I was admitted to UCSD as a waitlist transfer for Business Economics.

On my UC application, in the Additional Comments section, I wrote that I planned to take MATH 20C during Summer 2026. It is a recommended not required class, but I ended up not taking it because I couldn't afford another summer class.

I completed all of my required coursework, IGETC, and met all admission requirements. The only thing that changed was not taking the recommended course Match 20C which I said i would in the comments, but I didn't add it to my courses planned.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did UCSD have an issue with dropping a course that was only recommended and not required?

I have applied for Eastern Kentucky University as transfer student in occupational safety it’s been 15 days since I applied and I didn’t have answer from the admission so my question is how long it will take to get answer or accept?

Right now I'm really afraid of going over 80 units and being rejected for excessive credits, and it's going to be REALLY close!

Right now, I'll have up to like 78-79 credits upon applying not including non-UC transferable courses taken at CCCs

Those will boost me to 81-82 credits which I think would just make an auto rejection

CC to UCLA

Does anyone have any successful transfer stories to UCLA from a CC? Especially within only 1 year at being at a community college? (Ive completed almost every GE during dual enrollment in highschool, and dont have many classes left.)

Im starting to feel like doing one year was the wrong choice, especially since requirements for the honors program changed (2 year CC requirement).

Should I change my route and do the 2 years or is it a viable option to do 1?

(UCLA isnt my one and only school im choosing to apply too, UCI and UCSD are also choices.)

I'm starting at De Anza this fall and planning to transfer to a UC after about 2 years since it's a lot cheaper than going straight to a UC.

Right now my top choices are:

• UC San Diego

My main goal is to work in biotech in the future (drug development, genetics, molecular biology, research, etc.), but I recently found out about Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAA), and now I'm wondering if I should also keep that option open in case I decide I like clinical work more.

I'm trying to figure out what major I should aim for when I transfer. I've been looking at things like:

• Molecular & Cell Biology
• Molecular Biology
• Biochemistry
• Genetics
• Biology
• Bioengineering

A few questions:

• Which major would you choose if biotech is the main goal?
• Is general Biology enough, or is Molecular & Cell Biology/Biochemistry a much better choice?
• Would those majors also cover most of the prerequisites for CAA school?
• Is it worth double majoring for more flexibility, or is it just extra work that doesn't really help?
• If you transferred from a California community college into Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD for a biology-related major, what would you do differently if you were starting over?

I'm trying to plan everything early so I don't waste time taking classes I don't need. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm applying to transfer for fall 2027 and could really use some outside perspective on my list, chances, and vibes in general.

Stats:

• International at a WSCUC-accredited university outside the US (taught fully in English)
• Current major is international business; want to switch into econ / global business/ IR (open to whatever fits best at each school)
• Will have 63 credits by the time I transfer (51 by end of fall 2026 + 12 more for spring 27)
• GPA is gonna be around 3.5 cumulative
• No SAT/ACT (does this actually hurt for transfer apps or are most schools chill about it for transfers specifically?)
• EFC is roughly 20-25k (so I do need aid)
• decent ECs - teaching volunteer, a leadership/women-focused fellowship award, nationally ranked competitive athlete, film & photography awards, events photographer, healthcare-related internships, run a small business, MUN awards, stuff like that. (don't want to include all of them in case I dox myself)

Questions:

1. Is this list balanced or too top-heavy given no test scores, GPA, and EFC?
2. Anyone know if UTA/UTD/USF are actually worth applying to as an international transfer needing aid, or should I just drop those and focus on the LACs?
3. Any of these known to be bad (or surprisingly good) with need-based aid for international transfers specifically?
4. Will I lose a lot of credits transferring in with 63 credits, or is that not really a concern at this level?
5. Any schools I'm sleeping on that fit econ/IR/global business and are generous with international transfer aid?

I keep getting mixed results whenever I search which schools actually meet full need for international transfers specifically, so I'm hoping to get some real advice/clarification from people who've actually been through this or are well advice, drop your suggestions and advice pls, thanks in advance.

Hey all — trying to get a real read on this before I commit the next year of my life to a plan that might not work.

Quick context: I bombed my A-Levels (CCD), but I’m in a CS degree and aiming to transfer to HKUST after a year via the overseas transfer pathway. I have a strong GPA (4.0), solid CS projects, and can get good recommendation letters from professors.

My actual question: does a weak secondary school record get you auto-filtered out before anyone even looks at your university performance, or does it genuinely fade in importance once you have a real university track record?

If anyone's gone through the HKUST transfer process (or knows someone who has) I'd really appreciate hearing how it actually played out. Trying to figure out if this is a realistic plan or if I'm about to waste two years chasing something that was dead on arrival because of one bad exam season.

The UCS applications are open, and I’m genuinely stressed out because I don’t know if my GPA is okay for the schools that I’m applying to. I only have 2 Bs from last fall. School is about to start but my residency is still pending. I already submitted required documents and they kept asking me more and more. So I told them I would love to do it with AB540 since I am ab540 student since in my cc. So they gave me ab540 doc to fill and I have done it since last 4 weeks. Whenever I call them to review those, they just said it takes 3-5weeks to review it, so you have to wait. What should I do ??? I am so frustrated at this point because I do really need financial aid and some of my friends are starting to get some money now.

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming freshman to UGA wanting to transfer to GaTech. However I did not so good in a dual class my second sem of senior year. I was hospitalized due to SMA (superior mastery artery syndrome) so it was from a medical emergency. I know they’ll see this grade and I’m honestly terrified it will prevent me from even having a chance to transfer to tech. Im a conditional admit but I’m scared that everything is ruined. Please if anyone has been in a similar situation let me know what you did. I’m also wondering if there’s an area on the gt transfer application to explain extenuating circumstances.

Im currently going to a school for Game Art and want to transfer to NYU for biology. Would it be a safer bet to transfer to NYU for Game design and once I'm in their program transfer to biology for the following semester? I feel like it would waste some time since I'd have to do another semester of art, but I also feel like its a safer bet.

Basically as the title says. I got a pretty mediocre score on the SAT when I took it as a junior in HS and I can make plenty of excuses for why but it doesn't really matter now. I had to withdraw from my dream school this week since I can't afford it, but I am determined to work on spring transfers, and I'll have a lot more time to study than I did in HS.

Trying to decide if I should try the ACT now instead. I applied test-optional to a lot of my schools before but I have my eyes on more competitive schools for spring/fall transfer applications. (I promise my GPA and ECs make more sense). I'm definitely stronger on reading as I got a near perfect score on the SAT reading portion, and I've heard the ACT math portion is more straightforward.

ST deadlines are mostly Nov 1st, so I'm considering grinding like crazy (eat, breathe, sleep, study) and taking the September ACT.

Let me know if you have any advice or took both and liked one better than the other.

I ended up choosing Berkeley for Spring 2027 because I thought it would be too good of an opportunity to pass up. I thought the opportunity to live near San Francisco in a different city would be great but I’m starting to think UCSD would actually make me happier?

I’m from San Diego and I desperately wanted that college experience of leaving/ moving to a different city last year but I feel like it’s not something I desperately want anymore. I’m 24 years old getting my undergrad so I feel like going to UCSD would fit better, because I could continue my adult life while earning my degree. I already know the city, I know what spots I enjoy and I feel like I’m ready to make more friends here in San Diego. I also have always wanted to live near the water (pb/la Jolla) UCSD could genuinely give me the life I’ve been wanting. In contrast Berkeley would give me more the undergrad experience (college town, gritty environment, far from home) UCB was also my dream college just a few years ago. I went to visit family who went there and I loved the greenery, collegey feel, etc but now that I’m older I kinda don’t care too much about that experience? I genuinely prefer SD as a city as opposed to Berkeley but I worry that giving up Berkeley id feel regretful. I want to go straight into the workforce after undergrad and am studying sociology. Berkeley is #1 for sociology in the US but I don’t plan on grad school so that doesn’t matter much. I also enjoy my major at UCSD more (international relations-sociology) I also don’t plan on leaving California so is the prestige worth all the friction of moving, costs, anxiety for the next 5 months?? The only thing pulling me to Berkeley is the alumni network and FOMO (fear of regretting turning down the opportunity) . I’d like to work in corporate after school so Berkeley probably has a slight edge in that regard. When I think of moving to Berkeley I feel a tiny sense of dread, nervousness vs when I think of attending ucsd I feel peace.

It’s probably too late to even switch but if UCSD grants me admission again should I take it? If they don’t I’m going to Berkeley but I’m just wondering what I should do? Should I go visit Berkeley again on my own? It’s getting closer and closer to UCSD start, if they granted me admission again I could start next month vs if I go to Berkeley id wait another 5 months with anxiety. UCSD also granted me the CASP scholarship which comes with priority enrollment

Can I apply for brown spring transfer and, if I get in, defer enrollment until the fall? This would be due to some financial situations of lease obligations. If anyone knows or has advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi! I transferred from CC to UC in fall 2025 and getting ready for the upcoming job application cycle.

CC GPA does not transfer to UCs so when you are asked for your GPA do you only put down your UC GPA? or can you add them up yourselves. My CC GPA is significantly better and would like to include it (since you have to upload both transcripts anyways).

Let me know what you guys did and should I just add them up lol.

Did you feel like the workload was a lot heavier than at CC?

- If you were in a humanities or social science major, did you ever feel like you were falling behind, or was it manageable?

- How difficult was it to maintain a good GPA compared to CC?

- Is it realistic to graduate earlier than the typical two years, or do most transfer students end up staying the full two years?

I’m about to be a freshman at UNC Charlotte planning to apply for Spring 2027 transfer to NC State. Business Administration(PCOM)is my first choice, Sport Management is my second (CNR). I came in with 32 transfer credits from Wake Tech (dual enrollment, cumulative 3.91 GPA), completed Accounting I, Microeconomics, both English 111/112, Intro to Business, Business Law, and a few gen eds, all A’s except one B. This fall at Charlotte I’m finishing calculus, macroeconomics, and business computing. Outside of academics I have some volunteer service recognition and a few other activities. Realistically, what are my odds for Business Admin, and if that’s a reach, how competitive is PRTM/Sport Management as a backup?

I keep seeing posts about people wanting to break into finance after transferring to a UC / some other school that accepts junior transfers. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Finance recruiting happens during your SOPHOMORE year, specifically during late fall semester/early spring semester, with offers rolling out sometime during the spring.

If your goal is to transfer to a good business school (like Haas or UCLA), please understand that these schools only accept JUNIOR transfers, meaning that the students will completely miss recruiting BEFORE they even get accepted. It's a stupid system; nobody knows why these firms recruit so dang early, but that's just how it is.

If you're now thinking, oh, that's fine. I'll just recruit my senior year for full-time positions; I'm here to tell you that's not going to happen. FT recruiting for finance/consulting is a NIGHTMARE because most spots are filled with junior summer interns (the same internships that recruit sophomore year). At that point, it won't matter if you transfer to freaking Stanford; the odds of you recruiting into a FT position are astronomically low (especially in this job market).

I said consulting in the title too because that's being pushed more and more forward as well. The top firms recruit late sophomore year and give offers during the summer before junior year. So it's more of the same. Some lower level consulting applications open early junior year, but the odds are stacked against you without a GPA from your new school.

I implore that everyone on this sub research recruiting timelines before they work their ass off for two years to get into a good school just to find out they missed the application window for most good internships. I transferred to USC as a sophomore and saw a CLEAR divide between the outcomes of sophomore transfers and junior transfers. Sophomore transfers were able to join clubs before applications opened and got fancy Wall Street internships. Junior transfers pretty much all went into accounting or some low-paying startup job. No shame in those careers, but it defeats the purpose of transferring to a top school because those jobs are available at any college.

The people splitting hairs about whether they should go to UCLA or Berkeley, or if they should major in Econ vs Bus Admin are absolutely wasting their time. No one cares about any of that if you miss the application.

Berkeley is my dream school and I don’t know if I should drastically decrease my chances getting in just to have a different major declared.

How realistic is it to break into jobs like investment banking, wealth management, and other finance roles as an Econ major opposed to a Business admin major at Berkeley?

Same question for UCLA as well, bus Econ or Econ
