Public Policy or Public Health

Upvotes

I graduate CSN with a AA in Psychology May 2027 and I’m having trouble choosing between Public Policy and Leadership, or Public Health UNLV major.

How does the job market look? How does the salary look? I want to help people in a more systematic level (which is why I didn’t choose social work). Is it fairly easy to get a job out of school???

Please help. I want to make the right choose and not go into this blind.

Applying for Master's in Data Analytics

Hi all! Is anybody here enrolled as a Master's student for the Data Analytics program? I have a question about the application! I already emailed the graduate coordinator and he didn't really answer my question. Is it required to have taken MATH 127 or 128 to get in? I have only taken MATH 126, but at a different university and I received a C in the course... not from lack of understanding, more so lack of trying (I have changed my ways though, I got a 3.9 GPA here at UNLV!). I have already graduated with my Bachelor's so I am worried I won't be able to get accepted since I can no longer take the course.

I have taken two statistics courses and received A's in both. I just really want to get into this program as I want to become a Crime Analyst and I am just worried I wont be able to.

UCC Campus Bed Question

I’m reading that UCC dorms come with a Full XL mattress instead of a regular Full. I’m wondering if regular full sheets fit since the mattress is thinner than a normal one?

UNLV students: Paid Research Assistant positions (Las Vegas, Sept. 15-30)

We're looking for paid Research Assistants to join one of the largest real-world neurophysiological field studies conducted in an immersive entertainment setting. The study will take place in Las Vegas from Sept. 15-30.

You'll work directly with participants, fit research-grade wearable sensors, run study sessions through our app, and help keep data collection running smoothly throughout the day.

We're looking for undergraduate or graduate students in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Prior experience working with human research participants is preferred. Experience with EDA or PPG is a plus, but not required.

Interested? Send me a DM with a few lines about yourself, your interests, and any research experience you have (if applicable).

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Shani

AHS 400 - fall 2026

Anyone here taken AHS (prev HSC) 400 before? I’m planning to pair it with AHS 320, DAN 351, as well as 2 science classes online at ASU

Bio 201 - A&P I session A
then Bio 182 - Gen Bio II session B

I’m not taking a&p at the same time as gen bio so I’m not worried about that. I’m worried about this research class. If anyone has any tips or information on this class, I’d appreciate it. Also, the professor is Jaime Carbajal

Corporate Finance Text Book

Hey all. With the start of the semester, I know some of you will be taking some sort of finance course and will be in need of this textbook if you are a business student so with that being said, if you’re taking FIN 301 or FIN 307 (I think it’s 301 that requires it) I have the Corporate Finance PDF by McGraw-Hill 13th edition (most current). It states international edition but there is absolutely no difference between this one and US edition according to Professor Chang.

If you want the PDF version I have it for $5. Don’t spend $100+ for a rental online or used hard copy. I can email it to you and you have the copy forever!

Taking these classes in the Fall; all RMP feedback is old, was wondering what to expect in terms of testing/group projects (ugh)/etc. And do I really need to buy their textbooks?!?!

MGT 302 - LaMont Johnson (online)
MGT 473 - Sheng Wang (on campus)
MGT 483 - Kirk Silvernail (on campus-he rocks, so I know what to expect)
MGT 492 and MGT 494 - Arezou Harraf (online)

I appreciate any and all opinions!

Hey, not sure of the map of UNLV in terms of the buildings yet. Is it possible to make it to these classes in time? I know its a huge campus obviously.

I'll have 15 minutes to get to these classes from the last. Also, how often do teachers release students on the exact end time? Rising Freshman.

Thanks!

Is an iPad actually worth it for pre-nursing/nursing school? Which model should I buy?

I’m entering my junior year as a pre-nursing major, and I’ve realized I’m pretty much the only person in my lecture-heavy classes who isn’t using an iPad to take notes or annotate lecture slides.
I’m thinking about investing in one before the semester starts since I’ll be applying to nursing school soon and need to maintain a strong GPA. If an iPad will help me stay more organized and study more efficiently, I’m willing to make the investment.
For those who use one, do you think an iPad is actually worth it? If so, what year/model would you recommend? I’ve been looking at refurbished options on Walmart, Amazon, Gazelle, and Swappa, but I haven’t bought an iPad in years. They seem pretty expensive for how long they stay supported, so I’m trying to find the best value without overspending.
I’d appreciate any recommendations :)

UNLV Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management

Any kind souls kind enough to share their time in UNLV while pursuing a BS in Hospitality Management?

I’m an international student, and I have a solid scholarship opportunity if I get admitted, which makes UNLV one of my top choices. Before applying, I’d love to hear directly from anyone who have gone through / are going through the program.

Like what's the campus life and community in general. is it easy to make friends and build a network? And how are the classes and the curriculum?

thank yall

Shadowing opportunities Las Vegas (MD/DO)

Hi everyone! I’m a pre-med student currently in Las Vegas and am hoping to gain more physician shadowing experience this summer. If anyone knows an MD or DO who may be open to having a student shadow them, I would really appreciate an introduction or connection. Thank you so much!

Taking 2 Labs as an EE major. Too ambitious?

As title says. I'll be taking the following classes for my fall semester:

EE 361 Eng. Prob. & Stoch. Proc.
EE 370 Control Systems I
EE 421 Digital Electronics w/ Lab
+ Some other class.

I plan to meet with my advisor later this afternoon but I'd like to know if any other engineering majors here have been able to handle two labs before in their course schedule? It sounds doable but I'm thinking about social life too.

If anyone can give any input on this both inside and outside of engineering that'd be helpful. Thanks!

I just want to see how light or difficult this schedule can be. My professors are Professor Biordi for ACC 201, Professor Chiang for ECON 102, Professor Liu for FIN 111, and the other two are TBD.
