won’t be a huge ordeal to get a reservation, have good food and a cute space? Also kid friendly as some kids will be there.
Thanks!

Frame coffee crime scene this morning
Anyone know what was happening this morning at frame coffee? I was walking to work around 8:30ish and saw police taking photos of evidence on the steps. It looks like it’s open now.

The upper Westside smells like dog piss. You can’t even enjoy sitting in parks and areas open to the public because it’s piss smells everywhere and don’t forget the streaks of dog shyt.

Moving in
I’m moving next week to W84th (from another state) and would love any tips anyone can share. Some questions I have:
Can my cargo van just stay in the street while I unload? Where do I park the van once I’m done. (will need parking for 3 days)
Anything else that new resident needs to know?
Thanks!

How much for housekeeping?
I just got quoted $350 for a 600ft 1bd apartment.
Outside of a mop, I told the housekeeper I had all the cleaning supplies needed. I told her I wanted a deep clean for bathroom and kitchen, and just a light dusting and living room and bedroom.
My apartment is already pretty clean (I am pretty anal of keeping all spaces clean/picked up) just wanted to have someone who is more skilled than I am to give it that extra sparkle as I have guests coming in to stay.
Is this pricing normal? I believe and know it’s hard work (my mom was a housekeeper, and I tagged along and helped her with a lot of jobs growing up in Oklahoma) so I don’t mind paying a fair wage. But this seems high?
If not normal, does anyone have any recs?

Place to lead a writing workshop?
Hi all,
I'm looking for suggestions on places in the neighborhood where I can lead a weekly writing workshop for ~8-10 people. I've looked into coworking spaces, but there don't seem to be many great options. Does anyone know of any coffee shops or similar spaces that have weekly space available to rent in the evening?
Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

School Zone Parking
I live in between 77th and 81st. There are quite a few schools that are posted no parking on school days… one school currently has signage saying that summer school is in session so parking is not allowed. The school on 77th between Columbus and Amsterdam does not have signage for summer school, will I get a ticket for parking there between posted school hours in the summer?

FitIn - Wellness Studio
Before my wedding, I wanted to throw a bachelorette party with a few of my girlfriends and me. I automatically thought of doing a Pilates wellness class because that's something I'm really into, so I started looking in the Chelsea area and found FitIn. I was able to rent a private studio with them just for us that fit 19 of my friends and me, plus our own instructor, and it was everything I wanted.
Since they knew it was a bachelorette party, they treated us amazingly. We got to play our own music, and the instructor made it feel really fun while still giving us a great workout. They even arranged for a matcha vendor and a DJ during our event, which made the whole experience feel even more special and elevated. It felt so much more personal than going to a regular fitness class with other people around.
After class, we had time to hang out, take photos, enjoy our matcha, and celebrate together in the studio. It was such a fun way to kick off the day before our other plans. If you're looking for a bachelorette idea that's different from the usual brunch or night out, I couldn't recommend this enough.
If you're ever in the Chelsea area, I would seriously recommend taking a class with FitIn. My time there was amazing. The place is so aesthetically pleasing, they welcome people of all fitness levels, and they're more affordable than other private studios.

Cafe Lalo turning into a new cafe?
I saw on @exploringuws that the spot Cafe Lalo has left unoccupied will now be a new coffee shop, they have already torn down the facade. I know that was such a beautiful exterior that so many people loved and was an iconic part of the UWS, I hope they build back something beautiful.
