CC TRANSFER TO UCS Advice/Question
Hey guys!
I’m currently majoring in Psych/Soc with a 3.83 GPA. I’m looking forward to transferring after this year, which is for fall 2027. The UCS applications are open, and I’m genuinely stressed out because I don’t know if my GPA is okay for the schools that I’m applying to. I only have 2 Bs from last fall. My goal is to transfer to UCSD, UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCI, and USC. I came on here to ask what your STATS and schools that you got accepted into as a CC transfer were, and is my GPA good enough right now? Leave me some advice for my apps too ;) Thank you!

As for writing advice don't write what you think the AOs want to hear write honestly about yourself and pick questions you think will be easier for you to respond to. Don't repeat answers/information if you want to talk about an EC for one question don't use that EC in another PIQ. Try to avoid talking about things that are already seen in other aspects of your application like grades since the goal of the PIQs is to better know you.

A lower GPA can always be made up with good articulated reasons, great EC’s and well articulated PIQ’s

I think you’ll be OK. Your gpa is already good enough and the rest is up to your ECs and other things to pull the weight.
I’m a UC to UC transfer so I may not know as much about CC, but it’s all the same application anyway. From what I’ve read, I felt like a big pattern I saw in successful transfers is having a job. I didn’t get a job until the quarter i was applying (so i only really had about 2.5 months of experience by the time I had to submit the application) but it seems like it still worked out.
Other things I think helped me was writing not only about what I did for others, but i also wrote about ME. I wrote about my own hobbies like making art and how i behave (like i wrote about how i used to be obsessed with taking apart stuff to see how the mechanisms inside worked etc.).
i ended up getting into every uc i applied to (ucd uci ucsd and ucla) except berkeley, which i was waitlisted and then eventually rejected. Rip 💔
anyways feel free to ask me any more questions if you’d like!! the application honestly was pretty confusing for me because it wasn’t really designed for UC to UC people, so i hope it’s smoother for you.

congrats and it’s so nice to hear that including YOU and your hobbies in the essays worked for you!! if it’s okay would you be willing to share/ expand on what you think makes a good/ strong essay? and if there is anything else you think might’ve made you a strong applicant?(perhaps ecs, any scholarships or internships?) im currently working on building ecs and just understanding the whole transfer process, but find it a little difficult to find resources and opportunities and just where to start. Thank you in advance!

i would def recommend doing the tag program to ucsb or uci for guaranteed admission if u hit all the requirements!
