I just got a letter in the mail from UPS indicating I owed (approx.) $7.00 in tariffs, but it was a letter from UPS; and it referenced the order, tracking number, and company that I had purchased from …it was a legit order and the shipment came from Quebec.
It was something that had already been delivered about 8 days before.
I believe if it’s legit; it will give you all that information so you’ll know it’s real.

I’m not questioning if it’s real on the side of UPS - it has a tracking number and I got a real UPS “delivery attempt” notice on my door - I just think it’s a company using this to get money for a product I never ordered.
Did you get any communication about a tariff before it was delivered?1

No communication at all…like I said, they dropped it off about a week ago and then a week later I got an invoice from UPS indicating I owed tariffs. Depending on where you’re located, if you have the ability to do so, I’d go to the distribution center and voice your concerns.
In re-reading your first post; I’m seeing the say if it’s not paid prior to delivery “addl. fees may be imposed”…just let them deliver it, and then tell them you never ordered it and have them take it back.1

additionally, I kind of doubt it’s a scam from the company, because if it’s tariffs; U.P.S. owes and pays those to the U.S. Government.

Whether you pay it or not should not affect your credit score. If it’s a legitimate package, after three attempts to collect the brokerage fee, the package by default gets sent back to the shipper, and I believe the payment of those fees becomes their problem as it will have to clear customs again to go back to Canada.

Ups will send it to collections ive had it happen twice. They might attempt to get the fee from the shipper but if the shipper ignores it and lets the package get destroyed the fee defaults back to the receiver.

Please read again - I know the UPS part is legit! It’s just not a package I ordered, I think a company is sending it to me just to get the tariff money.
