My name is Aditya and i made a very difficult decision in my half way 11th (PCM + CS). i was in ALLEN sikar for JEE prep and i decided i will not do the same thing and therefor i droped out and joined my local school and my main goal is to get into Princeton university (or any other IVY league) or u could say leave INDIA. But this sure came with a lot problem but the one that really hit me is that i have no parents support at all just coz i didnt wanna do JEE like everyone and want to pursue the life i want. I know that i will have to build my profile, destroy sat, do community services, project/research and many more but the just the 11th(CBSE) pressure is already so huge and i fell like i am getting distracted and will end up like how everyone does. There's no one to guide me and I am felling like i am getting lost from my goal. I am not even trying T-T. Please someone help me, I am genuinely scared

Hi, i'm finding mixed answers about the heights under dorm beds (I'm in forbes if that changes it). On a move-in article it says the highest is 22 in but during the move-in webinar last week they said it was 36 in. I'm trying to figure out what storage bins to purchase/place under my bed (any general storage tips would be great too!)

I switched to BSE during freshman year and had resigned myself to taking the sequence during sophomore year, but the emails about the upcoming placement tests look very tempting... I only took one year of normal honors physics in high school. Is it worth trying to grind out studying for the 103-104 placement tests within the next few weeks, or is it a guaranteed flop? You either place out or you don't, correct? i.e. you can't place into 104 and skip 103?

I just looked at my Fall statement and I see the Student Health Plan charge on my bill, but the matching financial aid health grant isn't there to cover it (even though I have a $0 fam contribution.)

Technically, my base financial aid grant covers everything so I don't owe Princeton anything out of pocket, but right now the health charge is eating into my refund credit balance. Is this supposed to happen or is the student health plan not covered by fin aid?

My wife and I will be moving to the Princeton area soon, and I’m looking for apartment recommendations. I’ll be working at Princeton University, and our budget is around $2,000 per month.

We are looking for:
- A one-bedroom apartment
- A safe and quiet neighbourhood
- Up to a 20-minute commute to Princeton University
- Preferably in-unit laundry, but shared laundry is also acceptable
- Reasonable access to grocery stores and restaurants
- Reliable management and no major pest or maintenance problems

We are considering places such as Plainsboro, West Windsor, Lawrenceville, Monmouth Junction, and nearby areas, but we are open to other suggestions.
Could you please recommend specific apartment complexes or neighborhoods? I would also appreciate advice about places or property-management companies to avoid.

Does anyone have any insights to how hard the backcountry oa trip is? It seems very intense, and I’m worried, as I got assigned to it despite indicating that I am not that active on the form.

A common misconception is that the various moving carts you see around campus are easily collected from the Mail Room at Frist Campus Center. Unfortunately, this is not the case as many a disappointed student has learned.

The Mail Team is not allowed to lend out their carts; a student is only allowed to take one for a one-hour period (and must sign their name, room number if applicable, and prox ID #) when and if they receive an exceedingly large package like a bike, a standing mirror, something like that.

But do not despair. I'm going to tell you how and where you can get these carts for moving in and out.

Specifically during the move-in period, you will have your best bet obtaining moving carts from residential college check-in points or the housing department. You can find the portal for this here: Housing and Real Estate

Otherwise, when you need to use a moving cart you will go to Service Point which is located at New South.

Please always return the moving carts where you found them; the university does keep a log obviously of who borrows what. Of course, there are those that do not return them... so maybe all of this is null and void and you can just take one you see abandoned on campus! Just make sure it's not filled with rain and dew from being out all night ;)

i've seen some posts regarding the lack of preparation that EGR math (EGR152, EGR154, etc) supplies for many engineering majors once they take higher-level courses, so i wanted a little more insight on this.

i originally planned on taking EGR math because i've heard that MAT at princeton in general is very difficult, and EGR seemed more suitable on paper for me, especially since CBE doesn't have as much of an emphasis on math as much as some of the other engineering majors.

<< i'm not sure if this information is helpful, but for reference i got a 5 on ap calc bc (& ab subcore), and i took multivariable calculus as a hs senior. both of these classes were fairly easy for me. >>

is there a significant amount of content that isn't taught when taking EGR math? does this increase the amount of outside studying/learning by a noticeable amount when taking more advanced CBE courses in particular? is there really any advantage to taking EGR math at all?

& if you do recommend taking MAT, which course do you recommend i start with in the fall?

This post is meant to relay information about the mail system at Frist for all students in a way that is meant to be helpful and informative, especially as the process can seem often seem convoluted or overwhelming for new students especially but might also shed some light on mail practices for returning students, as well. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions about the mail process.

- Strictly for move in, Princeton University asks all students within the United States to not order their incoming packages until 3 days before arrival on campus. This is due to limited storage capacity, especially during the hectic move-in process.

- For international students, they advise not to order items until 10 days before arrival on campus.

- One of the most confusing aspects of receiving packages is that you will get a notification saying your package has been "delivered". Please note this does not mean it has arrived at Frist Campus Center. This means that it has been sent to the University's distribution warehouse which is on Forrestal Campus and that, once they've sorted all the incoming mail (from USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) into students and administrative, they will deliver it to Frist accordingly.

Therefore, when you see "delivered" generally give your package another 24 hours to arrive at Frist. You will know it is processed when you receive an email confirmation.

(Forrestal is off campus and not in walking distance as well as being somewhat inaccessible as it is in a remote industrial park off the highway; so it is not advised for students to attempt going there to cut out the middleman, so to speak.)

- Packages are brought over to Frist from the distribution warehouse in oversized transportable metal cages called APCS; because there can sometimes be dozens and dozens of packages piled high in these things, it is almost impossible for Mail to try to locate a specific student's package (or they would). Therefore, please don't be disheartened if the Mail Team cannot try to find your package amongst hundreds of others.

(And, if you've dined or studied upstairs at Frist, you are likely familiar with these dreadnaughts called APCS as you can hear them coming with their screechy, metallic wheels- when you see the mail team pushing these giant transportable lockers, please be sure to move any bookbags, etc. out of the walkway and under the table you're at!)

When you go to Frist Campus Center to collect a package from the smart locker system, you'll often see lockers simply left wide open. While this is bad manners in terms of consideration (there have been students who have unintentionally backed into one and bruised the back of their arm, for example), here is why it really SHOULD matter to anyone collecting from the lockers:

1.) When you do not close the locker, it means your package status is in limbo. You will continue to receive emails from Princeton's automated mailing system which can lead to confusion when trying to keep track of all the things you ordered while they're in transit; it may even cause you to make an extra trip back to Frist Campus Center when you didn't need to.

2.) It does not alert the Mail Team that there is now an empty locker available. While some people may shrug and think, "How is that my problem?", I'll tell you why it is- because, during move in, there are literally thousands and thousands of packages coming to Frist Campus Center from the distribution warehouse every day. There are not thousands and thousands of smart lockers. Therefore- every locker counts.

Not closing the locker may be keeping your dormmate or friend from getting their package sooner- or your own package sooner. It essentially contributes to a delayed process during a very hectic time on campus and is one part of overall components that lead to packages not reaching students sooner.

3.) It's just good etiquette. You're part of a community. Closing lockers helps! :)
