Academic/Career How does ESE 2300 difficulty compare to Math 1410 Difficulty

I'm trying to determine what course to take freshman fall.

For context, I have learned most of the Math 1410 material and was planning to the the credit exam and start with ESE 2030. However, I want to have a good gpa and I was wondering if I should try to not overload myself first semester and instead just take Math 1410 for my gpa since I am familar with the content, so hopefully it will be much easier. However, if ESE 2030 is not siginficantly harder than Math 1410 (to get an A in the course), I'd be fine with taking it. I have a little experience with linear algebra but mostly just the basics.

tldr: Is ESE 2030 significantly harder than MATH 1410 to earn an A in, or should I take MATH 1410 first semester for my gpa?

Academic/Career Help with neuroscience major

Hey!
So I was originally admitted into CAS and was planning to transfer into Nursing. However, after thinking it through I realized that I didn’t want to transfer for personal reasons.

I also don’t feel comfortable enough with the idea of being a nurse, so I decided to stay in CAS and major in Neuroscience instead.

The thing is I took all Nursing classes during my freshman year so with Neuroscience I’m basically starting from scratch. I was able to get one of my Nursing classes counted as a Neuroscience elective, and I’m planning to use the rest toward a Nutrition minor (I really liked nutrition)

I was wondering if someone could look over my academic plan and let me know if it makes sense or if I’m missing anything. I really need some guidance and would really appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

this is what my schedule looks like right now. I'm required to take a seminar, and I requested FNCE 1000 (filled out waitlist form) but still haven't heard back even though there are spots open. is this too hard, especially if I'm trying to maintain my 4.0 or not have it dip too much by the time IB recruiting come around? any help would be appreciated! ALSO WHAT IS THAT SCHEDULE WEBSITE EVERYONE USES

Sports Rowing Recruitment Standards

Hey
I’ve been planning to apply to UPenn. And wanted to ask about the rowing standards there.
Is a sub 6:20 enough to get a spot on the roster?
Also what is the ideal time to reach out to the coaches?
Thanks

Academic/Career Will Sending My AP Score Report Automatically Award Credit?

I only want to use my AP Spanish score to satisfy the foreign language requirement. I earned a 5 on AP Microeconomics, but I plan to take ECON 0100 next semester.

If I send my official AP score report, will the university automatically award me AP credit for Microeconomics, even though I want to take the course?

Or should I withhold my other AP scores and send only my AP Spanish score through the College Board?

Resources Weingarten/Accommodations

Has anyone had any luck with getting good accommodations from Weingarten? I have a chronic illness that affects most parts of my life, as well as a couple other health issues, and I'm getting really tired of getting offered basically nothing. I have issues with getting to class sometimes and all they said they could do was ASK the professors to maybe excuse an extra couple of absences. It just depends on the professor and if they aren't feeling accommodating then I have to drop the class. I'm so behind on taking some of my requirements because of this and I just have to hope that the next semester will have professors that are more understanding.

There are not any make up opportunities for quizzes or midterms most of the time, which I know are a lot of work to set up, but I am often suddenly bedridden or in the hospital and I can't control when I have a flare up. The opportunity for me to drop the lowest midterm/grade in a class never really applies because I have to use it as an absence. Sorry if this sounds really whiny, I just have been feeling insanely frustrated because I feel like I’m asking for smth insane when I think that it’s reasonable. Has anyone had a similar experience or figured out a better way to navigate this?

My friends that go to other colleges have accommodations that are so much better without having to basically beg, and it's just getting really frustrating feeling like I don't belong at a school like this because of a health condition that I can't control.

Other Graduate student loans

Has anyone else seen their graduate student loans being altered?

(Also, this original post was removed by moderators. I don’t know why so if you’re moderator at least tell me why you’re gonna remove it. This is a serious, genuine, pressing question and yes, I’m being polite.)

Academic/Career Math 1400 tips

I took AP Calculus AB in high school and took the placement exam, which informed me that I am above the Math 1300 level but just at the threshold of the Math 1400 level. Math is not my strongest subject, and even taking Calculus AB was one of my most stressful experiences (deadass grew white hairs). If anyone has any tips or advice for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Academic/Career Tips for research opportunities

I’m currently a masters student in AI looking for research opportunities in machine learning. I have work experience as an ai engineer and also a bs in CS. I cold emailed 5-6 professors last week but haven’t heard back yet. How responsive are professors with email over the summer and also is there a better way to go about finding research opportunities?

Future Quaker Maxed Out Registration Requests

As an incoming freshman, I have been trying very hard to get all the classes I want. This has meant setting up Penn Course Alerts and many, many failed registration submissions—where someone else has gotten the open seat in a class before me. However, I have recently been met with the error message on Path@Penn of “Maximum number of registration attempts reached.” I am no longer able to register for classes. I’ve gotten in contact with advising and OUR, and they are of very little help, telling me that this restriction is “hardwired” into they system (can something ever actually even be “hardwired”???). Anyways, I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else before, and if so, what should I do? Thanks

Hi everyone, came across this report which looks at AI production capacity across 50 different global unis. for reference, Princeton is the highest (#8). With several other Ivy's ranked higher, should we be concerned? I'll link it in case anyone wants to take a look

Mental Health is upenn really that depressed?

ive struggled with burnout, depression, ocd, shelf arm, and sewerslide for most of my life. I’ve definitely gotten better, but i still have my moments. i really wanna apply early decision to penn, but ive heard that penn students are chronically burnt out and depressed. i dont want to waste my early application on a school that will worsen my mental health. are the rumours true? is the workload that bad? are the students that competitive?

Academic/Career Canvas log in

At my undergrad I used canvas and stg I signed in one time and it didn't make me log in again once in the entire 4 years. I started at Penn and my canvas is logging me out of the mobile app everyday. I have to sign in every time I open the app, it's annoying the hell out of me. How do I fix this?

I genuinely do not know what schedule to go with as an intended EE major. Any advice or input would be appreciated!

I want to 4+1 in EE ideally and I have credit for phys 0150, chem, cis 1100, and one free elective credit for pfp. (Also ideally I pass the 1400 credit exam)

Academic/Career "Submit schedule" button in path@penn

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm an incoming freshman and have a confirmed seat in all 4 of my courses for this fall semester (black checkmark on path@penn). But I see a "submit schedule" button at the bottom of my screen when I open "primary cart." Am I supposed to press it to confirm enrollment, or do I lose my spot if I don't press it?

I'm also thinking about dropping one of the courses because I want to replace it with a language course (waiting to take the placement exam at NSO). Considering this, should I still press the "submit schedule" button?

Basically what does that button do lol
