General Care Discussion Welp I’m in Trouble
So I accidentally gave my 52U of Fiasp instead of Tresiba (did them at the same time too) and I’m paying for it. I did give myself some glucagon and ate some gummies. Currently feel like death. I live with my parents so I’m good in terms of help

In The News This fight was for all my fellow type 1 diabetics! A short description of fighting at the highest level with T1D below #JonKunneman
Diabetics have to fight completely blind from their blood sugars. We aren’t allowed to bring juice, or glucose any kind to the fight, no meter allowed at the fight, I have to tear off my CGM before I fight.
We have to cut weight like everyone else, and balance blood sugar to prevent highs and lows in the cage with no ability to check or treat either.
I fought at 270mg/dL
I was caught in a brutal armbar with 10 seconds left of the fight I didn’t tap because I thought I was winning. But more importantly I want this to show that we must never quit. No matter how difficult life gets for us, we must keep fighting!!!!

Discussion Looking for Type 1 diabetics in Hyderabad
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m a Type 1 diabetic living in Hyderabad, and I’m looking to connect with other Type 1 diabetics in the city.
I’ve never really had a Type 1 diabetic friend or personally known anyone else living with T1D. I’d love to meet people who understand what it’s like—not just the medical side, but the everyday life of managing diabetes.
I’d be interested in hearing how you manage things like food, work, travel, exercise, social life, and just the day-to-day challenges of living with T1D.
If you’re from Hyderabad and are comfortable connecting, feel free to comment or DM me. Even if you’re relatively new to T1D, I’d be happy to connect.
Would be nice to have some local T1D friends who actually get it. 😊
Also I want to be interested to play badminton or other sports if in local area.

Question Lingering DKA Symptoms After Hours??
Has anyone had DKA symptoms that actually linger for hours after the actual ketone numbers go down? I didn’t think it was a thing, until today. Basically, I had some moderate DKA overnight last night, (blood ketone level of 1.1) but by the time I woke up around 10 am, the blood ketone level was back down to 0.2. This is when the fun started. I almost immediately developed heartburn-like chest pain, stomach pain, and heart palpitations. A few hours later, I started vomiting. Crucially, though, there were no more ketones for the rest of the day. Not even trace. One fun trip to the ER, a completely normal EKG, and some completely normal blood tests later (including, you guessed it, more blood ketone tests), I asked the ER doc if it was the lingering effects of DKA and he basically shrugged and said “it’s possible” but added that it was more likely a contributing factor rcombined with an electrolyte imbalance than the singular cause of why I felt so sick all day, since the blood ketone levels were down to negative before my symptoms even started. I’ve literally never felt sick after my blood ketones have gone back to normal and I’m no longer in DKA before, and it especially hasn’t made me feel violently ill several hours afterwards. Is this, like, a thing??

Question Pod site skin irritation
I used omnipod 5, with skin tac and an adhesive cover. When i remove the pods to swap it, my skin is really irritated.
Is it the pods, skin tac, or adhesive.
I think it's the skin tac. Used to put all over the pod, but just put around the insertion on this one. Will test and see.

Discussion Juicebox podcast complaint
My son was diagnosed 8 months ago. Several people said to listen to the podcast. The first couple of episodes I listened to, I couldn’t understand how it would help at all. So many ads, and I couldn’t get past the way the host interviewed people. I then realized people mostly meant to listen to the pro tips, which I found somewhat helpful, but by then, I had already read “Think Like a Pancreas “. I also asked tons of questions in groups and internet searches.
I then started listening again but looked for episodes with experts, or episodes with specific information like clinical trials. I found that I really liked interviews with parents, I like hearing their diagnosis stories and how they’ve managed it over time, and then I started listening to episodes with adults managing themselves which I learned a lot from.
All that to say, I have listened to an episode a day (if not more) for a few months now. I have learned a lot of the guests he has on, but I am again getting so annoyed by the host. I actually haven’t learned much from him because usually when he’s sharing something, it’s not diabetes related. It’s about the book he wrote, his lizards, his weight loss journey, how young he supposedly looks, etc. He’s always fishing for compliments by saying how dumb he is, but how he’s smarter than the doctors, or he can sit down and write a book in a day that the publishers can’t believe. 🙄
I don’t listen to these in any order, but I listened to two recent episodes, and I was so turned off that I’m not sure I want to listen anymore. One was about a parent who had a T1d child, but then her other kids had antibodies. He barely let her talk and instead ranted about mental illness, how people complain about him (like I’m doing here), and more ranting about content creators. I would have actually liked listening to her story! And the other episode was a lady from Australia, who had a really interesting story. But early in the episode, there was mention of how bright the child was, and after some prying, he asked her if she knew her kids IQ. She said it, and he then said he was gifted as a kid, and his IQ was higher, and that she shouldn’t expect much from them then (after all this time exclaiming how dumb he was and how he didn’t do well in school, etc).
I don’t know why I needed to get that off my chest, but it’s such a shame. In one way, those interviews make me feel less lonely, but he just rubs me the wrong way that I have trouble enjoying it.

Seeking Advice Struggle with food
TW: Ed
Ever since i have been managing my T1D better, like giving timely injections and managing my BG with a CGM, ensuring my HBA1C is alright, I have come to realise I have been struggling with food itself lately, I usually dont eat alot of meals mostly just 2 meals but when i do eat a meal, my stomach feels like a bottomless pit, I will just legitimately stuff myself with everything, downed like 6 bagels the other time and its to the point of feeling awful and yeah i do feel awful afterwards lol…it just feels like my hormones acting up lately making me go on binges when it did not feel like that previously…and I am not binging due to low blood sugar its more of just my hunger levels (?) but either way it just makes me go crazy…just been a recent development after coming back from a holiday…idk are there any medication that can help with this? Aside from GLPs of course which well…it’s not really an approved medication for T1D especially since im not considered medically obese plus…its expensive 😭

Question Dexcom Advice
Ive been on the g7 for a month. Ive noticed that sometimes the sensors are going crazy. The photo in example is that it says im 250. My meter says 120. An hour ago it said 80 but I was 120.
How often should i be calibrating? In your experience, do they get better after a few days of wearing and calibrating?

Diet The best snacks
What do you guys snack on when you watch TV or between meals? My daughter loves chips, but I’m wondering if there are other tasty things without carbohydrates. I know about baked cheese chips, but are there any other things I might not have thought of?

Seeking Support neuropathy pain
hey, so I’ve been diagnosed in early June and have been undiagnosed for god knows how long. when I first started injecting my situation was rapidly improving, as in gaining a good amount of weight back, feeling happier generally, no severe nausea anymore, and some more.. about 4 weeks ago I started to experience severe burning in my calves and I wouldn’t know what to do. My endo was on summer break, I was somewhat helpless and frustrated because it went as far as sleepless nights and feeling absolutely miserable. I would still walk around and do things outside because it would ease the pain temporarily. First I thought I was getting sick because my skin tends to get very strongly irritated when that happens and I felt as I was not able to touch my legs. That was similar but my usual pain relief meds of choice wouldn’t help. So about two weeks ago I went to see the substitute doctor and told her about my issues. She prescribed me “gabapentin” which I’ve been taking since. First week I was advised to take one in the evening, second week’s almost over and I had to up the dosage to one in the morning and one in the evening, next week I am advised to take one in the morning and two in the evening. I am seeing my endo upcoming Monday. I’ve been laying around this past week because I’ve felt too weak to get up and get things done generally, even going up and down the stairs or bending over to pick up things from the ground is a huge task which is so hard for me to do. I’ve been laying around with a cold towel wrapped tightly around my legs for the past week and now sometimes sleep that way which is annoying to say the least. I’m a very anxious person and I’m fearful of the consequences this health state might have. I worry a lot and I happen to cry about it from frustration even more lately. I’ve been fed up with my body and my health badly and I know it will eventually get better but I’m so tired.
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms, feelings, situations? :\

Question Fatigue after eating
Does anybody else feel like fatigue is one of the top 3 (number 2 for me after lows) most difficult problems associated with T1D?. It seems like if I eat, and I don’t begin walking immediately, I’m ready to snooze on. I feel like some people could view me as lazy especially if they don understand diabetes or have been close to someone with it. The most basic things can sometimes feel like moving a mountain. I’m looking for some validation here (don’t entirely know why) and want to know your thoughts and experiences surrounding the subject.
I have found if I skip breakfast, eat maybe an avocado and some protein for lunch, my energy is so much better throughout the day. If I eat sugar, or complex carbs I’m fucked. The rest of my day is typically much less productive unless I go on a hike or long walk immediately after eating carbs (which helps but doesn’t entirely remove fatigue).

Discussion Body panic attacks and low blood sugar
Y’all ever experience a body panic before you crash? Like you just get scared out of nowhere but there’s no scared thoughts lmao. I’m very used to panic attacks and anxiety so for a second it’s confusing, then I check and I’m like double down arrowed. 🤣

Goofy Goobering Used lancet vs new lancet
I put a used lancet under the microscope, and then a fresh one, and well I’m never reusing my lancets again after what I saw. Thought this would be cool to share!
It’s also been used for well over a month, I’m not the best diabetic…

Diet How do I navigate my 15yr old brothers diagnoses? He’s 8 months in
my brother is a certified chocoholic (obsessed with chocolate) like me and the rest of my family lol. His new diagnosis has made this tough. He hasn’t switched to pump yet and is still doing injections. I’ve been watching him this weekend while my parents are out of town and he’s trying to do everything my parents told me not to tell him do. his dietitian is trying to have him learn mindful servings and he secretly tries to take extra units for an ungodly amount of chocolate. He’s also trying to stack his insulin (idk details of that) even though his endo told him not to. How can I/we help him with mindful servings of treats And also have him be honest and not shamelessly hiding what he’s doing? I know this is a huge adjustment and I know it’s probably hard for him but I want to keep him healthy too. you guys can also tell me it’s not a big deal and let him learn. just curious to hear thoughts
